The Engagement Plot
What a great idea! I can imagine the author sitting and asking herself, “what if?” What if a Christian decided to go and take part in a 'help a bachelor find a mate' television show? What if her reputation becomes badly damaged – to the point that she becomes a secluded laughing stock in the media and she is called “Holy Hanna?” What if so-called Christians attack her and tell her she is going to hell or that she should leave her faith because of the destruction she has caused? Then the bachelor has the unmitigated gall to try to come back into her life for his own benefit?
I do not like these “reality” shows that cheapen love, marriage and the future of a couple’s life. This story has an excellent plot that shows how just one fake relationship can start and carry forward. I really enjoyed the book. The characters fit well into the story. They have their own realistic faults and strengths to make a believable tale that moves smoothly along. I like how the main characters, Hanna and Will ‘dance’ around one another dealing with selfish and, at times, self-less reactions and actions toward one another. This doesn’t feel like a ‘fluff’ story for simple entertainment. There are thought provoking moments for any Christian to catch a lesson from -if one is open to a message God may have between the book covers.

When Hanna’s heart is broken by William after their appearance on a popular national reality show The Price of Love, she goes home to Minnesota, hoping the world will forget about her.

Nicknamed Holy Hanna on the show because she’s a Christian planning to save herself for marriage, Will ruins her reputation in one interview. Social media is brutal and the gossip follows her home, invading her life and making her miserable.

After months, just as she thinks perhaps the world has forgotten, Will shows up in the middle of a blizzard, asking her to forgive him and help him save his high-powered CEO job. The only thing is she will have to pretend the engagement is back on and hit the media spotlight once again. Will their feelings for one another resurface as well?

When their plans are sabotaged by a person determined to make sure Will fails, Hanna and her love must find a way to stay together and have a real chance at happily-ever-after.

This is a sweet read with plenty to make the reader think about the ways social media can affect lives and reputations.

Meeting on a reality TV dating show, “The Price of Love”, William stole Hanna’s heart and shattered it in front of millions of people. Now the big-wig CEO is back on Hanna’s home turf in Minnesota and wants her to forgive him? Is there a chance that she will forgive him? Despite her objections, is teaming up with William the only option to rescue her reputation? William regrets more than anything giving that ill-fated interview for the reality show.. He can’t change the past, but he’s determined to fix the future. Can he convince Hanna to forgive him and pretend to be engaged with him? Will they find true love? The media erupts with even worse accusations. Is teaming up and pretending to be engaged the only way to salvage their reputations? An attraction neither of them can fight off begins to surface despite the media frenzy that swirls around them,. Could this love run deeper than a scandal? Will old wounds tear them apart once and for all? With help from above can Hanna and Will find their happily-ever-after?

I was given a copy of the book by Netgear, however, the review is my honest opinion.

Ready for a weekend read that will keep you in stitches? This comedic rendition of the story after the story of the reality show Price of Love.
The set up of the series hero choosing the "Christian" contestant for his wife, even though she made her stance public and strong to the point of earning the nommer Holy Hanna. What William did in an interview immediately following the show, set the tone and setting for this adorable tale of the foilables of two people in love who don't communicate, and deal with fight or flight all the way to the alter.
This book was a great read and left me laughing and shaking my head time and again.
This book was provided to me for assessment and review through Net Galley.

This is a story filled with characters so many would be able to relate to, humor, clever dialogue that guides you through from beginning to end...and most of all God's grace laced throughout. If ever there was a story about forgiveness this one hits all the right notes.

I was enthralled from the onset by the relatable characters, a plot that was so true to life, but mostly a message that no matter how far we may fall away from the love of God, He will us pull back endless times. This was a real eye opener for me in my walk, saying I'm a Believer is just not enough, like Will and Hanna I need to let go and let His grace walk before me.

Ms Phillips is a gifted author who I've found can weave an important message about faith through a story and be delightfully entertained at the same time. She is an author to add to my watch list.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

I enjoyed this inspirational/clean/contemporary romantic take on "The Bachelor." The characters were true to life set against an interesting backdrop with that oh-so-popular reality TV theme.

I really did enjoy this cute book! I laughed many times. It was a quirky rom-com with a bit of well-placed drama.
It was a fun book to read, especially after a long, stressful day.
I look forward to reading more from Krista Phillips.

I don't watch The Bachelor or The Bachelorette. That said, I have seen enough of the show to have some idea of the shenanigans that are insinuated to go on behind closed doors. The Engagement Plot takes that show premise and drops a Christian good girl in the middle of it. Hanna chose to try out for "The Price of Love" but, after viewing the previous season, really didn't expect to be picked. Her values and virtue are way too sweet, boring, and straightlaced for what she imagines handsome bachelor, Will Preston, will want. When he actually chooses her, she is ecstatic. Could he possibly feel for her what she is beginning to feel for him?

This book was a joy to read. The humor plucked my funny bone repeatedly while driving home the truths of God's grace and His love for those he calls chosen. Fans of The Bachelor will see themselves in the camera wielding, fan letter - writing , stalkers that want a glimpse into the lives of their idols. The Engagement Plot shows what can happen when a few misspoken words destroy a reputation . Is there any way to get back what they've lost? Will and Hanna will keep you flipping pages to find out! I definitely recommend, but, be warned: don't expect to get much else accomplished until you finish. You won't want to put it down!

Lovely, lovely, lovely!!! I really enjoyed the book. It was funny but also had a lot of lessons in it. The characters were real and you could easily identify with them. I would love to read more books from Krista Phillips.

Hanna and Will meet on TV show which turns out to be a disaster for her and not all that good for him. He comes to see if they can do a fake engagement to get him out of hot water for the bad publicity the whole thing brought to his company. Hanna lost her teaching job over it. There is a spark there and whether they can ignite it into more will have to take time. The events just seem to go against them as they progress and can they get past it, that is the question. Hanna's faith is very important to her and Will has lost his when his sister died at such a young age. Can he find his faith again?

The Engagement Plot what a complex Christian dramatic book. You have a reality star who was humiliated on TV by The Bachelor. She is criticized by being a Christian. Later he realizes that this humiliating her was the biggest mistake of his life and he wants to make it up to her. This brings the two of them into faking an engagement to save their reputations. Will it work? Will she forgive him and let her heart to open up to him again and trust him? Will they finally find true love? This is an enjoyable read and if you are looking for that kind of book here it is.

Hanna Knight, a teacher from a small town in Minnesota, is living with her father after a disastrous experience on a dating reality show much like what most of us today recognize as “The Bachelor.” After the final episode airs, William Preston, the CEO who was the bachelor, responds with an ambiguous answer to a question about a weekend they spent together just before the end of the show – one that suggests the time spent was not so innocent. That one answer put the public view of Hanna’s values in jeopardy and she calls off their engagement.

William comes back into her life to ask for another chance. Sales at his company are slumping and his Board of Directors think that a reconciliation may change that. William turned his back on the church after a family tragedy when he was a teenager. Hanna is still steadfast in her faith. This, for her, is not a winning combination. She is not at all interested in a permanent commitment, but they agree to a fake engagement. But where will things go from there?

Pick up this book to follow their journey. At times I found the reading to be a bit sluggish, but it quickly picks up again. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley.com. My review is completely voluntary.

Enjoyed this book! Small town, morally straight woman goes on a reality love show and ends up falling for the guy. Guy sticks his foot in his mouth, acts like an idiot and things go south quickly. Circumstances he is trying to avoid lead him to her doorstep and trying to get back into her heart. The question is will she allow it? Or will his ideas and values change?

This was a wonderful Christian novel. I love the elements of faith and God in this book. It was definitely a forefront in their relationship and their own lives.

The storyline of this book was very interesting. I found it dragging in some parts and just taking forever to get through something but overall enjoyed it. I thought it was going to be more moments of the dating show but this was good too. It talked about the fallout between Hanna and Will. I was definitely curious about what had happened.

I love how Christian-like Hanna is but I found her annoying and she jumped to conclusions quickly. But this just made it more of a realistic book because people aren't perfect and I loved how she found that God is merciful and willing to give everyone a second chance.

I liked how Will was someone who had lost his faith in God but his journey to find it again was nice to see. The whole company problem was interesting and confusing at the same time. I guess I just don't understand company logistics.

This story was great and I loved the values in this book. Definitely recommend!

Sooo good!!! It’s just like a movie. I’ll admit when I first started reading I wasn’t in love with it. But I kept reading. The characters developed, the plot developed and so did my love of this book. Loved that it was sweet and salty and easy to read but at the same time made me laugh, want to cry, want to punch someone, sit on the edge of my chair in anticipation, and smile big smiles. There are deep themes of betrayal, forgiveness, redemption, love and honor in this book. It’s more than meets the eye. It’s unforgettable. I’m glad I kept reading. It’s a book I would read again just cuz I liked it that much!
I received a digital copy from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Will and Hanna met 7 months prior on a dating show sort of like The Bachelor/Bachelorette. She was dubbed Holy Hanna because of her beliefs in religion and obviously her non sexual experiences. Will is the Bachelor in the show, He is the typical good looking, rich, suave guy. It started off 7 months after the show where Hanna was humiliated and still angry with him but he turns up to apologize. They end up getting into a little predicament and decide to work together so their reputation can be salvaged or restored.

Overall, the storyline is my style except the whole religious thing. There were funny parts of the book where I found myself laughing out loud. I love a good Rom Com but the whole Christian referencing was kinda eh. Taking out the religious factor, it was a cute and sweet story. Will was definitely a great guy that needed to find himself. I would recommend for anyone looking for a soul searching, feel good book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Cute, clean, modern story of falling back in love after a meeting on reality TV. Maybe unrealistic, but enjoyable and has just enough "fantasy". Complicated enough to keep the reader interested, but not full of extraneous events that make the plot feel crowded or too farfetched. The characters are relatable and detailed; I felt connected to them though our situations are nothing alike. I found myself really hoping the relationship would succeed.

I’m going to start out by admitting upfront: I HATE the current proliferation of bachelor/bachelorette/married-at-first-sight type shows. As in, I growl at the TV when I see ads for them. Maybe that means I should have passed up on this one when I was offered it for review, but I had heard quite a few friends say they enjoyed reading it (even ones who don’t like The Bachelor/Bachelorette), so I decided to give it a chance. There were definitely some things I could appreciate about the story, and I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either.

I think there were two main reasons for that. The first was the pretend engagement, and the second was the way these characters dealt with being wronged. In the case of the former, rather than entering into that kind of a public deception, I would have liked to see the story explore how things would have proceeded had Hanna stuck to her guns and refused the pretend engagement. In the case of the latter, these characters seemed to struggle with holding grudges—at times I felt like Hanna was even reminding herself to hold a grudge (to try and stop her heart from becoming attached again).

To be fair, both of these aspects may have been deliberate on the part of the author in order to show that, no matter how much we stuff up, God can still use us. Hanna’s best friend Carly makes this point, and also the point about a soft answer turning away wrath, towards the end of the book. It’s true, and I can appreciate what the author was trying to illustrate; I just don’t think this was the story for me.
