Nina lives quite a sedate almost boring life for a single 28 year old - love is certainly not happening - but she is quite content, she is not going to set the world alight but then how many people do

Flossie is Nina's 84 year old grandmother and having recently lost her husband she is determined to get Nina to go on holiday to Turkey with her. Nina agrees thinking it will be a nice quiet break with her grandmother......how wrong can she be!

Flossie is far more outgoing than Nina and she is determined to get her to let her hair down a bit and have some fun......even if Nina is mortified by her behaviour!

A lovely story, full of fun and laughter - I absolutely loved Flossie what a great character - a must for the beach this summer

This is the first book by Lilac Mills that I have read. It was a very good book. It is about a 28-year-old woman named Nina, who really hasn’t experienced life or love. She considers her very routine and plain life to be nice and she is extremely content. One day her mother cons her into occupying her grandmother on a Turkish beach holiday. She goes along thinking she is going to be lazy and playing bingo. Man, she was in for a surprise when grandma lets loose. She is not prepared for chasing down her grandma. She finds her in all sorts of situations drinking vodka and playing adult games. It is extremely entertaining.
This book was so funny. Gran had me laughing so hard I was in stitches. I loved how the story moves on and develops into a little romance and then seriousness that breaks your heart. I cried a lot. This was a wonderful read. I think that it has a bit of something for everyone. Comedy, love, family and heartbreak. I highly recommend it.

Perfect summer holiday reading, this book is so so funny and incredibly easy to read. I was transported on Flossie and Nina's holiday as a fly on the wall, laughing at their various antics.

Flossie is in her 80s, recently bereaved but is determined to live life the to fullest. She persuades grand daughter Flossie to accompany her on a package holiday to Turkey which is where the fun starts. Nina couldn't be more different to her gran, she lives a fairly predictable life, and just hopes Flossie will be able to keep up with her on holiday.

Nina has very set ideas about what is or isn't suitable for an older woman, and its from that point of view, we see just what Flossie is capable of! If I told you the things that happened in the book, you probably wouldn't believe me, so I would urge you to read for yourself.

What I will say is is Flossie is cunning, wily, up for most things, and doesn't see herself as old. She is outrageous, unintentionally funny, embarrassing for Nina perhaps, but I would be proud to have a grandma like Flossie.

I don;t know about you, but the cover definitely drew me into this book, and the title is interesting. I won't explain the relevance of it but it does become quite apparent as you read on, a private joke between the two ladies.

I loved the hotel the Flossie and Nina went to, and some of the excursions they take are fabulous, I would have quite happily taken part in. Then there is the authors writing, some of the descriptions are brilliant, especially the scene involving an octopus, and also the scene involving Nina being terrified while wanting to scream at Flossie for the situation she found herself in!

My only regret with Elephant and Pinky Moon is that the book isn't longer, I finished it far too quickly, for it only took me a morning of sitting in the sun to read. I was devouring it with a massive grin on my face and think its a brilliant romantic comedy.

Thank you to Netgalley and Lilac Tree Books for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I really wanted to enjoy this book as it sounded like a perfect mix of summer beach read and heart-warming family drama. Sadly, I only got through the first six chapters before I stopped. Nina is a 28-year-old secondary school teacher, so I would anticipate some intelligence, but she's completely clueless to her gran's plans. The relationship between Nina, her mum and her gran is supposedly a close one, but at times Nina seems to know nothing about her. Her gran is a fun-loving character and I'm sure I would've enjoyed reading all about her antics in Turkey, but Nina is up-tight and unbelievably dull.
I really hate disliking a book, or writing a negative review, after all this author has achieved something I haven't, but honestly, this book just was not for me.
