This is a continuation of this Plain series. I found the opening a bit confusing as I had forgotten some of the characters from the prior books. Some of the plot points are a bit cartoonish. However the second half of th3 book tightens up and is @ lot of fun and I read. Great mix of Plain people as friends and neighbors.

Willow Ridge is a place where one can start over with the help of the town without judgement.

Loretta and her sister Rosalyn are still living at home with their Dat after Edith gets married. Loretta wants nothing more than to find the love of her life but first she has to deal with Will, her ex-fiancé. Will, has moved to Willow Ridge to get a fresh start after the death of his wife. Can Loretta and Will put their past behind them and find love again or will a new suitor sweep her off her feet?

I enjoyed visiting Willow Ridge again and following the Reihl sisters through all the ups and downs is a true joy. Hubbard continues the mystery with the girls Dat which makes the book very meaty. I hope there is a third one coming soon.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington for an advance copy in exchange for a review in my own honest words.

A Simple Wish, by Charlotte Hubbard delivered as a solid 5 star book. I have read the previous installments in this series and this one stood up with the others. I would recommend this book as a stand alone or as part of the series..

Willow Ridge is back again! This novel can be read as a stand alone since a lot of background information is include throughout. But readers will enjoy reading previous books about the Willow Ridge community to get the full story. Loretta and her sisters are such sweet characters. Their grumpy, deceitful father is truly an unlikable character. This tight-knitted community works together with love, forgiveness and understanding.
This book was a delight to read! I'm looking forward to more stories set in Willow Ridge. Highly recommended!

A SIMPLE WISH by Charlotte Hubbard. Book # 2 "Simple.Gifts"
Loretta and Will are rehashing what her Dad had done to break them up.
Will further messed up by getting involved with Molly and her parents were anxious to get her married. Now he's left with twins, and trying to mend things. She moved on with another suitor Drew, or was that also a risky mistake. He deceived people also, and was a guarded newcomer. Drew feeels like they have a lot in common, and Loretta is wanting adventure.
This was a powerful story of young people, who have been deceived and trying to figure out their own lives. You will feel the emotions of each one, and wonder who will wind up with who. Readers will love this book, and will want to stay with it to the end. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion. I really enjoyed this book and the characters in it. So many Amish books come across in a way that these people are perfect and lead perfect lives and this book really allows you to see another side.

A Simple Wish by Charlotte Hubbard is a romantic novel which also deals with the issues of dishonesty and extreme grief.
Loretta was engaged to Will until her father interfered and ended the relationship. Will’s wife has now passed away and he would like to rekindle a relationship with Loretta. Unfortunately, she has her eye on bad boy Drew who Will believes will break her heart and possibly worse. Drew has a twin brother Asa and tried to pass himself off as Asa and marry Asa’s sweetheart, he also fathered twins with Will’s late wife though he again passed himself off as his brother while convincing her to become intimate. The twins are now being raised by Asa and his wife Edith, who is also Loretta’s sister. Drew has confessed his sins and been forgiven by the community though some are still unsure of him, like Will. Will Drew take advantage of Loretta or is his love sincere? Loretta and her sister Rosalyn still live at home with their very controlling father. He has never gotten over the death of their mother and compares the girls to her idealized memory which is a goal that can’t be met. Loretta decides to take a job outside the home a couple of days a week even though her father doesn’t approve. Will her father impose his will and prevent her from having a life of her own?
There is a lot going on in this story. The owner of the gift shop where Loretta wants to work is Mennonite so that is a bit of an issue for her father also. There are also English residents of the community and some who have left the Amish religion before baptism who still interact with their Amish families. I really liked the way the author showed all of these people working together for the greater good of the community; they point out to each other that it is the same God they worship. She also deals with issues such as the Amish hiding things they are not allowed such as cell phones and how the bishops deal with these infractions. I found the characters very realistic and easy to get to know; I wanted to hug Will in his grief. I felt a part of the community myself; they all seemed so real whether a good or bad guy. I give this book 5 of 5 stars and recommend it to everyone who enjoys Christian romance and learning more about Amish living.

I already cannot wait to re-read "A Simple Wish" by Charlotte Hubbard- as this was such a captivating and deeply touching story. I loved "re visiting" the characters such as Nora, Miriam and Ben, Rebecca and Andy, and now, the chance to be better "acquainted" with Loretta and her sisters. In the previous book in this series we met Loretta's sister Esther, and Drew's brother Asa. We saw that the girls father was extremely stern and harsh. In A Simple Wish, it starts to become clear what is causing his behavior and disappearances. Also, Loretta starts to put her feelings for Will behind her as Drew shows more and more concern and dedication to Loretta and that they can share a future. Loretta, whose mother has passed on, also blossoms under the encouragement and support of Nora as Loretta teachers classes in Nora's store. Readers are also given a close glimpse of Rebecca's slowly blossoming relationship with a newcomer to town who plans on raising Thoroughbreds. Where will this go for Rebecca? I invite fellow readers to read "A Simple Wish" and find out! You won't be able to put it down!
