I've never read the actual book that was the original source material, so reading this graphic novel was all new to me. I see a trend of classical literature being adapted into manga and graphic novels, which I believe is a brilliant concept because younger readers in today's generation usually don't like reading classics. Overall, I really enjoyed this and the amazing illustrations.

A very accessible version of this lovely tale! The artwork quickly grew on me, and though I wouldn’t normally think a graphic novel would be the perfect format for Anne it really was!

What a wonderful reimagining of Anne of Green Gables! The illustrator did such a great job of telling the story with unique art style and detail. I hope they continue with the series as I remember the other books in the series were delightful!

I have always loved the story of Anne of Green Gables and I have loved most of the adaptations I have seen of the story and this graphic novel is no different. I loved that the story followed fairly closely to the original and the colors from the art was beautiful. The only thing that I didn't care for was the art itself, it just wasn't for me.
Overall, I would probably purchase this for my kids to read when they are older.

I wanted to love this reimagined Anne! I have an almost 12 year old daughter who hasn't met Anne yet, and I so hoped this would be a great way to introduce my reluctant reader to a favorite from my youth.

And when I first saw the illustrations, I was pleased. So quaint! So much color!

But once I saw the faces and read the dialog, so much whimsy seemed lost. In fact, it seemed so abridged, there were times I felt part of the story was completely missing. It just didn't seem to do justice to my beloved Anne. Maybe it's better for someone who is a new Anne reader and hasn't experienced the perfectness of LMM's original Anne. I just don't think I need her to be reimagined.

The classic story of Anne of Green Gables is brought to life in this stylistic and heartfelt graphic novel. The story is as charming as ever, and the graphic illustrations bring a soft warmth to the familiar characters. This is a good introduction to the series for reluctant readers; they will be intrigued enough to go back and read the source.

I had the opportunity to read this on NetGalley, but that didn't influence my opinion in any way.

I've been a fan of Anne since I was a child. I loved the made for tv miniseries with Meagan Follows. I read all the books, all the way up through Rilla.

Now, this is not a 'word for word' rendition of the book. This is a graphic novel imbued with the spirit of Anne even if it doesn't have every experience and every word. There are a couple small changes to the included experiences, but, nothing too earth-shattering. The illustrations should be appealing to younger readers who might find the Anne novels to old-fashioned to even attempt. I welcome anything that might make young readers give Anne a chance. I would probably even read a sequel if Marsden decides to make one.. lol

It's cute enough where someone who didn't know what it was about would even be tempted to read it.

I hadn't re-read this for a few years, so to connect with this story again via this graphic novel was a treat. It is a great story that never grows old and the illustrations just add another dimension to the story as a whole..

I am a huge fan of the original series. The kind of loyalty I feel to the series made me dislike the Netflix versions trailer on the spot. I hesitated before downloading this version from NetGalley but I decided to give it a shot due to the good reviews on Goodreads.

This book is the comic strip version of the first book where anne arrives at green gables. I liked bits of it but felt some more panels could have focused on other parts of the story, providing more detail than it did. I can imagine it would be extremely hard to condense such a well-loved piece of literature into a shorter version and the author and illustrators have done a good job in that sense. The only reason I do not rate it higher than I did is because of the length of time I have lived in that world and have a very fixed idea in my mind about the images , some of which could not be shaken. But for someone with an open mind, you should definitely try this book out!( Some of the illustrations are very good). Anne is an orphan mistakenly brought to the home of the Cuthbert siblings. Both Matthew and Marilla are good people with different approaches to life. This whirlwind of words who has landed on their doorstep lights up, adds colour and a whole lot of zing to the life of town and their inhabitants.

This beautiful adaptation not only does justice to the original, but does so in a way that feels unique. The illustrations are wonderful, and I didn't feel like the story was lost, eve though it was short. In fact, I would have loved for this book to be longer!

This graphic novel edition is nice. It sticks relatively well to the source. It captures Anne pretty well. Much of the art is simple, especially faces. What I really loved were the landscape pieces showing forests and flowering trees. Some stunning work there, I actually thought it was wasted space at first, but I actually found that it slowed down the rapid fire story from moving forward too quickly.

This graphic novel retelling of the classic children's book is one of the best I have come across. It is honest to the original and the lovely artwork makes up for a delightful reread. Loved it. Recommend reading it. Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity, as always.

This was a sweet and simple graphic novelization of Anne of Green Gables. It holds true to the original, but it is too abridged for me to truly love it. Instead, it just makes me want to reread the L.M. Montgomery's wonderful original.

A lovely adaptation of a favorite literary classic, perfect for reluctant readers and those who might find dense amounts of text hard to get through or intimidating. Lovely art and of course lovely content, true to the original.

Wonderful for fans of the original and new readers alike. It's a great way to introduce reluctant readers into classics of children's literature.

Mariah Marsden has taken the beloved Anne of Green Gables story, turning it into a charming graphic novel adaptation that captures the spirit of Anne Shirley. L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables along with the books that follow hold a special place in my heart, so I was thrilled to see such a beautifully done graphic novel come along.

I see a whole new generation coming to love this orphan girl who changes the world around her for the better. The presentation of the story is well done though it is difficult to convey all of the emotions of the characters within the novel in a graphic format. However, the illustrations give vivid life to the personalities of the characters as well as the place and time of the story. Everything about the book is on the mark. Kudos to Mariah Marsden and Brenna Thummler for taking on such a massive task..

This book is amazing! Now I understand what all the fuss is about. I kept hearing about "Anne of Green Gables" and that it is an amazing classic book, but because I was in a reading slump, I wasn't that interested. Until I saw this graphic novel on NetGalley..and because I discovered recently that if I start reading graphic novels or short stories, the reading slump is going far away from me.
So this is how I started reading "Anne of Green Gables", the graphic novel.

At the beginning of the story we meet Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, an old couple of sister and brother. They were living in Avonlea, in a place caled "Green Gables". They also had an old lady neighbor called Rachel Lynde who was spying on them every time.
One day, Matthew went to bring an orphan boy home, because they needed help. But instead, a ginger-haired girl with freckles and green eyes awaited him. He had no choice but taking her instead. All the way home she kept talking about this and that, and Matthew listened to her.
The first reaction Marilla had was to be dissapointed that a girl came an not a boy as they planed.
She decided to keep her that night but to bring her back the next day. But when she saw how special and different the girl was, she choose to keep her. A lot of things are happening. Anne is making a best friend, she makes a lot of mistakes (but learns from them), she saves a life and she is very strong.

When I finished the last line of the book I smiled. Although it was a short 230 pages story, I only think that it was a beautiful journey. Now I really want to read the classic version of this book, because I really loved Anne. I found some things about her that I resonate with. And it was a line that made me understand why we usually name objects or plants:
Marilla: "Where's the sense in naming a gerandium?"
Anne: "Well, you wouldn't want to be called 'woman' all the time, would you?"
I mean, seriously! The girl is amazing! Plus, I kept hearing about the line "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers!" Now I understand: Anne said that. I am so in love with this book right now and I keep thinking about it. It will be stuck in my mind for a very long time and I really missed this kind of bondage. That's why I'm going to buy the classic "a.s.a.p.". Full 5 stars! I truly recommend this.
