This felt a little chaotic to start with, so many characters were introduced I wasn’t overly sure what was going on or if I was going to even remember anyone. But once this book got going it was a great read. Highly recommended

Very well written but I found it a little cliched and predictable. Not my cup of tea but I can see others really enjoying this

Thank you to the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately, I have tried reading this book on 2 separate occasions and during that 2nd attempt, I have only managed to make it halfway through so I'd rather stop here and state that this book just wasn't for me.

I did not finish this book. I will stow it away for another time when my list isn't so long and I have time for a book that isn't completely grabbing my attention. I had an issue with the way it was narrated. The writing style just wasn't for me. It felt very abrupt and incomplete. The story is interesting though, and was getting juicy right before I stopped reading it. For another time.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. I appreciate the opportunity to review!

Murder, sex, drugs, suspense...what's not to like! My only problem was how to classify this novel as it read a little like a documentary at the beginning (we meet about 20 characters in the first few pages and it felt a little forced). It also moves between past and present tense in sentences and since it is told from the protagonist, Madison's point of view, I found myself having to reread passages to make sure I'd gotten the entire picture. That being said, it's an interesting story (apparently based on real events) as Madison discovers her wealthy veterinary husband is plotting to sell his multi-million dollar company and abscond with the money. Add to that a hot younger cowboy who attempts to seduce her and you have some steamy scenes. A fast-paced read for sure!

3.5 stars...

So... This was not my favorite book of late. The positives were that the story is interesting. It is supposed to be based on real events, which actually makes it more interesting to me. The characters were interesting. They are just diverse enough to appeal to a broad audience. The twists and turns of the plot kept me engaged and the way the story ends is satisfying if abrupt.

The cons... Really there is only one. I'm not a fan of the writing style or the dialogue used. The dialogue felt stilted and unnatural. It didn't always fit what was going on, and if comments were meant to be sarcastic, they didn't read that way. The story jumped around a lot and didn't feel like a congruent plot moving toward an inevitable conclusion. I felt like I kept tripping down side roads hoping to see a payoff for the detour.

I do think with a few edits and some cohesion, the story would be a 5-star read. No matter what, this could be made into a movie that people would certainly watch. I do feel like the visual imagined version played better in my head than the written word.

This book had a lot of different things going on that at times it took deep concentration to follow. I thought that the author did a great job manufacturing all the twists and turns in this book. Each group of people in this book had secrets that needed to be uncovered and when you get to the end of this book you realize that things get tied up very interestingly.
