I really enjoyed this book! It was the follow up story to Bossed. I enjoy Sloane's writing style. I think it's cool that a guy can write romance. I didn't think about that fact while reading, but just commenting here that I like it! :)
Matt is the client of and friend to Ethan. He was enamored by Kelsey from the beginning but she wants nothing to do with him. Athletes aren't her type. But Matt is bound and determined to change her mind. The banter between them is fun and oftentimes funny. Kelsey plays nice because he's friends with her best friend and her fiancee. But despite outward differences, they actually have a lot in common. I really enjoyed the things he did to make her believe him and to fall for him. He knew he couldn't lay everything out there for her to see, that he had to be careful around her. Their story had some unique twists and turns and was one that I couldn't put down! I definitely recommend this book! While you don't have to read Bossed first, I would recommend it!

A beautiful love story showing how well opposites attract one another. Matt the hot baseball player is instantly drawn to Kelsey. He tries to make her see they are meant to be together but sometimes you can only go so far when the person won't let you in. Kelsey has been burned by love and is afraid to let anyone else in. She works at a music store and has no idea why a man like Matt would ever want to be with her. The banter between the two is hilarious and I found myself laughing out loud several times. I loved watching their relationship unfold. This book was written to perfection and the pace was perfect. Sloane has an amazing talent and his books really capture my attention. I look forward to reading more from him in the future.

Do men like him really exist? He loves his mother, adores his nephews and would be interested in a girl who adores records . I love a great story where the guy chases the girl but is respectful and gives her time to get to know him before he puts the moves on her. There is nothing like a little romance to go with the rock hard body and killer looks.

4.5 stars - Oh, how I love thee, let me count the ways.

A genuinely good guy as the hero, not some douche bag the author calls an alpha male to try and make me think a**hole is the new black
A uniquely-her heroine who’s true to herself, ready for the one, and, although she’s afraid to get burned again, remains open to finding love
Quality friends who have the H and h’s best interests at heart and actually give good advice
A HEA that is expected, but executed unexpectedly

This is only my second Sloane Howell read, but I’m all in. If what I’ve read thus far is any indication, if he’s writing it, I’m probably gonna like it. Well done, sir!

As much as I enjoyed this read, and although the heroine was all for it, I'm not a fan of calling a lady slut or whore while having sex. Alas, Scored gets 4.5 stars instead of the 5 it would have earned from me.

I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Bossed was my first Sloane Howell book and I have been anxiously awaiting Matt’s story in Scored. Scored is the second book in the sports series, but you do not necessarily need to read Bossed to understand what’s going on. I do recommend reading it though as it will fill in a few things (and it was amazing)!

I am totally in love with Matt. He’s a professional athlete so you would expect a cocky asshole, right? NOT AT ALL. The man is down to earth, sweet and kind, humble and completely truthful. Matt is the quintessential book boyfriend.

Kelsey is the fun loving, loyal and loveable girl next door who works at a record store and just so happens to be best friends with Matt’s best friend Ethan’s girlfriend (say that 3x fast). Kelsey and Matt have an instant, undeniable chemistry that makes this story just jump off the pages. The build of their relationship, the good times they have together, how Matt just knew Kelsey was the one, was an adventure that I thought was amazing.

Oh, and the sex you ask?? It was off the charts HOT!!!! I loved the fact that even though you know Matt is an alpha….those sex scenes are where his alpha REALLY showed ;)

Kelsey and Matt took this book to a whole new level as far as sports romances go and I loved it. I laughed, I swooned and I truly loved the relationship between the couple. This was one of the best sports romances that I have read.

Matt and Kelsey, music loving, best friends of perspective best friends/engaged couple. Chase, hook, and love. This was one sexy story of how to get a girl and block the world out, only to have it slap you in the face. Loved the banter and funny moments. I laughed so hard at him and Twilight.

Loved this story! Sweet and sassy read. Lots of funny word vomit. Kelsey reminds a little bit of Violet from Helena Hunting's "Pucked". Matty is a big ole softy romantic. Great read!!

Matthew is a super hot baseball star for his pro baseball team in Texas. The sexual chemistry between Matthew and Kelsey is unbelievable, but Kelsey’s not sure she is ready to have a significant other. Matthew has some tough career choices coming up and he knows if he tells Kelsey she’ll be gone, but he soon won’t have a choice. Will she stay with him? This is a hot book with lots of steamy scenes, but with true love thrown in. This was the first book I've read by Sloane Howell but it definitely won't be my last!

This was my first book by this author, I think I need to try others to see what he is like. This one was just not for me and I struggled to invest in the story. Kelsey and Matt, instant chemistry but hot and cold. I actually found them annoying.
I'm glad others enjoyed this story, so you can judge for yourselves.

Well this one really didn't do it for me. The hot and cold from Kelsey annoyed me, make up your mind. I understand that she had bad previous experiences, but come on, make a decision and stick with it. I don't understand what Matt really saw in her, and then his decision to decide which team he was going to, again make a decision, write a list if you have to. I just was not crazy about it, it actually bored me, after a couple of chapters.

When Matt and Kelsey met through mutual friends, there was something between them. But Kelsey who has been burned before and considers herself out of Matts league is not willing to explore that something.
Matt in a cocky but in a total swoon worthy way doesn't really give her an out, but at the same time is very considerate of her feelings. But there is something that Matts hiding from Kelsey, what will happen when she knows his secret ?
Scored was an easy read. I enjoyed the chemistry between them and the sexy times between them are sizzling hot. Scored was a sweet, sexy and funny read and I look forward to reading more from the author.

Another impressive book from Sloane Howell, his books never fail to capture my attention and keep me hooked until the very last page and this one was no different, I didn’t want it to ever end but it did and it ended perfectly!

Ok, so no spoilers from me. Just my thoughts on this beauty.

Kelsey‘s character is independent and won’t take s**t for anyone. After having her heart broken by the same type’s of men, she finds it hard to trust and it’s easy to see throughout the book. It’s so sad at times but you can understand why she feels the way she does. Seeing her interact with Matt for the first time was damn right funny, she’s super awesome.

Matt is a strong athletic man, he’s passionate and loves his family more than anything. He’s cocky and downright arrogant at times but you can’t help fall for his charm and watching Kelsey experience this is too much fun. Matt is extremely famous and has a face that everybody knows, he can’t walk down the street without being noticed and Kelsey is the exact opposite, she has a select few friends and spends her time in an indie record store doing what she loves most but they do say opposites attract, right? These characters sure did.

After meeting Matt and Kelsey in Bossed (Ethan and Jenny’s story, the first book in this series) I was extremely excited to see how their story would play out and damn, I wasn’t disappointed. Sloane Howell delivered, for sure!

The storyline was amazing, the sex was SO FREAKING HOT and the characters were amazing, it was fantastic! I love me a good Sloane Howell book!

Matt wanted one thing more than his upcoming contract...Kelsey Martin. She is unlike anyone he ever met before. She consumed his every thought and made him long for a future with her. Kelsey is skittish and is adamant about not entering into a relationship but slowly loses the fight she valiantly tried to hold. Her fall is bittersweet and Matt finds the one who completes him.

I like this book even better than the previous one in the series. Both characters were likable, I liked their chemistry and that tension you know is there when you both like each other but aren't entirely sure or know how to act.

Absolutely steamy and delightful. I stayed up late and read this in one sitting. Highly recommend.

Nothing better than baseball and romance. Matt needs to make his free agent decision to stay playing in Texas or get traded to NY. One would think that money would be the deciding factor in helping him choose, but the love of a wonderful woman is the one thing that is stopping him in his tracks. Through a wonderful storyline, the reader is taken on a journey of the love affair between Kelsey and Matt. Great strong dialogue and true honest character interactions make the pages fly by. I was so sad to see the story end but at the same time I was overjoyed to read the HEA ending as well as what the future holds in the epilogue. Overall this was a fabulous read and I look forward to reading more from this author.

This was quite an enjoyable sports romance, although the baseball sporting references were completely lost on me. MVP? Had to Google that!!!

This is the first book from Sloane Howell that I’ve read but found that Scored was easily read as a standalone without having read Bossed first, although it did make me want to go back to read Bossed to see how Jenny and Ethan got together.

I enjoyed to story between Kelsey and Matt but at times found their behaviour a little tiresome. I really liked Matt’s character but just couldn’t fully connect with Kelsey, for some reason.

Whilst the story was enjoyable, I did find the writing style a little choppy and chaotic at times which took away some of my enjoyment of the book but not enough to stop me from finishing it and making me want to read the prequel to this story.

First impressions are everything in life and should be applied to books too. A cover should portray a book to a point. It should convey the characters and the plot. A cover is the book’s first impression to people. I bring this up because of the cover of Scored. I can appreciate a half-naked man with a sultry smirk but the cover does not give the right impression of the book. Where is Kelsey and where is the mention of baseball, which one of the main plotlines in the book? Not there.

Speaking of baseball, this is the first book that I have read in which the main character is a baseball player. I felt that it made for an interesting read after all the hockey romances I have read lately. I was disappointed that it wasn’t mentioned more. The focal point of the book is Matt’s relationship with Kelsey. The baseball plotline was there but you had to dig through tons of sex to actually get to it.

This is a romance book, through and through. Actually, it should be classed as an InstaLove and InstaLust book. The first few chapters were InstaLust. The romance didn’t come into play until almost the end. If this was real life, I would say that Kelsey and Matt would have a shelf life of Kim Kardashian’s 72-hour marriage. But it is fiction and it was pretty fun to read, so no complaining here.

I liked Matt but I had to wonder what he saw in Kelsey in the beginning. He also came across as stalkerish when he was calling Ethan and demanding to know where she worked. I didn’t understand why he didn’t tell her about his impending trade. I mean, I could understand in the beginning because he was trying to get her to trust him. But after they were dating? Yeah, he should have said something.

Kelsey drove me batty during the book. I can understand why she had issues trusting men. I mean, I know that I would have been gun-shy if I found my ex in bed with a groupie. But, she needed to let down her guard a little. She was so flipping uptight. I didn’t blame her when she found out about Matt’s impending trade. But I did think that she went a little overboard with her reaction. Even Jenny (who I couldn’t stand in Bossed) said so. I did like that she was very sexually confident. She knew her body and knew what she liked. I liked that she was able to tell Matt and let him know what pleases her.

The sex scenes are what made the book in my eyes. If you like graphic sex scenes, then read this book. Matt and Kelsey bang like bunnies everywhere. They did everything from public sex to talking dirty to roleplaying. There were a few oops scenes thrown in. Like when Matt and Kelsey were getting it on at the museum and they knock over the Big Bopper’s coffin. Or when Kelsey sexted Matt but his friend picked up the phone and got an eyeful of boobs.

The end of the book took me by surprise because I did think that Matt was going in one direction with what he did. And don’t get me started on the epilogue!!! Talk about sweet and romantic!!

4 stars

My Summary of Scored:

My view of Scored was colored by Bossed, which I didn’t like. But as I read the book I could see how unlike the two books were. It is pretty rare that I give the 2nd book in a series a high score than the first one. Scored had red-hot sex scenes and likable characters. I could relate to both Matt and Kelsey and I loved reading their sexual exploits.

Will I reread: Yes

Will I recommend to family and friends: Yes

Age range: Adult

Why: Sex and language

I would like to thank Sloane Howell, Loveswsept, Random House Publishing Group and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Scored
