A lot of different things going on that makes t hard to connect to the characters and get really invested in the story. The writing style is good and the story is good just not a lose yourself kind of story for me.

Unbound by r.c. Butler.
When a high profile socialite is found dead, posed in an extremely provocative position, Lieutenant Ellison Frost must set aside her personal connection in pursuit of the truth.
Good read I likedhow ell and Sebastian were with each other. Looking forward to next one. 4*.

Unbound comes with a warning about explicit sex. I read this book as an ARC.
This is a racy novel with a strong female protagonist (a detective) and well-differentiated characters hunting down a killer in a hi-profile murder case. It is full of tension and fast pacing. Full of sexual tension too. The plot weaves in and out as Ell Frost searches for a smart killer.

Occasional repetition irritated me, but I couldn't stop reading it. Recommended to those who don't mind the very explicit sex scenes.

Unbound is two stories in one. First there is a murder mystery and second we are introduced to the sexually adventurous Homicide Lieutenant Ellison Frost. Both stories intertwine as Ellison investigates the death of a high profile socialite found sexually bound and suffocated. Ellison has always kept her private and professional life separate but this case has the two meeting in ways she is unsure of.
I enjoyed the story and admit to laughing out loud at times. Ellison is a complex character and I empathized with her struggle to reconcile her work persona with the other parts of her personality. I liked Rob and hope to see the relationship between the two grow.

Sexual tension is the driving force in "Unbound". Police Lieutenant Ellison Frost has a murder to solve while keeping her BDSM life out of the investigation. Her team of detectives are colorful characters that were the best part of the novel. The hunky IT guy Rob has similar life style tendencies as Ell so the attraction between the two is sizzling. Jamie Baker is a fellow detective who is portrayed as competent but who Ell has an inappropriate attraction to that the author seems to dwell on. Other members of her investigative staff are explored and add to the interest factor of the novel. The evidence is collected and witnesses are questions leading to the guilty party which came as no surprise to me. No cliffhangers and resolutions are achieved. A really good story with a bit of everything in it to keep me interested. Something different.

It was a good plot line with plot twists and turns. I enjoyed reading trying to figure out who was the murderer. What I didn't enjoy was everyone being hot for each other, cops acting in poor judgement which could derail the investigation (potential consequences were not even part of the plot).
