Very interesting, powerful book. Yes, it is a cozy mystery. But it is more. This book deal with thorny issues such as domestic violence and mental illness. The reader will find the characters well done and be able to relate to them easily. The plot has many twists and turns. I was very surprised by certain elements. The book keep me reading far into the night. I highly recommend it. I will be reading more Ginger Barnes books.

This is book 8 of 10 in the TJ Jensen series. This book can be read as a standalone and I convey that as someone who has read other TJ Jensen mysteries. The characters are well developed, and the story moves along, TJ is called regarding an 'accident' involving her father, who is clinging to life and the likely actual target of the accident the judge who didn't survive. This is where the mystery starts because the police don't necessarily believe it's an accident, and look into the possibility of murder. TJ with the help of her friends tries to get to the bottom of things, in the small-town setting of Serenity having to cut their vacation short to do so. Kathi does a wonderful job with this book, and if this is your first read by her, not only will you want to read other TJ books, but let me encourage you to try the other books in her repertoire. Nice, clean, quick read, with a good plot and fun characters. I reviewed a complimentary copy and am providing my honest, unsolicited review.

This is a good clean cozy series that has a funny and endearing cast of characters. The story flows from book to book and you learn more about each character with each installment

I’m glad that TJ and family are back home, but hate the reason they had to hurry back. The characters in this series are so good together. So much fun is planned for the holiday and I love the way everyone pitches in to help. There is lots of romance going on and it’s fun to see how the relationships are playing out. It’s always fun to see the process TJ and friends go through solving the difficulties that comes along. Can’t wait for the next book!

Always fun to read a Kathi Daley mystery and this one is no exception. The story flows smoothly and the characters are enjoyable and continue to evolve as the series progresses, I received a copy from NetGalley and this is my honest review.

Perfect book to read over the Independence Day holiday week! Most current in the series that started with the most heart touching cozy I had ever read. TJ Jenson is an incredible character not just because she is raising her half sisters who are more than 15 years her junior (her Mom and stepdad died in a car accident), not because she is a devoted daughter and granddaughter who helps out with the family resort, not because she is a caring teacher and coach, or because she is a crack sleuth. Must be a combination of those things that make her an attractive character to many around her. This story is about all sorts of fireworks! There is the obvious ones related to the holiday, fireworks between TJ and the extremely "all good things" Kyle, there are the ones created between TJ and the new detective who is a "by the book, no civilians allowed" lady that means to keep TJ out of this mystery. TJ's vacation is cut short when she is notified that due to an auto accident her father is in a coma and his best friend, Judge Harper is dead. Now TJ feels she must discover who sabotaged the car and why.

Fireworks in Paradise is the 8th book in Kathi Daley’s Tj Jensen Paradise Lake Mystery series, and it’s another winner. Kathi Daley writes from the heart, and it shows. She is a prolific author with many active series, and while they are all different and have strong individual storylines, what they all have in common is characters with heart – and strength and compassion and integrity who will do anything for family and to set wrongs right. Characters who feel so down to earth and familiar you think you have known them all your life. Tj is one of those characters.

Tj is on vacation in South Carolina when she learns her father was in a devastating car crash – a crash that left him in a coma and family friend Judge Harper dead. When she learns someone cut their brake lines she realizes this wasn’t an accident at all, and she’s off and running to investigate. Not an easy task considering her friend and police contact, Deputy Roy Fisher, has a new partner who will not tolerate civilian interference. But Tj is brave and determined, if a little reckless, and she and her best friends are not to be stopped, even when Tj finds herself in danger.

It’s a good mystery, with the added bonus of a brand-new romance with her long-time friend, Kyle. In addition to her spunk, we get to see Tj’s softer side, which is fun to watch. And there’s also a little tie-in to another of Kathi Daley’s terrific series, the Writers Retreat Southern Mystery series: Tj and the clan have just returned from Gull Island.

I thoroughly enjoyed Fireworks in Paradise. Kathi Daley’s characters seem so real you feel you are spending a day-in-the-life. No pretense, just real people we can relate to. I received a copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley.

Fireworks in Paradise by Kathi Daley is the eighth book in the TJ Jensen Mystery series. Not having read any of the other books in the series, I think this cozy mystery could be read fairly well as a stand-alone book. The author does a good job filling in some of the back story so the reader doesn't feel lost wondering what has gone on before with the characters. It's a good mystery with strong themes of family and friendship, some suspense and a few action scenes. The characters are strong, likable, and realistic and of course, there is a sweet romance beginning to bud. I listened to an audiobook from the library and Coleen Marlo does a great job with the narration, making for an enjoyable listening experience.

I would like to thank Henery Press for granting my wish for a copy of this book.

This is a wonderful mystery series. This is the eighth book in the series. Tj Jensen has to rush back to Paradise Lake after hearing that her father, Mike Jensen, was in the hospital after being in an accident. An accident, that also claimed the life of Judge Harper.

When it is learned that the accident wasn't what it seemed, Tj decides to do some snooping. Tj has a nose for investigating and finding clues. Tj finds out that she has to tread lightly, because there is a new deputy with strong opinions about civilians getting involved.

While Mike is in the hospital, the family pitches in to help the festivities at the resort go smoothly in Mikes' absence.

After making a list of suspects, and learning that Judge Harper was looking into an old case, it may be that Roy, Tj, and Kyle have their work cut out for them. It may be more than one case that needs to be solved.

TJ Jensen comes home from a South Carolina vacation to find her dad in a coma. He was riding with his good friend Judge Harper when the brakes gave out and the car crashed. The judge didn't make it. It was discovered the brake line was cute so TJ and Kyle decide to investigate. Unofficially, they have Deputy Roy Fisher's blessing but he warns them to be careful because his new partner, Kate, is very by the book and doesn't believe civilians should interfere with police work.

Even though the circumstances were bad, TJ is glad they are back home for the annual July 4 celebration in Paradise Lake. She just feels bad that her dad will be spending it in the hospital instead of right in the middle of all the fun and activities.

In digging up a lot of various information pieces from the judge's files and other sources, TJ and Kyle soon have a list of suspects which they either talk to together or each take one and interview them. In the meantime, TJ's dad is doing well and is getting stir-crazy in the hospital, wanting to come home.

The last TJ Jensen I read was the second book so there have been a few things going on that changed a little between book 2 and book 7 but this book could still stand alone since the author is really good at explaining without going into too much detail. Most of the characters were familiar so it was like visiting some old friends again. The mystery was solved and everyone felt better knowing the killer would be put away for a long time.

I Love Fireworks!
I have read others of author Kathi Daley's stories, but this is my first Tj Jensen; both thoughts were considerations when I requested a copy from Netgalley. Since critical information from previous novels is recapped where necessary, I had no trouble plunging in and following the plot, which provided sufficient clues to work out at least some of the mysteries. (What? You don't try to beat the detectives to the solution? Hah!) In addition to some fun-to-participate-in detective work there are family concerns and a blossoming romance stirring, all culminating in a satisfying resolution to the story and sweet promises for more of the same. I am guessing that starting at this end of the series means you will have picked up on some spoilers for earlier tales but I have a feeling I will be seeking them out--had too much fun with this one not to.
Okay, I haven't mentioned the plot whatsoever. You will have read the blurb and I don't care to offer any spoilers but if you saw this on an episode of Forensic Files you'd be nodding your head and saying, "Uh, huh! That's right!" as the heroine's tenacity in the face of the tedium of legwork is rewarded with clues. You don't have to experience said tedium yourself, however, as the team gets together to compare notes and keeps you racing along ;o]

I enjoyed this book very much and Kathi Daley is fast becoming one of my favorite cozy mystery authors.
While on vacation, TJ Jensen receives a call to hurry home, her father was injured. Upon arriving home, she must spread her time between caring for her father & sisters, helping at the family Inn and all of the 4th of July scheduled events and is thrown into another investigation. She's determined to find out why someone would tamper with the Judge's car, causing the accident that hurt her father and killed the Judge, a close family friend.

This is the 8th book in the T.J. Jenson mystery series by Kathi Daley. . Each book is delightful and I recommend the entire series.
T. J. and Kyle cut their vacation short when a friend of theirs is killed in a car accident at home with his Father injured in the crash. They soon find out their friend , a judge, had the brake lines cut on his car. T.J. is determined to find the killer and begins to investigate. The sleuth takes many directions and proves to be a challenge for both of them while placing them in danger.
I loved this next in series. The author has a exciting writing style that is pleasing to the reader. The sleuth is always exciting in her books and the supporting characters all add depth to the story. I highly recommend this next in series.
Thank you for the ARC which did not influence my review. A not to miss for all mystery lovers!

When her father is critically injured in a car accident, Tj Jensen rushes back home from her vacation in South Carolina. She’s not home long before she discovers the accident that left her father in a coma and killed his friend Judge Harper wasn’t an accident at all…but who was the target and why? She’s determined to find out and bring the killer to justice.

Tj’s friend Deputy Roy Fisher has a new partner and she opposes letting a civilian be any part of their police investigation, but Tj and friends team up to figure out what is going on and track down the killer.

There are a lot of characters to get to know in this big, busy family and their community. And, with plenty of suspects to go around, Tj must figure out who killed the judge and why. If you enjoy a whodunit that takes teamwork to figure out, you may enjoy Fireworks in Paradise!

Although I have read books by this author, this was the first that I have read in this series. I found that the author was able to 'fill me in' on the characters and their relationships in a way that did not bog down the story. This is an easy to read mystery with twists and turns that I did not want to put down with interesting characters. I'm looking forward to reading some of the earlier books in this series.

Tj Jensen hurries back to Paradise Lake from South Carolina after hearing that her father Mike has been seriously injured in a car crash that also killed his friend, former judge turned mayor Harold Harper. Then Tj learns someone had deliberately cut the car's brake lines and wants to investigate while waiting for her father to recover. But TJ's friend Deputy Roy Fisher is working with a new partner who has no intention of letting Tj anywhere near the case. While navigating her newly begun romantic relationship with Kyle and helping out with the 4th of July festivities put on by Maggie's Hideaway, the trail leads TJ, Roy and Kyle to files in Harper's safe and several former cases where the judge may have second thoughts about the guilty verdicts. Is one of these people seeking revenge? Or was the car sabotaged by a ruthless developer who wants to build several properties in Paradise Lake but is getting resistance from town council, including mayor Harper? A romance between Harper and his newly widowed next door neighbor Martha Wilson may also provide a motive for the killer.

Although this is the 8th TJ Jensen mystery, this is the first one I have read. It was a quick read and an enjoyable mystery.

I received an eARC via Netgalley and Henery Press with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and provided this review.

Solid mystery with well written and developed character's. The romance triangle has be settled. The murder and trying to solve that along with family issues was the main the focus which I appreciate since it is a mystery and not a romance
