Aim is the 3rd book in the "Circle of Justice" series. I have not read the previous books but the blurb said this book can be read as a stand-alone. I disagree. I was definitely missing the details and backstory especially on Grace and Ian's relationship. In fact, there was no detail about their friendship. The snippet about a kiss three weeks ago (in a previous book?) doesn't tell me how their feelings for each other evolved. There was no build-up or sexual tension. They were just madly in love with each other after a couple of weeks.

This storyline has been done before but this one felt ridiculous and unbelievable. And a reckless FBI agent?

"Usually, on my missions, I go in blind and wing it. I'm not a planner." - Seriously??? What FBI agent would be like that?

"Hell, Grace still cared for the guy, even after knowing he'd held knowledge of people being murdered." - Um, he's killed 200.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of L.P. Dover's "Aim" in exchange of an honest review.

This book was enjoyable. The story line wasn't something I had read before so that was fun to have a unique story in the day when everything kind of feels the same. The author did a great job of creating characters that were likable and that I wanted to see find their HEA. I think the story was well-paced and I enjoyed how it all played out. I do think there were a few gaps, but nothing that wasn't overcome. I enjoy this author and plan to go back and read the other two books in the series as well.

The third installment of The Circle of Justice Series focus on Ian Chandler, the Chandler twin who for the past few months has been flirting with the beautiful and reserved hotel manager in the small Wyoming town him and his brothers own a ranch at. When a series of hikers go missing, the town goes on alert, but it's when Grace disappears that all hell breaks lose. Ian is a hunter, trained to hunt and kill the scam of society, he'll stop at nothing until he has Grace safe in his arms. Grace knows how to survive. The daughter of the police chief, she grew up going camping, eating roots and plants in the surrounding mountains. Something she never expected to actually need in order to survive. But waking up tied up and blindfolded in a barn, while men discussed the terms of her demise, does things to a girl. And so she fought for her life and with Ian by her side she found the strength to figure out who was hunting her and together they fell hard in love. An intense romance full of suspense, action, sexual tension and unexpected twists.

I enjoyed book. I loved myself some Ian, and liked how he was with Grace. Could not believe how Grace's co-workers, totally forgot about her by the first day she was missing, and then when they found out that she was ok, they were crying? Hello, no you guys forgot about her, and Zoe was an embarrassment.. Did enjoy the story line with Daniel, and his cohorts, and even Lauren's story line, understood her hatred. I can't wait to read about Bryce and Reed.

This is my second book by this author, somehow I missed book 2 from this wonderful author, which I will get to soon but this can be read as a stand alone. Circle of Nine are a team of assassins that work covertly under the FBI. In this story Ian is tasked in finding out who is murdering women in his Wyoming town. Grace is the heroine is this story and though both have had some feelings for each, neither has acted upon it until now. Once Grace is kidnapped and escapes her kidnappers, she turns to Ian for help. They both work together and chase down the bad guys. Lots of action, suspense and finally getting the bad guys, Grace and Ian fall for each other completely. I really enjoy this author's writing style. She just draws you in and something about these men meting out justice, is just so satisfying. Loved it! 4.5 stars

Grace has been taken from the hotel she works at and is now missing, Ian will stop at nothing to find her including using his skills as an assassin.

I have read the other books in this series by LP Dover and this can be read as part of the series or as a standalone. I loved the mystery in this novel and the connection that Ian and Grace had even though they barely knew anything about one another. Great read and I look forward to reading even more by this author.

This is the 6th book I've read by this author but the first in this series and I have to say this is by far my favorite book my this author! It literally grabs you in from the first chapter and keeps you guessing right until the end!

I loved reading about the slow developing relationship between Ian and Grace; I'm glad that while they knew each other prior to this incident that the author didn't rush to bring them together. I loved Ian's protective streak and that of his brothers. It was as if they all wrapped around Grace to protect her.

Can't wait to read what comes next for the brothers!

Although part of a series, this can be read as a standalone. Ian has had his eye on Grace for a while. the attraction is mutual, however, the timing is off. they are both busy. Ian has his work with the Circle of Justice and Grace is running hotel. Also Grace has a little bit of a trust issue. The opening scene starts the action and things continue quickly. Someone plans an elaborate set up to have Grace murdered. Once she disappears, Ian will stop at nothing to get her back. the story is full of action and mystery with a quick romance thrown in. I enjoyed the original story more but this one follows a similar pattern. the characters are likable and the story was interesting. the reveal of the person who wanted Grace dead was a little bit of a let down. the connection was weak. there really was not enough of a background to make it believable. However, still enjoyable.

As much as I wanted to sit back and enjoy this romantic suspense featuring an FBI agent/assassin, it just didn't work for me. While Aim is the third entry in a new-to-me series, that isn't even what posed an issue. I'm sure reading the first two books would have provided more insight into the secondary characters and their history, but I had no problem understanding the dynamics between everyone and how they interacted. Instead, it was the believability factor that was seriously lacking.

I actually liked the overall premise and the sinister ploy behind Grace's abduction. There were some seriously twisted bad guys at work here. Unfortunately it was in the execution where it fell apart for me. So much of what happened seemed so implausible. I tried and tried to get past the unlikely events (and even unlikelier reactions) and just go with it... but I couldn't do it. After being abducted and facing a life-threatening situation, Grace seemed to bounce back in the blink of an eye and suffer zero after-effects. (Wouldn't everyone play a truth or dare card game the next day where the loser has to strip? Seems reasonable, right?) The "investigation" into the disappearances progressed all too easily and there was never a misstep or dead-end. Everything just fell into place with relative ease. Lastly, the relationship between Grace and Ian seemed to come out of nowhere. There was no build-up, just *bam* instant relationship. It left me confused and wondering if I had somehow skipped several chapters and missed all the development. I was unable to feel any connection at all between them.

I will say that I am decidedly in the minority in my feelings for Aim. It has a 4.6 rating at Amazon and 4.39 at GoodReads so clearly most people are loving this one. Unfortunately it just didn't work for me.

Brought to you by OBS reviewer Heidi

Ian Chandler takes his job as an FBI assassin seriously, ridding the world of lowlifes the law can’t touch. It’s more or less the family business, The Circle of Justice was created by his father and is now being carried on by Ian and his brothers. Nothing can take Ian off his path of mowing through ‘the list’. That is until he learns that his longtime crush, Grace, has gone missing! Now he will move Heaven and Earth to find her, and he won’t stop until those responsible pay dearly!

Grace has avoided dating ever since her ex-boyfriend cheated on her. Instead, she’s thrown herself into her work, always putting in late hours, and being available whenever is necessary. The good work has paid off as the boss’s son, Jared, invites her to meet him and his dad after-hours and mentions a promotion. However, she never makes it to the meeting. Instead, she is abducted from her work’s parking lot and taken prisoner to be hunted by an unknown enemy.

Grace must use all the skills she learned growing up from her police chief father to escape, before it’s too late! And, Ian ends up finding a disoriented and dirty Grace at his backdoor. He is filled with relief that she is alive and makes her protection his personal duty until her abductor and unknown enemy are found and dealt with, permanently.

This is the first book I’ve read from L.P. Dover and I knew from glancing at the acknowledgements, at the beginning of the novel, that she is someone that could entertain me.

“To my husband – Thank you for helping me with the Circle of Justice series. Your knowledge has definitely helped me. I’m starting to think you’d be a good assassin.”

I thought this was a likeable enough story. Ian, the sexy bad boy assassin and his hunky assassin brothers. Assassins with morals, if you will. And, the workaholic love interest, Grace.

I enjoyed the Chandler brothers quite a bit, especially the way they interacted with each other and always had each other’s backs. But I guess that would be a necessity in their line of work.

Unfortunately, I did think the book lacked a little of the zing I was hoping for. I found the romance between Ian and Grace was too easy and sudden. Grace is someone that was hurt badly by her ex. Hurt so badly, that she’s pretty much given up on dating altogether. Then, you have bad boy Ian; sexy tattooed, and flirty who always gains the attention of the females in his vicinity. I find it hard to believe all Grace’s fears about him hurting her go out the window so quickly just because Ian takes an interest. I was also surprised with how quickly Ian divulged all his (and his family’s) secrets … you’d think you’d keep the fact that you’re assassins a little closer to the vest when entering into a new relationship.

“Our closest friends tend to be the ones who betray us first.”

I would have also liked to have seen the characters and the story as a whole to have more dimension to them. That’s not to stay the story was bad by any means, but there are definitely areas where it could be improved.

I thought this was a decent read and it’s a pretty fast read as well, it could easily be read in a day or two. The concept of the Circle of Justice is an interesting one and is not your cookie-cutter romance novel! If you’re looking for something a bit different, it may be worth the read.

This book has murder, mystery, suspense and romance. Ian Chandler and two of his brothers belong to a special part of the FBI that hunts the bad guys that gets away. After finishing an assignment he gets a call from the local police chief of his home town in Montana saying that Grace Myers has disappeared. They also find out that other people have disappeared as well. Now Grace has woken up from being knocked out and recognizes the one voice in the barn with her and he tells her that they are going to kill him then her. First they let them go and then they hunt them down, like animals. When the person comes for him she does not know the voice but the man that was with her is gone shortly. Later she hears her boss from the hotel that she worked at talking to the one in charge and then her boss is no longer alive. While they are dealing with him she makes her escape and once in the woods as luck would have it she goes in the direction of Ian’s ranch. It is also the opposite direction of all of the other people who have escaped in the past. Almost two days later she is discovered on Ian’s ranch and he takes her in his home gets her cleaned up and tells her that they are going to let people continue to think she is gone for the investigation. She finds out that the reason she does not see him around town all of the time is because he is an FBI agent, she also finds out that the one time they were together with a group of people he enjoyed the kiss as much as she did. Now they are able to explore those feelings as well as continue along with his brother in investigating the disappearances. You as the reader are taken for a ride as to who and how many people can be involved. The person in her case was a surprise for me, but at the end all of the cases are solved which is good. You also get their continue love between Ian and Grace which adds nicely to the story. Overall a good book.

Wow, just Wow! I'm amazed more and more everyday on how many talented writers and authors there are. This book was the perfect combination of mystery and romance. I feel it can be read as a standalone but it does elude to other characters like you might already know them. I can't wait to go back and read more of the series.

I have read several books by the author. I received a free ARC from netgalley.com

All of the author's books have highly developed characters and involved plots. While she writes romances, she writes in several different genres. Suspense, mystery, sports, fantasy ... I love them all.

This book is about Ian Chandler, FBI agent and member of a secret society, Circle of Justice, founded by his father, to eliminate those scum who the justice system can eliminate. He is infatuated with Grace Myers, who works at the local hotel, in the town where he and his brothers have a ranch and call home. Returning home from one mission, he finds that Grace has gone missing, as have several men. Grace manages to escape and ends up at his back door. Now Ian and his brother, Reed, are going to keep Grace safe and find the scum who hurt her and eliminate them.

The bored "sport" hunter hunting man is not a new story, though it isn't a sport unless the prey is also armed. However, this story is not so much about the hunt, as has been in other stories, probably starting with The Most Dangerous Game, but in solving the mystery of who is behind the "hunting venture" and finding them and the romance that develops between Ian and Grace.
