I absolutely loved this book! Nicole Deese's skill in writing is outstanding, from her exquisite characters to her storyline filled with a depth and complexity that kept me riveted until the end.
Although this is the third book in the Lenox series, I was able to jump right in without having read the previous two. However, now I'm anxious to get my hands on those! I was completely captured by the plot Deese created, which was brimming with humor, grief, life, and love. This is a story I will not soon forget, as the characters filled my head and heart.
I am confident this book will resonate with those who read it. It's a treasure, guaranteed to leave you with a lasting impression!

"You're right. You probably shouldn't interfere."
Callie Quinn has arrived in the peaceful town of Lenox, Oregon, eager to spend the summer with her sister's family. Having been contracted to paint a facade on a local bakery, Callie's occupation as a muralist takes her around the country, happily pulling her Tiny House behind her. When confronted with the father of her nephew's friend; after an unfortunate, but intentional adolescent miscommunication; Callie and Dr. "Storm Cloud" don't share positive first impressions. It takes a wounded stray dog, and a disgruntled teen to bring these two opposites into alignment.
"The image of a wild haired woman with a half-painted face and a lack of personal boundaries", comes to mind when veterinarian Davis Carter meets Callie Quinn for the second time. Her free spirit and kind soul are surprisingly refreshing, and considering how much his son Brandon already likes the woman, Davis realizes he may have misjudged her during their first round of acquaintance. How easily she slides into their lives, like she belongs . . . . or something. Sadly, Callie carries deep wounds and is convinced that long term relationships are not in her genetic package.
Nicole Deese has clearly written a lovely story, with characters who are working through their own brokenness; hinting and hoping that freedom is loving and being loved, in any and all locations.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher on via Net Galley. The opinions stated above are entirely my own.

This book! An absolutely gripping, sweet romance.
The characters! So very realistic, and true-to-life!Callie, an artistic redhead, and Davis, the town vet seem to have nothing in common. Somehow Callie is one of the few people that knows how to draw out his preteen son.
I loved the way their relationship grows, slowly, as they learn to understand and appreciate each other.
As they learn to rely on and trust God, even for the hard things in life.
Another winner from a talented writer, I can't wait to read more from this author!

This author never fails to create a story that draws me in. It is a continuation of the Love in Lenox series; the third in the series. It could be read as a stand alone, but would definitely have some spoilers for book 2.
Davis is a strong and level guy, maybe even no fuss. It's his patience and kindness that really got me. Offsetting his calm, is Callie, a force of nature and color. I loved watching the story unfold. I really despised the emotional and mental manipulations from a specific (unnamed) character.
If you are looking for a modern romance with a clean story line and realistic characters, this is the author for you. Also, you should read this book.

Nicole Deese writes another heartwarming story of faith and love set in the town of Lennox. The author weaves a wonderful tale of a small town widowed veterinarian, Davis and his almost teenage son, Brandon who are struggling in their relationship. Enter a beautiful, free spirited artist Callie, who brings some much needed creativity and energy into their lives and helps them find their way back to each other. . This story focuses on the importance of family, particularly the relationship we have with our fathers. I just loved these characters and enjoyed every page of this novel, I could not put it down.. What I appreciated the most was how the author genuinely portrayed a family of flawed characters who through their commitment and faith persevered through difficulties and misunderstandings and found love and restoration.
I voluntarily received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Solid, dependable, serious, stable, single dad, great veterinarian and community member – This is what others thought of when they thought of Davis. He did too. Yet, there were times he felt like his world was starting to unravel. You see, he had a pre-teen son and life just started to become crazy. What was he doing wrong, how could he get their life back to normal?
All this changed when their world collided with Callie coming to town.
Artsy, free-spirit, dreamer, wild-haired Irish gypsy – Those were the names people thought of when they thought of Callie. She did too. She believed she was a drifter, just like her father. Someone who “wasn’t created to be boxed in or limited by anyone or anything.” "A Fire Dancer.”
Her life started to change when she met Davis and his son.
There’s a quote in this book which went deep into my soul, “If our decisions are based on false beliefs, then we’ll never experience the life we’re meant to live – the life God has in store for us.” Wow!
Nicole Deese has written a sweet story of acceptance, forgiveness, loss and love. There is drama, humor, colorful and whimsical word pictures. Ms. Deese truly has a wonderful way with words.
I highly recommend you pick this book up, and read it. It just might change your way of looking at thing.
I was given this book by the author for an honest review, all opinions are my own.

A New Shade of Summer ( Love in Lenox )
By: Nicole Deese
Wow, What a story, I absolutely loved it. I have read one other book by Nicole Deese , but hopefully I will be reading more by this wonderful author. Love her writing and she captured my heart right at the start and I was hooked. I did not want to put it down. The story and the characters, both were easy to read and well developed. Callie an artistic and she wanders from place to place. She comes to visit her sister and family for the summer. Davis, is a widower father of a preteen son, Brandon. Brandon plays a big role in A New Shade of Summer. I felt slo sorry for him and at times I had tears in my eyes. Sparks fly between Callie and Davis , but can both of them surrender fears to find love. These two have so much going against them. Would love to read more stories from Lenox.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the author, Publisher, and NetGalley, but I was not told that I had to give a positive review.

Would that I could give this book more than the allowable 5 stars. It was amazing! So full of depth and emotion. Deese has crafted characters that seem to jump off the page and live in the reader's heart. At least they did mine. You still think about them after reading the last word. Still you want to go back and read certain passages all over again. I have highlighted many passages that jumped out at me.
Told in differing POVs, this story captured my imagination from the very beginning and held me enraptured every single minute of reading. Worthy of the keeper shelf!
*I received a preview copy of this book. My review is my own honest opinion.

Enjoy another trip to the quaint and cozy town of Lenox in Nicole Deese's newest release, A New Shade of Summer. I fell in love with both the story and the characters from the first page...and have tissues handy! By the end of the book I was tearing up so much, I'd have to pause, wipe my eyes, catch my breath, then dive back in for more!
