This was the third and final instalment in The Bourbon Kings series. All I can say is it was an absolutely brilliant conclusion to the series. Every question is answered and I didn't want it to finish. The characters in this series are so well thought out, the writing brilliant and the story is addictive.

Many characters you love to hate and some you really do hate, the emotions run high whilst reading this book and I am certain this is one series I will definitely re-read.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review.

Quite the entertaining read this book was. I have previously struggled as I guess I prefer the author's other work.
This book wrapped up the previous two and offered quite a brilliant conclusion. I feel I need to go back and start over. This story follows a family's saga, lies and love, success and struggles all intertwined making one great tale.

It's been a while since I last read a J.R. Ward book. In fact, I think it was The Bourbon Kings, the first one in this series, and I remember not feeling the love. As a result, she just seemed to drop down the list of buying priorities.....when I saw this one crop up on NetGalley though, I figured it was a good excuse to revisit the woman behind the incredible Black Dagger Brotherhood, and see if I'd been too hasty in my earlier judgement.

Turns out, I was.

Devil's Cut is soap opera fiction. It has bankruptcy, affairs, domestic violence, murder, complicated family relationships - and that's all in the first few chapters! It's train wreck fiction, you can't stop reading because you just have to know what disaster is going to befall this family next. It's one drama after the next, which makes taking breaks difficult because you have to know what's going to happen next.

A thoroughly entertaining read, and one hat has made me want to get back on the J.R. Ward bandwagon and see what books I've missed.

To be honest, I jumped into reading Devil's Cut not quite knowing what to expect as I hadn't read the other books in this series and although I found myself floundering and somewhat lost at times, this was still quite an enjoyable read.
Before Devil's Cut I had only read J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series which I love and so when granted the opportunity to read and review this book by Netgalley, I jumped at the chance.
At first, from the title, I had assumed that this book too, would have a paranormal leaning as previous books by J.R.Ward that I have read have done so and I was quite surprised to discover instead that this is a more mainstream, contemporary romance book about a family with deep, dark secrets set primarily in the sprawling estate of Easterly.
Even though I read this book as a standalone and was admittedly a little confused at times, I still really enjoyed reading the book. Just between us, I now also have a strong urge to purchase the first two books in the series, just to see what I missed.
I think fans of Linda Howard's books Shades of Twilight and After the Night would really enjoy this series.

An arc of this book was generously provided to me by Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review

Devil's Cut couldn't have been a better ending to The Bourbon Kings series! I devoured every second of this book, needing to know what happens, but at the same time not wanting it to end!

JR Ward is a winner every single time in my eyes.

Can't wait to see what she brings us next

I picked this up on the blurb and because I had never read a book by J R Ward, not realising that it was the third in the Bourbon series. However Ward gave enough background information and in-depth characterisation to suck me in right from the start. Definitely a big time soap opera of a book, with larger than life houses and people, this was highly entertaining and engrossing and I will certainly be picking up books by J R Ward in the future.
