This book was way longer than it needed to have been. The last 35% was probably the better part. It could have been about 150 pages shorter. What happened with Kato really pissed me off and the ending for me left a lot of unanswered questions. Moreover, there was TOO much sex, we get it! They’re HOT for each other. I had to skim through all the droning on, hence, it could have been shorter.

A stunning conclusion to what has become my favorite trilogy. This series has everything a reader could desire and I loved every second of it. I cannot help but hope for more in this series because the characters are unbelievable and deserve more of their story told. 5 Badass Stars!

I really loved the first books in this series but man I wish I could scrub the events of this one from my brain. This book was a total nosedive from everything that cam before and was such a struggle to get into. I ended skimming much of it just to see how it all ended but it was just so meh.

The Kingmaker series is epic and I loved and was sad for the last book at the same time! Amanada Bouchet has created an epic and amazing world and characters and I didn't want to see Cat and Griffin go!

I really wanted to like this series, but it just wasn't for me. I could not get over my dislike for the female lead.

I was unable to finish this one. I loved the first book and book 2 left me feeling meh. I've chosen to not go on with the series because of this. Mostly the story veered from where I saw it going and became less enjoyable for me.
I think the world building in this series is incredible for a fantasy romance, but it kind of went off the rails overall in book 2. Hence book 3 not being up my alley. I hope to see Bouchet continue to write really in depth worlds though.

Sorry for not reviewing it in full but I don't love reviewing a book i know I won't enjoy. Thanks for the review copy.

Personally, I did not enjoy this final book in the series. The first one was *chef kiss*, the second one was just ok, and this one felt like I wasted my time. I really did not like Cat at all. Every time I read "Little Bean" I wanted to throw things. I just didn't like it.

I am a huge huge fan of Amanda Bouchet, her Kingmaker series hit my favourites shelf straight away.

Non stop action and adventure with Bouchet's signature romance. I am so so sad to see this series come to an end and I really hope Bouchet will revisit the world in the future because I am not ready to say goodbye to her wonderful characters!

This wasn't my favorite, I just didn't think that the plot was fully fleshed out and that this was an unnecessary book that could have been folded into the other books.

This series is so creative and empowering. I love Bouchet's writing style and I've loved every single word of this she's written. Sorry it has taken me so long to add these reviews - I'm sure you know the gem you have in this one!

"My heart is on fire, Griffin. I don't know when it'll stop" His expression seems to light from within. "It won't ever stop. I won't let it."

Heart on Fire concludes the Kingmaker Chronicles with a bang. This heart stopping beautifully crafted trilogy has quickly become one of my all time favorite series.

Cat and Griffin have so much to lose but even more to gain if they can defeat the evil Alpha Fisa and unite the people of Thalyria.

Cat with her gigantic, caring and fierce heart is the perfect person to bring the people of Thalyria together.

"I have hope." (Cat says) "And I'll share it with the world."

Griffin is the perfect partner to Cat. His fierce love, protectiveness and calm balance Cat. Together they are unstopable.

"You dont need to be perfect Cat. You just have to be you."

But as fierce as Cat is can she really defeat the Alpha that has no conscience? Someone that wouldn't hesitate to use someone Cat and Griffin love to force them to give up on their quest....READ THIS TRILOGY and then find out what an amazing storyteller Ms. Bouchet is.

I’m not sure what happened between the first two books and Heart on Fire but I didn’t like it. For a final book in an action-packed trilogy, I expected. . . well, I expected more and didn’t get it.

Cat’s back to undergo more trials to protect those she love. But this isn’t the impulsive, headstrong Cat I’ve come to know and love. She’s mellowed out a bit which makes sense but it felt like a total shift from the first books and part of the reason I loved these stories is because you never quite knew what she’d do next. I didn’t get that excitement with Heart on Fire and, honestly, Cat was all sorts of Chosen One Special Snowflake-ness. And I was over it pretty quick.

Griffin mellowed too and together they’re certainly a force to be reckoned with. I’m glad that this isn’t one of those series where the couple breaks up and gets back together a million times over to keep the tension high. Though maybe if that had happened I would have enjoyed the book more because at least something would have happened.

Heart on Fire is so SLOW. It drags on for a few hundred pages then passes out the happily ever afters in one go. Almost as if the author ran out of steam when it came to the final arc of the story. Which is a shame because the first two books were so strong.

Maybe I waited too long between book 2 and this one but it wasn’t working for me as a series finale. To be fair, it’s not a bad book. Truly. But if you’re anticipating the same level of action and excitement from the rest of the series, you’re likely not going to find it here.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for allowing me to review this novel. This in no way influenced my review.

Heart of Fire was one of my most anticipated reads of 2018. When it was released though, there were so many mixed reviews that I was scared to read it. I loved the first two books in the series- (A Promise of Fire and Breath of Fire) both were five star reviews from me. Am I going to feel like some of my fellow bloggers and if I do which camp? Team What the What or Team Heck Yay…

Cat and Griffin were hit with some unexpected news in Breath of Fire. News that will be front and center in this book. While it was life changing news at times it was irritating. She took unnecessary risk to prove that she still could. She created a pet name which proved even more grating. Cat was just annoying on and off throughout the book, which hasn’t happened before. Griffin was too- what happened to alpha male King? Now he is all lovely dovey-huh? Where does this come from with either of them? Darn it- I wanted to demand they take a truth serum and tell me how their personalities did a 180 between this book and the previous. There is little banter between the two this time and that is what made their relationship before.

Cat has always been the main character and Griffin has always been the main hero, her love interest. Yet in the previous two books, the secondary characters were an intricate part of the story. Here they are gone within a flip of a page. The story pretty much is Cat and Griffin. While that is fine and dandy with some books, in this one it took away from the Kingmaker’s Chronicles as a whole especially since we have been so wrapped up in the other characters lives through the previous two books.

The ending was well an ending. There wasn’t much to it and that was frustrating for someone who was expecting more from a villain that has lasted over the span of three books. I was also expecting more from Cat when facing said villain.

It physically pains me to rate this 3 out of 5 stars. Yet, it felt like I was reading about different characters. What happened to everyone in the beta team? They were on a few pages of the book but for the most part they were gone. Also there are so many open questions- Kato? Flynn and Jocasta? Carver? And dare I even ask about the Piers? Nah, don’t really care about him but he does have a something pop up in this book. Where is the rest of Griffin’s family? Ummm…they were alive the last time I checked-barely showed up here as well. Maybe there are so many unanswered questions for spin-offs but it made me pout and doubt. What if there isn’t a spin-off or another book to answer these questions? Beta team…Beta team…where are thou- Beta team?

So there you have it my dear followers- I am Team That Is It? Shaking my head wondering about my beloved secondary characters that were left behind by Cat and Griffin.

My Rating 3 out of 5 stars

Loved it! Huge Fan! Love the series! I've read all the books in the series and I would absolutely recommend this book to another fantasy/paranormal/romance reader. I'm really excited about the new series that's coming out, the sci-fi one. And plan to read that one. (even if you guys haven't given me a galley)

This was a thrilling conclusion to the series. Cat is a phenomenal, unconventional character you can't help but fall in love with.

I hate saying this, but Heart of Fire was a complete let down. I was so confused by most of the book and a lot of it felt off. It felt really disjointed and like I was reading a story in a different series with different characters. None of the things I loved in the first 2 books were there and I just left being disappointed.

A PROMISE OF FIRE reeled me in and BREATH OF FIRE kept me wanting more and continue this series, but if HEART ON FIRE wasn’t the last book in the trilogy I might not have picked up the next book. HEART ON FIRE was a disappointing 3-stars.

WHAT'S GOOD
- World-building
- Characters in general

WHAT'S BAD
- Very unsatisfying ending
- Main character was more emotional, less bad ass then previous books
- To many loose ends to the storyline

Starts with a bang and ends with a whisper. Sort of left me feeling the same way A Court of Wings and Ruin did, if you've read that trilogy, a bit let down after all the promise of the earlier books. But I did love that Cat and Griffin finally found a balance in their relationship and a mutual respect, and I really felt the romance mature which was wonderful to see! Curious if there are spin-offs planned because certain aspects felt unfinished and I sort of wanted to know more (looking at you Kato and Ianthe!)

**I got this on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the first book but had issues with the second that had me discouraged to read this one, luckily this turned out to be a really good finale.

Heart on Fire opens where Breath of Fire ends, so if you have not read the book 2, better double back and read it. In fact, the Kingmaker Chronicles should be read chronologically beginning with “A Promise of Fire.” This is one of those series that you will miss out if you don’t read it in the proper order.

It is hard to write a review on this one without revealing the plot. Be rest assured though that there are so many things going on. As this is the final book in the trilogy, Amanda Bouchet made sure that there were no threads left tangling.

There is less action here, but don’t think that the pacing has slowed. Cat and Griffin are still in a neck breaking pace, but it is a controlled chaos.

Arguably one the best fantasy series that hit the market late last year and finished this year, “Heart on Fire” is a splendid conclusion to The Kingmaker Chronicles.

“Heart on Fire” is Rated M for Mature due to violence and sexual content.
