Thank you for the opportunities to read this book. I have attempted it on a number of occasions but unfortunately I haven’t been able to get into it.

I haven't been able to get into paranormal recently - so this was not the book for me. I requested it based on the cover and Taylor's other work.

I really don't quite know how to put my thoughts into words for this one! A truly unique novel.

This is one creepy and atmospheric book. The town of Roselock gives off the same creepy, old vibes as places like Stephen King's Derry, Maine. There's just this sense of something hanging over it, waiting to crash down.

Iona's fiance has been murdered, and Iona seeks the help of Sully, who bridges the gap between the living and the dead, so she can move on.

What seems like a love story is actually something a lot more twisted. Sully notices through their interactions that Jack seems to have some kind of hold over Iona. There's so many twists and turns, and certainly no happy endings!

A mix of horror, romance, supernatural and thriller, this book truly transcends genre and creates a whole twisted area of its own.

Oh wow! This book surprised me because it was very creative and unique. It has a dark and ominous feeling and I lived for it. Once I started reading, it was hard to stop. The ending was something else.

Three Heart Echo is about Iona Faye who is grieving the death of her fiance who was murdered in cold blood by a stranger. She decides to visit Sully Macintyre, a man who can open the gate that is separating the living and the dead to speak to those who are deceased. From there, the story picks up and doesn't let you go.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately, I have tried reading this book on 2 separate occasions and during that 2nd attempt, I have only managed to make it halfway through so I’d rather stop here and state that this book just wasn't for me.

Iona has been having a hard time getting over her fiance after his death months before when she learns of a psychic who will communicate with the dead- the perfect chance to say goodbye. Sully just wants to live out the short rest of his life in peace, within the walls of the crumbling church in his abandoned town- but fate has other ideas. When the two's lives cross, secrets and truths come tumbling forward.

Keary, WTH?! Really, I thought we were friends and then you go and do this to me and I am an emotional mess. Disclaimer folks- this is not a paranormal romance and don't expect a happy ending (if you do then you are reading the wrong book!) Three Heart Echo is an emotional thriller mystery type book where the pieces need to be put together or somebody might die- with a hint of paranormal for flavor. And this was a hard read because it was just so dark.

This review will be short (for me) and sweet so I don't spoil anything for those who don't like spoilers, but boy would I have loved some spoiling before I endeavored to read this book! Honestly, if I knew how everything would have played out, I am not sure I would have read this (and that is why you read the end of the book first!) When I finished, I just sat there for like ten minutes stewing and maybe a little bitter and a lot depressed, filled with the book and what I wish I could change about it and how I felt betrayed. But on the other hand, Keary did a great job of misdirection and getting me so very emotionally invested in the two very damaged people that narrated the story. I really had a hard time deciding on what to read next, at least a full day before I picked up a new title, I was so hesitant that I might be mislead by the next book too. Hands down, I need something happy and possibly ridiculous to read now so I am open to suggestions!

I am not sure I can recommend this book but it is perfect for those who like standalone dark thriller type stories.

Three Heart Echo by Keary Taylor ended up on my reading list by yet another mislabeling on NetGalley, I must admit. As seen in the title image above, the book is a paranormal suspense. If you’ve read my blog for any length of time, you’ll no doubt guess that I grabbed it from the horror genre titles. Fortunately, after revisiting its cover I can at least say that its actual genre is the right one. While Three Heart Echo does have some elements of horror, it reads more like a paranormal-themed Lifetime movie.

Taking place soon after the death of Jack Caraway, Three Heart Echo tells the story of two vastly different people meeting and, you guessed it, falling in love. It’s not that simple though, and several of the more twisted things that one might expect from a horror novel surface throughout the plot. Iona Faye, a frail woman mourning the death of her fiance, seeks out Sully Whitmore, a man rumored to be able to speak to the dead. Together, the two unravel the darkness of Jack’s past while racing against time to unravel not one, but two curses.

The plot is fairly linear, with only one unexpected twist at the end. That twist defines much of the book though, and I have to admit that I actually felt anger flare up within me. I’ve gotta give Taylor kudos for that one. What I don’t like, besides the heavily romantic subplot, is the fact that, as readers see in many romance books, we’re dealing with two Mary Sue characters. Iona is described as a beautiful fawn whilst Sully is a giant Viking of a man. Catch my drift? Oh, and poor dead Jack? Apparently, he’s a stunner too.

While the plot is straightforward, Taylor also alternates between perspectives on chapters. Now, as a reader, you may think I mean she goes back and forth between past and present. It’s common enough when we read books, after all. Unfortunately, what I mean is that Taylor switches between perspectives of Sully and Iona. For the most part, the switches follow a pattern. There is some story overlap/repetition within those shifts, but it isn’t terrible. What perturbs me about these perspectives is that every now and then, there’s a break to the pattern where it may take some readers a moment to realize that the book has suddenly shifted to the past without warning.

Back to the romance side of things, there are far too many cliches. Poor, helpless main character gets an indescribable pain in their chest and they can’t fathom why it feels like their heart races when they look upon their love interest. As if that’s not bad enough, you know from the get-go that there’s going to be a love story involved. It’s not well enough to leave it a paranormal suspense, we might as well make it a romance too. Because y’know, two attractive people can’t simply be friends!

Speaking of chest pain, there’s another thing about this book that absolutely irked me. I could understand if one character had an odd need to count things. It happens and OCD is a real thing; but, what I’m referring to, is the need by both characters to take exactly five steps, to blink four times, to wait for three heartbeats before they do something so much as take a breath.

Finally, what the hell is a grand opus? The actual term is magnum opus. I’lll hope it was just a typo that was fixed in the final, published copy of the Three Heart Echo. Overall, the story itself is engaging to a degree, but it definitely wasn’t my style. I think it belongs more in the paranormal romance genre than it does horror.

I’d like to thank NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free copy for the purpose of review.

The story starts off with Iona being so desperate to talk to her dead boyfriend. She learns about a man named Sully who lives in a far off deserted village who happens to have the power of talking to the dead.
As Iona's dead boyfriend, Jack's death is not a natural end, she wants to know the truth behind why he was murdered. Sully helps her to contact Jack but then everything goes wrong. Sully gets to know new things and Iona gets into an obsession. What happens next, you have to know by reading the book.
I especially loved the lore in the book. Because Iona has her own backstory, jack has his own, Sully has his own and the best of all, the village Roselock itself has its own twisted backstory.
The first half of the book is particularly engaging and even though the second half feels dragged, it is still a pretty good page turner. The portrayal of the horrors of Roselock is well carried all throughout the book.
The mild twist in the ending is pretty good and as we think its all well by then, it comes as a bit of a shock. It doesn't have a happy ending but it still feels satisfactory as it sticks to its lore. It kind of shows that you cannot stop the inevitable.
Iona and Sully characters are well portrayed. And although the lore and the plot deals with paranormal stuff, author did a pretty good job in making it all believable.
It's a perfect blend of paranormal, mystery and romance genres.

I didn't want to write this review. Still don't. Not because this book doesn't deserve one, but because I feel like my amateurish words can't really do it justice.

This book was spectacular. An eclectic mix of mystery, ghost story, criminal investigation, romance and paranormal suspense, and a uniquely fleshed out plot about two lost souls finding unexpected solace in one another while fighting for their lives.

When Iona's fiancé Jack is murdered right before her eyes, she isn't able to cope. She can't eat, can't sleep, can't stop grieving for the lost love of her life. In order to find some semblance of closure, she seeks out Sully, a recluse who's said to have the ability to contact ghosts. Sully, haunted by his very own deadly curse, doesn't like the attention his gift brings with it. When he reluctantly agrees to let Iona speak to her lost soul mate, he instantly feels that something isn't right - he just can't put a finger on it. As Iona's condition keeps worsening, they realize that Sully isn't the only one running out of time, and that he might have just unknowingly sealed her fate.

What a creepy, addicting, unique story! I can safely say that I have never read anything remotely like this. This book will fuck with your head, make you question everything and long for answers right along with the protagonists. Full of surprises, mystery and tragedy.
I binge read this within a couple of hours yesterday, and I could kick myself for not picking it up way earlier.

Do heed the author's warning, though: There will be no happy endings.

Meet Sully and Iona, a grieving widow, and a gifted medium. The story is told from both their points of view and is set in the mysterious town of Roselock where it’s not safe to go out after dark and strange things happen.

Years ago a curse was placed on the town and Sully is the last surviving inhabitant. He knows he can’t escape the past, the town or his destiny and that his time on earth will soon end.

Following the death of her fiance, Jack, Iona heads to Roselock in search of a resolution to her grief. She seeks out Sully wanting his help as he has the gift, or curse, of being able to speak to the dead. Without Sully’s help, Iona cannot move on with her life so reluctantly he decides to helps her but in doing so he learns that Iona is still connected to her fiancé in more ways than she realized.

Can Sully’s ‘curse’ help Iona overcome her all-encompassing grief, and will he be able to avoid the terrible fate he is destined for?

It starts as a love story, moving on to become an intriguing murder mystery entangled with ghostly communications, a search for the truth, historic events and further tragedy.

The characters are so vividly well written that it is almost like watching a movie and the whole book is full of atmospheric intrigue that is so compelling it’s almost impossible to put the book down!

I’m not sure I would class this as a horror, it for me is more of a psychological, supernatural thriller and as the book description warns, there will be no happy endings, the ending is not what you expect. Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out the story takes a completely different turn of events!

I can’t recommend this book highly enough, it is a story that you remember for a very long time.

A truly gripping story. A dark and truly tragic read. Fantastic.

Keary Taylor integrates myth and fantasy, psychology and murder, and love and longing so skillfully and beautifully in this wonderful novel. Sully's tortured ancestry and impending doom meet Iona's bewildering loss and downward spiral with deft twists and layers. It is a story both heartbreaking and relentlessly hopeful and a fantastic read.

Well, I'm kind of in shock right now (I think in a good way)! This book gives new meaning to the phrase, "I see dead people"! While I'm not usually drawn to the paranormal, I do love suspense so that was a plus. But I ended up loving this (after I threw the book across the room--figuratively-- as my kindle wouldn't survive)! I was so mad/frustrated at the end, but of course that's what the author had in mind. Themes of obsessive love, passion, appearance vs reality, how the dead can influence the living seemed quite Hitchcockian to me and who can imitate or echo the Master of Suspense? Well, clearly Keary Taylor can! I may have vivid dreams abut this one but it was well worth it!

Sully lives in a church in a run down town where he speaks to the dead for company. Years ago a curse was placed on the town of Roselock and Sully is the last surviving inhabitant. He knows he cant escape the past, the town or his destiny and that his time on earth will soon end.
Iona is heartbroken after the murder of her fiancé Jack and seeks Sully’s help to find answers. Reluctantly he agrees and in doing so discovers a dead person is the only one with a key to giving Iona back her life. Opening the gate between the living and the dead reveals someone who abused his position of trust and Iona’s love and who remains evil in the other world.
This story is set in a town where its not safe to go out after dark and strange things happen at night eg someone keeps unearthing the dead.
A story of obsession, possession, love and an ending guaranteed to leave you breathless and stunned.
It was impossible for me to single out a favourite character, as I loved all of them (good and bad).
This was an absolute mind-wrenching star of a book for me so much so I tried to continue reading as I walked to work and had to be almost prised away from it. The author did a fantastic job of putting this storyline together.
Highly recommend this for those who enjoy a thriller with plenty paranormal suspense.

Wow... seriously?! What the.... did I just read? Hands down to Keary Taylor for her creativity! WOW... I honestly am not sure how to rate this book. But, my goodness I have never in my life read a book like this.... like EVER haha.

Is this a love story do you ask?! This is one demented and heart wrenching love story. There are NO happy endings in this book. Be PREPARED to have your heart and gut pulled on multiple times in this story.

I sat on this for awhile this evening because I couldn't come to terms with my overall thoughts. This is probably the hardest review I've ever had to write on a book. I could not put this down.. I devoured it in a day and a half. This is a weird one folks I tell you... but in a good way ;).

Iona Faye shows up on Sully's doorstep in the town of Roselock. Roselock is a creepy and old town that has a sinister and dark history. Loved the atmosphere of this town! Sully has a unique gift of being able to bridge the gap between the living and the dead.

Iona Faye's fiance Jake has been murdered and she is desperately seeking answers to understand what happened to her love. Sully, cautiously at first starts to talk to Jack on the other side to help Iona find answers about her fiance's muder. Sully starts to notice that something isn't quite right between Iona and Jack's interactions...... Sully has this gut wrenching feeling that Jack has some sort of hold on Iona.

Three Heart Echo is a dark story about obsession, horror, love, and dysfunction to a CORE. My god... I am not going to ever forget this book. I am a very spiritual person, so I was drawn to the paranormal aspect of this one and am glad I took a chance on reading this one. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for something fresh and different!

I admit it, I’m a readaholic and proud of it. Having said that, I have never read a book quite like this one! I actually finished it a few days ago but delayed writing my review to give myself more time to come to terms with all that happens in it. Yes, there are aspects of romance, mystery, horror, suspense and paranormal in it but they are crafted together into a unique, very readable masterpiece that really doesn’t fit into any lone genre other than its own.

It is a real page turner that had me enthralled from beginning to end. It starts as a love story, moving on to become an intriguing murder mystery entangled with ghostly communications, a search for the truth, historic events and further tragedy. Every time I thought I knew what would happen next, the author threw in another curve ball to unsettle me again! As the blurb says, in this story ‘there will be no happy endings’. This is definitely one to add to the top of your tbr pile IMHO.

I requested and was given a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.

Seriously!?!? I mean seriously! What did I just read??????

This book gets major props for being very original and creative. This book sat on my currently reading list for quite some time..why???? Well since you asked, because it was weird. Initially I couldn't figure out what I thought of this strange creepily atmospheric book. But then I decided to give it the old college try. The result, once I got past my initial reaction to this book, I could not put it down! This is a strange one folks - but strange in a really good creepy atmospheric way!

Speaking of atmosphere, I thought this was a nice touch. Roselock is a town with a dark history. The ghosts of the town come out at night to re-play the past evils of the town. The atmosphere is creepy and haunting. Thus, making the atmosphere a character in this book as well...the reason if you will that you do not leave the church at night....but enough about that..

"Sully's gift is also my demise."

Iona Faye's fiance, Jack, has been murdered. She comes to a man living in a Church in Roselock by the name of Sully. Sully acts as a conduit between the living and the dead. His family has a long history in Roselock and Sully himself has a cursed life. All the men in his family die when they are 33 years, 3 months and 3 days old. Sully has just turned 33 years old and time is running out for him. Iona is having a hard time dealing with her fiance's death. She wishes to speak to him one last time.

Sully notices that something is not quite right between Iona and Jack's interactions. Even though he is dead, Jack seems to have some influence over Iona. Speaking of Iona, her family is concerned about her. She is wasting away before their eyes and she has distanced herself from them prior to Jack's Murder. Sully also notices that Iona is not eating well and appears to be weak. Just what the heck is going on?????

The book's blurb tells us that this is not a love story..that it is a story of possession. That it is but how and in what way?

I wont say much more about the plot but that there is definitely more going on than meets the eye. There are revelations and dark secrets which are revealed. People are not always as they seem or as they present themselves to be.

Initially I gave this book 3.5 stars but moved the rating up to a 4 as it was original and creative. I loved the use of atmosphere and I also loved the title which I initially thought was strange but as I read it became clear. Both characters are dealing with echos of the past and there is significance as to the number 3.

This book was creative all the way around. I am glad I kept with it as it was a pleasant surprise. This book has a little bit of everything: ghosts, death, lies, deceit, attraction, love, etc. Was I shocked by the ending? Yes and no. One thing did not come by surprise but one did. So kudos to the Author for that surprise. I found this book to be very well thought out and original. It is the perfect book to read in the fall when the nights seem long and Halloween is upon us!

I received a copy of this book from Keary Taylor and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Since we’re entering into the Halloween season this is a great book to have on your shelf to get ready for that creeped out feeling. The cover is engaging and begs you to come in; this is a sirens call you should answer so you can discover a compelling story about love, life, death and the binds that hold instead of breaking.

The plot dabbles in horror, suspense, and paranormal as we follow Iona through the grieving process. Rather than find a therapeutic way to heal, she chooses a darker path that will have you glued to the pages NEEDING answers.

I loved that as creepy as the plot is the reason you can get into it so much is because we are given complex characters with full developed backstories, motivations, emotions, everything you could want so you can drop out of your life and into theirs.

If you love getting that skin tingling, hair standing up on the back of your neck feeling, wait til night and pull this out. The author warns you up front there won’t be any happy endings so be prepared to get hooked from page one and not want to put this down til the ride is over.

I've been a major fan of Keary Taylor ever since I read the Bane Chronicles. There's just something so engaging with her writing that draws you into her characters' worlds immediately. But, like the other Keary Taylor books that I've read, Three Hearts Echo is quite different in the genre. It's not a romance book. It's not a fantasy book. And it's not a science fiction book. In fact, Three Hearts Echo is a frightening, spine-tingling, can't-quite-put-this-book-down kind of novel that leaves you breathless at the very end.
As the synopsis tells you, Three Hearts Echo begins with a very oddly possessive couple. The heroine is a sweet, mild, and gentle woman who, under suspect circumstances, become entangled in a very possessive romance. I won't give spoilers here, but I guarantee you won't want to put the book down because each page leads you deeper into the mystery. Oh, and did I mention about the ending being quite a shocker? Yeah, it's a very huge shocker that makes you wonder about everything you have just read!
Well done, Ms. Taylor! Three Hearts Echo is reminiscent of Edgar Allen Poe's writing where the words are so mesmerizing that you can't help but read on until you're completely satisfied. And then, you still want more.
