This would be the perfect Christmas Eve book, but I think that kids will like it all year round. Since we tell kids to behave or Santa won't bring them presents, it could be used as a reminder to shape up

I received this arc from Netgalley for an honest review.
Little Hoo is back and just in time for Christmas. He hears what he thinks is Santa, his reindeer, and other Christmas sounds, but they always turn in to other things. This is a quick read for kids that love Little Hoo and the holiday season.

On Christmas Eve the little owl hears noises and instantly assumes they’re associated with Santa—the sleigh, the reindeer, so on—only to find it’s something more mundane. It’s all very cute and brings memories of gift anticipation.
The last page contains a surprise, but other than that there’s no real payoff to the story. He just goes to sleep and misses all the fun. Kind of a letdown.
The artwork is bright and blocky.

This is a simple read for the run-up to Christmas, featuring Little Hoo the owl, who hears lots of different noises outside. This book helps to show that not all noises (that can often scare little ones at night) are noises to be afraid of, which may be helpful for those that are having difficulty sleeping or have fears at bedtime. Each page is packed full of colour, and the text is laid out well with contrasting text colours to make it easy to read, as it stands out on each page. It would be nice if the book had ended with some of the noises actually being something magical related to Christmas, rather than dispelling all the magic of the noises; i.e. instead of saying that the bells are not Santa's sleigh, they belong to a cat, it might have been nicer to carry on the idea that the bells ARE Santa. I felt that the ending was anti-climatic (as much as it can be for a children's book) and would have liked to see more Christmas magic.

Merry Christmas, Little Hoo! Is a charming book about a small owl that instead of going to sleep is more interested in the noises going on around him… a sentiment that any parent of a small child can relate to. With it being Christmas everything he hears must be Santa, after all why wouldn’t it be?
Although it is a short story there is the opportunity to get the children involved in making the noises Little Hoo hears and getting them to guess what they think they might be. It is also a good book to encourage them to start reading for themselves.
Overall this is a great read for young children, which will encourage them to question things that they hear and to use their imaginations.

Merry Christmas, Little Hoo! by author-illustrator Brenda Ponnay. Colorful Christmas Curiosity. Join in the search for the source of curious sounds that ignite the imagination of the little owl Hoo during the flurry of Christmas—setting him on an exhilarating search for a sighting of Santa Claus within his parents’ tree house home and through its windows. Sweet story with endearing, cozy illustrations. Highly recommend to enhance a young person’s holidays. Though I received this freely from NetGalley, I would definitely buy this book as a gift to help spread the joy of Christmas. Thanks to NetGalley and Xist Publishing for providing this ebook for review.

I loved this little book! Fantastic colors to hold little ones interest. I love how little owl hears noises just like little ones often do.

This is another delightful entry into the Little Hoo series. It is Christmas Eve and Little Hoo is supposed to be in bed. Everytime he hears a sound, he assumes it is Santa, his reindeer or the elves. Of course it is often mom or dad. This book will give children a chance to predict or guess what they think the sounds are. The illustrations are wonderful. They are colourful and fun. This is definitely a book to add to the family Christmas library.

I adore this sweet Christmas book! The illustrations are bright and simple (in the best way) and will appeal to young readers. Little Hoo's questioning of each sound will also speak to a child's inquisitive nature. This would be a great addition to the home/public/school library.

Great story time potential with colorful illustrations and opportunity for little ones to make lots of sounds. Oodles of cuteness!
