Second in Melinda di Lorenzo’s Between The Sheets series, Lie To Me is witty, funny at times, and angsty at others. Despite being part of a series, really the only thing that connects this story with the others is the Between The Sheets magazine. Well that and the fact that these stories have the ability to make you laugh out loud at times and really want to hug and console the characters at others.
Audrey and Derek are specialists when it comes to keeping their secrets close to their chests. Neither planned on falling in love—each started out planning to use the other to do a job—yet that spark of attraction struck each of them from first contact.
I found this story so easy to read. I love witty repartee and there is plenty between Audrey and Derek. I also love those stories where the heroes dig themselves into bigger and bigger holes, and again this story fits the bill. Finally, I love stories that leave me with a smile and a bit of a chuckle once I’ve finished and this story worked for me in that way too.

What do you get when you pair one liar with one ex con? You get the sweet, funny, sexy Lie to Me. Audrey writes an undercover series, meaning no one knows who she is, her pic isn't on the website, etc. Now her new job is to get the what's what about new ex-con, Derek Stone. So she goes undercover as an image consultant to help him repair his image to the public. But, when she meets him and realizes that there is far more to him than what she (and the rest of the world) had thought, does she do her job write the exposé or does she follow her heart, come clean and tell Derek exactly who she is and see if she can pick up the pieces once he finds out her deception?

I wasn't expecting this to be as funny and likable as it turned out to be. The two of them together are humorous and witty, and sexy! And both so likable. I'm glad it wasn't the dark, angsty story I had thought it would be. If you're looking for something funny and sexy, 1 click Lie to Me today.

Unfortunately the book wasn’t for me; no review will be publicly posted so no ratings were affected in relation to it.

The second installment in the Between the Sheets series brings us Audrey Albertson, a journalist, who is undercover as an image consultant for Seattle’s most eligible ex-con Derek Stone. Little did Audrey know, once her investigation was over, she would come away with more than just the story that she expected.

When I started reading this book, I knew I would like it from the blurb. But I had no idea how much I would enjoy it. I found myself laughing in different parts and wondering what could possibly happen next. The author did a great job with Audrey and Derek’s story. I wasn’t ready for it to end.

What the world sees on the surface is rarely the complete truth. And that would be true for Derek and Audrey as well. Both are holding back secrets, each is telling or living a lie and they have so much to lose, or gain, when the truth is finally revealed. Life is funny, looking beneath the surface can show you a totally different perspective on what you thought you knew as truth.

In spite of the way this story is described in the cover blurb, I had a lot of fun with this one, several laugh out loud moments and I encountered some of the funniest, wittiest banter between characters that I’ve read in a while. While we’re aware of Audrey’s secrets from the start, Derek’s truth takes a bit longer to reveal. And when it is you’ll find the wait was well worth it.

I liked these characters, I had such fun with this book… and you should be reading it for yourself. I’d recommend Lie To Me for any Romance reader who likes to unlock secrets, enjoys banter and steam, as well as enjoying a really good story.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Lie to Me by Melinda Di Lorenzo is the second in a series by this author but the first book I have read written by her. Because it is published by Tule Publishing, I gave this book a chance. The plot is somewhat predictable there are a few secrets to be revealed during the story. Instead of this taking away the enjoyment of the story, I could concentrate on the characters and their relationship.

While I do not often like books where a character is misleading another this was a story that was interesting. This is a secret that is known from the beginning concerning Audrey being a image consultant. I understand the undercover part of Audrey Albertson work as a journalist but Derek Stone had already served time for his crime. So it seems she is wanting to write a “tell all” story but falls for the story guy. Well, it served her right.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

A fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed! Audrey, an undercover journalist has to get the low down on eligible ex con, Derek. She poses as an image consultant, to give Derek a makeover that the public does not hate. Both with secrets and lies, with walls that need to come down. Once the secrets come out can their relationship be saved.

Great characters that I so enjoyed. They will have you laughing out loud and rooting for their relationship to survive. This is the second book in the series of Between the Sheets but can be read as a stand alone. I highly recommend this as a fun quick read that you will not want to put down.

Lie to Me, book two in the Between the Sheets series by Melinda Di Lorenzo is an interesting title for this wonderful and funny book, but it doesn’t describe what you might expect. Undercover journalist Audrey Albertson is trying to get the scoop on the real story behind recently released felon Derek Stone, his secrets and the crime he committed. Derek is looking for an image consultant, Audrey, to change the way the world sees him, a man who stole over a million dollars. While these two spend time together they notice that there is much more to the other than what they see. Derek and Aubrey tend to play a game “Tell me a truth” allowing their walls to lower, sharing tidbits and secrets about themselves.

I really enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down, reading it in one day. Ms. Di Lorenzo knows how to tell a wonderful story and she drew me into this story, not letting me go until I read the last page. I definitely recommend this book to other readers.

Very good read! Enjoyed the storyline very much. It was unique and fresh. The characters are very well developed and the story had a nice easy pace.

Audrey Albertson is a journalist who is trying to get close to Derek Stone by posing as an image consultant. Derek was just released from minimum security prison and is facing outrage from the community. Audrey is suppose to help smooth things over. Spending time with Derek proves there is much more to the man then the public knows. As feelings between them begin to grow Audrey has a choice to make. Write the story and lose the man or come clean with Derek and lose the job. Will she follow her heart or her goals?

A recommended read.

This is the first time I'm reviewing a work by Melinda Di Lorenzo and I have two observations – she has a funny bone and she can be a playwright.

"Lie to Me" follows undercover journalist Audrey Albertson and Derek Stone, recently paroled white-collar felon who also happens to be Seattle's most eligible bachelor. After these two meets, there are lots of laugh out loud funny moments and internal dialogue on their respective POV. Derek and Audrey are on screen 90% of the book. The supporting characters are only there 10% of the time. Hence, my observation that this book should be translated into a stage play!

It is really a fun read. Audrey and Derek are lovable characters. It almost hurts to see it end because there won't be anymore pages where you can see them interact.

"Lie to Me" is Rated T for Teens due to adult situations. There is a sex scene in this book, but it is implied and not graphic.
