I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

Breaking the Rules of Revenge follows Mallory as she masquerades as her twin sister, Blake, while at Camp Pine Ridge. Being the quiet sister, she's never really had the opportunity to do anything, but now is perfect, as there will be next to no one there who knows either sister, and she might be able to find a cute guy to have fun with. The only problem, the cute guy - Ben - is hell bent on revenge against Blake, as it's all her fault that he's even at this camp. Mallory is caught unawares, and soon finds herself falling for Ben, who is also conflicted, as the girl in front of him is nothing like the one he wants to get even with, and he might also be developing feelings.

When I saw this book on NetGalley, and started to read it's synopsis, I was definitely interested about the revenge aspect of the story, and the enemies to lovers trope. There were definitely some really good moments in this book, but also times when I felt like a little bit was missing, which is why I only gave it 3 stars. I like Ben and Mallory's relationship, and the angst that was there. The camp aspect was something new too, but all in all, I wanted a bit more.

Unfortunately I didn't finish this book, as I couldn't get into it - nothing against the author or book, just not to my personal taste. Thank you for the opportunity to read it.

I ate this book up like it was candy. If I were a teen, this exactly would have matched my type of book. This has that whole sweet innocent girl who is clumsy and feels completely invisible. It also has the cute bad boy that is focused on her. This is fun and maybe a little goofy book from Entangled Crush. It is a good book but I'm not sure if its one that will stick around for me personally.

Mallory is an innocent normal bland teenager. However, her twin sister Blake is almost like a superstar. Blake is super athletic, popular with the boys, outgoing. Mallory has asthma, is in the band, and always has her face in a book. Blake gets in major trouble from pranking this one specific boy and her choice is go to prison, or summer camp… Or option number three beg your twin sister to go for you. Obviously since this story is about Mallory you can tell Blake went with option number three.

Ben Iron Cloud is the one guy in school who isn't interested in Blake. Not in the slightest. They have been total enemies all school year. The final prank that caused him to get suspended for the last bit of school was pushing it. His mother sends him to a summer camp because she thinks he needs to get away from his friends who have a bad reputation. The first day of camp he sees his enemy, Blake, show up and he decides that now is the time for revenge. He doesn't know that it is actually Mallory the meek.

I would pick this book up again, just to see if it interests me more down the road. I think it deserves a re-read. For now I will say it was a good book and if you are a teen, or have a teen this is totally appropriate and really fun to read.

This was such a fun, summery and Parent Trap camp read that I really enjoyed.

Mallory is tired of being in her twin sister's shadow and when she has the opportunity to switch places she takes it. But when she gets to camp, the long running prank fued between her and her twin sister's-Blake- is going to be a showdown. She quickly realizes that taking her sister's place is tiring and lying to everyone is getting tiring. As she gets to learn more about Ben, she realizes there is more than pranks; but things get really complicated when Blake takes a long Uber and wants to switch back.

Ben and Blake have been long prank rivals and he is more than happy to make Blake's life a camp and miserable one. But he notices she's a bit of a klutz and she's much nicer than her usual stickup air about herself. His reaction was a natural one that was super relatable to finding out that he was actually dating Mallory instead of Blake.

This was so fun and sweet!

I liked the plot of the story, it did not enjoy the cuss words, and the use of very mature language the camp

This book was fun and entertaining, I love books from Crush. This book was funny and reminded me of a movie I watched when I was a kid. I can't wait to read more books from Crush.

Mallory and Blake Jones are twins but total opposites to the point that Ben Iron Cloud has no idea that Mallory exists. Blake vs Ben is a rivalry of epic proportions which spills into their summer but unbeknownst to Ben, it isn't Blake he's dealing with at Camp Pine Ridge. The girls need to find out what's really important, Blake in regards to her sister and Mallory in regards to herself. It is a fast paced novel packed with teenage against and a few too many cutesy camp activities. Switching places with your twin for the summer, what could go wrong?

When I requested this book on NetGalley I was aiming for something light and a little ridiculous which is exactly what I got. Who doesn't enjoy a good teenage love triangle and twins switching places? It isn't a new concept but it is a solid one. The characters were quirky in an endearing fashion and reminiscent of the kids I deal with on an everyday basis. Were some of the plot points and characters traits stretched a little too far to be believable? Maybe, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story in the slightest.

3.5 “Twins & Summer Camp” Stars

ARC via NetGalley.

Thank you, Entangled Teen (Crush)!

I'm hardly ever disappointed by Entangled Teen, and Breaking the Rules of Revenge was another good example of how cute their contemporary romance titles can be.

A fan of everything twin-related and the hate to love trope, I was immediately drawn to the premise. In Breaking the Rules of Revenge, we have Mallory and Blake, twin sisters who swap roles so invisible Mallory can fulfill her wish to be popular Blake for a few weeks, while her sister gets away from going to summer camp.

One of the things I liked about this story was the twin's relationship. It wasn't the cliché I sorted of expected it to be. Blake and Mallory weren't the typical inseparable, best friend's forever twins. Neither were they enemies. While it became clear early on that Blake was the selfish person who was used to getting her way and having people follow her lead, she wasn't portrayed as a villain. It would've been easy to make her this super nasty person who bullied her bookworm sister, but I didn't get that vibe from the story. What I got were two flawed teen sisters.

Since this is told from Mallory's POV, we get to see her grow a lot more than her twin, although Blake gets to redeem herself a little in the end. For Mallory, acting as her sister provided her the opportunity to find herself. I liked how she slowly grew comfortable in her own skin, and even though the romance was a big part of the plot, I still didn't feel like she came to accept herself because of someone else (a boy). I think it had more to do with the fact that she realized being her sister wasn't as easy or perfect as she thought it would be.

As to the romance, I liked Mallory and Ben together, but I almost wished there had been a little more drama. With the hate to love thing going on initially, all the pranks and the secret Mallory was keeping, I expected a little more angst than I got. They were cute and sweet together, but I still expected more chemistry.

I also wish we would've seen a little more of Zoe and George, because I loved how they were such good friends to both Ben and Mallory.

Overall, this proved that whenever I'm in a mood for some teen romance I can count on Entangled Teen Crush to give me something quick and sweet.

Received an ARC from Netgalley on behalf of Entangled Crush Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

Have you ever seen The Parent Trap? You may have seen the original 1961 version with Haley Mills, my personal favorite. Or you may only know the 1998 version with Lindsey Lohan, when she was young, cute, and innocent. Now you know how long ago I am talking about. Well this story is similar with a few differences. First, difference this story has nothing to do with getting parents back together. Second, it has more a prince and the pauper kind of switch-a-rue.

We have a pair of sisters. Identical twins, however they couldn’t be more different. Think of Disney channel’s original series Liv and Maddie. Blake is the popular, athletic, beauty queen of her school. She is also completely self-absorbed. She is a flirt and craves being the center of attention. She wants to be the girl that all girls want to be and all guys want to be with. Mallory on the other hand is on the complete opposite spectrum. She loves to be in the library surrounded by her friends Austen, Dickinson, and the Brontë sisters. She loves romance stories (a girl after my own heart) and loves the day dreams that come from them. She stays under the radar, not many people realize that Ms. Oh-So-Popular-Blake has a sister. Hidden behind her glasses, French horn, and lack of confidences, Mallory is always in the shadow of her sister.

When Blake gets into some serious legal trouble which causes her father and the District Attorney to come up with a suitable punishment. The punishment – seems to an outside perceptive (such as me) – to not fit the crime; however, Blake feels as if her entire world falls apart at the thought of being forced to go to summer camp for the next six weeks of her summer. Blake comes up with a plan to switch her Mallory. Mallory sees this as her chance to live like Blake. She didn’t think thought Blake’s life would be so messy with drama.

Ben is stuck going to summer camp because of a horrible, selfish, drama queen, who pulled a ridiculous prank at the school, and blamed him for it. He can’t stand Blake and the drama she has all around her. So when he sees her at camp he is determined to make her life as miserable as she has made his. But Blake is acting different. She isn’t being the same Blake that he has known this past school year. Something about her has made him start to like her, which is not part of the plan. The more he actually spends time with “this Blake” the more he realizes she must have more layers to her then he ever thought.

Mallory doesn’t know what to do, she is falling for Ben (the heart throb from her school, HARD). She is scared though. Is Ben falling for Blake or her as Blake? Mallory world goes all topsy-turvey when an unexpected visitor makes an appearance at the camp, making Mallory’s life worse.

The story was pretty good. I liked Mallory. She is reserved, non-confrontational, and kind. I think we all at times want to live in someone else’s shoes, until we realize that being true to ourselves is more important. The grass is not always greener on the other side, and that is what Mallory realized.

The story has a HEA, and is super cutie.

Makes you want to go back in time to summer camp.

Parental Advisory: Bullying, hot kissing, talk about virginity, make-out sessions, problems with the law, some underage drinking.

Thank you Entangled for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love almost all of Entangled Crush books, but I can't say that I love this one. It was ok. It had a cute dynamic and I REALLY loved that the hero was Indian or at least half Indian. What I didn't like was that the plot and revenge tactics were not believable in the slightest.

I have read several others in the Endless Summer series by Entangled Authors and I felt that this one did not match up with the recurring characters, such as Fozzie Bear.

In short, it was a cute read but could have been better.

I enjoy reading a lot of the books that are published by Entangled Teen/Crush Publishing and this one did not disappoint. The story is about identical twins named Blake and Mallory. They are different as day and night. Blake is a popular queen bee kind of girl. While Mallory is more of a book worm and introvert whose boyfriends are in the pages of a book. When Blake gets into trouble for bullying their dad enrolls her into a camp for six weeks. Since Blake does not want to go to camp so she convinces her sister to take her place. When Mallory finds out that Ben is also enrolled in camp she is faced with dealing with all the hate he has for her sister. Ben hates Blake and is set on revenge while Mallory has a secret crush on him. This book takes you on a drama filled roller coaster ride that is funny and exciting. The setting being a camp that is meant to help you “find your better self” makes this a perfect place for revenge. Overall a great read that I would recommend to anyone who loves a good young adult novel.

This was a cute, sweet read. There was a lot of glossing over plot points that didn't quite fit which was a little jarring after times. But, I have a feeling this author will get better and better.

(I received an advance copy of this book for free. Thanks toEntangled Publishing, LLC and NetGalley.)

This was a YA contemporary romance story about a girl who switched places with her twin sister.

Mallory was a sweet girl and it was typical of her that she’d take her sister’s punishment for her. Ben was an okay character, and he certainly managed to pull off some acts of revenge on Mallory.

The storyline in this was about Mallory switching places with her twin sister Blake, and going to camp for the summer in her place. At camp she met Ben who had gotten into trouble because of one of Blake’s pranks and wanted revenge. I didn’t feel like there was enough romance in this story though, and it was missing something for me.

The ending to this was okay, and everything worked out well in the end, but I would have liked a bit more chemistry and romance.
6.5 out of 10

MY RATING: 2/5

I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Breaking the Rules of Revenge follows two teenagers who seem to hate each other. Sort of. When Mallory decides to switch places with her identical twin sister, Blake, for the summer, she didn't to being the center of the target for pranks by Ben.

I understand that this is a book directed for young adults but it just seemed not possible. Blake's sentenced to summer camp because of her rambunctious ways and somehow, she managed to convince her nerdy sister, Mallory to take her place. Really? It seems kind of hard to believe someone would be that great of sister when you have take the blame for someone's misdemeanor and then have to suffer constant surveillance from adults because they don't trust that you will behave. And moving on to Blake.

Blake was just a huge jerk to Mallory. Half the time I was waiting for Mallory to fight back but she did none of that. A huge disappointment in my opinion.

MY RECOMMENDATION:

Skip it.

This book is the perfect example of how cute and fun Entangled Teen’s contemporary romances can be. They never disappoint.
I really enjoyed this story, I’m a sucker for the enemies to lovers trope, I don’t care how overdone it is. I liked that the twins weren’t inseparable, they both leads very different lives. It made a welcome change from the usual twin relationship we usually see.
We didn’t really get to know Blake all that well other than it being implied she was pretty selfish and conceited but eventually showed she does care for her sister and can put others feelings first. She was pretty one dimensional but it didn’t bother me too much as she wasn’t a main character.
I liked Mallory, she seemed really considerate, witty and a nice person to have as a friend. She felt invisible in her own life and wanted to try being her sister because it seemed like everything came easy for Blake but she ultimately learnt that the grass isn’t always greener. The confidence she gained allowed her to open up and really come into herself. She made friends and fell for a boy and while her name at camp may have been ‘Blake’ she never really acted like what we saw of her sister, so it was her all along.
Ben was a little bit lifeless, I would've liked for him to have been more interesting. He done the job as far as adorable love interest goes but he lacked substance.
As far as the romance aspect goes, it was really sweet. There were a lot of moments that made me aww. I would’ve liked for there to have been a little more angst. Between the rocky start of them being enemies, to the pranking and getting to know each other and the huge secret Mallory was keeping, I expected a little more drama. Everything seemed to be resolved too quickly.
Overall, this was a quick, fun read that made me smile. I’d definitely recommend.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this novel overall. It was a cute storyline with relatable characters (in spite of a name that I wasn't really sure of - "Ben Iron Cloud" ?? what was that about?) and brought a story that I feel like is a perfect summer read. It didn't take me very long to finish it, but it was still very enjoyable nonetheless.

The story presented a problem that I have yet to see in the Entangled Teen Crush imprint, although mistaken identity was somewhat discussed before. Mallory is twins with Blake, and they are polar opposites. Mallory, a bookish, shy 'nerd' has always felt in the shadow of Blake, who is a party girl by nature. Long story short, Mallory ends up going to summer camp for Blake (who was meant to be sent there for punishment) and it turns out that the infamous Ben Iron Cloud is there too... and it's because of Blake. Surprise, surprise, Ben hates Mallory (ie. "Blake").

The story progresses from there, and I'm sure you can figure out how it ends.

Regardless, it was a really enjoyable read and while not one of my favourites out of the entire imprint, it certainly wasn't my least.

Congratulations to the author and the publisher for this great book.

Breaking the Rules of Revenge is your typical Parent Trap story. Twin sisters Mallory and Blake trade places when Blake is sentenced to summer camp rather than prison for her most recent prank. All Blake has to do is pass math for Mallory and Mallory will spend her summer doing arts and crafts and going on long hikes. It seems like the perfect plan until Blake’s arch nemesis turns up at camp as well. The story is told in alternating POV’s, Mallory and Ben.
Let’s start with what works: Summer Camp as a setting. This book is a part of the Endless Summer standalone series by Entangled, so frequent visitors to the Crush shelves will notice the camp and a couple characters seem pretty familiar. I am obsessed with using camp as a setting in YA. Partly because I never went to summer camp as a teen (I did, however, attend girl scout camp when I was in elementary school) and partly because it’s so much more fun than being in high school. With a few exceptions, these are summer friends! The stakes are entirely different. Love it.
Also, the dynamic between Mallory and Ben. Despite their prank filled rocky beginning, there’s a connection between our two main characters that builds to a climax and then builds again. While lacking on character development in a lot of ways, these two do have a lot of chemistry built into the novel and I can appreciate that.
What didn’t work: Mallory and Blake’s relationship. Blake is a terrible sister. She walks all over Mallory and doesn’t care, even when she realizes she’s doing it in the end. I wanted a fight! A huge blowout! One that ended in a mutual understanding but not a tearful hug and a promise to be better. I have a sister and I know any promise of the sort would be a blatant lie. But sisters fight even if Mallory seems pretty level headed (with a few exceptions). A major screaming match between the twins would have given this novel a level it is currently missing.
And, as I mentioned before, this book is seriously lacking in the character development department. Mallory feels one dimensional to me despite a ton of opportunities for improvement. She’s pretending to be her outgoing sister for the summer! That has to make a girl realize a thing or two about herself. And yeah, in a small way she does, but just like the sister fight this was a missed opportunity that would have made the novel even better than it already is.
Like all Entangled Crush books, this is a fun, quick read. If you’re as sad as I am about summer ending and you’re not quite ready to embrace the pumpkin spice lattes quite yet, immerse yourself in summer camp for a few hundred pages. You won’t regret it.

Love, love love! Perfect end of the summer read. I've read other titles in Endless Summer, and this book was a great addition, even though it's totally stand-alone.

5 Stars - A Fun Summer Camp Romance

Romance is my absolute favorite... there’s just something addicting with books that make my heart skip a beat and leave me feeling happy. Breaking the Rules of Revenge by Samantha Bohrman definitely did that and more. It’s a fun sweet story about first love, but it also delivers a great message about self-discovery, honesty and forgiveness.

The writing in this book is fantastic and easy to read. The plot, while a bit predictable at times, is fast-paced, engaging, and so much fun! As a teen, I’ve always wanted to go to summer camp ever since I watched Bug Juice on the Disney Channel. Gosh.. I don’t even know if anyone still remembers that show, but this book brought me back to those days… And it’s absolutely the best feeling ever! I loved every moment and I honestly could not stop reading. (Bug Juice is a reality show about teens in summer camp and I just read that it's actually being revived in 2018 just in case you wanted to know).

I thought Bohrman did a such great job creating genuine and relatable characters. They acted their age -- teenagers just trying to figure out who they are and learn from their mistakes. Mallory is shy and a bit insecure. She’s always overshadowed by her popular twin sister, Blake, and I just felt for her. Ben comes off as the “bad guy,” but you learn that he’s actually quite charming, sweet, and kind. George is just delightful! I loved his quirky personality. And Blake…she’s everything Mallory wants to be -- beautiful, confident, and popular. But underneath all that, Blake is still just a teenager with her own insecurities. At one point of another, I’ve been a Mallory, envied a Blake, had a friend like George, and crushed on someone like Ben. They’re just so real and I absolutely adored them.

I also really enjoyed the dual POVs between Mallory and Ben. It was interesting to read how they saw each other and how they dealt with their growing attraction. I honestly just wanted to squeeze the both them… Mallory and Ben are just so cute together. Their chemistry had me smiling the entire time and I loved watching their relationship develop into something more. From pranking each other to calling truce and being friends and to almost kissing and actually kissing, I swooned over and over. This is why I’m forever a romance junkie… I love feeling giddy, and happy, and getting those butterflies in my stomach.

This book is charming in so many ways and I just love it to pieces! If you’re looking for something quick, light and sweet, then I definitely recommend you pick this up.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

mallory thinks that trading places with her identical twin sister blake will be a good thing for her. she'll spend a couple of weeks in the woods, her sister will pass her math class for her, and she can try her hand at being more like her confident, good-with-the-boys sister.

if only ben iron cloud, the boy blake has been feuding with over a series of escalating pranks hadn't also been sent to camp. and even though mallory knows that he has every right to be mad at blake. he doesn't actually have any reason to be mad at her. so when he decides to get revenge on blake, mallory ends up in his crosshairs.

what ben can't figure out is why he's suddenly seeing blake in a new light. she doesn't seem as selfish. and she keeps apologizing. and when he realizes that he's breaking the rules of revenge that he set for himself, he has to admit that his heart isn't into it. there's more to blake than he thought. (mainly because who he thinks is blake is actually mallory.)

this secret identity causes way more problems than mallory could have ever imagined. because she really likes ben. and she knows he's going to be so angry at her when he learns the truth. and there's also a part of her that is afraid that ben likes the parts of her that are pretending to be blake and won't like the real mallory.

when everything blows up it ends up blowing over pretty quickly. blake for all her awfulness does actually care for mallory, and she ends up helping in a surprising way. when you think of summer camp and identical twins and pranks you can't help but think of the parent trap, but this is definitely not a retelling of that particular story, it is just as enjoyable though. the pranks that ben ends up pulling off on mallory are pretty epic. orange hair and green teeth are definitely something.
