The description of this book sounded great, but it was just too angsty for me. The heroin was too whiny, and the step sister thing just really doesn’t work for me.

Sorry, this one just didn't work for me. I read the whole book and was hoping that it would captivate me, but it just didn't. The characters were not engaging.

Cowboy SEAL Homecoming was a really enjoyable read. The first book in the Navy SEAL Cowboys, I found the dynamic between the characters and the storyline engaging. I look forward to reading more by this author and will be recommending this to readers.

Alex, one of three Navy SEALs, fresh out of the service, takes his buddies back to the ranch he grew up on. His stepsister Becca is turning it into a facility for therapy riding. It's a sweet setup for a sweet book that seems like the beginning of a sweet series (there are two more cowboy SEALs to find romance!).

Nicole Helm is a new author for me. The story description is what made me want to read 'Cowboy Seal Homecoming'. I'm a sucker for military romance novels.
Alex Maguire is returning home to the family ranch in Montana with his 2 buddies Gabe and Jack, to recoup after their discharge from the Navy Seals because of injuries. Alex is a very A type personality- he plans everything down to the last detail. The heroine of the story is Alex's stepsister Becca Denton. She has spent her life quite isolated and sheltered.
The three former Seals join forces with Becca to start a therapy retreat at the ranch for injured veterans. while working on setting up their retreat, each person just might learn to heal themselves.
This was a nice, slow burn romance. I found some parts of the story a little slow a times, mainly in the middle of the book but overall I enjoyed my first Nicole Helm book and meeting the characters in this series.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Honestly, I loved it! This was my first book from this author and what an intro. This book had all of the components you could want in a really good love story. This was such an emotionally heartbreaking and emotionally satisfying story at the same time. My heart broke, my heart soared, my heart felt everything these characters were feeling; which to me is the sign of a really good writer. Alex and his buddies, Jake and Gabe, have all been through hell and back. Becca has her own demons to fight. I like that the author does not sugar coat the effects that PTSD has on veterans and their loved ones. All of these characters are very relatable and likable. Alex and Becca truly belong together and I enjoyed watching things progress between them.
Great start to a new series. I will definitely be reading more.

An emotional journey! Both Alex and Becca are healing from very different hurts. And when they join to start an healing ranch for ex-military they don't know how it will bring them to healing. This book had me captivated from the beginning. I enjoyed seeing Alex and Becca grow closer together. They both push each other to be better and it's so beautiful. It's an emotional and captivating romance. I look forward to the rest of the series.

This book held my interest from cover to cover. The author did such a amazing job of developing the characters that they seam like real people that are a part of your life like there your friends. You do become attached to them and you end up cheering them on so they get to the HEA. I wholeheartedly recommend this book for your reading pleasure. I believe you’ll be caught up with there story as I was. Enjoy 😉

Alex is like a papa bear. Always makes sure everyone else has what they need before thinking about himself. The men in his SEAL team even gave him the nickname Dad.
Becca has lead a very sheltered life. To the point that she's rather awkward around people. Animals although she gets along with perfectly.
This book has a step siblings side to it, but the wounded warrior is what takes center stage.

Nicole Helm writes great, sexy heroes. I always look forward to her books.

A heartbreaking emotional story between stepsiblings that never truly were stepsibling. After leaving navy Alex is going home after all those years. He has to share his fathers legacy with his stepsister Becca who he never really met and doesn't know a thing about her but they have the same dream to built a center for veterans. Becca was protected her whole life and is not good with people but she is prepared to change that and 3 ex-SEALs are a perfect opportunity but if only Alex wasn't so hot and making her feel all of those things that she never felt before. Both Alex and Becca are great characters well develop, my heart was breaking for Alex but in the end, it all turned out fine not perfect but ok. I really hope there will be others book and story from Jack and Gabe.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

I love the premise of this series – turning a ranch into a haven for injured veterans – and Nicole Helm is one of my favorite authors. I liked that the hero, Alex (the planner, the neat freak), started off as the strong character and the heroine, Becca, was the weaker and more vulnerable character (she’s the weird girl), but gradually we were shown how these roles were just roles and looks can be deceiving.
Helm’s depiction of the hero’s psychological trauma and PTSD is almost poignant and surely hard to read as we watch Alex going through several mental breakdowns (shown from his point of view) and his huge stubbornness – so well done that sometimes I wanted to shake him – keeping him from seeking help.
The contrast between Becca’s going-with-the-flow persona and Alex (Mr. Six-Month Schedule, Mr. Charge and In Control) was entertaining to read.
There was a lot of mental musings and introversion – especially by Becca – and I would have preferred more action happening outside the characters’ heads instead.
I also loved the beautiful setting – Blue Valley, Montana
I’m looking forward for the next books, because Alex‘s Navy SEAL brothers play a significant part in “Cowboy SEAL Homecoming” and their characters were exciting to read too.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley. This book was amazing. The relationship building between Alex and Becca was entrancing. I had a hard time putting this book down. My heart aches for Alex and his friends and the PTSD issues they are having but it was neat to see love prevail through all of that. The humorous stories of the animals had me chuckling quite a few times as well. Loved that part of the story too. I would definitely read more by this author and definitely Jack and Gabe’s story.

This is a new to me author. I wasn't sure what to expect and was really hopeful going into it that this book would live up to the blurb for it. The premise for any soldier coming home book always gets to me and this one was no different. This one is about Alex Maguire and Becca Denton. Alex was a Navy Seal until he was retired due to injuries. Becca was his step-sister although his father married her mother after he had already joined the service and they only saw each other a couple of times. Alex is coming home, along with 2 of his fellow teammates who were also injured at the same time. Alex and Becca both each inherited a half of the ranch his father owned and now they have decided to partner up and create a place for soldiers who have no idea how to become civilians to come and work. All while not wanting to admit that he, himself, may need help in order to get past what happened to injure him in the first place. Becca also has her own little issues from not only having been sick as a child but her entirely over protective mother. He thinks that no matter how attracted to her he is, he needs to stay away from her and keep his control with every aspect of his life. Never realizing that Becca may be the exact thing he needs in order to truly heal and move on in his life.

I really enjoyed this book. There were a few moments that were slightly slow to me, that's the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Alex and Becca are very sweet together. Becca is just trying to become more outgoing and to actually have real relationships and just to live her live to the fullest without her mother there telling her she shouldn't do this or that. Alex is trying his hardest to control every little minute of every single day and thinks that will make everything in his life fine. They couldn't help but fall for each other and even when they have major issues, Becca is still the strong woman you know she can be and stands up and tells him what he needs to do to be better. Complete with the help of his friends, who have their own issues to overcome! This book really hits home how much our veterans have to overcome when they come home not only physically but mentally. That they truly need our love and support and the strength not to let them push people away in their fear and/or grief. This author did a great job writing about this and I really can't wait to read about their friends stories!

Cowboy SEAL Homecoming is the first book in the SEAL Cowboys series written by author Nicole Helm. This is a great beginning to what will be a wonderful series. Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advance copy.

This book will stay with me for a long time, I requested it from NetGalley as the cover reminded me of books I have read in the past, but it was so much more. It is book one in this series about 3 injured navy SEALS, Alex, Gabe and Jack who return home to Alex's dads ranch to recover and turn his deceased fathers land into a rehabilitation centre for other Marines and veterans. Book one revolves areound Alex and Becca, his fathers second wife's daughter. When we first meet becca, she is very skittish and shy around the men, due to a life of being smothered by her mother due to ill health, but as the 4 of them learn to live with each other, and Alex and becca's deal with their growing feelings for each other, the author doesn't shy away from the effects war is having on our brave men and women who fight for this country. My heart broke for Alex, and for Becca who seemed at a loss of how to help. I was so moved by this story, and will definitely be reading Gabe's and Jacks stories, to see how they face their demons.

The reason I love reading is to escape reality, even for a few hours, but I also love that rare book that makes you think and with this book, it moved me to tears, these may be fictional characters but I applaud the author for writing about a subject that is happening to service people through out the UK, Europe and America.

About rain-soaked speeches, love and loss....

This is a book about losing oneself and finding your way while doing it. It is also a book about friendship and love and the knowledge that sometimes love hurts because things (and people) don't have to be perfect. And it is a book about the need to protect others, to be in control and about people who have always been (overly) protected - and about the necessity for all of them to learn how to live without it.

When Alex and his friends, all three of them former SEALS, arrive in Montana to work on the ranch together with his, somehow or not really, stepsister, they are still troubled by the after-effects of the attack that ended their military career - and the life of their friend who sacrificed himself for them. While they are all working together to set up a foundation to give veterans like them a place to heal, they all have to learn how to live again and to learn to accept that indeed, nobody is perfect - and that they don't have to be.

While Alex is mostly hurting himself with his need to protect everybody and to control and fix everything, Becca is someone who has been deeply hurt by her mother who always meant well and who protected her against everything and everybody - while ath the same time making her feel lonely and insecure.

This book concentrates on Alex and Becca, those two being two sides of the coin - the one who wants to protect at all costs and the one who suffered due to such an extensive protection but everything I learned about Jack and Gabe, makes me want to learn about them as well.

All of them struggle in their own way but you can feel how close they are and how they never give up on the others, no matter how much the other one fights against them. Once they start to accept that they need help, the healing can begin.

If all of that sounds too heavy and too much like a tragedy, rest assured, a tragedy it is not. Not at all. It is funny and witty and I loved Becca and her way of reaching out, overcoming her shyness and her fear, her sassy remarks and how hings just got a little bit brighter when she was around. Yes, all of the main characters have a lot to deal with and they struggle and sometimes they even fail but nevertheless this book has a lot of sunshine in it.

I really loved reading this book and it definitely wasn't the last time that I've read it!

I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review. This is the story of Becca Denton and Alex Maguire. Alex didnt think hed ever come home again. A tragic accident sends him and two of his men from the SEALs home. He has been avoiding his home in Blue Valley, Montana. So he comes home to his old home and to the innocent woman who lives there now. Becca has a dream of helping people and so she opens her home to Alex and his two friends, so they can turn thr ranch into a place for injured veterans. He tries to stay away from her but she is so hard for him to resist. I loved this story. I read it in one day and could not put it down. All the characters seemed so real. I really felt Alex and Becca's feelings for each other. There are said parts and romantic parts and funny parts that had me laughing out loud. I would reccomend this book to anyone who has read Nicole Helm books before or anyone who is looking for a new author. Nicole's words paint such a wonderful picture and a story that you wont want to put it down.
