This author was new to me and I am glad I got this book for a honest review. Rory and Dawn went to high school together but didn't hang in the same circle. They wanted to buy her bookstore but she didn't want to sell. I enjoyed this storyline and the characters.

Was overall really surpised at how well the story outside of the erotic scenes was written. Normally when I pick up titles such as these the story reads hollow and feels like a breadcrumb trail leading to the next steamy section. The characters in this story feel real and I would definetly read another title if this was to be turned into a series.

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

Rory Parker and Dawn went to high school together. They did not belong in same circle but now Rory needs to buy Dawn's book store out in order for him to renovate the shops. He really believed he could change Dawn's mind on her lease until he saw her.
Tantric book store owner Dawn had eccentric personality and risqué store that wasn't pleasing many men including Rory's father. Rory and Dawn has been emailing each other and she was enticed with offer she couldn't refuse but she knew she couldn't abandon her store and she would never back down from the challenge.
When Rory walked into Dawn's bookstore, it brought many memories from high school days. He was aware of her but they didn't really hang out with each other. But he really wanted to get to know her and he won't try dirty tricks like his father and his goonies were using.
Rory wanted to get to know Dawn and they agree to have a summer fling. They were enjoying each other's company but Dawn couldn't really open up to Rory until she really trusts him.
It suppose to be a simple summer fling but their feelings are involved and Dawn is afraid she will lose her store and him. Will it end their relationship or will they overcome their differences and find their HEA?

I did really enjoyed this book. I really loved Dawn and Rory. Dawn wasn't afraid to show her sexuality and they were explosive..
Thanks to netgalley and Loveswept for my ARC in exchange for honest review.

As always when first diving into a new world created by an author, there are many questions and catching up to do. I think Jamie K. Schmidt did a good job of explaining her world and characters. I very much enjoyed the characters and their interactions with one another. The Romance was spot on and entirely believable and easy to become invested in.

Hard Cover was a fun introduction to a new-to-me author. I'll definitely pick up more by her based on it strengths which far outweighed the negatives. It took me a little longer than I'd like to connect to the MC but once I did, I was hooked.

It took a while for me to really get into Hard Cover. It didn’t enthrall me as much as Stud did, but it was a good book. And again, Jamie K. Schmidt tackled another tough subject, brought to light just what drugs can do to a person and how it affects those around them.
Well, Rory came off as one snooty son-of-a-bitch. He got what he wanted, when he wanted it and would pay whatever he needed to get it. It usually worked on everyone. Not Dawn. There is something about this feisty, multi-colored hair woman that
Dawn had a huge chip in her shoulder, was stubborn, out-spoken and believed in standing on her own two feet. No help from her uptight father, no help from anyone and she refuses to sell out for any amount of money. But, she will agree to dirty sex with the man who is trying to shut down Tantric Books. Of course, he doesn’t know that he’s being filmed.
As Rory pulls out all the stops to get Dawn to sell and Dawn digs in, they find out they have a lot more in common than a bed. Rory starts helping Dawn see the potential in her business with some upgrades. Dawn starts seeing the vulnerable and generous side of Rory. Together, they start getting through to his once comatose sister, find ways to make her business fit the new look of the town and possibly run the bad guy out of town. Until tragedy strikes, and truths come out.
I loved the ending of this story. Rory really won my heart. And, the Epilogue was the best. But, like I said, I did have some problems with the story, including the part of the ending. Dawn ran hot and cold throughout the story and sometimes really frustrated me. What was supposed to be cute banter between the two of them was more like them trading barbs … other times it was laugh out loud funny. But, all in all, I truly enjoyed Hard Cover and look forward to reading more of Ms. Schmidt. Her books always seem to have a deeper meaning, an underlying story that needs to be told. I really appreciate an author with a conscience and a need to help people understand some of the problems that are in our world. It’s refreshing to read a good love story with a moral to it.

I liked this book. I liked that Dawn wasn’t your usual bookstore owner. She is a feminist, had purple hair and tattoos and her store was basically for women and their sexual desires. When Rory, her ex-classmate came to the store and tried to get her to sell it she was determined not to. He was the rich kid and she was the rebel bad girl wildflower. Rory always liked her He thought she was pretty. Their chemistry was combustible and, although they seem like opposites, they rounded each other out.

Just finished reading, Hard Cover. It wasn't my favorite book but also not the worst one that I have read. I'll give it 3 stars overall. I liked Dawn's character, thought she was funny. Not all that into the male lead, Rory. I didn't feel the connection between the two.
Overall, it was an OK book, with Dawn's character being the most interesting one. The ending was kind of expected but a bit rushed.

Well written story but after reading the blurb it sort of disappointed me a bit. It lacks drama and depth to the story. The characters lacks chemistry and depth. But it has a lot of potential to be much more that this.

This book was really good. I loved the unconventional love story between rory and dawn. I love the way he fought for her against his family for his true love. All she had was her bookstore and he made sure she could keep it against all odds!

A realistic billionaire romance scenario with a nice guy
I liked this contemporary romance, but there were a few things that bothered me.
Rory and Dawn were complicated, vibrant characters, each with their own vulnerabilities and minor flaws. The novella is written in first person past tense perspective alternating between Rory and Dawn. This is one of the few books I have read where the first person perspective does not irritate me. The sex might be spicy and frequent enough to classify it as an erotic romance, but thankfully there was a solid plot and lots of great character development. There is a lot of dirty language and swearing, but it fit the characters well.
I admire the author for bringing in the theme of heroin addiction and its consequences, but it made this book a little bit too gritty for me. Rory’s younger sister had overdosed on heroin a few years ago, and she is slowly recovering from her coma and brain damage. Rory shortsightedly thinks that if he gentrifies the waterfront business district of their small town, then no one will sell drugs there again. Well, Rory’s former high school classmate Dawn has a women’s bookstore that Rory wants to buy out. Dawn doesn’t want to sell, but she does want to flirt. I loved how they got to know each other and how they occasionally discussed really important, deeply personal topics. I admired Dawn’s strength, determination, and her desire to empower women. The ending was wonderfully romantic and happy.
I loved the first few love scenes. They were hot and steamy. However, the couple added an accessory to later love scenes that Dawn was wild about, but it sounded really uncomfortable to me. It ruined the later love scenes for me.
I recommend this novella to readers who want a realistic, gritty billionaire romance with a mostly respectful hero and some kinky sex.
