This was intense! Obviously it plays on a parent’s worst nightmare, which helps with the fear factor. The action starts almost immediately and doesn’t slow down. I wasn’t that into Todd’s storyline, which is really my only complaint.

Hide and seek by Richard Parker.
When Lana and Todd win a trip to Blue Crest Adventure Park, their four-year-old Cooper is ecstatic, but when Lana goes to meet them, Todd is out cold, and Cooper is missing.
A brilliant read. Omg twisty. Couldn't put it down. 5*.

This is my first Richar Parker novel and I'll be honest although it was a decent book it sidn't grab me and haul me along that roller coaster ride that I was hoping for. I'm not sure if it's because American crime novels aren't my preferred genre at the moment or not.

In Jaxton USA there's been an attempted child abduction bang in front of the parents eyes and its driven the mum to her wits end. Being the one who stopped the attempt has made her so very safety conscious, she's so concerned that she's found an App 'Right where you are standing' which allows her to see local murder spots. Although why she would want to I don't know but we all react and respond to trauma in different ways.

Read for an honest review. Thank you Mr Parker, Netgalley and Bookouture

Hide and Seek grabbed me right from the start - intense, dark, and creepy! Richard Parker I was captured by thefirst chapter. This is every parent's worst nightmare - attempted abduction of your child right in front of your eyes. But the story doesn't end there - it's only the beginning!

Hide and Seek was a fast-paced and well-written thriller that I couldn't put down. This was my first Richard Parker novel and it definitely won't be my last! This story will absolutely keep your heart pounding. It's time to buckle up for a wild, suspenseful, and nail biting roller coaster ride that really packs a punch! Omg,This book is absolutely AMAZING,fast paced, danger packed, gripping thrill ride from beginning to end. Highly Recommend!

What a creepy book this is. The story start off with a woman called Lana watching her son play in the back garden when a man tries to abduct him. She fights him off but he tells her he will be back and next time will be successful.

After this Lana spends the whole time trying to protect her son and find out who this mystery man is.

From there on the book becomes horrific for a parent as Lana tries to discover everything, and ends up with researching death sites and trying to find out what happened to her son and how to get him back.

This is my first book by this author and it certainly left me gripped. Every parents worst nightmare.

This book is exactly what it says on the tin; a twisted game of hide and seek with the life of one little boy on the line. While the story is standard the way it is delivered is thrilling and keeps you hanging on the edge of your seat until the final page.

Hide and Seek was such a nail-biter! As a mother, I can't imagine the horror and pain of someone taking your child. The main character Lana witnesses someone trying to take her son Cooper from the yard but she manages to save him from the kidnapper who eerily tells her, "tomorrow." Unfortunately, the kidnapper makes good on his promise because Todd is attacked and Cooper is kidnapped.

Thus begins Lana's obsession with finding her son and bringing him home. Some secrets come out about Todd, there are a million twists and turns, and this ends up being one hell of a wild ride! There were times I felt a little worn out with Lana and Todd's separate stories, but I kept plugging along and am glad that I did. This was a fantastic suspense/thriller.

*Thanks to NetGalley for providing this novel in exchange for my honest review.

HIDE AND SEEK is a fast-paced and well-written thriller by Richard Jay Parker, that is sure to please. It grabbed my attention from the get go. A parent’s worst nightmare…the tried abduction of your child right before your eyes!

Lana Cross would do anything to protect her perfect family but on a trip to an adventure park, they slip out of her sight. When she finds her husband, he’s out cold on the forest floor. Then the truth sinks in: Cooper, her four-year-old son, is missing.

The cameras don’t show the man carrying the sleeping boy and where he went. Then Lana receives an anonymous message, telling her to visit a local school.

The attacker is playing a twisted game, and one in which Lana must participate for the sake of her child.

Time is ticking and Lana must play the game well…in order to find her little boy before it is too late.

I have read other novels by Richard Parker and knew I was in for a treat. I was not disappointed, and the journey allowed the reader to get inside the mind of this evil abductor.

Many thanks to the Bookouture via Netgalley for my digital copy.

My kids might be all grown up now but "Hide and Seek" still managed to evoke that terror that is every parent's living nightmare, the abduction of your child. Immediately the book pulls you right in to the midst of that nightmare as Lana Cross manages to save her son, Cooper, from being snatched right from under her nose. But her nightmare is not over as the abductor promises "Tomorrow". What follows is the terror that envelopes Lana's life as she waits for "tomorrow" to arrive. She becomes obsessed with her own investigation into the man behind the abduction only to find herself in the middle of the horror of her husband Todd being attacked and her son snatched and this time she might be just too late to save him!

"Hide and Seek" follows Lana's unhealthy obsession with previous murder sites via an App named "Right Where You Stand" and through this Richard Parker gives us some of the creepiest settings you can imagine from abandoned schools and theme parks to the homes of those convicted of murder. You can almost hear the scary music play inside your head as you read. Lana Cross is a woman determined to find her son and she will stop at nothing to get him. She is a strong character and it was not difficult to imagine myself in her shoes!

Her husband, Todd, however has a secret and he is worried that this secret may lie behind the disappearance of his son. I'm not sure that this subplot was entirely necessary and for me the story would have worked just as well without it. At times I found it a little bit distracting, however, it certainly added to the tension of the plot.

Twists and turns galore as you race through the pages willing Cooper to be found. Heart racing and gripping it winds fingers of terror around your heart as the bad guys reveal just how bad they are. A perfectly paced read for fans of crime fiction who like to be scared just a little bit silly!

I don’t even know where to start with this book. As a parent it’s a scene that has played out a thousand times in my house and I think this book will stay with me for a long time. 4 year old Cooper is outside playing and suddenly he’s not there. He’s in the arms of a man that is fleeing from the family garden and is trying to put Cooper into a bag. I’m not going to lie I nearly put this book down because from the very start this hit home like no book ever has, and I’m not sure my kids will ever play outside again. I really don’t want to give too much away with this book because from the very first chapter it is packed with action and stuff that will make your head hurt and your stomach spin. But you just can’t stop reading it.
This is a fantastically well written book but it is very hard to review because I really don’t want to give anything away. All I can say is this needs to be made into a movie and I may never leave my children’s side ever again….fast forward 20 years to me at a restaurant table with my son on a first date……………I wonder if I could bill Richard Parker for the therapy they will need (“,)
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for a copy of this book to read and review

A fast paced thriller about a parent's worst nightmare that will grip you from the very first page and is impossible to put down. Hide and Seek takes its readers down a path littered with unease and tension until the very end. It would make for a great movie or TV series.

This book really got to me since I have a child close to the age of Cooper. When Cooper is 4 someone tries to abduct him from the yard. His mom, Lana, fights off the attacker only to hear the phrase "tomorrow" whispered to her. Lana and her family live in fear of tomorrow and what might happen. After the family wins a vacation they decide to try to get back some of the security and time they have lost.

Lana takes a phone call and when she returns her husband and son are missing. Her husband is found unconscious and her son is on video being carried off by a stranger until he disappears. Lana starts to get messages of clues that she needs to follow and solve if she wants to see Cooper again.

This was a good read and definitely keeps you guessing!

Not sure what’s wrong with me but I just cannot get into this one! Super bummed because I usually love the author and enjoy his books. I’m going to try again in the future because I think it’s just me.

After Lana prevents the kidnapping of her four year old boy she lives in the constant fear as the kidnapper leaves Lana with a chilling message “ tomorrow “ When they receive holiday tickets to an adventure park , Todd her husband thinks it will be a good change for them as a family . But Todd is attacked and Cooper is kidnapped making Lana’s worst nightmare come true. The police are involved but both parents refuse to take their help and try to rescue Cooper by following their own leads . With Lana following an app in which she believes the kidnapper is leaving her a trail; her husband follows a different route as he believes his secret is the one that led to his son’s kidnapping. It is a race against time to reach and rescue Cooper from the hands of a madman

The book is my first by Richard Parker and is a good action packed fast paced thriller. I would rate it 3 1/2 stars as even though there was nonstop action the two different plots did not work for me and some of the things seemed implausible. Overall though a fast read with some heart pounding moments

I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.
