Una bellissima storia d'amore New Adult!

This book wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't great - it was just kind of....meh. For the most part, Marlo Lanz' writing was well done, though there were a few times the punctuation went wonky and things became sentence fragments that shouldn't have been. The characters were all kind of batsh*t, doing psychotic things (so many examples I don't even know where to start) and also not being all that bothered when psychotic things are being done to them. Of course, this leads to never-ending facepalm-level melodrama. But the thing that really threw me for a loop here was that Raincheck actually seemed like two different stories joined together at the middle: the first half, everyone is a rock star and they're on tour and being famous; the second half, everyone is a grad student and teaching college classes? It's just really incongruous.

TL;DR: The writing is fine, the characters are bonkers, the plot needs work.

This is such a fun new adult book, full of sass :)

This is a whirlwind romance tale where our main characters fall in love on a rock tour.

I loved it :)

I really had trouble getting into the book initially and getting caught up in the emotions of the characters. The storyline was good, but it just didn’t stand out in my mind amongst other books in the genre. The blurb was great, but overall the book just fell flat for me.

This was a great book. Liv is in the middle of writing her thesis and in your with her best friend's rock band. She falls in love with Ty Benson while her best friend falls in love with her. This throws her off, but she knows she must find Ty. I really enjoyed this book and I think you will too.

First book by this author that I have read but will not be the last! Grabbed my attention from the beginning

The story of Ty and Liv is witty, sarcastic, romantic and full of drama. It was interesting and I enjoyed the play between these characters and their friends. That being said, there was a bit much in the unnecessary drama department. A little more creative communication would have gone a long way in resolving things without the nonsense. Still, I liked their story overall and would be up for seeing what becomes of some of the other kindled romances that began on the sidelines in 'Raincheck'.

Can a friend’s brother actually live with you and love you without anything else going on? Friendships can be hard to come by so Liv didn’t want to do anything to mess up their special bond. Going out on tour with Gabe’s band for a few months sounded like so much fun; spending time with your friends and listening to some great music. The headlining band, Raincheck, was led by a very good looking guy named Ty. Ty had been through a lot and wanted nothing to do with this girl who surprised him in his bunk on the bus. All Liv was doing when confronted with a very angry Ty was taking a nap in Gabe’s bunk before they left for the tour. The only problem was Liv had picked the wrong bus to get on in the first place.

Between Gabe, Ty and Liv this story kept me engrossed over what and how was this going to work out for them especially since it was Ty who was giving Gabe’s band a break by claiming a spot on Raincheck’s tour? This author wasn’t afraid to mess with my heart because it was broken and put back together so many times that it was exhausting. She also made me hold out for hope and giving me the HEA I was looking for.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley for a freely given and honest review.

OMG I loved this book. The characters were great and the supporting characters were wonderful too. Can't wait to read more from this author.

The story really grabs the readers attention from the get-go. Lanz does a great job being descriptive and allowing the reader to feel like they are immersed in the story.

I was surprised at how fresh and how many surprises there were in this story once it got going. What a wonderful job of keeping the reader invested in the story and its characters!

Characterization is key in any novel and I felt like there was a great main character with real problems that the reader can relate to. She was easy to get behind and root for through the novel.I loved the way that she opened up and grew throughout the novel.

I found all the characters involved to be incredibly immature despite two beginning PhD programs in psychology. If they were freshman in college, I would buy their immaturity but to make it this far into their education in this field it just doesn't fit.

Ty was so incredibly manipulative throughout the book that I find it hard to believe that anyone could love him. He manipulated everything: Gabe, Liv, Piper, Liv's education, Liv's future and even risked the future of his band (how he can be so popular and still work an on the campus teaching assistant job makes no sense to me). He played with people's lives and didn't care who he hurt as long as he got what he wanted. And in the end he did. The author shows us if you want something bad enough just manipulate everything until you get it.

By the way this book is $6.99 on Amazon for a digital version. There's no way I would ever consider paying that much for a digital book unless it was absolutely amazing. Save your money...this isn't worth it.

There is nothing quote like a rock-star romance except if it's a rock-star romance that has bucket loads of drama, sex, suspense, romance and fun and in Raincheck that is what we get. For the first half of the book anyway. The second half is another story, (but not literally).

'I reached over pushing the stop button, watching panic take over Liv's face. Hating that I was the cause of it.
"Go to hell!" Liv said, turning her back on me.
"Darlin', I'm already there," I returned, wondering if she knew just how true that was.'

You know when the band goes on tour it's going to be explosive. Cramped into a tour bus and hotel rooms, ego trips, groupies, sex, alcohol and hormones all spill into one big cauldron of trouble with a capital T. Liv is the intelligent, hard-working and gorgeous-but-doesn't-know-it heroine of Raincheck. I loved her in the beginning, she was fun, flirty and incredibly likeable but after the introduction of bad boy rock star Ty into her life and the entanglement and deception with Gabe her character transformed into a mess of conflicting emotions and thoughts.
I don't want to give too much of the plot away, but suffice to say this book started out remarkably strong and interesting but somewhere along the way dissolved into a poorly written melodramatic teen soap with previously fierce characters becoming a little wishy-washy and ridiculous all for the sake of stirring more unnecessary drama into the pot.
It was a good read and I really liked the hero Ty. He was sweet yet stoic, arrogant but had a soft side that only revealed itself to very special people in his life and he fought hard for what he wanted. I would read a book from this author again as I see serious potential in the writing.

I usually hold back some views in my reviews and perhaps mark high but I just couldn't do it this time, I have to be completely honest. I do NOT like this book! At all. For three main reasons:

The Plot

This plot is the most cliché plot I could have imagined. It was like every sort of cliché from a romantic film was spoon-fed into it. It was tacky and unbelievable I cannot understand how someone can connect with it (although I am aware and respect those people who do). This book reminded me very much of After which (against general consensus) I don't like however after reading this I would rate After so much higher. It was typical girl falls in love with bad boy and it really didn't work.

The Characters...mainly Ty Benson
For anyone to read this book and find Ty Benson any of the following: attractive, lovable, romantic I'm sorry but you may have issues. I have never met a more manipulative character in my 15 (give or take) years I have been able to read. Forget about the fact that the story jumps from Ty and Liv's first meeting where they hate each other to 3 weeks later when Ty is suddenly in love with her. Lanz I would have understood if you included the development of his love, I might have even enjoyed this book but no Sir. Ty for the most part of this book STALKS Liv. He stalks her. Red flag waving there. He doesn't leave her alone when she repeatedly makes it clear she doesn't want to talk to him. HOWEVER she starts to develop feelings for him because of this. What. I have bookmarked at least 30 pages in this book where Ty's actions have made me feel so very uncomfortable. He abuses his position as a musician to trap and trick Liv into falling in love with him. He lies to her yet she doesn't seem to mind. He physically corners her several times when she doesn't want to be with him and on a number of occasions grabs her which is a NO for me.

AND THEN after all HE has done she feels bad and as though SHE treated him badly and HE lets her feel this way. This relationship is far from romantic.

Overall I don't really like any of the character's Liv, whilst not deserving of how she is treated, is stubborn and just...stupid. The other characters are quite clearly implanted for the plot and nothing really works.

The Relationships
Everyone's in love with everyone in this book making it even more ridiculous. Reading the description of this book I was expecting a love triangle but I was disappointed. Aaahhh no. I'm so glad to be done with this book.

Wow did I like this book. I would recommend it. I got upset with the characters of the book like they were real people! I am glad there was a happy ever after.

I found this to be a good read, although there were times when both Liv and Gabe irritated me with their behavior. Ty, who's supposed the egotistical jerk, was actually the best out of the three (in my opinion).

The story was a bit confusing to me because of Gabe. From what I had read of him in the first part I had a good opinion of him. The middle was a complete personality switch to me. I know they were acting as if they were in a relationship but he was obsessed with Liv and I didn't get that from the beginning of the book or from their history of friendship and living together with his sister. The end he was back to the type of person I thought he was. Liv in the middle part of the book made me lose my respect for her. Her and Gabe's actions together made me actually cringe. So why the not a lower rating? Ty. The supposed ass of the book. His character seemed to have the most integrity out of the three. I received a free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

A book that just didn't work for me. It felt very YA, and while I've enjoyed many books that are YA this isn't one of them. I found it difficult to believe in the characters, the romance or the story overall, and suspect that's because I'm not target market. I'm sure others will love it, its written well, but for me its a story that doesn't fit.
As it appears to be a debut book I'm not adding a review, the last thing i want to do it pt off readers who may find this story enjoyable.
