first off - thank you to the folks @Netgalley for getting me a copy of this book - definitely one that's a bit different than what i've been reading lately even in the genre.   I'll start off by saying that i'm a bit mixed about this one.  The story itself is a good one, but i feel like it's a bit over written in places - where the vocabulary and the banter is more high brown than it needs to be, even when it's used to make a point.

That being said - we have at the core a sweet story about our female lead Lissie who has found herself in yet another bad situation with her husband - someone that she's been married to for 3 years, but has caught cheating 4 times already.  When she crosses paths with Pierre - the fiance of a friend, well sparks are flying and that in itself leads to so much confusion.

When they go off on a joint holiday, we see that things are getting even more interesting.  Lissie wants to call her husband out on his indiscretions and Pierre wants to find a way to spend more time with Lissie.  So we can all imagine what that means right?

Throughout the rest of this story - we see Lissie grow a pair - she gives her husband an ultimatum, and then try to sort out how she can be her own woman while being 'alone' doesn't really suit her.  Her mind is taken up 24/7 by Pierre yet she won't allow that to be something that comes into reality....until she does.

He's persistent, and his Dom side really takes us to the next level on that.  That's actually kind of where this story goes a bit awry to me too.  I feel like he's definitely the alpha dom, but he doesn't seem to have the compassion and the emotion that we typically see from Doms.  There's usually more of a reciprocated connected, and he still seems like a playboy who wants to have his slave and the women fawning over him.

So from there we see Lissie's friends question his motives, we see some powerful people voice their concerns and then we see the proverbial shit hit the fan when people dig too deep in places they should stay out of.  What that means for everyone involves, Lissie, Pierre, Anne (the fiance), Laura (the PA) and well just about everyone else, well - you'll have to read to find out.  It's not where you expect the story to go - that's for sure.

I found myself almost reading this book through my fingers in the same way I would watch a scary movie - not sure I wanted to go any further but too inquisitive to stop. The sexual content is very graphic and the dominance within the relationship became uncomfortable at times as it could be conceived as borderline domestic abuse. Some of the language used may well put readers off and I'm not convinced it was necessary. Despite my misgivings though the underlying theme is a classic love story which I stuck with to the end and found myself pleased for Felicite albeit a little concerned for her with the road she had decided to take. Did I enjoy the book? - the answer has to be yes but I feel it should have a reader warning as those with a nervous disposition or who are easily offended may want to give it a miss.

The story is interesting. It is about adultery, BDSM and more about the woman finding her identity. The story is all about the transformation of the protagonist, Felicité and her internal conflicts she faces with having to make challenging decisions.

It was a great read and I liked the characters in the book

Unfortunately this was a DNF for me, I just couldn't get into it with the multiple view points; and, the characters were just to hard to get into for me.

City Affairs by Seb King wasn't as captivating as I would have like,I wasn't very fond of the writing,it was too cold and clinical.
The romance wasn't convincing,I couldn't understand nor feel the attraction between the heroes.

This was a very interesting and exciting read. The characters were very well written. I wish that the epilogue was a little longer. Maybe there will be a follow up book! That would be awesome. There was a lot of chemistry with Lissie and Pierre that started right from the beginning all the way to the end. I would recommend this book to others that enjoy a darker romance novel.

City Affairs: My Quest for Love is by British author Seb King. Set in London, our heroine Felicite has discovered her husband was cheating on her. Again. I was disappointed she even wanted to give him another chance, and yet all the while she seemed looking for just the right man. When Pierre set his sights on her and begins wooing her, she is enthralled. The story is very British and is obviously written as such that the average American reading the book might wonder what certain words and phrases are. I definitely had trouble following along in certain places. That being said, it would be worth your while to pick up a copy and read.

Oh wow Oh wow Oh wow oh my god what a totally amazing book who needs fifty shades when you have City Affairs.
I Love this book, it was brilliant and had me hooked from the first page. Set in London and the description just makes the book so just makes the book more amazing. The description was so dynamic and full of twists you did not see coming and that Felicite is one very lucky lady to have met Pierre. She is so lucky to have him and it's not all about sex although some of the stuff they get up to wow. You can really see that they both really love each other and the ending is so brilliant. But saying that the sexual tension is so amazing especially at the hotel and just so amazing a brilliant book you do not want to put down.
You could not see what was coming next and that was so nice not predictable and that Pierre was doing things to make Felicite happy even before they slept together a very brilliant book that I was sad to finish

The book is very descriptive and draws you into the environment the characters are in. The plot takes you by surprise, which, although unexpected, was very welcome. There are still some errors in the book. For example, Pierre's PA started out as Lauren, then towards the end she became Laura. Also there are too many POVs causing the book flow to slower than was necessary. The main characters are enough, meaning Pierre and Lissie, Steve, Cathy, Anne and Damian were unnecessary and seemed to cause the book to drag. I would have loved to understand how Lissie went from the book ending to the one in Anne's POV. In all, I enjoyed the book for it's descriptive environments, and not the confusing narrative.

I'm afraid I really didn't enjoy or connect with this book, it wasn't the BDSM scenes or bad language etc it was because there wasn't a character in the book I could honestly say that was at all likeable so I just ended rushing through the book as I didn't care in the least what happened to them. The ending was also rather strange not sure what actually happened and it was no clearer from the epilogue.
That said I see a lot of reviewers have given it 5 stars so for this book it's obviously a matter of personal taste.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for opportunity to review this book honestly

Not withstanding the overuse of sex I thought this book was badly written. I knew that there would be 'smut' which I didn't mind since I thought this would probably be a fun book to read as a reprieve from the well written novels I had been reading. Instead I was reading a book that had absolutely no substance and unworthy of any praise. Had I not received the book to review I never would have finished it.

The story line is very weak, not much of a plot too much emphases was placed on the sex and not the storyline.I found it difficult to follow and some of the characters were very shallow and I did not see what role they played in the story. All in all not put well together.Dissapointing.

Intrigue, mystery, passion, ambition are just some of the things that come to mind when I have to describe this book. Lissie, a 29 year old young woman has a shaky start for she's been cheated on by the men she loved and dated. Steve's cheating is the final straw and soon, she's single and unaware of what's been happening in the background to serve as the perfect opportunity for Pierre to get into her life.
I loved the way the author captured the vibrant city life in London.
The intensity in which Pierre exerts himself as a dominant in this story could take a toll on people, especially when Lissie asks him to ease up on administering the pain and he ignores it. If BDSM is not your cup of tea, then there are scenes in this book that would downright irk if not offend you. At some point I was so mad at Pierre that I set the book aside. I'll also admit that I am no expert on BDSM, what I do know is that Pierre was relentless in his pursuit of Lissie.
I did receive a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher via NetGalley.
