This story was a real emotional roller coaster. It almost got me crying and I'm not one for tears. It made me think of some things in my life that could have gone another direction. It was written well and makes you feel connected to the characters.

“Season of You” is the first book I have ever read by Emma Douglas. This book is about Mina and Will. They have known each other for years however aren’t really close. Mina is a young widow who is also the daughter Music star who also died. So Mina not only greaves for her husband but her father and she is a bit of an introvert. Will is the exact opposite and has always had feelings for Mina since the day he moved to the Island to open a Distilary with his brother.

This book starts with Mina having a flat tire and her falling and hitting her head. The road Mina’s car is broke down on is not to far from Will’s Bar/Distalary. Will goes to see why there is a car sitting still on the road. Once will gets to the car he realizes its Mina’s and that she outside of the car and unconscious on the side of the road by a flat tire. Will takes her to the hospital and she is has a concussion and bruised ribs. All of Mina’s family is out of town and she needs someone to stay with her due to the concussion so Will stays the night.
Since the of her accident Mina sees Will in a different light. She takes him cookies as a thank you for helping her. Then she asks him to come to Thanksgiving with her family. They of course start bumping in to one another more often and spend more time together. The more time they spend together the more Mina’s feeling turn from friendly to desire.

This was a very sweet book. Mina finds herself and gives herself a second chance at love. This is dual POV with some sexy scenes. I did feel at times the book dragged a bit but the Author was trying to give the back story of Mina

I received a free copy for an honest review.

I enjoyed the writing style of this author as well as the characters (both main and secondary) and character development. This was a story that begins prior to Thanksgiving and ends at Christmas. I wouldn't say that the Christmas holiday runs the story; but, it does play a small part in the flow of the story. Cloud Bay is a fictional island off the California coast and I liked how the author wove some standard "winter" activities into the story where you would normally have to have snow. The main female character, Mina Harper, is still struggling with the tragic and untimely death of her husband from 3 years ago. Her family keeps pushing her to "get out there" and begin dating again. Mina was devastated by her husband's death and in no way does she want to feel that kind of pain again; so she simply keeps herself away from any situations that might endanger her resolve. Then fate/destiny plays her hand and takes that control away from Mina one cold, rainy night. If you want to find out what happens to Mina, you'll have to read the story ...

I found this book through the publisher and received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. And, honestly, I liked it. I’m not a huge fan of contemporary romance OR second chance at love, but this one worked for me. It is the second book in the series and I have not read the first. This book works as a standalone, but it would likely be helpful to have read the first book since the same characters and settings are involved.

As for Mina and Will, I never really connected with them. I understand Mina wanting to be independent and recognized for her own talent and not because of her famous father, but she spends more time talking about art and her upcoming exhibition than actually preparing for it. Does the exhibition even happen? I also felt that Mina spent a lot of time putting up reasons why she and Will couldn’t be together without focusing on the reasons why they could work. And, poor Will was willing to accept whatever Mina would give him – finding ways to spend time with her and going with a time limited relationship - without realizing he was worth so much more.

In general, this book is a fast holiday read and a solid example of second chance love, but I don’t think I’ll be returning to Cloud Bay anytime soon.

I enjoyed it and will spread the word. Good tale and well written. Thanks!!

I thought this was a lovely romantic story. It's the perfect feel good, holiday romance book to curl up with.
The pace of the romance was quite slow for the first half of the book which I felt was realistic and right for the characters and their circumstances.
My favourite character is Will. He has been secretly in love with Mina for years and finally has a chance to romance her. He is so kind and considerate to Mina even though she reacts irrationally to certain things. I thought they made an adorable couple.
I enjoyed the whole setting of Cloud Bay and I would certainly look out for more in the series. I particularly want to read more about Will's brother.
Reading the first book would have helped me understand the relationships in the story better. I didn't really understand Mina's family connections but it didn't impact my overall enjoyment of the book.

This subject matter of this book is heavy. It was hard to get into this book since from the beginning it was all about her dead husband and dead father and all the issues they had. She was living in the past and hiding out in her cottage or at the search and rescue facilities, it was just all she could focus on was the past and how alcoholism affected her. She didn't want to move on but just wanted to wallow away and live in the past. This book needed more fun or excitement in it, it was really a depressing downer of a book.

"A Season of You"
By Emma Douglas
St. Martin's Paperbacks

Contemporary Romance -- Release Date: October 3, 2017

Mina Harper is still grieving over the loss of her husband from three years ago, and she's in no way considering getting into another relationship even though she's still in her early twenties. She finds fulfillment in her painting and her volunteer search-and-rescue job on the island of Cloud Bay. Thanks to her rock star dad, now deceased, she and her siblings have been left a large inheritance.

One night on the way home from working the late shift, Mina gets a flat tire. It's dark, cold, and stormy, and as she prepares to change the tire, she slips and falls on the ice, losing consciousness for a while. Lucky for her, Will Fraser is a night owl and happens to see her mishap. He rescues her, taking her to the hospital to be checked out. Little does Mina know that Will has had a huge crush on her ever since he and his brother moved to the island five years ago to open their whiskey distillery.

Will finds this as a chance to get close to Mina as he helps her when she is released, keeping watch that she is okay. They are pulled close together due to the holiday season activities, and Mina warms toward Will, though she is fearful of losing another man she loves.

Mina is offered a showing of her paintings at a gallery, and out of the blue she asks Will to pose for her, though her work for the show consists of seascapes. There is something about him that entices her, and she just itches to draw him, sensing a mutual attraction.

A charming love story based around the Christmas holidays, "A Season of You" can be read and enjoyed anytime.

Such a beautiful romance about a young widow and the man who has loved her from a distance thinking he never had a chance. I loved this book! Highly recommend!

3.5 stars

This is the second book in the series & personally I think it would have been better if I'd read the first book. I did like the characters but I felt like I hadn't got the full insight into their back story. I always enjoy reading books set around Christmas so I definitely enjoyed that aspect.

Would take a chance & read the next book in the series

An emotionally satisfying and highly poignant romantic read, A Season of You is a gripping contemporary romance that is sure to bring a tear to your eye!

When Will Fraser had first laid eyes on Mina Harper five years ago, he had fallen madly in love with her. But there was just one problem: Mina was married to a man she loved with all of her heart. When her husband is killed in a tragic accident by a drunk driver, Will is sure that Mina wouldn’t look twice at a man who owns a whiskey distillery. Will realises that he has no choice but to keep his feelings for Mina under lock and key and try to move on with his life, but that proves to be easier said than done – especially when he rescues Mina from a freak accident. Will a Christmas miracle grant Will his heart’s desire? Or will are his feelings for Mina destined to remain unrequited?

Since the death of her husband, Mina has kept herself to herself and put all of her energy and effort into her painting and into staying out of the limelight that comes with being a member of a famous family. Mina thinks that her days of falling in love are well and truly behind her – until she is rescued by Will Fraser!

When getting him out of her mind proves to be increasingly difficult, Mina and Will find themselves giving into temptation and indulging in a no-strings fling. But as their feelings for one another escalate, Mina and Will soon begin to wonder whether their relationship has any hope of surviving…or whether it is destined to remain a casual holiday affair…

A terrific romantic read that is well-written, wonderfully dramatic and powerfully moving, A Season of You is an outstanding tale of renewal, second chances and putting your heart on the line that I just couldn’t bear to put down! Uplifting, enthralling and hugely enjoyable, A Season of You continues to cement Emma Douglas’ standing as a writer to watch out for!

This is the fourth book in the St Martin’s Holiday Romance set and it was enjoyable. Cute. Festive. Real. Passionate. Entertaining. And with a great ending. Mina has loved and lost before and she thinks she wants nothing more to do with love or men, even though she is still in her early twenties. Will has loved Mina from afar but has decided to keep his feelings to himself for she has already been through the loss of her husband, but when she has an accident outside of his distillery he rushes to her aide and goes above and beyond to show her that he cares. She is leery of him but she is attracted to him, so on Thanksgiving when he proposes a "project" where they enjoy each other’s company up until Christmas Day where they will then part ways with no hurt feelings, she can’t see why not. She does like kissing him, and drawing him, and imagining him in her bed so she agrees to his deal. Their relationship has highs and lows, drama and a few tense moments especially when she breaks things off with him a week early when he almost gets hurt. She feels like she can’t go through losing another man she cares about and if Will isn’t willing to change his dreams or life’s work then she has to cut her losses. How she wins him back in the end was sweet and well choreographed to earn his forgiveness. This one was enjoyable and sweet.

I enjoyed this book and I thought that it flowed very well.  I thought that the characters were great and worked so well together that it made the story.  This is the first book that I have read on the Cloud Bay series and am happy to say it can be read as a stand alone book but you would potentially get even more out of the series if you were to read them in order – 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 from me for this one – enjoy!!

I loved this book and this sweet story about the (second) chances in life.
When Mina lost her beloved husband to a drunken driver, she didn't plan to ever fall in love again. Life had other ideas and with Christmas around and Will, who has been carrying a torch for her ever since he saw her, five years ago, things might change, especially when Will comes to her help in the middle of the night when she has an accident. Fighting this attraction might not help and somehow, this kind of mess might just be the absolutely right kind of mess.
Both of them have to overcome their fears and as hard as that might be, it might be even harder to let the other one go.
I liked the way things developed between the two and I loved the convincing and likable characters and the way they interact. It was a rather slow but steady read, unhurried but and even when I was getting a bit worried, it did never occur to me that things might not turn out well, I just worried that people might get hurt even more in the process.
This is a book for cozy hours with a cup of tea and your most comfortable armchair, preferably in front of a fireplace - or anywhere else.

Having read and enjoyed the first book in this series (Need You Now,) I was intrigued by Mina's backstory and the setup of her romance with Will Fraser in this book. With knowledge of both MC's from the previous book, I already loved Will Fraser and rooted for his HEA. With widowed Mina's broken heart, he had much to overcome and fight for. Emma Douglas presented a lovely story with fun banter, sexy romance, and a very sweet ending. I have every intention of continuing in the series and reading about their brother Zach in the next book.

A Season of You gave me another chance to see life on Cloud Bay. I was still pulled in to the small-town island life. Laughs. Drama. Holiday. This was a sweet read for the holiday season and a look at a new couple on Cloud Bay. They were not new to the area but this was a different kind of romance. There were a few hurdles to overcome. There were some feelings to share and get over. There were some past issues to resolve. Mina and Will had a chance meeting years ago and now in present day they have another meeting that results in more. Will wants that chance to have the one love he’s dreamed about. Mina wonders if her chance at true love was a one and done.

Mina and Will get their chance to have some fun and see where things go for them this holiday season on the island. If you have not read book one in this series, no worries. There was nothing significant that you would need from it to fully enjoy this read.

I fell in love with this novel from the start! We have Mina Harper, who is the daughter of rock legend. You would think this would make her eccentric, entitled (or worse) but she is kind-hearted, loving and selfless. She is also broken over the loss of her husband, who was killed by a drunk driver. She is still so young but she allows her husband’s death to stop her from fully living. The only times she seems to come alive again is in her art.

Will is a quiet, reserved but gentle soul. He has always loved Mina but has put his feelings on the back burner in order to give her the time and space she needed. When he rescues her, he falls in love all over again and he knows that he needs to take this chance.

The pair take a short leap of faith – saying that they will give this relationship thing a short fling (they even set a deadline!) but they find that this is more difficult than they planned. They begin to develop stronger feelings for each other. Feelings that Mina is not yet ready to feel and she really struggles with this throughout the novel. A huge part of her is not ready to put her trust in another person if there is a chance she can lose them.

This was an excellent story from start to finish. It was full of hope, learning to trust again and taking that leap of faith regardless of how scared we are. It is a definite must ready novel!
