Smile and walk away by Danielle Riedel.
This was a good read.
Velma Bloom lives with her parents. She buys a car with her trust fund and gets a job as a waitress. Her parents are not happy. But something happens. She gets on a plane and disappears. Why? What happened?
I liked vema and how she was. Didn't expect that. I liked the ending too. Looking forward to next part. 4*.

This a great story line for a conspiracy theorist, in my opinion. It had drama, twists, revelations, and at the end, it leaves one to think about the entire story and if a part was missed. The plot starts out with a beautiful rebellious young woman that knows how to play her cards right in life. Velma appears to have her head on straight and is very focused, when she needs to be. She learns as the plot progresses that family secrets can explain some of the experiences of her childhood and confirm that she wasn't just some "weirdo kid". The supporting characters brought out the liveliness of each other. I enjoyed the plot and the progression of it. The characters were dry when they were supposed to be, smart when needed, humorous if that is how they dealt with stress, etc. It was not overly sexual but there were some slightly graphic moments placed in almost every chapter. Most were brief and led one to understand what was happening and then it moved on. Those parts weren't lingered upon by the author. In a lot of books where the pretty young heroine is learning and has to do things she isn't used to, I get annoyed at how the characters are written. They are usually immature or made to sound like idiots. Not in this book. Velma is quite intelligent and is more than able to handle herself. And her liquor. She didn't annoy me. I would definitely read the next book in this series.

Danielle Diesel has given us a new series which is fresh, exciting and human I personally can't wait to read the next installment.
Newly appointed detective, Jackson Duran is tasked with tracking down a missing woman, Velma Bloom, an educated waitress who likes her alcohol about as much as Duran. But everything is not as it seems - every line of enquiry leads Duran asking more and more questions, CIA coverup, Russian spies ??
Lots of twists, intriguing storyline, thrilling this book has it all
