The second book in Putman's Hidden Justice series is intricately plotted and thoroughly engrossing. The characters are complex and develop throughout the story, giving the tale meaning as their relationships progress. The mystery surrounding what happened to Kaylene and her daughters is intriguing and will keep readers guessing until the ultimate resolution. This page-turner is smart, thoughtful and appealing to readers who enjoy legal thrillers and solid mysteries.
Kaylene Adams appears to have killed her daughter and mortally wounded her second daughter before she was shot and killed herself. Her attorney Emilie Wesley had been helping to build Kaylene's confidence to leave her abusive husband, and Emilie finds something very suspicious about Kaylene's death. Reid Billings, Kaylene's brother, also thinks something is strange. The more he tries to discover what happened, the more roadblocks are thrown in his path. As the two investigate, they begin to grow closer. Emilie is also troubled by a mysterious stalker who is getting bolder in his pursuit of her.

All evidence testifies that Kaylene Adams had killed her daughter and then herself. Only attorney Emilie Wesley believes that Kaylene would not do that - after all, she was preparing to leave her abusive husband! Together with Kaylene´s younger brother Reid Emilie tries to find the hidden truth - while not knowing that the eyes of the shadow figure are set on her.

I have enjoyed this romantic thriller very much! One reason for this is that the authoress Cara C. Putman is able to see the issue of the domestic violence by the just eyes - what if we (Christians, too) are blind to the sufferings at home? What if the traditional way of saying nothing and waiting for the (supposed) victim to say something and/or ask for help is not enough? What if we simply would care more, step up above the conventions, fear and our comfortable ways? Because sometimes we (Christians, too) simply lack the active, tough love to ask the uncomfortable questions and do the seemingly peace-disturbing actions.
Also - Reid and Emilie´s romance is everything. They click together wonderfully!
The setup of the mystery is also interesting. If Kaylene would not kill her daughter and herself, who did? And how, if all the evidence says otherwise?

But yes, this romantic thriller has more emphasis on "romantic" than "thriller". Not a bad thing, as the romance is very pleasant - but the mystery lover in me would like better executed mystery with more (and more smart) sleuthing.
But the topic of domestic violence and its execution more than makes up for these omissions. Hands down, Ms. Putman, catchy and much needed read and the job done very well!

When an author is intimately acquainted with a subject, like Cara Putman is of the law, it translates into the writing in a way that makes it all the more interesting for the reader. I appreciated this anew on reading Imperfect Justice. It was a riveting, suspenseful, page turner that I could hardly put down.

I highly recommend this novel and am grateful to NetGalley for an ARC, for this is my honest review.

4 stars.

I was pleasantly surprised by this! It was a decent fast paced story that kept me interested. I liked the characters and it was a bit suspenseful at times too. I hadn't read them first book in this series but I don't think it's actually necessary. I would definitely read more of this author's books.

A superb legal thriller that you can't put down. It is the second in the series but it easily stands alone.

I have read and enjoyed a number of books by Cara Putman during her career as an author that include both historical and contemporary suspense. Although each one has been very good, I believe that this author has excelled with her latest legal suspense series entitled Hidden Justice. “Imperfect Justice” is the second installment of the series and may be the very best one yet.

“Imperfect Justice” offers the reader not one, but two mysteries to help solve (you know we all get that involved with our books). When one of attorney Emilie Wesley’s clients dies after apparently shooting and killing one daughter and injuring the other one, Emilie is not convinced that her client could do such a thing. Working with the client’s brother Reid Billings to find the truth and thus potentially save the surviving daughter, Emilie is also plagued by an unknown stalker whose escalating actions make her increasingly uncomfortable if not fearful.

With almost perfect pacing, the plot of “Imperfect Justice” features vivid characterization and detailed descriptions. Action, danger, and a few surprises blend with a touch of romance to produce a gripping story that managed to hold my attention until I reached the very end. I also enjoyed that fact that Hayden and Andrew from “Beyond Justice” are featured secondary characters. It’s always fun to meet up with characters you loved from a previous book. I look forward to the next book in the series, “Delayed Justice” but it looks like it will be a wait of several months. If you haven’t read the first two books, do yourself a favor and pick up copies to read while waiting for the final book.

This is book 2 in the Hidden Justice series but they can be read as stand alone books. I couldn’t put this book down!! The story was very intriguing, thrilling, and kept me interested from the first to last chapter.

I liked the christian aspect through out this book as well-that attorney Emilie kept God in her life asking him for guidance and protection. It was sad to read about all the domestic abuse and home violence that these women had to face on a regular basis. I could sympathize the need for Emilie to help them but also how emotionally draining and hard her job was on a daily basis.

I can’t wait to read book 3 in this series when it is released next year. I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

I found this legal thriller to be very enjoyable and couldn't put it down at all for the last third of the book. Generally I've found it hard to engage in legal thrillers because the legalese bogs me down, but not at all with these! I definitely hope that Cara Putman continues to write more legal suspense, because it's so hard to find a good one.

Emilie was an engaging character and it's easy to like her. The whole story of Kaylene's death was so sad...it's easy to see where the "imperfect" part of the title comes in. Reid comes in with a strong presence; I'd have liked to see a bit more of where his career was going as well (a certain somebody needed a good comeuppance).

Definitely read book one to get the backstory on this!

I couldn't give it quite five stars because I saw the stalker coming a mile away and felt she made some foolish decisions about her interactions with someone like that. Also, the mentions of the "hunter on the parkway" from the last book were repeated, then explained with "thinning a deer overpopulation" at the halfway point. In my town they let people hunt an overpopulation only with bow and arrow to minimize danger to citizens, and DC is WAY more populated than here. There would be a great deal of oversight of a thinning of the population and it wouldn't be dismissed out of hand by the police.

Thanks to NetGalley for a free review copy. A favorable review was not required.

Imperfect Justice by Cara C Putman is the latest book in the Hidden Justice series. Emilie Wesley is an attorney who helps women extricate themselves from domestic violence. When one of her clients fails to show up in court, Emilie knows something is wrong. When the woman is found dead and is accused of murdering her daughter and injuring another daughter, Emilie begins to work against the clock, along with the woman's brother, to prove her innocence and protect the remaining daughter. Overall, this is an amazing book and I highly recommend it. If you enjoy mysteries of any kind, I highly recommend this book. You won't be able to put it down. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher. These opinions are entirely my own.

Emilie is an attorney who works for the Haven, an agency that helps women to escape abuse of their partners. She learns that Kaylene, one of her clients who is ready to see the judge about a protective order, is accused of killing one of her daughters and wounding the other before killing herself. Emilie can't believe it. Neither can Kaylene's brother Reid. Eventually they join forces to try to figure out what really happened.
This mystery is a fascinating read, with plenty of twists and turns to keep it interesting. I finished it very quickly and would read another by this author!

I absolutely loved “Imperfect Justice” by Cara Putman. This book had me hooked from the first page, and I couldn’t put it down! It has suspense and a little romance throughout.

The book centers around Emilie, an attorney that specializes in helping women needing help. When Emilie isn’t able to help one of her client’s and there is a mystery surrounding her death, Emilie teams up with her clients’ brother to find out the truth. Along with that, Emilie is dealing with a stalker, and she is trying to find out who this could be. This book had some twists and turns along the way. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I definitely recommend this book to anyone that enjoys good, clean romantic suspense books. This is an author who I will continue to read.

I received this book from Net Galley for my honest opinion.

This is my first Cara Putnam book. I really enjoyed it. Emilie is an attorney fighting for abused women, when she loses a client she fights for the truth along with the client's brother Reid. What really happened in that house? Together they work to save Reid's niece, Kinley who has been hospitalized and to fight for the truth. I thought the characters and story were well written except for the stalker, I felt like he needed more development to be truly believable. I'm looking forward to the 2nd book in the series, Beyond Justice.

This was the first story I read and recognized I probably should've started with the first in the series. It took me awhile to get invested in the story and I can't figure out if it was the writing style or if it was the plot which left me a little confused initially to figure out what was going on. Ms. Putman's legal background gives authenticity to this story and drives the suspenseful plot. This book will satisfy those who enjoy legal thrillers!

I love a good legal thriller, so I was excited to read the first book in Cara Putnam's new series, Hidden Justice. This book tackles some seriously interesting (and potentially divisive) issues: domestic violence, murder, police shootings, the legal system, and more. I have a lot of interest in these topics, so I couldn't wait to dive into this book.

really enjoyed the deft hand Cara used to handle this book and these topics. She managed to weave together an extremely interesting plot and story while simultaneously tackling some serious issues. This is a definite page turner and a top notch legal thriller. My only complaint about this book would be that the main character, Emilie, is a bit unlikable at times - she comes across as snobby and unwilling to help in some aspects of the story, and that kind of took me out of the story a bit at times. However, I enjoyed the story overall as a whole and I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good legal thriller.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in order to provide an honest and unbiased review. All opinions are my own.

Cara Putnam hits another home run with this suspenseful romance book. The all-too-real subject of spousal abuse is combined with stories of those helping victims escape--and what happens when escape is not successful. The book is filled with suspense, romance, and very real-world experiences. You won't quickly forget the content of this book once you finish reading it.

Emilie wonders if she can do it anymore can she really help those who cant help themselves. When her life is turned upside down she knows she has to keep fighting and get justices for the silenced. Reid it thrown into a role of trying to protect his niece he just needs to know who to trust and who might not be as safe as he thought. His whole world it thrown upside down but he will stop at nothing to help his niece. Can they work together and get the help for Kaylene's little girl or will there be more to it in the back ground they are unaware of?
This book is amazing I can't even. This book deals with some really tough subjects and there is not even a slow part in this book from page one to the very last page I had a hard time putting it down. I loved how the author held nothing back. This story could be anyone's story such an eyeopening read. This book is so worth the read I loved how it sucks you in and you can't go wrong. This book is a super clean read and no strong language.
