I love animals, and especially horses, so I couldn't pass this one up! It's been a while since I had read a horse story, so I was worried this one wouldn't live up to my excitement. I'm happy to report it's a wonderful horse story, but is so much more!

Very good horse book that also addresses tough issues in both the horse racing and the human world. This is also a book about a teen and her growth process. She had tough decisions to make and as any person would, some weren't the best that could have been made, but through it all she grew. I would be interested in reading other books by this author.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

Terence Blacker writes "Racing Manhattan" in a very reminiscent manner similiar to the film National Velvet and the book "If Wishes Were Horses" by Keith Robertson. "Racing Manhattan" explores how people can be broken and beat from life and sometimes we find another person or creature that is equally, if not, even worse off than we are. Yet, through the process of bonding, you can heal each other.
Found this to be an excellent read; Blacker leads "Racing Manhattan" straight into the winner's circle.
