Do you know the song "The Wheels on the Bus?" Well transpose that tune to the words in the book...

"The children at the playground
Run, run, run
Run, run, run
Run, run, run
The children at the playground
run, run, run while they play."

This fun book will have active kids using their imaginations to be part of the fun that's happening at the playground too. The adorable characters, whoosh, hop, teeter-totter, climb, slide, rock, munch and slurp their picnic, just to name a few.

Their energy and smiles will bring happiness to those sharing the story together. The book encourages kids to get outside and play with friends transferring their pent up vigour for active movement in creative and healthy ways.

The book is a personal invitation to come out and play at the playground... the fun and happiness is contagious.

You already know the tune!
This is a cute book based on the well-known children's song; The Wheels on the Bus. As this just happens to be one of my grandson's favourite songs, it was perfectly suited to him and he was mesmerised from the start.

The illustrations were excellent, colourful and clear, if slightly childish.

There was a small issue of language here though, as none of the parents who read the book along with me, had any idea what a teeter-totter was, and everyone ended up substituting the word see-saw. Similarly, frisbee would have fitted the rhyme better than disc towards the end. Never mind, small niggles really, my grandson loved it and that's what counts.

Children are love rhymes and nursery songs. They are fascinated when the words change but the sound of the rhyme is the same. It is easy for them to catch on and join in.

This is a delightful story. It follows a group of children around the playground playing on equipment, eating and joining in with activities that are found on the playground until they fall asleep.

As a nursery practitioner this is a great book to read with children and get them to join in.

I received this ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
The children in the playground hop hop hop and rock rock rock and climb climb climb. They also do lots of other things. Sung to the wheels on the bus this book is great for read-clouds and storytimes. Lots of repetition make this a great book for learning.

This is another book that is very entertaining for children. The illustrations in here are very colorful, it really catches your eye. I can easily see this book as a good first reader book as it has repetition and would be very easy for a new reader to follow. It also has a very sing song feel to it when you read it.
I give this book a 4.5 rating out of 5. I would very much recommend this book to family and friends.

The Children at the Playground is a really fun little picture book that is set to the rhythm of "The Wheels on the Bus." I really enjoyed it and it is just perfect for active story times or to read before, after, or during a playground visit. I can see it being a firm favourite and being sung many times over! It has some lovely, bright images to illustrate the song too - 5 stars!

Kids play at the park and make sound effects. The book’s PR says this is set to the “Wheels on the Bus” song, so there’s a lot of repetition, especially of the noises; every stanza follows a pattern with the sound effect repeated so much it takes up half of the lines. At first it feels like a learning song, but after a while it smacks more of a lack of creativity.
The artwork is the most rudimentary I’ve seen, but that doesn’t make any difference.

The Children at the Playground by Tracey Cox. Illustrated by Dolores Costello. Xist Publishing. A fun, cozy, colorful read-aloud book for young children with lots of onomatopoeic words to sing or hum along with while they explore the playground of happy-faced children. Thanks to NetGalley and Xist Publishing for providing this ebook for review.

I’m not sure what I dislike most, the story or the illustrations. It’s a rewording of the Wheels on the Bus, but this time it’s the Children at the playground. I can see some using it at storytime, but I wouldn’t. Just not a fan. Sorry.

I love the concept of this book but it was stuck in my head how it went with the song "Wheels on the Bus" . I didn't enjoy that part at all.

Super cute book that young readers and toddlers will love. Following the pattern of the "Wheels on the Bus" classic, children will love the sing song nature of the story and the repetitive use of words and rhyme. The illustrations are cute and perfectly suited to the scenes being described.

I love singing with my grandchildren and the kids at school and church. This cute book is written so you can sing the tune from "The Wheels on the Bus" with the story. A trip to the playground and all the activities that entails are written about and illustrated with bright, vibrant colours. This book promotes outdoor play, playing with others and having fun. The repetitive words and the familiar tune will have children "reading" and singing along with you in no time. The text is age appropriate and easy to read. I am still humming the song long after reading it to my grandson this weekend. This book would make a wonderful addition to a family library or a pre-school or kindergarten classroom.

I read this to my 3 year old daughter but think it might be a bit young for her
I would recommend it to 1-2 year olds. Aside from this the book is well written and young children would love it

Super cute book! Also very nice to have more words to go with the wheels on the bus tune. Promotes out door fun for kids and playing nicely with one another. Very nice to sing to children. Entertaining while delivering great, positive messages to youngsters!!

I received a advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

This story in this picture book is set to the popular children's song, 'The Wheels Go Round'; it's impossible to read it without singing along! The book is fun to read (and sing!), the watercolour-style images are beautiful, and the text is big and clear. A great all-round book!
