The Lighthouse Keeper is a short ghost story. I found this to be a fast and enjoyable read with likable characters.

When requesting the book from NetGalley, I had no idea what sort of book it wa or th fact that it was only 68 pages long.
It was an easy read, read it in about 1.5 hours.
Characters were pleasant, bit of a shock about one particular one.
A romance ghost story with a twist.

Laura, an artist, moves to a small beach-side cottage to work on her painting but her projected peaceful stay is disrupted by the appearance of a mysterious figure in white. It’s a conventional, traditional ghost story, with nothing very frightening or spooky about it. Characterisation is fairly bland, and the speed with which Laura and her neighbour fall in love is rather more mysterious than any ghostly figure. The writing’s not bad, although the author clearly feels that every noun must have an adjective, and a good bit of editing wouldn’t have come amiss. There’s little suspense, but it’s all tied up quite nicely at the end. An ordinary but fairly readable short story.

A wonderful reading experience. This is a nicely crafted story of the perfect elements of an artist, a mysterious beautiful coastal setting and a paranormal edge Its a fun read and very enjoyable . I highly recommend this book.

This book was short and for the most part was a good read. There were some parts that I skimmed through because the details were just not necessary. However, overall I would recommend people who like quick ghost stories set by the sea.

Living in a beach cottage would be idyllic for Laura who has come on a holiday to do a series of paintings. She did not envisage anything other than a peaceful time - not for a holiday romance as she was just getting over a break up and certainly not for ghosts and hidden spirits trying to tell their story.

Though this was a ghost story, it did not come across as eerie or creepy. Maybe it was the setting and maybe it was the relationship that developed between Laura and Ben who are two very likable characters. The town itself, the characters in the town all add interest to this story and it being a very short read was enjoyable in itself.

I love a good ghost story and Lily delivers a very good, traditional ghost story. I loved the slightly gothic setting and the characters were all believable and very likeable.

Its quite a short read, but perfectly formed.

This is a cute short story with a lighthouse, a ghost, and a cute couple. The town of Peron Cove Revere the long ago lighthouse keeper who tried in vain to save the passengers from a doomed ship. But, a young girl ghost haunts the lighthouse. Laura and Been are determined to find out why. This leads to a different outcome from history.

The story and theme of this book is engaging but I found the writing very simplistic and without enough detail to feel drawn into the story. It was a very short book and the story was delivered quickly without much suspense or drama around it and I felt that this let the book down.

A classic ghost story gradually revealed. Ben and Laura are become dedicated detectives uncovering the facts behind the events that explain their sightingd . With a romance to boot. I enjoyed it.

Traditional ghost story with an intriguing setting. Some good creepy details, but overall this felt rushed....more like a short story.

I received a free electronic copy of this novelette from Netgalley, Lily Night, and Smashwords in exchange for an honest review. Thank you all for sharing your hard work with me.

This short ghost story is a fast read, and an interesting tale. Ben and Laura are easily liked. Emily Harrison and her brother William are easily loved.

If you're into ghost stories and seaside life, this book would be a good one! An artist on holiday at the coast sees a vision in white--a woman seemingly dragging herself out of the sea. Later she meets the man who's purchased the lighthouse keeper's cottage and he, too, has seen the vision. Is it their imagination? Is it connected with a historic shipwreck? Is it just a teenager having a prank? Read the book to find out.
I found this a quick read, and it could have used a little more substance--either accessory plots or additional characters or more depth to the romance part of the novel (seemed almost "automatic").

A really quick read. I was a bit disappointed in the writing and will not be reading more from this author.

This book is good for a short, light read. It feels like an episode of one of the better ghost series on TV. If the story had been treated well (maybe a better edit?), it could have had more suspense. As it is now, you can almost always guess what's going to happen next. The only really surprising and refreshing thing in it is the relationship between heroine and her former lover.

I'm always on the lookout for a good ghost story. The premise of this story definitely intrigued me. An artist, Laura Carlisle rents a cottage on the sea. Soon she starts seeing a mysterious girl in white who seems somehow tied to the lighthouse up on the nearby cliff. The lighthouse is being renovated by new owner, Ben Winscombe. Turns out Laura and Ben are both seeing the ghost. Trying to discover the identity of the spirit, they uncover a tragic tale of deceit and murder, hidden for decades.

The Lighthouse Keeper is a quick read, at 68 pages. The story is interesting and I enjoyed it, but it needs editing. Repeated words and phrases, typos and some flow problems need just a few tweaks to improve its readability. But, the few rough spots did not hamper the story. It's still a spooky, interesting read! As a lover of almost all things ghostly, I have more positive feelings about this story than negative. The second half of the book where the suspense really started coming to a head was better written, and really sucked me into the story.

The characters could have been a bit more developed, but in a quickly developing ghost story this might hamper the quick, exciting suspense of the plot. In this instance, I think the story was more important than the characters.....so I wasn't looking for missing detail.

All in all, an enjoyable story. The ending is perfect. This would be a 4-star novelette if it had some professional editing. Just needs some tweaking in places. Great premise, and nice suspense in the last half. I'll give it a strong 3 star rating.

Fairly typical romance. Decent, but unremarkable. I doubt I would seek out others by this author.

I always enjoy a story set at the beach. And who doesn't enjoy a good ghost story? Win/Win with this one
