An enjoyable (if formulaic) sport centred rom com). The characters were sympathetic and the dialogue entertaining.

DNF after 5%

Ugh. Barely into the first chapter, on page 2!!!!, and the H is described as having "six Magnum XLs in his wallet to get him through the night." *rolls eyes* When I read this line, I had a bad feeling.

Joe "Zoo" Zooker is supposed to be a major league baseball player. But good grief, he is not likable. Not to me, at least. I mean, come on, would you after reading this? These are some of his thoughts:

"Booze, babes, and sex would definitely come into play.... So many women. Ladies came on to him... He liked the attention. A lot. Space was tight. Whether intentional or by accident, female bodies pressed against him.... Arousal heightened his senses. He was looking for a weekend lover... So he kept on walking, sex foremost on his mind."

And this is just the first freaking chapter! Did I mention that already?!

I went on to read what was supposed to be the "meet-cute" for the MC's. I was hoping it would get better. But, no. OMG. It was more like, imo, "meet-the-asshole". I did not want to continue reading. At all.

Joe "Zoo" Zooker is not the carefree playboy with his party posse that he seems. Yes, he does not believe in marriage or dating even but does that make him a bad guy. Stevie agrees to come help her aunt run her dog daycare while she is recovering from a broken leg. Stevie wont give Zoo the time of day, he even moves in with her so his precious dog would be taken care of.

Angell has great style and got to see some of our past favorite couples with our Rogues and Barefoot Williams series combining into a fantastic book.

Yes, I think this is one of my favorite of the Barefoot Williams series! Stevie comes to town to help her aunt with her doggie daycare business and meets ballplayer Joe Zooker. He's a great player, on and off the field. He loves his lifestyle and doesn't intend to have a forever relationship. But the more time he spends with Stevie, the more he seems to domesticate himself. This book is full of romance, fun characters and has a lot of laughs. And dogs! Their is such great chemistry between Stevie and Joe "Zook" and I was totally charmed with their story.

Any book that includes baseball, romance, & a dog I'm going to read. And I love this series by Kate Angell so No Time to Explain was a no brainer to pick up.

Loved the story & the dialogue the author creates.

Another home run for Kate Angell

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Unfortunately I could not connect to either character which lead me to not invest my time in their romance.

This book was sooo adorable!! There was baseball, dogs and a slow burn romance...everything that I love. Joe Zooker has always been able to get any girl he wants; so when Stevie blows him off Zooker is determined to catch her eye. A fun, light read that kept me entertain until the end! Will be recommending.

An entertaining tale about the transformation of a party-hard bad boy of the Richmond Rogues baseball team into a contented and happy man basking in a loving relationship with his cupcake-loving other half.

Just not for me, I wasn't a fan of the MC male. He was getting on my nerves and was way to arrogant felt like the MC could do SOOOOO much better.

Joe 'Zoo' Zooker is used to women flirting and monopolizing his time when he's not out on the diamond. However, the gorgeous woman he interacts with at a bridal event doesn't seem all that interested and instead blows him off until she finds herself in trouble. Still, it's an uphill battle to win the smart-mouthed Stevie over. Will Stevie realize Joe is a good guy despite his womanizing ways before it's too late or will they lose their chance at happy ever after?

What a highly-entertaining, fast-paced, enchanting read Ms. Angell has delivered in this sixth book of her Barefoot William Beach series where the main characters were absolutely captivating; and the dialogue enthralling because of the heroine and her smart mouth and her ability to be able to resist one of Baseball's most irresistible players. The way this story started drew me into this story immediately, because it's palpable that the hero loves women and is looking for someone to share a good time with. However, it was from the moment that the hero and heroine met that had me amused, because Stevie has a smart mouth and acts like she's immune to the hero's charm, so he doesn't get the woman he wants.

As for the dialogue, it was absolutely riveting and had me totally hooked by the heroine's determination to be resist Joe, even though it's palpable she's not going to be able to hold out for long. Furthermore, I loved the main characters back stories, as Joe doesn't believe in happy ever after. He's more into one-night stands or spending limited time with a woman until he's ready to walk away. Yet, the heroine is hard to walk away from right from the beginning when Joe comes to Stevie's rescue. How long will it take Joe to win the heroine over? Will Stevie ever confess about her family situation that might send Joe packing, especially because of the competition he faces from a fellow player? However, what I liked most of all about the hero was his determination to win the heroine over, even though he's not interested in happy ever after.

While the heroine, she's hard-working, loyal, independent and I liked how much a challenge she provided for Joe with her smart mouth and her determination to resist the intense chemistry between them. I also liked how close she was with her family and that they would do anything for each other, which is proven by what she's doing for her aunt and the promise she made to her cousin. Yet, what I liked most of all was that Stevie decided to take a chance on the hero, because she's good for him and vice-versa.

Overall, Ms. Angell has penned an incredible read in this book where the secondary characters were just as entertaining as the main ones; the chemistry between this couple was strong; and the ending had me cheering for this couple's happy ever after, because everything worked out for the best when it came to good news for one of the secondary characters and Joe when it came to their baseball careers. However, it was how things turned out for the hero and heroine that I liked best about the end, because Joe does something very memorable for the heroine. Who doesn't love cupcakes? I would recommend No Time to Explain by Kate Angell, if you enjoy sports romance, the opposites attract trope, or books by authors Jill Shalvis, Tawna Fenske, Samantha Chase and Rachel Gibson.

NO TIME TO EXPLAIN is book six in Kate Angell's Barefoot William series. Baseball hotshot Joe "Zoo" Zooker is like a modern-day rake. He is unapologetic about his party lifestyle or the bevy of beauties who eagerly serve as his entourage. Several things have Joe stopping short of being too self-absorbed or too obnoxious to be likable. Joe is no debaucher of innocent maidens. He is always upfront with the women he entertains. Joe's major redeeming feature is the love he has for his rambunctious, and aptly named, rescue dog Turbo. Turbo helps Joe form a connection with Stevie Reynolds. Stevie is in town helping out at her aunt's doggie daycare.

Getting women has never been something Joe had to work at. Women are either drawn to his sexual charisma or his celebrity status as a major league baseball player status. Joe needs to work for Stevie's attention and to win her esteem. Because his sexual interest is so open and honest, there isn't any sleazy quality to Joe's pursuit of Stevie. After some beach fun, long talks, and yummy junk food, this twosome get to know each other better and a casual flirtation turns into a scorcher. As prickly as their relationship starts out, it never gets truly nasty. It's quickly obvious to both Joe and Stevie that denying their attraction will be an uphill battle.

NO TIME TO EXPLAIN has one bad boy of baseball and one spectacular love story. Nobody writes canine characters and stories better than Kate Angell. Although the secondary human romance in NO TIME TO EXPLAIN features Stevies's best friend Lori and her cousin Dean, it's the relationship between Turbo and Dean's dog Etta that steals the show. Anyone who has owned a dog, or even a cat, can testify that the occasionally inexplicable emotional attachments formed by animals can be fierce, and an incredibly sweet thing to behold. It's an ironic twist of fate when Turbo instantly takes to Etta. Turbo pines for Etta as fervently as Joe dislikes Dean. I eagerly await Kate Angell's next book.

I have been a fan of this author and series since the beginning. I really liked the story and the characters. What I wasn't a fan of, though we're the short sentences. They kind of turned me off a little. I guess that's just one of my weird quirks. Otherwise, this book was great!

A story guaranteed to leave you a fan of baseball (if not the game, then the hot baseball players), and what lies behind the fun doors of Doggie Day Care (you’ll find yourself laughing at the antics of the four leggers and their owners)...and a perfect blend of the two. There's plenty of sassy, witty banter, with a smart, fast paced, and clever dialogue...some scenes will definitely leave you breathless, with a sigh, and a quickly beating heart.

I have become an instant fan of Ms Angell's gifted writing. I found myself transport to a sandy beach in Florida, practically feeling the ocean breezes, and sand between my toes. Quicker than you can imagine, your immersed in a full scale baseball game that nearly has you holding your breath at the outcome. Never have I inexperienced so many diverse personalities, including the four legged kind, who will leave you with a smile in one "can't put down" story. I look forward to what this author has next on her story writing agenda.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

i don't know why i continue to read this authors books. they never get any better for me. for a beach read they are just so boring. there is so much buildup but then the resolution is a matter of sentences. for instance, the characters didnt even kiss til two thirds of the way through and didn't consummate their relationship until three quarters of the way through. i also found the concept of the "posse" really distasteful and the hero just came off like a frat boy. then he just proposes marriage out of nowhere and she accepts with no questions!? another minor issue but who the hell buys yellow underwear!? no women i know would ever want yellow underwear (to match her hair!!??)

I received this book after release day from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. Thank you for that!

This is a fun, sweet, sassy, funny, sexy romance! Throw in those dogs with personality-plus and I really enjoyed this story. Joe is cocky, sexy and arrogant but also generous and genuinely a nice guy. I love him!! Stevie is sassy and funny and not even the least bit interested in a player like Joe, that is until she sees what he is really like. I love her too! She is a very generous and caring person too so that is a side of Joe she really likes. And Super Zooker is Awesome!
Joe the bad boy and Stevie the good girl may not have been looking for each other but their chemistry could not be denied and what they find together ends up being so amazing and real!
Kate Angell pitches another no-hitter with this amazing series! Love those Rogues!

I really enjoy the Rogues! Joe is know for playing with women as much as playing baseball, he has his own posse of fan girls that hang around during spring training. When he happens on a blonde beauty trying on a garter he had to let her know his appreciation. Stevie too one look and ran the other way, after all she promised her cousin she'd stay away from the Rogues. When Joe's dog gets him thrown out of the hotel he fines himself bargaining to rent a room from the doggy daycare for himself and his dog, didn't hurt that Stevie not only worked there but lived there too. Joe's charming ways worked on Stevie's resistance.

Review: No Time to Explain by Kate Angell is book six in the Barefoot Williams series and I was seamlessly back on the beach in Florida with the Rogues baseball team, the players we’ve come to know and lots and lots of dogs. There are so many stories being told but all smoothly blend together and the book flows nicely from baseball to love interests, family and friends, small businesses, philanthropy, bridal events, generosity, doggie love and more. There are also secrets, injuries, sadness, anger, hope, fear, nonchalance, cupcakes, romance, love and lots of burn up the sheet moments in and out of bed.

This is Joe, also know as Zoo, and Stevie’s story and what a story with their powerful chemistry apparent at first sight even though Stevie tries to resist him the best she can and Joe knows he’s not into commitment! Funny that they meet at an annual bridal event on the beach and not under the best of circumstances. The only negative for me is Joe’s party posse, Team Zoo Squad, made up of twelve hot girls that he handpicked for partying and sex. This seemed more than having groupies who followed athletes around and definitely made Stevie uncomfortable hearing about them or seeing them in action.

Stevie’s Aunt Twyla along with Stevie’s best friend Lori were nice additions to the story along with Unleashed her aunt’s doggie daycare business. Joe’s dog Turbo is a force to be reckoned with and it seems that obedience school would be helpful for him or is there another way to calm him? All the references to anything related to being a bride and saying I do were swoon worthy and pretty romantic even when they were just playacting. There was nice closure and a happily ever after in the offing but much more story to tell with so many other baseball players to get to know.

Whether you’ve read a previous book in this series or the Richmond Rogues series, No Time to Explain can be read on it’s own. If you’re looking for a quick and fun read, perfect for the beach, this is a series and an author for you!

Kate Angell is a go-to author for me since I always seem to love her characters. However, this case is a little different. No Time to Explain is part of the Barefoot William Baseball Series with a “player” on and off the field as a main character. I thought when “Zoo” Zooker enters the story that he is someone great to invite to a party but not the type to introduce to mother. He grew as a person so that I could actually say that I liked him. Stevie was right to be wary of him but everyone needs a chance to change, so I was rooting for her to give him one.

As I have always found, Ms. Angell’s books move a quick pace, have the wonderful romance but also a strong story-line so that you feel as if you know these characters like friends at the end of the book. There is also emotional connections and growth in her stories. No Time to Explain has all that. Since I am not a dedicated sport romance fan, I enjoy the beach and the dogs (love them) in this series even more than the sports. This is a book that will leave you smiling, making it not just a perfect beach read but an anytime read.

Hm. It wasn’t that I didn’t like this book, but I never quite loved it either. Which is a shame because I love Barefoot William and I like the Rogues and I even liked Joe – which I wasn’t expecting after his space invader antics at the beginning. The problem was there’s not a lot of real conflict, and what there is first gets overblown and then gets quickly brushed away. As I said, I didn’t hate it, but I expected a little more.

Joe/Zoo is a typical playboy jock at the beginning, intrigued by the woman who turns him down. He’s pretty pushy, extremely competitive and very determined. But I was never quite sure what turned Stevie from a challenge into special for him. I never really got what he saw in her – nor she in him. Proximity definitely helped, but anything more remained a bit of a mystery to me.

Likewise, Stevie. She’s so very, very, very determined to keep Joe at arm’s length at first that her change of mind came really abruptly. One minute she can’t keep far enough away from him, then suddenly, nah, it’s all fine. But why? What changed? And what are her plans for the future anyway? It’s all very hazy.

Then there’s the secret, which shouldn’t have been much of a secret if they ever tried to actually get to know each other. I also expected more to come from the Party Posse. Plus the ending was all resolved far too easily and neatly. It just didn’t quite work for me.

Which is a shame because I loved the board game scene, Super Zooker and everything to do with the Rogues and the town. This whole setting is always fun to read about, I just wish this couple had done more for me. Sadly, this time, I guess it was just an okay read.
