Can't Walk Away, Sandy James

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:Romance

I love romances set in the music/fame world and this seemed to be right up my street. Well, I enjoyed it, it was a decent read but sadly not the spark for the magic five.

Brad and his friends were a great trio, and that kind of close friendship is to be valued.
I understood his feelings of betrayal over what he discovered after his loss. I did get irritated with him at times when he seemed to think he knew best what Savannah wanted from her career.
Savannah, devoted to her daughter, loves her music and after the disaster of her career years before she's being very careful this time round. Sometimes though I felt she was OTT in her reactions to Brad, that she didn't seem to realise he's not a mind reader and she needed to make very clear how she felt.

Its a sweet romance, with some sensual and emotional moments, but overall I just didn't feel any strong emotion coming from it, nothing that really made me really happy for the characters, or really upset, sad, felt down for them. Even right with the events at the end I didn't really feel that kind of angst that I wanted.

Stars: Four, a sweet, well written romance but a little light on angst and drama for me.

This is my first book by this author and I definitely want to read more. This wasa really terrific story about a singles moms rise to popularity in the country music scene. It was sweet and romantic but also showed both the good and the bad of making it.

Brad was a terrific character and he along with his 2 best friends own a restaurant/nightclub. On amateur night he hears Savannh, single mom waitress sing and he falls hard. Savannah has tried for fame before and she knows its not what she wants and so she has to learn howto mauever the country music life while not letting it take over.

This was a really terrific story and I loved everyone except for Michael. I cannot wait for more in this series. Thi story stands alone and has a HEA ending.

Unexpected. Sweet. Sexy. Down Right Heartwarming. Those are the words that I'd choose to describe Can't Walk Away.

Can't Walk Away follows the story of Brad and Savannah. Once upon a time, Brad was one of Nashville's biggest stars. That was until life threw him an unexpected curve ball, taking all if his passion with him. Now instead of writing and singing music, he finds himself tending bar, trying to escape the pain of the past. All is going the way that Brad has planned...that is until Brad meets Savannah...Savannah always dreamed of singing for a crowd, but being a single mom has kept that one dream out of her reach. So, when Brad offers Savannah her golden opportunity, she can't help but jump at the chance. The only problem, her scorching hot chemistry with Brad. She tells herself not to fall for him, but that might just prove to be easier said than done....

Overall, I thought Can't Walk Away was a quick and easy read. I thought the characters were likable and couldn't wait to get into their story. I loved the pull between Brad and Savannah. Brad had the worst reputation, but you could tell that there was more to this bad boy than meets the eye, he's just got to open his heart and mind to it. I liked that Brad took things slow with Savannah. Yes, their pull was undeniable, but I enjoyed seeing these two get to know one another and ease their way into something more.

Can't Walk Away was unexpected in the best way. This story is well written and is one that you can easily finish in just one sitting. I thought this story had just the right mix of sweet and sexy with a little drama along the way. This is my first book by this author, and I look forward to checking more of her books in the future.
