This is a wonderful read and you will finish it in one day!! I did!! I only wish I could give it more than five stars!
A simple life and I enjoyed getting to know the characters especially Loretta. I believe she's the peace keeper in the family. Her personality is wonderful!! I would love to have her as a sister!!
Fans of Charlotte Hubbard will want to read this beautiful story about a girl who is learning to find her way in the world after her boyfriend dumps her.
I think I would love to learn how to make rag rugs! Loretta gets to do this to help the family with their income.
I sure didn't like her dad!! He's shifty one!! How he got away with what he did I'll never know and for as long as he did! I kept wanting to see how he would get caught but he never did!
See, this is what I love about Charlotte. She can keep you hanging on the edge of your seat and wanting more at the same time!! She weaves a little bit of mystery in along with everything else that is going on in the story!
Drew is a sweetheart!! I enjoyed getting to know him and I thought he was perfect for a certain someone only he didn't see it just yet!! I loved seeing how he developed into the man I knew he could be.
I also loved the supporting characters. In my opinion they are what makes this story!!
I can't wait for ya'll to read this book! I highly recommend it!!
I received this book through netgalley and no compensations were received. All opinion are my own!!

This is the second book in the series but in my honest opinion, you don't have to read the first one, though you will want to after you finish reading this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Charlotte Hubbard. I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Simple Gifts series and it is Loretta's story. Loretta is struggling to find her footing after her ex-fiancé, Will, moves to Willow Ridge. He is all apologetic for letting her father run him off and marrying Molly on the rebound. Even though he did not father her twins, they were intimate and he claims he did love her. He wants to court Loretta, but she no longer has feelings for him. And then there is Drew, who is the father, but is trying to be a better man. He deceived many in the previous story, but Edith and Asa have forgiven him and he has his sights on Loretta. Loretta wants to teach rug-making and work at Simple Gifts, not be her dad's stay-at-home, old-maid daughter for the rest of her life. She wants a home, a husband and children. Her father, Cornelius, is still a tyrant, determined to have his way no matter what the cost. Will, knows his secret and is willing to use it to save the girls from his grip. I was cheering for Loretta to fight for her dreams while wondering at her courage, considering her background.

Fans of Amish fiction will surely fall in love with Loretta and most of the other characters in this book. I am enjoying the continuing saga of the Riehl sisters and the fortunes of Nora and The Simple Gifts store. I also enjoyed learning more about Rachel, the triplet that returned to Willow Ridge after finding about her birth family. Wyatt was another new character that brought another storyline to the book that was also very enjoyable and entertaining. I enjoyed how Charlotte Hubbard was able to weave all the various characters and their stories into an entertaining and enjoyable Christian Fiction Romance story.

Charlotte Hubbard is one of my favorite Amish Fiction authors. She weaves a story that will pull you in and not want to put the book down.until you finish.

This is a sweet story. It was quite a contrast to the Amish Fiction books I've read though. I wasn't expecting some of the drama in this book. It feels off in Amish Fiction. Nonetheless it was a nice story. Well-written. I didn't read the other books in the series but it wasn't hard to follow along although I wish I could have read them (or it) to better understand the story.

A nice easy read however the situation is complex as is most humans. Throughout, you feel you are learning something important and different. You get a lesson, and a new experience. Very well written and true to its Amish roots.

Crafting, such as rug making, has recently seen a revival among the "English" as the Amish call those who are not part of the Amish community and faith. But crafting, such as quilting, sewing, rug making, candle making, crocheting, knitting, soap making, etc have always been a large part of the Amish community. The women handle these works and they sustain their families.
The families in this book also deal with some heavy issues. Charlotte Hubbard handles these issues with grace and sensitivity in her books. The characters are diverse with many being easy to love and some, one in particular, is not so easy to love. Cornelius makes life difficult for his daughters, for sure and certain. Readers will enjoy following the lives of the daughters and their friends and love interests. Readers will also see what causes Cornelius to be so hateful. I highly recommend it to those who enjoy reading Amish and Christian fiction.
I am rating this book 4****stars.

Another Hit for Hubbard!

I so enjoyed Charlotte Hubbard’s A Simple Vow (first in her Simple Gifts series.) So when I had the opportunity to read her latest release, A Simple Wish, I was excited. But a question lingered: Could she pull off another good story? Unequivocally yes!

Loretta Riehl makes beautiful rugs for the Simple Gifts craft shop in Willow Ridge. After her breakup with Will Gingerich (the guy that married a woman who was pregnant with another man’s child), she’s ready for a change. Will, who is widowed, longs to change his circumstances and win back Loretta’s affections…if it weren’t for that Drew Detweiler!

Drew Detweiler has atoned for the sins of his past, and desires to make a new start with Loretta. But then he stumbles across Loretta’s cantankerous father Cornelius. Drew has his suspicious that there is more going on in Cornelius’s life than he’s letting on. After all, Drew does know a trick or two. But how will Loretta react when she hears the truth?

I was given A Simple Wish in exchange for my honest review. I highly recommend reading A Simple Vow first, as its storylines are heavily referenced (get ready!) A Simple Wish was a good, fun read. The characters and storylines are well thought-out and intriguing. It’s the perfect novel to sink your teeth into for a lazy weekend. Another hit for Hubbard!

Charlotte Hubbard writes interesting Amish fiction with complex characters and equally complex plots. First, there's Loretta Riehl, once engaged, but now she's trying to make the young man understand she just doesn't feel for him the way she used to.

Drew Detweiller is Asa's twin brother and finds himself intrigued by Loretta.

Edith Detweiller is Asa's wife and Loretta's sister.

Rosalyn is the other sister in the Riehl household. Cornelius is their father and he's in a perpetual bad mood. His demands that he be obeyed and his every whim catered to makes for quite a bit of angst and drama in the book.

A Simple Wish is Loretta's wish that she find love that will last her life and that her life will be filled with peace. Cornelius causes trouble with his daughters and then with the bishop and the other leadership of the local congregation. He's got the idea he doesn't answer to anyone but requires his family to answer to him.

Loretta's and Drew's relationship grows in spite of Cornelius' behavior, and in fact, Drew steps in to speak for Loretta with her father and make himself understood as far as how Cornelius should treat his daughters.

In the review of the previous book in this series, I was wishing that more of Cornelius' secrets would have been revealed. They were in this book, but not entirely. Charlotte has set this book up for another sequel. This is like reading the Mitford series by Jan Karon. The more books you read, the more you find out about the people who populate Willow Ridge.

Five Stars, Two Thumbs Up, and a wish come true.

My thanks to Zebra books for allowing me to read and review this book.

So, I'm going to start of by stating the obvious here, the cover of this book is so pretty that it demands attention. It certainly got mine.
I knew what to expect as far as the storyline went because this is the second book in the Simple Gifts series. and I was familiar with the characters, so I can't say that there were any surprises. There is one character that has matured which is to be expected and there is another that you will question his motives and behavior. I know that in future books that his secrets will be revealed to his daughters and the community of Willow Ridge.
I would suggest you read the first book in the series to get to know the wonderful characters in this series.
I received a copy of the book from Netgalley and have given my honest opinion

A Simple Wish by Charlotte Hubbard is book 2 of her Promise Lodge series. While it can be read as a stand-alone novel. I had not read book 1 and it did leave me wanting to go back and see what I had missed. Multiple story lines cross in this novel, but Hubbard is able to write in a way that it is not cluttered but easy to follow each.

Loretta is struggling to find her way since her former beau, Will, shows up apologizing for allowing her father to run him off and into the arms of another girl whom he married. Although they had twins, he is not the father as she was pregnant when she convinced him to marry her. Loretta’s neighbor, Drew, is the father of the twins but he has been desperately trying to become a better man and member of the church. Loretta, along with her older sister, is still at home and taking care of her father, whose temperament has become worse and worse since her mother passed. Loretta longs to teach rug-making at the local store and not be her dad's old-maid daughter for the rest of her life. Loretta just wants the Amish dream, a husband, kids, and home of her own. Her dad is determined to have his way no matter what the cost.

Fans of Amish fiction will love this book!

A Simple Wish is book two from Charlotte Hubbard's Simple Gifts series. I enjoyed the people of Willow Ridge. The story is a good, heartwarming and quick read. It, also, includes a sweet and clean romance.

I look forward to the book three in the series to see what happens next.

Though, it is slightly predictable, I would still give this book four stars. I recommend it to those who enjoy a light Amish story.

I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

A Simple Wish by Charlotte Hubbard is the second book in a Simple Gifts series. Loretta Riehl is surprised when Will Gingerich expresses his interest in courting her again. She no longer feels the same way about Will, but she has definite feelings about Drew Detweiler. Loretta is ready to spread her wings and get out from under her father’s thumb (and away from his moods). She accepts a position working at Simple Gifts craft shop owned by Nora Hooley. Nora provides a place for local crafts people to sell their goods and she provides guidance for the women in the community. Cornelius Riehl is a difficult man to live since the passing of his wife. Drew cannot help but notice that Cornelius makes numerous buying trips for clock parts. Drew is curious and sets out to get answers (maybe find out why Cornelius is so stern) with the help of the Hooley’s. He is hoping to help improve Loretta’s relationship with her father. But you know what they say about the best of intentions!

A Simple Wish is well-written and pleasurable to read. It has lovely, well-constructed characters and a beautiful, caring town. I do not recommend starting with A Simple Wish (you should start with Summer of Secrets). It would be too confusing for a new reader. There are numerous characters with convoluted relationships (Simple Gifts series is a spin-off from Seasons of the Heart series). It is nice to return to Willow Ridge and catch up with these great characters. There is just the right amount of humor along with compassion, love, caring, hope, suspicion, and worry along with much more. It showcases real people with complicated relationships and life issues. My rating for A Simple Wish is 4 out of 5 stars. There is some predictability to the story (mostly with the romance). It was nice to see Rebecca find someone to care about in A Simple Wish. The story talks about forgiveness which is difficult to do as we can see in A Simple Wish. I look forward to more books in the Simple Gifts series.

Charlotte Hubbard has done it again. I love her Amish inspired books and series. I normally d not read this type of book. I actually read books about as opposite as you can get. Paranormal is my usually genre. I first encountered Charlotte's book through another tour from Goddess Fish and I am so glad I did. When I chose the book during that tour I was hooked. Now I read everything by Charlotte I can get my hands on.

Charlotte's books are clean, wholesome, loving stories. They are written about the Amish but are not filled with religion like some Amish stories I have read by other authors. Each of her books I have read take your heart and head on the full gambit of emotions. You fall in love with her characters and feel like they are real friends by the end of the book.

A Simple Wish is the 2nd book in the Simple Gifts Series. It can be read as a stand alone but it is a continuation in a way of the first book, since the characters are the same with a few new additions. In the first book of the series Edith Riehl was the star. In this book her sister Loretta is the main character.

Loretta has decided it is time she takes a stand on her own life. She makes and sells rugs at a friends gift store. She has decided to also work for the store even after her Grouchy Father has forbade it. She also is starting a relationship with her sister's husband's twin brother Drew.

Drew if you read the first book was kind of a snake. But he has redeemed himself since coming to live in the small community. He has shown himself as a changed and man and has gained the respect of the community, and the eye of Loretta.

A few things and a few people want to stand in their way of happiness including Will. Will is Loretta's ex-Fiance.

Ok that's all your getting out of me. Go read the book!!

Sometimes I think there are just too many characters in Charlotte Hubbard's books. I can't keep them all straight until I'm several chapters in and then I still have to stop and think about who is who. The main focus of this book is Loretta Riehl and Drew Detweiler. Both of these characters are introduced in the first book of the series, A Simple Vow. Now, I have to be really honest and say I didn't like Drew in the first book and at the beginning of this book my feelings were the same. Charlotte Hubbard did a great job with this character and the way she developed him and let him continually change and grow throughout the book. By the end of the book, my attitude towards him had completely changed. I also liked the way the Riehl sisters grew some backbone during the book and stuck up for themselves against their father who seemed a bit of a tyrant. I didn't care for Cornelius and I really don't think we are done seeing what he is all about. I'm hoping not anyway because I feel there are more secrets to be revealed where he is concerned.

There is also a secondary storyline in this book concerning Rebecca, who was born Amish but then was raised English and now lives English among the Amish and is accepted by everyone. She meets and is attracted to Wyatt who buys land and is almost immediately accepted by the Amish community. I'm not quite sure that the Amish would be so completely accepting of this man and there is a big age gap between Rebecca and Wyatt. Eighteen years I believe it is and that is honestly a storyline I don't want to read. It just doesn't seem realistic to me.

The storyline is interesting enough and the pace is fast enough that this was an easy read for me. The descriptions made me feel as if I were right there in the story with the characters. I am looking forward to the next book in the series to see what happens with these characters and I'm really hoping the last Riehl sister, Rosalynn, will be able to find love as her sisters have.

This book will appeal to those who like Amish fiction that isn't of the "cookie cutter" variety. I would definitely read the first book before this one to really understand the characters and have a full understanding of what makes them tick.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are mine.

A Simple Wish
By Charlotte Hubbard

Charlotte Hubbard's new book A Simple Wish takes us back to Willow Ridge and the caring community that lives there. If you are a fan of this series or if you just love stories with that good old hometown feeling, you are in for a treat! A Simple Wish reacquaints you with the Amish, Mennonite,  and Englischers living there and how their lives are intertwined.

This book picks up a few months after Asa and Edith Detweiler's wedding. We get to know Edith's sister Loretta better. Loretta is unhappy at home feeling belittled and unappreciated. Can she stand up to her father and do what she wants to do? One of the wonderful things about the people living here is their ability to forgive. No one knows that better than Drew Detweiler, Asa's twin brother, who shocked the community with his deceptive motives. Fortunately for Drew, he got his act together and is trying to be on the straight and narrow with his new life, but will someone give him a chance to find the woman of his dreams? A new and wealthy thoroughbred breeder purchases land in Willow Ridge and sets his sights on his new property ...and Rebecca! Is he the real deal or is there something he is not sharing! And lastly, Cornelius, that curmudgeon, is up to his secretive tricks again. What is he really hiding and how could it affect his daughters? All of these questions are answered in A Simple Wish! Pick up your copy and travel to Willow Ridge, everyone is waiting for you!

I received an ARC ebook from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

The second book in the series A Simple Wish brings us back to Willow Ridge. Willow Ridge is a town known for forgiving and getting a new start. However, can they survive when a huge sin comes to light?

Loretta Riehl is happy making her rugs for Simple Gifts but she would be even more happy if she could find someone to love. When two men start to vie for her attention, will Loretta be able to choose? And when one is former bad boy, Drew Detweiler, will her dad approve? Speaking of her father, why does the he make frequent trips to Kansas City? And why does his mood get more surly with each passing day?

I love how the community comes together to help one another. Charlotte Hubbard brings us back to the simple life and love in Willow Ridge. I received a copy through Netgalley. The review was not required.

I seem to be in the minority of the other readers, so far, on this book. I truly didn't like it--couldn't even finish it. As a lover of Amish fiction, this one was just a huge disappointment for me. Loretta, goes against her father's orders and goes to work at Simple Crafts store. She is very disrespectful to him in both her actions and words. Also, both to his face as well as behind his back. This book just isn't in line with other Amish fiction I have read, and I have read a lot. She begins seeing Drew, who has a bad reputation and doesn't treat her respectfully. There is cursing in the book. Too many things going on with different characters. I just didn't like it at all. I'm truly sorry, but I could just not force myself to continue reading this book. I do try to complete each book, but could not make myself with this one.
I was given a free ecopy of this to read by the publisher, Kensington Books and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Loretta and her younger sister live with their amish father Cornelius Most of the time Cornelius is mean and grumpy especially to his daughters. Cornelius is keeping as secret from the community as well as his daughters. The community does wonder why Deacon Cornelius goes to Kansas City so often for clock parts. Drew is a former “ bad boy” and he wants to make up for his past mistakes and has changed his way. But he is a newcomer to the community and people are guarded in their regards to Drew He is t a twin to Loretta’s brother in law. Drew had tried to marry Loretta’s sister. Loretta wants some adventure in her life and has turned to Drew. Drew feels he and Loretta have a lot in common. Drew is respected for he had some talented upholstery skills. Will had twin children from a previous relationship but leaves the twins with his brother. Loretta had been engaged to Will but her dad had broke it up. Will wanted Loretta back and to become engaged again and marry but Loretta says no.Will is very upset with Loretta’s decision. Loretta makes rugs for the Simple Gifts shop she also works there. Then there is Rebecca who is one of a set of triplets. Rebecca is interested in Wyatt who is a farm owner. Rebecca was brought up english and Wyatt was surprised when he seen Rebecca in Amish clothes.
I had mixed feelings about this book. There was a lot of drama in this book and I don’t think that is normal in Amish stories at least not in the ones I have read before.I also felt there were too many plots or stories going on to make this an enjoyable read. This was suppose to be able to be read as a stand alone novel but I felt I missed out on a lot and may have liked this a lot better if I had read the other book[s] first. I felt Drew and Loretta's romance was rushed but I did love Drew wanted Loretta to have her peaceful happy family and life. I did laugh at times while reading this. I liked the plot or at least one of them. As I said there was things I liked about this book then some not so much. I think someone else will love this book just wasn’t meant for me.
