Cute story for young kids! The illustrations were nice, too. The description of the book made it sound similar to a story I read way back in the 80's, something about a spaghetti tree, I think... Well, anyway, wouldn't it be nice if jelly beans did grow on trees?!

The story follows three girls who each eat a certain colour jelly bean each evening after their current supply has run out. This book was a nice story, easy to follow but there was nothing in it unfortunately that stood out to give it anything above a three star rating.

"Red! Yellow! Purple!", the search for colored jelly beans, through the orchards, to the mall and home again to Papa... and what did they discover? This was cute concept but it might have wider appeal if for the 4-6 year old audience if there was a blue added and primary colors were explored or secondary if it was blue added with the yellow and green. The idea of fruit and colored jelly beans could have been made since the garden was introduced. The illustrations of the items in the store were not clarified enough to explain the different types of product found in different stores; plus, the color concept wasn't flushed out, as in the kitchen items illustration. More colors would give more interest unless for a very young child. The concept was good but I wouldn't buy this for my grandchildren or preschool students. I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars.
