I have read several of Kate Meader’s previous books but have finally got around to reading her Chicago hockey series. Boy I didn’t know what I was missing! I quickly devoured this book and book 1 in the series and I can’t wait to finish the series!

This was good addition to Kate Meader's Chicago Rebels series. Isobel and Vadim have a past and this is a great second chance story.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Hockey romances are so my thing, but I could not connect with the main characters in this story.

I liked this one more than the first book in the series. More depth to the characters and what they were going through. I have to say, I want Shay kicked off the team and I can't wait to get to Violet's story.

The book and I didn't click and I wasn't able to finish it. I was not a big fan of the main characters, to be honest. Second chance romances are a hit or miss for me and this one, unfortunately, was a miss. I couldn't connect to the book and it was a big disappointment because I liked very much the 2 previous books in the series.

Fantastic read! I love the glimpses into previous series by the author. Highly recommended for sports romance fans.

n preparation for undertaking this book, I felt it was necessary to read book one, Irresistible You. (As I type this it's on sale on Amazon for $.99) They can be read as standalone but it's more fun knowing the background.

So Over You is the one that got away...and left you hanging. LOL. Vadim Petrov is the Russian Czar of Pleasure...or so the tabloids say. But to Isobel Chase he is the one who was run off. Or chased off, more appropriately.

Fast forward to present day and the tension between them is a powder keg. Anger, misplaced blame, and feelings are stewing. It's about to get a lot hotter on the ice.

The thread that binds them together and brings them back had me giggling. Czar of Pleasure...wasn't able to provide.....yeah, you would giggle too!

M/F Romance
Triggers: Abandonment issues

This is the second story in this series and I would say that you should read book one first, as there are several characters that reappear and their dynamics are not re-explained.

Isobel is a sister who is trying to save the hockey team that her father left her and her sisters. Each sister is trying to keep their relationship with each other solid, but also trying to follow their own dreams at the same time. Isobel had a dream to play and win the gold medal – her father had that same dream for her. When tragedy struck, she settled for a life in hockey but not for hockey.

Then you have Vadim... He seemed very insecure at the beginning of this story. I had a difficult time liking him because it felt like he was overcompensating. He had a reputation of being gruff and a ladies’ man. However, he also felt like he had never truly gotten over Isobel, despite what her career and her father did to his own career.

When you throw in Vadim's past, Isobel in his present, and what each of them wants for their future, it becomes involved and messy.

I enjoyed watching this story unfold. Despite some bone-headed moves by each character, I think that it was resolved in a manner I could live with.

I hope that Vadim's sister gets a story of her own.

This is the second installment in this series and it’s just as good as the first.

The story is well written in that you can feel the angst and desperation that Isobel has at seeing her dreams taken away from her after one horrible accident on the ice. Her life changed dramatically that one night and nothing has ever been the same. And that was before her father died and left her and her two half-sisters running a hockey team.

Vadim has just been traded to the Rebels and has huge chip on his shoulder. He hasn't talked to Isobel since her father had him blackballed from the NHL years ago, but that doesn't mean he hasn't kept up with her.

As their story progresses, we see flashbacks to what occurred when they were teens and what caused Isobel's life to change dramatically. We also see two strong independent people come to terms with the past and do their best to make new dreams come true.

I know I’m going a little bit fangirl crazy over this series, but I think I might even love this second story more than the first. Isobel is the second of the three Chase sisters who inherit an NHL team. Unlike her sisters, Isobel loves hockey. She grew up on the ice and she was one of the best – winning two Olympic medals before an injury ended her career. Her problems start when the sisters buy the contract of the man she once loved.

I love, love, love Isobel’s fierce strength in this book. She is determined to prove herself as a coach in a male dominated sport. She’s a more likeable character than Harper was in the first book and she’s also pretty inspiring.

Vadim is hilarious. And sexy. And smart. And more complicated than he initially appears. At the start, his confidence is pure arrogance, but the combination of a debilitating injury, a female coach, and his team questioning his sexual virility bring him back down to earth with a resounding thud. Vadim isn’t smooth. He’s not too great with the nuances of American culture either. But I would dare any reader not to fall madly in love with him.

Together, these two have brilliant chemistry. They share an intense passion for their sport. They also share a history that hurt them both. And the power balance between the owner/coach and her player is more than a little bit uncomfortable.

Like the first book, this one is smart and sweet, fast paced, and entertaining. I love the Chase sisters and I love that this series is as much about the relationships between the three very different sisters as it is about their individual romances. I like that there is more focus on the actual hockey in this second story and less about the management of the team. I loved every page of this story and I can’t wait for the next one (Dante’s book in March!).

This is the second book in the series and tells Isobel's story. I loved the first book, which featured her half-sister Harper, as it was really fast paced and very funny. This book follows on directly in time, following the fortunes of the girls' hockey team – the Rebels. I would suggest that you read them in order as the underlying plot continues.

This was a much more emotional read, with Isobel finding herself coaching her teenage first love, Vadim, now that he has joined the Rebels. She still finds him very attractive, but as she is still dealing with the disappointment of her hockey career ending, her jealousy at his success remains. I love the chemistry between them, the give and take, and the depth of their relationship. Very romantic and intense storylines – I loved it.

The ending sets up the next story beautifully and I am really looking forward to Violet getting her turn in the limelight.

This was a great second chance romance. The leads were friends and lovers in their younger years. Now they are thrown together to take this hockey team to the finals. They loved each other but were separated by the coach who was the female lead's father. Now years later they have to relearn each other and navigate through all the baggage of their previous relationship. I loved their journey and was happy about their ending.

*I received this book free from Simon & Schuster – Gallery Books in exchange for an honest review*

Isobel had known Vadim before he got traded to the Chicago Rebels, but what she didn’t know was how much she’d really meant to the “Czar of Pleasure”. Forced into co-ownership of the Rebels has put Isobel into a sticky spot. She loved her coaching job, but the logistics was too difficult to work out and in order to fulfil her duties as her father had so graciously put into his will she quit, moved into her sister’s house, and started helping out with the team more. Her job…to get Vadium back to his awesome skating ability after his knee injury. That head understood her job, her body and heart was a different story.

“Damn that fuckwomble Russian!”

Vadim’s career took a major detour after Isobel’s father had found them together as teenagers, but he never gave up. He worked hard and eventually ended up back in the NHL, then got injured, traded to the losing Chicago Rebels, and just when it couldn’t get much better his mother decided to reenter his life. But his road also led him back to the woman he’d always wanted so all was good in the land of Petrov.

“I have waited my entire life to love you and I refuse to let your stubbornness take you away from me.”

He knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go after it. She’s just figuring out what she wants and isn’t at all sure how to move forward. Together they’ll figure everything out.

So Over You is sweet, romantic, and filled with Russian humor. I enjoyed how two lives had affected one another even if the other hadn’t known it. From Isobel and Vadim following each other’s careers to moments one was present without the knowledge of the other.

“I wish we had a closet of knee pads up here,” she said as she headed toward the door.
“Why?” Violet asked.
“Because when a girl has to grovel, she likes to do it with protection.”

As for the backstory…the Rebels are still on their way to a playoff spot. Remy and Harper came out to everyone about their relationship. And I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.

The writing…was filled with a lot of self doubting characters, which put a little damper on the awesome, but the ‘take me right here right now’ scenes seemed to make up for it.

I love Kate Meader. She is a wonderful writer and I always seem to find myself at the end of her book dying for more!

I LOVE Kate Meader's writing!! And I LOVE the Chicago Rebels series! To really appreciate Isobel and Vadim's story, you should read book 1. Just to get hints of their chemistry.

Isobel and Vadim have an interesting history - and not necessarily pleasureful. At least for one. So Mr Gets-around is shocked and surprised greatly when Isobel tells him of the events of their night together. And boy does that blow his mind.

I love sports romances and this whole series is awesome!!!

What's this? A hockey romance AND it's a second chance?! I'm there!!

Isobel is one of the three Chase sisters bequeathed their father's beloved hockey team, The Chicago Rebels, upon his death. This series has been all about them each getting their HEAs and even more significantly, bonding with each other and getting over their somewhat less than father of the year paternal figure's shortcomings. Isobel was at one time an up and coming hockey player and had a relationship with the world's sexiest Russian hockey player. Both those things were taken from her, brutally, and she has never quite gotten over either loss. When Vadim, said sexy Russian player, is traded to her and her sisters' team and Isobel becomes his personal coach, their second chance never seemed further away because Vadim never misses a chance to glare at her and brood in his corner. What could HE possibly be mad at her for?! He's the one who made her first time less than epic, who didn't live up to his sexy exterior. He's the one who left her when her career lay in shambles. Isn't he?

The tension between Isobel and Vadim is seriously the stuff of romance dreams are made of. And their banter?! Oh God, sooo snarky and delicious. No one was happier than I was when they finally gave into their obvious attraction and he made up for her all her missed orgasms during their less than stellar first time. Sometimes I wanted to smack Isobel for being so freakin stubborn and bullheaded, and sometimes Vadim's alpha male tendencies were a bit OTT, but he really did have her best interests at heart so he got a pass. Thank God for Isobel's awesome sisters finally knocked some sense into her thick skull, though, because I'm not sure she would have seen the light on her own.

I've loved this series so far. It's what the best sports romances all are - sexy, witty and entertaining, and well-written. And now I'll go devour Violet's story, Hooked on You, and cry because it's the last of the series.

So Over You is the second book in The Chicago Rebels series. I absolutely loved it, it’s the first book I’ve read by this new-to-me author, and I already 1-clicked the first book in the series. The series features the Chase sisters, three estranged half-siblings, thrown together after their father’s death to run his NHL team. I love Sports Romance and this one is phenomenal, with just the right amount of simmering heat and tension, and a HEA ending that had me sighing quite a few times. I love dual POV and this one didn’t disappoint; the back and forth banter was funny and flirty. So Over You features the middle sister, Isobel, and a newly traded Russian Hockey star, Vadim Petrov. Plus, there’s the interaction between the other two sisters which added a touch of comic relief to the story.

Isobel Chase had to retire from her dream of playing professional hockey after an injury sidelined her career two years ago. She’s still not over it, after being on the US Olympic team and winning a silver medal at eighteen, all she’s ever wanted to do was play hockey. And since those who can’t do, teach, or in Isobel’s case, coach, she’s hoping for a position on the Chicago Rebels NHL team. The team she and her half-sisters Harper and Violet inherited after their father’s death. In the meantime she’s working as a skating consultant on the team to get their newly traded player up to speed, after a knee injury, so they can qualify for the playoffs. Unfortunately Vadim Petrov isn’t just any player; he’s the Czar of Pleasure, as the tabloids call him. And they knew each other intimately, eight years ago, for a short period of time.

Vadim Petrov has had some major upheavals in the last eighteen months, including seeing the mother that abandoned him and finding out he has a half-sister, the death of his father, and being traded to Chicago after a knee injury. And now he has to work with Isobel Chase, who he feels used him and tossed aside, and he’s never forgotten or forgiven. After their disastrous encounter his life and dreams were altered as a consequence and he’s still unsure if she had a direct hand in it, so yeah, he’s a little resentful.

“And you are, who, exactly? The daughter of a hockey great who was not so great when it came to running a team. The woman who can no longer play yet thinks she can offer ‘tips’ to me. To me! You may have pedigree, Isobel, but there is nothing I can learn from you.”

There’s the added drama of the sisters having to work and get along together. Clifford Chase was a notorious manwhore who cheated on his wives. He left his first wife, and practically abandoned Harper, his eldest daughter, to marry Isobel’s mother. Isobel was the hockey-playing son he never had and she was his favorite daughter. They found out about Violet two years ago, she was the result of a one-night stand and now all three sisters co-own the team, as a condition to Clifford’s will.

“So let me get this straight. In prehistoric times, Petrov took your virginity and ‘forgot’ to give you an orgasm. He got chased off the property by Cliffie-boy wielding a hockey stick. Then a few years later, he shows up at your big game and sneaks into your hospital room to coma-stalk you even though he knows the maniac with the stick is probably looking to finish the ass-whuppin’. Two months ago, he’s traded in, finally makes up for the lost orgasms big time, but then shoots himself in the dick by going behind your back and ruining your chance at golden glory. Have I missed anything?”

“He’s kind of dramatic.”

“You couldn’t make this shit up. Hell, Dante’s not wrong. This family is a soap opera looking for a daytime network slot.”

Isobel Chase coach of the Rebels is determined to prove a female can be a success. They need to go to the playoffs and she is hoping Vadim can take them there. But first he needs to fully heal his injured knee. Isobel puts everything she has in helping him rehab but will her past feelings for Vadim play a huge factor in her goals which includes another possible chance in the Olympics that slipped away. Can this work?

Loved Isobel & Vadim's story. Great story line and the hotness between the two of them was awesome.

SO OVER YOU is the second book in Kate Meader's Chicago Rebels series centered around a hockey team full of hotties. This is the ideal book for readers who enjoy "second time around" love stories. Vadim Petrov and Isobel Chase enjoyed a sweet yet deliciously forbidden love affair in their youth, when he played for her father's team. Because of her dad's machinations, Isobel and Vadim were separated -- until now. Now she's the team owner, as well as his coach, and he's a hockey superstar in need of some special TLC. Now that they're all grown up, they find that the spark between them is still there and things get explosive very quickly.

Because Vadim has the dubious nickname "the Czar of Pleasure," and because things ended badly between him and Isobel years ago, I worried he might be a self-centered jerk just looking to pad his ego by pursuing Isobel again. That is not the case. I'm so glad that Kate Meader chose to tell this story from alternating perspectives, so that the reader can get a better feel for the two main characters. On the ice, Vadim has laser-like focus and can come across as cold, but when it comes to his kid sister and Isobel, his inner emo boy is revealed. This hidden vulnerability makes Vadim a more compelling character. Kate Meader includes enough of the history between Isobel and Vadim to have readers empathize with their regrets, their longing, and the joy that comes from reconnecting, without getting the story bogged down with too many flashbacks.

This hero and heroine have a lot in common, but have difficulty seeing themselves objectively. Vadim and Isobel both have siblings who mean the world to them, but they have complicated relationships because of fathers who cared more about hockey than people. I like the fact that Vadim and Isobel are both athletes and respect each other's passion and dedication to the game. Both characters are a little hardheaded and, with some grumbling and a little drama, they bring out the best in each other and promote a change of perspective. Kate Meader does a phenomenal job of telling a deeply emotional and character-driven story, while throwing in some sizzle and a few laughs.

SO OVER YOU is full of passion, fierce players with attitude, and a hard-won happy ending. Some of the supporting characters, like team trainer Kelly and Isobel's sister Violet, really pique my interest and make me eager to read more about them in future books. I look forward to Kate Meader's next Chicago Rebels novel.
