I would like to love this book, as I love horses, but the author's tone was a little too condescending for my taste. Hence, I could not finish it.

I've enjoyed horses since I was a kid. So, I was exited to read How I Talk to Horses which is written by a horse trainer and shows how she trains her horses. I think this is a wonderful book for horse lovers.

As a life long animal advocate and rescuer I applaud the author and her unique loving way with her horses. This brilliant author is a reminder to all of us that it is love,, compassion and care that makes animals respond not abuse. or forced training. If she were able to train all horses with her techniques so many would be saved. I loved her honesty about communication as I have seen it work myself with cats and dogs. Its a sad fact that the majority of people don't understand or care how intelligent animals are and she highlights that here with her results and loving animals . How her animals respond to her tells the story of how successful her techniques are.
I loved this book and as a animal advocate I hope we have more books for this author. Very well done and every animal lover would love this book. Thank you for the ARC which did not influence my review.

I did not like the way this was written.
It felt like the author was talking down to me as though I was an idiot.
Alright that might be true it did not make for pleasant reading.

Written by a horse trainer and breeder this story on training horses is both food for thought AND a reminder to all horse owners. Some of the important points covered include remembering to finish on a positive note and training without fear. Highlights the amount of trust animals can and do place in us and points out how abuse erodes that trust.
I certainly agree with the author that communication and memory are not utilised as they once were. My favourite quote was never limit yourself by what others believe you can or cant do (location 3038)
This book makes perfect sense to me as a horse lover and owner. I consider myself an experienced horse person, who is receptive to fresh ideas or revising existing ones.
At the start, I was a little sceptical about the author and her ideas. Further into the book this changed to feeling impressed. Even though I dont agree with all of the methods I was impressed with the level of commitment she displays. I agree that taking the best parts out of different methods to suit each horse is the way to go. I felt Margo was a very generous person for sharing her story and welcoming us to her world. The love for her animals shines through each page.
This book will suit all horse lovers, trainers and wannabees. I consider the training methods to be applicable when training other animals as the basic principles dont change. When it comes to horses you never know everything and those that think they do are soon brought undone.
