I was extremely freaked out by the cliffhanger at the end. I didn't know what to expect, and it made me try to pick up the 13th book a soon as possible. I saw a lot of things that I didn't expect in this book, and I was definitely surprised by a lot of the plot twist, especially the stuff concerning Amber. I have enjoyed the series.

The second-to-last book in the ongoing saga of Charley the Grim Reaper brings everything to the table – great victories and even greater losses, questions, dangers and a few laughs as the tale picks up just after the end of Eleventh Grave in Moonlight left off. No rest for the struggling to defeat wicked, Charley is possibly the only person convinced that Reyes is still somewhere within the evil got released when the God Glass shattered, in her living room. Of course, the angels, led by Michael aren’t taking any of this lying down, and Charley and Cookie have an awful feeling that this version of Reyes is responsible for a series of murders as he pops about searching for something he’s convinced that Charley has. When you add in Amber’s determination (with her deaf BF Quenton) and their own ‘detective agency’, Pari the tattoo artist being a suspect in the murder of a man she dated -TWICE – who has turned up dead, the asylum being razed and Charley losing track of Rocket, Blue and Strawberry, and none of the answers just sitting on a shelf waiting to be noticed, the action is never-ending and full of surprises, some revelations and plenty of smart-ass comments, life-threatening impulsive actions and Cookie doing a strip-tease with a lightpole while staging a ‘diversion’ and the emotions in this one are present, palpable and occasionally in conflict.

But, as Charley is the only one who actually needs to believe that Reyes is within the dangerous, threatening and often sulky god that seems to be determined to threaten her and those she loves, and her own determination to get a ‘stay of execution’ for this god from his brother, the one who tricked him into creating the dimension attached to the God Glass, and the niggling thought of the actual culprit in the murder, not to mention her clearing Pari the tattooist for a murder she didn’t commit -her friends, however pushed to their limits of what is possible are ever-confident in Charley – and a children’s tale, a series of 3 books provide an interesting perspective, some answers and a key word that bring things into perspective for Charley – with a bonus for Beep – just as our world is coming under fire….

But, Charley is herself – loving, determined, protective and ever-loyal – and her defiant sacrifice for Cookie at the end of the book leads us into the finale – a challenge where everything she’s learned, and even things she hasn’t yet, will come into use – as we say goodbye to the series. You can’t even begin to understand this series of events unless and until you’ve read the entire series in order. It’s one of the best hideaway and read series that I’ve encountered in a long time- with characters that breathe and laugh and plot mischief in the corner, while tossing the dice on the chance that something they’ve thought of will work. You won’t regret the time – and not having to wait ages for the penultimate story will be your reward.

I received an eBook copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I've struggled through the first four in the Charley Davidson series, but I'm now raising the white flag of surrender. There must be something to these books, as there are a staggering number of positive reviews. Readers seem to be lapping these stories up like a cat to cream, so I don't blame the author for continuing to crank them out. However- I am done.

I'm done with Charley being stupidly gaga over Reyes. She loses her damn mind (and all her common sense) the second he looks her way. She has a high enough opinion of herself that I don't get why she'd allow herself to be treated the way he carries on. He says he loves her, but puts her in danger. Sure, he saves her, but what's a guy to do? Maybe not use his girlfriend as bait in the first place?

Their relationship seems immature, self-serving on both sides, and doomed to implode. Maybe this is the author's intention, watching them grow into a healthy relationship as the series moves along, but I'm not going to stick around for any more of the nonsense.

I love this series as a whole. Daryna Jones has perfected her storytelling to where all parts flow together flawlessly. Would recommend!

I can't think of too many series that remain freakin-fantastic once they hit 12 books, but THIS series is definitely one of them. Charley's one-liners, the friendships, the fabulous secondary characters, Reyes, the mysteries, Reyes--did we mention Reyes?...it's all perfection. I can't say much more than that for fear of giving away major plot points, but if you've been a fan of the series up until this point, you'll love this one, too. And for anyone who hasn't read the series, I feel really bad for you. You're really missing out! 5 stars isn't enough. Can I give it 12 stars??

Full disclosure: We received an ARC from NetGalley.

I have read the other 11 books in this series, and have enjoyed them all. This book is no different. This series was recommended by a friend, and I would gladly recommend it to other friends. I adore Charley and all the other characters.

I love the Charley Davidson series and am both excited to see how it will end and sad to reach the end of the series. If you are new to the series, book 12 is not where you want to start as there is too much history and background from the previous books built into this one. However you should start with book 1 "First Grave on the Right" and enjoy the ride that is this series.

I have loved this series from the first book. I appreciate Charley's sense of humor. Her character has grown and evolved throughout the series but has stayed to true to the characteristics that kept me hooked on this series.

This book picks up a few days after book 11 ends. Charley is back to working cases while on the search for errant husband Reyes. She is trying to determine what happened to him during the few minutes he was in the god glass. To add to the stress UB is investigating a number of gruesome murders that started soon after Rey'azikeen came through the god glass. She is on the case to determine if he had anything to do with it.

This is another great additional to the series. It is filled by crazy plans to trap Rey'azikeen with the help of all your favorites from the series. There are also some aha moments with the recurring characters. I enjoy how Darynda manages to weave in answers to questions that you have had since the beginning of the series. This book does this very well.

The end of this book has a slight cliffhanger that sets up the final book 13. I started this series because it was recommended if you liked Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum, of which I was a big fan. I feel the characters in this series have grown and evolved and the story has become more than solve the current crime book. She has developed a storyline that runs throughout the series and slow reveals to questions that you had in book 1. I highly recommend this series.

I always feel like I come out of these books with more confusion and questions than when I went in initially. I also feel like there is a lot of repetitious information that makes its way from book to book.

In summary, Reyes basically has amnesia this go-round and Charley now knows what it is like for someone to forget her for a change.

And it seems as though the author just remembered Gemma for one random moment after her being on hiatus, and then she’s out again. Super random moments like this reinforces the flat, one dimensional characters.

I also feel like not much happened in this long expanded series, and it was only created so that the author could create more small timeframe books for Charley and Reyes’s daughter, ‘Beep’.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Charley has been trying to locate her hubby, Reyes, ever since his return. She is worried that the god side of Reyes has taken over and is up to no good. Getting close to him isn't hard, but holding on to him is proving to be very difficult. Charley knows Reyes is after something and she's working against the clock to find out what it is and stop him before the angels come gunning for him.

Meanwhile, Charley's got to help a friend in need cover up what could possibly be a murder scene. When Charley's niece, Amber, also asks for her help starting her own PI with a friend, Charley only has time to share a little advice. When someone starts coming after people with supernatural sight, Charley is determined to get to the bottom of it, especially since one of the victims is a friend. With so much on her shoulders, will Charley be able to carry on. Find out in THE TROUBLE WITH TWELFTH GRAVE.

****SPOILERS****
Charley is back to her bad*ss self in THE TROUBLE WITH TWELFTH GRAVE. A lot of stuff goes down in this installment of the CHARLEY DAVIDSON series. Without Reyes by her side, Charley really comes into some character growth. Charley goes to extremes to help her friends, which is so endearing, if at times a little comical. She has a lot of problems to solve in book twelve, but she does an admirable job. I think I prefer Reyes as Rey'azikeen. I love that he finally gets to get in touch with his inner god in THE TROUBLE WITH TWELFTH GRAVE. The ending really through me for a loop, and I'm excited to see how Charley is going to come back from that decision.

Darynda Jones, you slay me. You had me in the throes of laughter.
I loved, loved, loved this book! If felt like the old Charley was back. The last couple of books felt a bit more serious. I'm so glad that belly aching humor is back.

The ending had me saying "wtf" out loud! There are a few shocker moments that happens throughout with the main sub characters. I'm hoping the last book will not have any "side" reaper cases. There is too much that needs happen, unless it coincides with the main story. But I can't wait for the finale!

I devoured this book in one sitting. I swear this series plays with my emotions both in fantastic and devastating ways. I couldn't wait for Charley to find a way to bring Reyes back and I really thought he was gone for good but what a twist it turned out to be. I did not see that ending coming and I knew what Charley would do before it even happened, I mean come on it's Amber. Amber is family! We all saw what Charley would do for Reyes, now I can't wait to read what Reyes will do.

In The Trouble With Twelfth Grave, Charley “accidently-on-purpose sent Reyes into a hell dimension”. He returns not himself but as another version, a malevolent being called Rey’azikeen. Charley must protect her loved ones while trying to get Reyes back.

“...is there anything you want to say to Garrett?”
Reyes lifted a shoulder. “Sorry I killed you.
Repeatedly.”

I love the fast pace of this story. Charley’s biting, snarky wit kept me entertained while sitting on the edge of my seat and gnawing off my fingernails with worry for all of my favorite characters!
The audiobook is amazing with impeccable narration that entertained me completely!
-5 Stars!-

Holy what? THINGS ARE HAPPENING. Big things. Feral gods and angry angels and all sorts of THINGS in between. It's amazing! Mostly because of Charley. The woman doesn't give up even when absolutely everything seems hopeless. Even when her smokin' hot husband seems more angry god than smoldering Reyes.

Charley just keeps chugging away.

She fights the good fight between solving crimes and protecting her friends. She goes toe-to-toe with big gods and angels with big egos. Or at least big swords. Either way, she does her thing. Even when her thing puts her in a bad, bad place.

*stares silently at everyone*

Okay. So we get some resolution on the Reyes front. We've seen him in all his incarnations and the truth of what he did to Charley back in the day comes to light. You know, in a roundabout way. There's danger and heartache and a handful of other things that just make you want to squish Charley and Reyes together and tell them it's all going to turn out fine. Probably. Right? It's all going to turn out fine.

Juuuuussssst fine. I hope.

Fabulous as always! I am going to miss Charley and her friends when 13th Grave is out and read. 12th Grave continues wrapping up story lines or providing hints to the final disclosures to come. Charley is just as sassy and sarcastic as ever while doing her job as a reaper, protecting her friends and family, and searching for her Reyes.

4.5 The blurb pretty much lays it all out for you, but the verbiage is pure Darynda Jones. Charley is her usual coffee drinking, snarky self, doing 2o things at once an her brain going in all directions. It took me awhile to catch up, but I enjoyed the ride getting there. Reyes, ok not Reyes, yes Reyes, no not Reyes (just read the book ) was as hot as ever, ok maybe hotter. I was floored with what transpired with Garrett, I laughed out loud and almost peed my pants when Cookie went undercover as a bad lady (yes there is more to it than that) and Uncle Bob asked Charley "WTF is my wife doing" OMW just thinking about it makes me laugh all over again. The ending was no, no, no don't let this be true. Than it was fixed, and ultimately we are left knowing there is a price to pay, a big price.
Thank you Net Galley and Darynda Jones for the opportunity to read this arc. All thoughts, opinions (misspellings) are my own and were unsolicited.

I love this series by Darynda Jones, and it's one that is a must have, especially if you love a snarky, kick ass heroine! Any book series worth it's salt has to have one of those, as well as a sexy man who walks into your wildest fantasties/dreams! Very well written, and a series worth reading over and over!
