Love, like life, is messy. This book gets it. Alison Winn Scotch's Between Me and You is a love story at once tender and funny and honest and most of all, heartfelt.

The structure of the book jumps back and forth in time and that device wasn't my favorite but I did enjoy the alternating his and her points of view. It was well-written and satisfying.

ATTENTION REESE WITHERSPOON: PLEASE MAKE THIS INTO A MOVIE IMMEDIATELY.

B+

I was unable to finish this book as it was full of cliches, claustrophobic, and the structure, whizzing seemingly randomly back and forth over the years of Ben and Tatum's relationship, was confusing to say the least. It did not seem to have been edited at all, although not even the best editor could have rescued such a silly story. The characters were not particularly likeable, the writing was mediocre, and the story was, I fear, tedious.

I am going to try this again. Not sure what happened to my first review.

This author took a distinctly different approach when writing this book. The story line hows two different POV (point of view) of a married couple. One's POV starts at the beginning of their story and the other's POV starts at the end of their story. I was left guessing until the very end on how the book would be resolved. I found this approach very intriguing even though I was confused a few times.

The story line was all about how a small misunderstanding can build and become a monster that breads more misunderstanding and miscommunication.

A great story that pulled me in from the very beginning.

I received an advanced review copy of this book from The Great Thought's Ninja Review Team. All thoughts are my own.

I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for my review. I am a huge Allison Winn Scotch fan and I have loved her books so I was really excited to get an ARC of her latest book. This is the story of Ben Livingston, a screen writer and Tatum Connelly, an actress. When Ben and Tatum meet, Ben's star as a screen writer is rising, and Tatum is a bartender who catches a break when he asks her to act in his award winning movie. While she was acting in his movie, they fell in love. As the story progresses, we see Ben's writing career slowly implode, while Tatum's acting career takes off like a rocket.

This story is all about power struggles: in their careers, families, and marriage. It was a very honest look at what it must be like for two very talented people to get everything they ever wanted, only to find they probably could have been happier with less. This story was darker than the other Winn Scotch stories that I have read, but a thought provoking story that is worth reading.

I loved this book! It even made me cry, and books rarely do that. I found the story of Tatum and Ben's marriage and its ups and downs to be so very realistic in many ways. I loved them both. Someone mentioned the part about 9/11 in another review and I found that chapter very relatable too. What a fantastic read!

Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing (my favorite...they always have good reads for me) for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. I have read all of the author's previous titles, so I was excited to receive her latest. I am currently loving when author's are giving different narrators, because you get to see how things can get messy when we assume we know what others are thinking, feeling, etc. This is a love story, but it's a story about love that is messy and real and goes through different stages. She did a great job, adding some twists I hadn't expected. I do not like romances, but don't mistake this for one...it's much more than a love story. Definitely read this- I think you'll love it.

Thank you to NetGalley.com for the opportunity to read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
I’m a big Allison Winn Scotch fan – read and loved all of her works so far. This one….. it took me a while to get into it because of my hatred for Ben, but the ending is so beautiful that is makes up for the groans when it was time for a “Ben” chapter. Her writing is so front the heart from both characters perspectives – even when the love is being pushed to its limits.
What I loved: The backwards/forwards alternating chapters were a little tricky in the beginning, but I grew to love Tatum’s moving forward asshe is moving up the ladder of success while Ben is going backwards as he slides down the chute of failure.
What I didn’t love: Ben – Even at the end I still think he’s a weenie with major daddy issues who couldn’t handle his wife’s success amid his own failures. Even though he’s a toad, he is Tatum’s Prince Charming (masquerading as a toad). I can begrudgingly accept that. I’m sure everyone’s significant other is someone else’s toad some time.
What I learned: Deep down I think we all have some kind of daddy issue.
Overall Grade: B-

Where do I start with this book? Love is messy. Sometimes it’s wonderful and equally awful but it’s pretty much always complicated. Ben Livingston, an aspiring, uber-talented recently single writer finds himself meeting bartender and aspiring actress, Tatum Connelly. There is an instant connection. They just click. Fast forward to Time Square and the perfect kiss, a promise of what is to come.

This story is told in snippets throughout the years. Tatum shares their story from the present and Ben gives his perspective retelling the highlights of their past. It’s romantic. It’s challenging. It’s painful.
Ben writes several well received scripts and is the toast of the town. While his star is rising the relationship is going well. There is a marriage and a son. Tatum Connelly the supporting wife, plays the supporting role. Then, the writing becomes stale and the mighty falls hard. He’s disappointed, disgruntled and has ego issues now that his wife has sky-rocketed into fame and is the most sought-after actress.

The disconnect between these two loving spouses grows and the chasm becomes wider. They both make mistakes leading to loneliness and contempt, love atrophies, evolving to reflection, contemplation and the hope of redemption. Will Ben be able to write a Hollywood happy ending?

I received an advance review copy of this book from Great Thoughts Ninjas. All opinions are my own.

An engaging read which is cleverly written by going back and forth in time from different perspectives. It's a love story between Ben and Tatum but also a story of how their lives developed and affected their relationship.

At times I found the characters were quite self indulgent but overall I was engaged and wanted to find out what happened next.

This is my first book by author Allison Winn Scotch but WOW- it won't be my last!

Between me and You is an emotional journey through a couples ups and downs in their marriage and careers. I sometimes have an issue with infidelity in books and story-lines, but Allison did an amazing job of writing this story!

I can't wait to read more from this author.

Oh Hurricane Irma...I may not have had power or clean drinking water for 7 days BUT....I had this book!! What a wonderful distraction. I cannot gush about this one enough. Truly my favorite by Allison Winn Scotch so far!! I was given a copy of this ARC from the author and the Great Thoughts Great Readers Ninja Review Team for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

"How do you divide a lifetime? Where do you begin. With the items that don't matter to each of you or the ones that matter most?"

Attraction, love, marriage - that's seems to be the easy part. Making your love of a lifetime turn into a lifetime of love...well that's a bit trickier. Allison Winn Scotch weaves the intricate love story of Ben and Tatum. One perspective is being told from the present and working back to the beginning of their relationship and the other working from the beginning to the present. The characters are so beautifully developed that you cannot choose a side in this one - although neither are perfect. We wait on the edge of our seat as the couple navigate though the trials of life, family, relationships, loss and adulthood. As I read each chapter, I visualized the Nora Ephron-esque movie in my mind (It would make an awesome movie, too!!). It is just one of those books that fully envelops you and sucks you right in until you cannot stop reading and mourn a little when it is done. 5 stars really isn't enough.

The story of a couple where the man couldn’t take the success of his wife and started cheating! I was not very happy about this, the writing is very good, the characters? Hum.. I don’t know. The story of a couple that apparently loved each other, he was a famous, insecure and selfish and rich screenwriter and an actress. Tatum is recognized by her talent and get very famous but Ben‘s fame fades. The Book is told in alternating voices and points of view and the end was a not what I was expecting. I would give these book 5 stars for the writing.

I need to preface this with saying that I love everything Allison writes. She has a way of making you connect with all of her characters, and this book is no different. Even though Tatum is an A list actress, and Ben a successful screen writer, I still felt connected to them. I felt the pain as they struggled to keep their marriage afloat. I felt Tatum's excitement over her career; I felt their heartbreak over their parents.

Even though we're not all celebrities, or rich, or famous, this book shows us that no one is immune to the struggles of raising a child in a world run by PTA/mom blogs, the struggles of keeping a marriage together when two people don't communicate, and the heartbreak that comes when family members are suffering.

I can't say enough how much I enjoyed this book. I am very thankful for the opportunity to read this via the Ninja Review team!

Loved this book. Author deals with relationships and their complexities in a very honest way. Not judging. She dealt with tough issues in this book ... 9/11 and addiction .. in a very raw and sensitive way.

This book is not for me. I don't read cheating in any shape or form.
The actions of the hero made me really angry. I love my wife but I'll sleep with my ex cos she's there for me!!!!
He feels ignored cos of her career so it makes it okay to cheat.... Absolutely not.

I received an advance review copy of this book from the Great Thought's Ninja Review Team. All opinions are my own. This book was hands down one of the best love stories I have ever read. I laughed and I ugly cried. I loved how the chapters alternated between Tatum and Ben and also how it was told by different time periods. As the reader, you get the entire love story, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I truly loved this book.

I received an advanced review copy of this book from The Great Thoughts Ninja Review Team. All opinions are my own. If I could give this book six stars I would. This is her best book yet. Her writing grips you from the very first page and envelops you until there's nothing but the story. You will abandon everything else like I did just to read this story. I absolutely need a copy of this book for my keeper bookcase. Don't start reading until you have carved out a chunk of time because I promise you will not want to stop reading until the last page.

Between Me and You was a wonderfully written story about married couple Ben and Tatum. I loved how each chapter went back and forth between Ben and Tatum which lead to the different view points that came together to form how their romantic journey started. This book gave me many emotions but I walked away feeling love, forgiveness and coming to the realization of what truly matters in life.
