I definitely recommend reading the previous books so you understand exactly what is happening in this book. It could be a stand alone but you would be lost about other connections without reading the previous ones.
This book covers Greyson Storm and Maureen Shadow. Grey is in charge of the Merc's and Maureen is a Biotechnology Engineer that he had kidnapped in a previous book in order to get her brother to do what he needed him to do. In the previous book you could see the tension between them but you never really understood why it was that way. This book explains everything!

I was iffy about whether I would like Grey after reading how he was in the previous books. I thought he came across as just a big giant jerk (putting it nicely!). I am soo happy that I was wrong! Yes, he does things that I don't necessarily agree with but they end up being things that need to be done. And it helps them all in the long run, especially Maureen. And there were times when I wondered whether he was going to do something just to get what he swore was all he wanted. I am so glad that I was wrong! Maureen seemed extremely innocent to me until I got farther in and realized there is much more to her character than that. Yes, she doesn't like violence but she also knows that sometimes it has to be done. That there are circumstances that exist that force their hands. Then you throw them together? It's like dynamite going off! They compliment each other in every way possible. Even while not always agreeing with each other they still manage to make things work.

I loved this story. These characters and this world that has been created are such a great read that it just pulls you in and I know I didn't want to put it down. This book pushed the main story arc even further along and while answering some questions it did raise others in my mind. I can't wait to read the next book and see where it takes us next!

One of my favourite series of all time. The Scorpios Syndrome is action packed with an exceptional plot. It sucked me and I haven't found a book so engaging for a long time. Ms. Zanetti can do no wrong in my opinion.

Greyson Storm all I can say he is on a whole new level when it comes to being a leader, an alpha. Leader of the mercs. They are brutal, ruthless but protective. They also have to adapt and the time has come to either align with the president or Vanguard. I know who I’ll choose. Greyson however is being a douche.

I loved Greyson and I hated him. He was a bit of a bully. He knows it won’t get him far for much longer especially with Moe. As Damon said Grey made a colossal mistake but I get him but he should have trusted Vanguard. Trying to put too many fires out at once doesn’t help. I loved his softer side.

Maureen Shadow is a scientist through and through. Focused on trying to feed the population until she is kidnapped from her desert lab to exploit her brother. Greyson has resorted to extortion but gets a lot more than he bargained for.

The ladies are the ones that will keep morals in the new world. The men just don’t realise what is going on. I liked Moe she is different to the other female heroines. She is slightly more vulnerable and sneaky. Well I love sneaky.

I always get somewhat antsy when I start a book in a series that love. Luckily enough it didn’t crush and burn.

This book takes place on the timeline of the other books. Book 4 and life after the deadly virus continues leaving everyone different. Some are stronger, some are smarter and some are just incredible insane. Just like President Atherton and his VP Lake. This plot added to the world that has been built and it gets better every single time.

My favourite side character. Atticus the old coot.

I was going to give it 4 * but I'm going with the full 5 stars. I need more of every one of what is to come and how things will progress of Damon and April. What will happen with Moe and the Mercs and Vanguard. So many questions that need to be answered so many books that are to come.

Wow what an amazing edition to this series. Having previously known that Greyson Storm , the leader of the Mercs had kidnapped Maureen Shadow ( sister of Raze ) it was oh so interesting to go back ever so slightly to see just how their relationship began. To say this book helps flesh out the bigger picture would be putting it mildly as not only is this about the couple but it's a book that really makes the Mercs pick a side.
We all know that the President is a total freak with insane ideas and his history as far as Maureen is concerned will definitely rub Greyson up the wrong way . Still it can't be denied that his troops have better weapons and yeah didn't Greyson join the Marines to protect his President and country? Yet Maureen is part of Vanguard and that means allying with Jax Mercury and let's be honest here these two alpha males most definitely butt heads!
From the first scenes it's so obvious that there's chemistry between the couple that is palpable. Maureen just doesn't back down and she's unlike any other woman that Greyson has ever met. Maureen might have been kidnapped but she most definitely doesn't have Stockholm syndrome, no she's a sassy confident woman who starts to see a different side to Greyson and it's a side she likes. Now here I hasten to add that at times Greyson makes tough decisions but he doesn't hesitate and I'm sure some readers might find his way of dealing with dissent in the ranks extremely violent but it's a lawless, harsh reality they face and he will protect what is his at all costs.
Each chapter starts with notes from the characters and it was so telling as even though they might not initially act on their thoughts it really helped bring forth a better understanding of how they truly felt. Now the word 'understanding ' brings me nicely to the crux of this book. It's a story that brings to light the three different factions and yes Greyson has his own personal agenda but it's interesting seeing the interactions between the Mercs and Vanguard. Jax and Raze have no reason to trust Greyson and actually don't but with Maureen's dilemma ( you really have to read this book!) it's clear things will have to change. Yet as the world goes to pot it's obvious that to survive huge and scary decisions have to be made . Still as this book ends the author has set in motion things that will alter what lies behind the barricades of Vanguard and I for one cannot wait for the next instalment as I'm pretty sure it's going to be a humdinger!
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

4.5 - "In the apocalypse, you gave me hope..." Stars!

The fourth book in Rebecca Zanetti’s Scorpious Syndrome series, takes us away from Vanguard Territory and plants Maureen Shadow firmly in Mercenary Territory and Greyson Storm’s cross-hairs.

IMAGE.

Having felt the previous two books offered little in the way of plot development for the bigger story arc, I am pleased to say that Zanetti finally takes steps to remedy that and start things moving along in Storm Gathering this book felt like it was a long time coming even though only two months have passed since the Scorpious Outbreak in the first novella.

"The rules have changed…"

Greyson Storm, and the Mercs have been enemies/competitors against Jax Mercury and the Vanguard people in the previous books, but a somewhat fragile truce came about in the last book, after events that happened with the President and the discovery of the first bunker. I will say you need to read this series in succession, as you are really going to struggle to understand the bigger picture of what is going on if you don’t, but Storm Gathering; because of things that happen in it is a book that I cannot tell you a much about the plot in too much depth, to remove the risk of inadvertent spoilers.

"Don’t cross me, blue eyes…"

As I said a lot happens in this one, and the author delivered it all around a sexy-hot coming together between Grey and Moe, the attraction between them, although vehemently denied has been simmering since he first kidnapped her and has kept growing the more time they have spent together. No surprise there as this is what I have come to expect, and what she excels at alpha; growly male, and sassy, confident, female. I loved getting in Grey’s head as well, and the Journal entries from various characters at the start of each chapter were great additions too.

She became more likeable every damn day, and he wanted her in his life. Every moment. Making it better.

But this time the book wasn’t just about the relationship between the lead H/h, which the last two for me mainly were. I loved the gradual building of the tentative friendship between Grey and Jax and the rest of the Vanguard guys due to the circumstantial changes as the story progressed, and the emotive ‘bro’ moments even bought a little tear to my eye. The snarky banter was spot on as well and the pacing of everything worked really well this time around. For a relatively long book it took me no time to read at all.

"I might have to kill you."

We get to learn a lot more about Damon Winter in this book too, as Grey’s second in command for the Mercs, he was pretty much in the thick of it with him for most of it. Rebecca has set him up well for his story to be told in Winter Igniting due for release in March 18. I hope that again like this book, the bigger story-line with the Scorpious Bacterium, the gradual degradation of living conditions in the cities, and the general need to move to more fertile and unpopulated areas for both groups keeps developing around it, it made a massive difference in Storm Gathering in that it felt like the main plot hiatus of the previous couple of books had come to an end and the action was firmly back in the foreground around the telling of the main couple’s story.

"I’m tired of dancing around this…"

Storm Gathering was the perfect reality break, hot and heated chemistry balanced with an intellectually stimulating plot and top off with enough action to keep you white knuckle reading.

If you’ve been waiting for Greyson’s story…
The wait is over. We finally get the background of the big bad military leader of the all-male camp fighting against the Scorpius Syndrome, and what a story.

It all comes down to choices, do you side with evil if it's your best chance for survival? Do you let emotions dictate your actions and what amount of humanity are you willing to lose to survive?

I flat-out loved Storm Gathering. Zanetti writes riveting, heartfelt and sexual charged plots that invest the reader in her characters.

I received this ARC copy of Storm Gathering from RAZ INK LLC. This is my honest and voluntary review. Storm Gathering is set for publication Sept. 19, 2017.

5 kickass stars!

I freaking love this series! Action, excitement and intrigue with passionate and intense against-the-odds romance all set in a dangerous and exciting post-apocalyptic world where the breakout of the Scorpius virus has killed off 99% of the population and the survivors cluster together in gangs in order to survive – fighting off rival gangs for territory and precious resources, while desperately searching for a cure, and working to rebuild civilisation.

Up until now, the books have been primarily set within the Vanguard group in downtown LA, but this book takes us to the Mercenaries – a group of military-like vigilantes who have claimed the beach area of Santa Barbara as their territory and who constantly battle but are also tentatively/sometimes allies of Vanguard.

The leader of the Mercs, Greyson Storm, is ex-Military, strong, enigmatic and ruthless. But we began to see a softer side to him with the introduction of Maureen Shadow (sister of Raze), who he took into his territory with the intention of using her biological science skills to investigate options for growing food… and to further his own secret agenda.

Maureen is an absolute spitfire. Intelligent and brave, she is furious at being dragged into Merc territory and essentially being held captive, and she has no intention of being quiet and compliant. She sasses Grey whenever he attempts to push her around, giving back as good as she gets.

But beneath all of that animosity, a sizzling attraction simmers. Grey and Moe want each other badly, they’re both just too stubborn to admit it, and the sexual tension is awesome!

“We’re having a problem right now, sweetheart.”
She swallowed, the fine line of her delicate throat moving. “Let go.”
“I’d like to.” He lied. “But you keep pushing. Just how far do you intend to take this.”

It all comes to a head one drunken night which ends up changing everything for both of them, and takes them, and the story, on a twisted, exciting and unexpected journey that I could not put down.

The action switches between the Vanguard and the Merc territories as the two groups battle and plot together and against each other. Both battling for control of new resources, they are forced to work together for the sake of all of their safety and their futures, and to fight a mutual enemy whose relentless pursuit only adds to the danger.

And in the middle of it all are Grey and Maureen. They want each other, and can’t keep away from each other, and God, I love them together! Underneath all of the surface-level hostility they have sensational chemistry, and they are hotter than all hell together.

“To make sure I’ve said this in the simplest terms, you’re mine. I’m keeping you.”
His? “I make my own choices, Greyson … You can’t have me,” she whispered.
His chin lifted, giving him an arrogant look that appeared natural on him. “Don’t challenge me, baby. Fair warning.”

But their emotional connection is also beautifully explored as they spend time together and get to know each other, and begin to open up and truly feel everything that is happening between them. I loved watching their fight to be together despite everything standing between them, and Grey’s alphaness and surprising sweetness towards the woman he is falling so hard for was just gorgeous.

Somehow, softness and fragility have survived the apocalypse. I’m not sure how to protect that.

Which, of course, leads to epic fireworks with Maureen’s brother, and resident Vanguard badass, Raze, comes into the picture. I won’t go into details, but the clashes between the two groups were absolutely fantastic.. The dynamics between the characters are awesome, and the shifting relationships between them are wonderfully developed as secrets are revealed, understanding is reached, and enemies become uneasy allies.

We get to check in with all of the characters that have featured in the books so far, and I loved every moment of it – seeing how things have changed and grown for them – but it is the scenes with everybody together just bantering and bouncing off each other that I truly loved.

“I’ve been working on it all morning, and I’m still trying.” Sami yelled back. “Bugger off.”
Jace looked at Tace. “Is she British all of a sudden?”
Tace shrugged. “We might’ve been role playing a bit last night.”
Jax groaned and held up a hand. “Stop. Just stop talking right now.”

And of course there is a fantastically kickass climax which had me holding my breath in anticipation, my heart pounding, and revelling in the awesomeness of it all. Seriously epic stuff.

To the death it is, then.

But even with all of that going on, the love story remains a focus. Grey and Maureen’s world is hanging by a thread and they have a lot to go through in order to be together. But time is still given to their personal journeys and the emotional issues that they need to deal with, and that part of the story is really beautifully done, giving us a gorgeous romance that had me swooning madly

“Whatever happens, you have to know, you’re it for me, Maureen Shadow. It’s only been you, and it’ll only ever be you. I promise.”

I loved this book. The blend of action, suspense, passionate romance, heartfelt emotion and laugh-out-loud humour is wonderfully balanced, and Rebecca Zanetti has once again given us an intense and exciting read that I could not put down. Her world continues to evolve and each book adds so much to the series, further developing the story and making it better and better. I can’t wait for Damon’s book up next!

Absolutely fantastic – 5 stars.

Sometimes it is so difficult to review these books, because honestly how do you put a label on utter perfection? I mean I read every books Ms Zanetti writes and I love them all!!!

This is the 4th installment of this post apocalyptic series and it definitely needs to be read in order to understand what exactly is going on.

This book is Greyson and Maureen's story and I must say I have been looking forward to Greyson's books since he was first introduced.. One never quite knew if he was going to be a good or bad person.

I loved Maureen too as she was pretty spunky. She had lots to say and did not mind standing up to both Greyson and her protective older brother.

Not much more I can say other that this is definitely a series you do not want to miss!!!

I just finished reading Rebecca Zanetti’s latest Scorpius Syndrome book, Storm Gathering and there is absolutely no way write a non-spoilery review. Highlighting my favorite parts will only give everything away. Suffice it to say, this book dramatically, and quickly, moves the overarching story forward. Longtime readers will be pleased with the twists and turns. New readers might want to start at the beginning. While technically it stands alone, this one is better read with history.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

Storm gathering is another great story in the Scorpius Syndrom series. I was hoping for the great story and it was. In these book happens a lot and is constantly happening. It is also great that the story is not predictable at all. Both Gray and Maureen are great characters, easy to like. Gray although toward the others is for me not so cold ruthless, like the previous Heros, from the start we see that Maureen is his weak spot, that this girl will change his life. He is a great leader, the great friend, and partner. Maureen that girl is soo funny I laugh so many times. She is strong, determined and I really liked that she stood up for her men even when everything shows that he did something against them. Their chemistry is hot, their dialogues great. The story that keeps you on the edge until the end.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

4.5*
Greyson "Grey" Storm and Maureen "Moe" Shadow are two of my favorite characters so far in the Scorpius Syndrome series.
Grey Storm, former foster kid to military sharpshooter has lived his life as a loner. After the Scorpius bacterium the world is a different place and Grey forms the Merc's a military like group. Maureen Shadow could be the only Biotechnology Engineer left after Scorpius to help secure there fading food sources.
Grey tracks Moe down at the lab she's working in and kidnaps her to help secure food for his Merc stronghold. There's something intriguing about the strong spitfire he's kidnapped. Moe's going to kill him the first chance she gets if she doesn't fall in bed with him first.
When the impossible happens Grey will do anything to protect Moe even if it means joining with the President. It's survival of the fittest. She might falling for Grey but not knowing where his loyalties lye she will back Vanguard and her brother with all that she has.
This is not a stand alone book and should be read in order.

Grayson storm is the leader of the Mercs. Maureen Shadow, a member of Vanguard, is biotech engineer determined to find sustainable food sources in the post Scorpius world. Grayson kidnaps Maureen in order to get to her brother Raze, whom he believes can get him in contact with the president. During their time together, Grayson develops feelings for Maureen, while she discovers Grayson and his group aren't as bad as their reputation makes them out to be.

I liked Maureen. Despite being kidnapped from Grayson and being afraid, she kept her head up and never backed down from what she wanted. She even has no problem standing up to her brother and Jax, the leader of Vanguard. Grayson is strong leader, trying to do what's right for both his people and the people of Vanguard, while trying to keep his promise to his deceased friend.

I recommend reading the series in order, as incidents that occurred in previous books are referenced in this one. Plus it will give you a better understanding of the characters and what's going on.

Storm Gathering is a great addition to the series a must read.

This series just keeps getting better! What an incredible and interesting post apocalyptic world the author has created for us. So many characters to love or hate or both at the same time. It's just so good!! The action, the romance, the sci-fi aspect; I just love it all!! This is my favorite so far! I would love to see a movie based on this series or a series on TV.
Greyson Storm, well he is just everything I hoped he would be and so much more than I thought he was. I just love his back story.
Maureen Shadow, Moe, is such a strong heroine. I love her! She is smart and strong while still being just a little bit vulnerable. She and Grey are perfect for each other. They may have a lot going against them but they are both strong enough, as is their love, to make it through anything and whatever else this new and challenging world throws at them.
Fantastic addition to this series! Bring on Damon's story!

I am loving this series. It is action packed, full of adventure, sexy times and love. Every time I crack one of these books open I am swept away into a world that is as fascinating as it is scary with intriguing characters and an interesting plot that keeps me fully engrossed until the very last word. I really enjoyed where the author took this book and can't wait to see where she takes us next.

If you love dystopian stories that are filled with adventure, action and hot sex do not hesitate to read this book and series you won't regret it.

This series is a really good series to read, I highly suggest reading these in order; these characters are introduced in previous books and it helps with the story. I look forward to each book and have reread some as well.
Grey has always been a mystery from the very first time he was introduced. No matter what he had done I have liked his character, he is a strong alpha and the leader of the Merc’s. He seems to be looking out for just himself, but on a deeper level he cares for all his men, men he has so selflessly decided to lead. So when he kidnaps Moe to use as leverage, knowing that her brother will do what he can to get her safely back, does Grey’s world change. Does it change for the better? You’ll have to read it to see for yourself.
Maureen aka Moe has been through hell since being kidnapped by the Merc’s, not necessarily all bad. I really like her character; she is a strong female, smart, and sassy as all get out. This in my book makes her an entertaining character. Even though Moe was kidnapped she was treated with respect by most of the Merc’s, Grey was very protective of her and wouldn’t allow his men to touch her in any way.
The chemistry between these two has been hot from the moment they first met and a rollercoaster ride till the end. You know what they say about how opposites attract? I recommend this book/series for anyone who loves a good apocalyptic sci-fi romance.

I've read every one of the books in this series and if anything it gets better and better with each new book. The world that Zanetti has built is fabulous. The world kind of reminds me of a cross between The Walking Dead and The Last Ship. This series is nonstop action with a lot of romance and science thrown in. Every time a new book comes out, I put down whatever else I might be reading and proceed to read nonstop till I finish it. I love that while some of the characters are definitely evil and some are definitely the good guys, that there are those that you're not quite sure which side they'll fall down on. This is definitely a series I recommend for those that love post-apocalyptic stories with a bit of heat in the main characters. You will not regret binging out on this awesome, awesome series!

The Scorpius Syndrome series keeps getting better and better! Rebecca Zanetti has created something special in her post-apocalyptic world. I have always liked her take on how the world ends, and she has an unique vision of the world after Scorpius strikes.

One of the things I really like about Zanetti is that she weaves her characters back and forth between books. Too many times, when an author has a series, they only focus on the couple in the current book, and you don't get to see characters you have become attached to in subsequent releases. Not the case in The Scorpius Syndrome series. I love that Jax, Lynne, Raze, Vinnie, Race and Sami are still significant characters. In fact, you see the start of Grey and Moe's story in earlier books.

I have to say, more than once I wanted to get Jax, Raze and Grey in a single room to smack them upside the head. That's when you know an author has created something special, when they can evoke strong emotions in their readers. Zanetti has achieved that, and more, here. I think my favorite line in the book is "The only way civilization will survive is if the women just take over. Duh." Cracked me and fit so perfectly with the story.

I don't want to give anything away, because this story is a roller coaster, but if this is any indication on the rest of the series, Zanetti needs to write faster!

4 1/2 Star Review.....

Storm Gathering continues on at the Vanguard and finally gives readers Greyson’s story. As with all Ms Zanetti’s books, Storm Gathering wows readers with the depth of world building and character development throughout this gripping tale.

Greyson and Maureen are intriguing with their very different backgrounds, and while they initially met under less than desirable circumstances, there is no denying the explosive chemistry that sizzles when they are within each other’s proximity. But trust is a fragile thing, and past experiences have left Maureen wondering who is her ally and who is not.

A wonderful addition to this already hugely successful series, Storm Gathering will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat and totally engrossed.

4.5 Stars

This is the continuation of the Scorpius Syndrome series. It takes place with some overlapping time period and then right at the end of the previous book. You will want to read the series in order. The first few books blew me away with both the premise and the strong characters. But this one? Greyson Storm is one uber alpha male. Who best to pair him with than a feisty heroine with a mean roundhouse kick? Moe was the perfect foil to derail the leader of the Mercs.

My only negative take away from the story is that I want the conclusion! Like right now?? Is there enough food? Can we have babies? Will their be a cure for the syndrome? I guess that's what keeps us all coming back. Ms. Zanetti has found a way to weave romance into a dystopian world where fear and survival are more prevalent than the possibility of love.

Give this series a shot. I was pulled into it dragging and creaming but so glad I took the leap!

As always, great to see the relationships from former books pop up again. Loved Raze and Maureen together. And of course Raze and Grey coming to terms with each other. Good bit of action and tension in this one as well.

Can't wait for more!

STORM GATHERING by Rebecca Zanetti is the fourth book in the Scorpius Syndrome series, a dystopian romantic suspense following groups of survivors following a global virus that killed most of the population and infected others.  Intense with a heavy dose of romance and heat this tale held me captive from beginning to end. Fans of hot romance suspense set against a dystopian world will love STORM GATHERING and the entire Scorpius Syndrome series. (full review to be shared on Sept. 19th @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

I never thought that I would look forward to an upcoming storm. But when that storm features a hero like Greyson Storm you better buckle up for bumpy heart stomping read.
Set in Apocalyptic times the need for survival is dependent on food and allies. Who to trust is vital. The old saying the enemy of my enemy is my friend seems to work in this world.
Greyson and Maureen are each trying to do the right thing. One is for love and family and the other is out for revenge. But when life throws Storm a chance at a future with Maureen his thirst for revenge may cost him his future.
Storm gave me tummy fluttering moments that I love to have when I read book. Since the first mention of Storm in Shadow Falling I knew I was going to fall for him hook line and sinker. Rebecca did not disappoint. All of our favorite Scorpius heros are back with the hint of more to come. All I know is that if the Apocalyptic times did ever come to pass, I'd want these heros on my side.
