Never thought I would say that I laughed at a cookbook. This is definitely the funniest and most engaging cookbook I ever read. I know I will have to try out the recipes in it and see how they are. Also, the pictures are so vibrant. It made me very hungry reading through this. This writer, I feel could make anything funny, just from what I saw here.

Overall, this would be a nice cookbook to have on the self that I enjoyed reading.

While some of the recipe ingredients are not for the faint of stomach (flaming hot cheetos and funyons immediately come to mind), this book is so much fun. I can't wait to try a few of the recipes out, and the stories and advice had me in stitches. If you know someone who likes to bake, and is surrounded by toxic people, this book is for them!

This was a thoroughly entertaining cookbook. Laugh out loud funny! I enjoy perusing cookbooks, this one I read cover to cover in one sitting. The food looked delicious (and I will try some of the recipes), but the antidotes on the pages were amazing! I am 55+ years old and loved it! Purchasing for my two daughters-in- law because I enjoyed so much.

Funny, fancy, and amazing! Sweet Revenge gives you the best recipes to show your ex just what exactly he’s missing. Some recipes are super easy- like Pumpkin Spice Latte Balls. Others require a bit of skill in the kitchen. They are all fantastic! The Vietnamese Coffee Dip is coming to the next morning meeting and my teens will be getting the Flaming Hot Cheetos Cookies. Heather Kim is the sassy and funny best friend we all want to cry with and bake with.

Such a fun, creative, angry cookbook! Author Heather Kim had me laughing, licking my lips over the yummy recipes, and honestly, just a little bit scared. ;-)

SWEET REVENGE PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE DESSERTS FOR YOUR EXES AND ENEMIES. Quite the title. How could I pass it up? I couldn’t! From the title, to the cover, to the description, I knew this was not going to be my average recipe book. Any it wasn’t.

Despite the title, author Kim has created a way to safely blow off steam by creating mouthwatering, amazing desserts with names that allow you to get the hurt out of your heart, and kindness into your soul. Super fun chapters like . . . Go Ahead and Bite-Me Sized Treats, and I Never Kneaded You Anyway, you can get an idea of the recipes titles. A few are . . . You’re a Total Monster, Kiss My Molasses, I Cannoli Be Happy When You’re Dead, Stop Texting Me You Crepe, You’re a Piece of Sheet Cake, Suck it Up and Grow a Pear, Donut Call Me Again, I Ain’t Pudding Up With You, and so many more, you’ll have no problem finding a recipe to fit your mood, to give to that not so special someone in your life.

Along with the cleverly titled recipes, you’ll find pages full of colorful photos, fun illustrations, great tips, sugar profiles (who knew there were so many types?), nut identification, and more, SWEET REVENGE is as informative as it is fun.

I had a really great time with this one of a kind cookbook. You can tell the author has a great sense of humor. And I love that the sting of betrayal can start your healing by making wonderful desserts that taste good, and make you laugh.

If you know someone who has been burned by a significant other, or friend, treat them to this funny and vengeful cookbook. Have a SWEET REVENGE sweets party. By the time you’re done baking, laughing, and eating, you’ll forget all about the jerks in your life!

Wow! I never thought I could be unhappy with a cook book but I am with Sweet Revenge: Passive-Aggressive Desserts for Your Exes & Enemies by Heather Kim . Why, well I felt the graphics detracted from the recipes and pictures. There were no recipes that I wanted to jump in and make. The recipes used wacky ingredients, such as Nacho Cheese Dorritos and Cap'n Crunch Cereal in a cookie recipe or recipes like Flamin' Hot Cheetos Ice Cream Sandwiches with Flamin' Hot Cheetos Ganache, Candied Chicken Skin and Sriracha Icing. Also some recipes called for ingredients most well stocked pantries would not have such as Pandan Extract . Several recipes called for premade foods which defeats the purpose of making something from scratch with good healthy ingredients. I enjoy catchy recipes titles but the humor throughout the book and recipes titles were lost on me. I understood the humor just didn't feel it fit in with a cook book. There are loads of pictures and lots of tips, but as a serious cook and baker it's just not what I look for in a cook book.

This is so freaking cute I can't stand it!
There are some SUPER weird recipes in here: flaming hot cheeto sugar and sugared Funyons, for example, but others look freaking INSANE and delicious.
Funny anecdotes cute pictures and delicious recipes with horrible names? YES PLEASE!

Just like Grumpy Cat, who is totally negative but very funny, Heather Kim has come up with a very clever cookbook Sweet Revenge: Passive-Aggressive Desserts for Your Exes & Enemies, which includes decadent desserts and baked goods to make for all the wrong reasons. The premise is very clever, and makes for fun reading. For whatever reason you may want to bake, the recipes are definitely worth making. I prefer to bake for people I love, and am busy enough that I don’t worry about people who have offended me; nor am I willing to spend valuable time baking a treat for someone I don’t like. However, I do make time to bake the treats in this excellent cookbook; I’d rather serve them to friends. No matter what your reasons may be for baking, the recipes in this book are tempting enough that everyone will find dozens of things to bake.

Some of the clever names of the baked goods are: I Couldn’t Carrot All Cake, I Don't Give a Fig About You (yummy, buttery fig bars), You’re the Devil Food Cake, Stop Texting Me You Crepe (Oreo Crepe Cake), and I Wish You Were Bread, to name as few. The chapter headings are equally fun, i.e., I Never Kneaded You Anyway, and Forgetting You was a Piece of Cake.

All told, Sweet Revenge: Passive-Aggressive Desserts for Your Exes & Enemies is an entertaining cookbook with plenty of clever prose, as well as fabulous baked goods. The photographs are fabulous, and there are small sections with helpful hints, like a visual nut guide, a conversion table from US to metric, Essential tools for baking the treats in the book, and the different kinds of sugar. The recipes are well-written, easy to understand, and actually turn out like the pictures. Although the author is a pastry chef, you don’t have to be one to turn out these beautiful desserts.

If you have a sense of humor, and love homemade baked goods, you’ll definitely want to own this fun cookbook.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

As someone who loves to cook and who borders on being very passive aggressive, this book intrigued me with its concept alone. It actually delivered what it says it will i.e.: recipes for delicious deserts with a side of passive-aggressive humour. Not only are the desserts photographed to look delicious, they actually taste that way. They have hilarious names and the writing itself is witty and enjoyable. This book is meant for someone who is going through a back break up or dealing with enemies but it can be enjoyed by someone who just wants a funny book with yummy recipes. This book would provide healing for someone who is feeling down but I would caution there is a adult language and humour in it.Thanks so much to Netgalley for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

When I was reading the intro all I could think was; I am out of my lingo league here! I'm too old to even understand what's she's saying!
But THEN the recipes came and I understood perfectly!
I have tried a couple in Sweet Revenge:Passive-Aggressive Desserts for Your Exes & Enemies and every recipe was perfection.
There are so many recipes I can easily adapt to Paleo changing out the sugar and I can't wait to get my grocery list and get in the kitchen!
Heather Kim has a gift and I'm glad she's shared!
Ginger Snaps and Candied Bacon, shot, I'll break up with my husband of 47 years if he'll cook these revenge recipes!

Heather Kim manages to be snarky with her recipe titles (including some sneaky "treats") and sensible with her advice. The result is a deliciously different cookbook.

Sweet Revenge: Passive-Aggressive Desserts for Your Exes & Enemies is targeted for teens and young adults but I consider her target audience ageless. We've all had romantic or friendship disasters and using a cookbook to help sweeten the ending of a doomed relationship should help almost anyone.

I loved the author's wit and style of writing. It's not often I smile and chuckle while reading a cookbook but I did when I read Sweet Revenge.

The author, Heather Kim, prefaces her book with "this is a cookbook" and her book lives up to its name. Some of her recipes are a bit odd but most are traditional sweets that can be baked when you are feeling the need for some sweetness in your life.

You will find the following chapters in her book:

Revenge is Best Served Warm (A note from Heather Kim)
Grab Life By the Milkballs (AKA How to Use this Book)
Go Ahead Bite-Me Sized Treats (Cookies, Bars and Balls)
Forgetting You Was a Piece of Cake (Cakes and Cupcakes)
I Never Kneaded You Anyway (Breads and Pastries)
Buh-Bye Sweet Stuff (Candies, Creams and More)

Recommend.

I love every aspect of this cookbook! The recipes range from traditional to quirky (Cool Ranch Doritos, bacon, and day-old bagels are just some of the odder ingredients for dessert recipes). There are colorful pictures for each recipe which is vital for someone like me who bakes only once a year, if that. The directions are written clearly and sometimes have written notes included that tell you when to really pound the ex, I mean dough. I love the fonts and colors throughout the book and just looking at this book can brighten someone's day.

Honestly, I would read this book over and over again without baking anything. The sarcasm and puns in this book can help anyone who is getting over someone who wronged them and even get out some aggression throughout the baking process. I cannot wait for this to go on sale! I am buying multiple copies because we have all been wronged by someone in our lives. This is a funny (and delicious) way to deal with those less than stellar situations.

Sometimes I'll pick a book up just for it's title or it's cover. If it's a cookbook we're talking about with the promise of gratuitous puns, well, I'm pretty sold.

The book delivers on promised tone and puns both, fun, snarky, and well explained. The recipes veer into the unexpected, with the inclusion of various snack foods such as Doritos and Hot Cheetos as part of the flavor, texture, or highlight of sweet treats. But even if you're conservative when it comes to flavor combinations, there's plenty for you here, and a number of recipes you can make a more traditional version of by simply sidestepping the inclusion of the salty munchie in question.

A fun addition to your cookbook collection, and if you're in a library one I think that will definitely circulate on amusement value alone.

I loved this book, not only is it full of great recipes it also has a ton of wicked puns and humor. I wish I were upset with someone just to send them one these "treacherous" desserts. Hopefully it doesn't expire too soon before I get to make one or more of these "wicked" treats. *Definitely for the younger crowd though maybe t(w)eens to mid 20's
