This is a great read for those beginning to understand wine, where it comes from, and what it has been to people over the years. Advanced wine lovers may find some of it mundane, but I think this is a well written book nevertheless.

It is a solid book discussing the history of wine and looking into the background of the vines. Generally I love books bout food and drink but I found this one challenging to get through. It was a little dry.

I received a free electronic copy of Adventures with Old Vines: A beginner's Guide to Being a Wine Connoisseur from NetGalley for my review.
I really think this is a nicely written and well laid out book for someone who is starting to enjoy wine and wants to learn more about it. This is a beginners guide to being a Wine Connoisseur. It teaches you how to build a wine cellar, how to store wines, how to decant your wine, tasting, judging, developing your palate, how to age wines, and even how to read a wine list at a restaurant. Then it brings you on a delightful journey through top vinyards and tells you about their top vintages.

This was fun! I enjoyed reading about Chilton's book. Lots of interesting facts about wine and how to invest in cases. Also some advice for tasting wines and how to pick good wines for dinner. I also appreciated learning how restaurants mark up or hide bottles (who knew?!). Good begginers book for learning about wine.
