I read this book with my 8year old son. He loves the Hotel Transylvania movies and he enjoyed this book. The story kept him laughing, and the bright pictures enhanced the story for him.

As expected from a movie tie-in this isn't a deep, thought-provoking tale, but it will do the job for fans of the film.

A great, fun graphic novel that would capture kids imaginations and have them laughing out loud. Although it's based on a tv show you don't have to have watched it to enjoy the graphic novel, it stands alone as an absorbing read for comic book lovers.

'Hotel Transylvania Graphic Novel Vol. 1: Kakieland Katastrophe' by Stefan Petrucha with art by James Silvani is the first graphic novel based on the film series of the same name. The reader is strongly advised to see the films before reading or things may not be very clear.

Business at the Hotel Transylvania is booming now that a new theme park has opened up next door. When horror novelist Stephen Cling visits and takes a series of selfies with the monsters, he uses the internet to make people afraid. When humans wielding pitchforks and torches show up, the gang knows they need to prove they aren't all that scary.

The gags are pretty funny and the characters feel pretty true to the movies. The story feels like standard kids comic book fare, which is fine if your kids are fans of the movies. I felt like the art was pretty mediocre, but it serves the story well enough.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Papercutz and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

Being a fan of hotel Transylvania I immediately wanted to check out this side story. I love the premace of having a horror writer, who sounds very familiar coming to the hotel. It was a cute, adventurous and enchanting tale that kept everything that was loveable in the series thriving. I will certainly get more graphic novels of Hotel Transylvania in the future. Anyone who loves the movies and now tv show will love this book.

I have not seen any of the Hotel Transylvania movies so my reading experience was probably not as intense as it could have been. The characters are hilarious but I'm lackning something and got bored just a couple of pages in. But the movies are no on my to-watch-list...

A big thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. I voluntarily reviewed this book. I know nothing about graphic novels. Are they for children? I liked the movie Hotel transylvania so I thought I would give this a go.. I found the art good and the story fun. I think if you like graphic novels and liked the movie you should try this.

This is pretty much what I expected from a media-tie-in graphic novel. There is little to no characterization apart from that which we got in the movies. And it definitely presumes that we're familiar with the events of both films. The story is okay, sort of rehashing of the themes of the first movie.

Everyone's favourite monster family is back with a new graphic novel featuring all the great characters from the movies.

Theme park boss Stephen Cling is out to undo all the good work Dracs has done and make the public think monsters are scary again by putting some misleading pictures on the internet. Unfortunately Dracs just isn't so good at showing that not everything you read online is true.

This first volume of the Hotel Transylvania graphic novels is a great start to a new story line which looks like it may be aimed more at the kids but the adults will love it too.

Stefan Petrucha has done a great job of bringing modern day problems such as not believing everything you see on the internet as truth into this story and manages to have it read as if it was right out of the movie.

It is a little on the short side at 64 pages with the story managing to wrap up for no lead in to a next volume but it is still a great read with enjoyable moments.

I read this graphic novel with my daughter, and it was just okay. The art wasn’t all that impressive and my daughter lost interest in the story about halfway through. I enjoyed the story, though I wish it had been longer.

Thanks go out to NetGalley for providing the graphic novel in exchange for an honest review.

I am a big fan of the Hotel Transylvania series ( as I am of most smart talking animated series). This book is a spin-off from the movie Hotel Transylvania 1 &2 and starts off with the well oiled functioning of the Hotel. The spanner in the works is a man bent on driving the residents out. It does not have the exact flair of the movie but does a good job of mimicking the relationships and some quirky dialogues synonymous with the characters we have come to know and love ( If you have previous knowledge of the series that is)

I'm a shameless Hotel Transylvania fan (Drac fan here). Engaging storyline with illustrations that continue the style and feel of the Hotel Transylvania movies.

I loved the Hotel Transylvania movies and this start of the graphic novel series is very good. It kept the style and look of the movies while doing whole new story lines. Very well down an excellent book I want to own a physical copy of it now. Can't wait for the next one.

4 stars.
Such a fun read! I absolutely love the movie so getting to meet the characters all over again in a brand new story was just wonderful. The illustrations are really colourful and I really like added humor. If you are a fan of the movie or even if you have not seen it, I recommend reading this. I hope there will be more in the series.

Fun and enjoyable. It was missing some of the trademark Drac Pack wit but a great read nonetheless.

If you enjoy the Hotel Transylvania-movies, you'll like this. If you don't, you might still like it. This graphic novel stays true to the movies, right down to the little quirks in the different characters, all while taking on serious subjects matters without turning them into something meant for laughs and without making it preachy. I loved the way the issues between monsters and humans were told and sorted out, but the ending did feel a little rushed and like it could use another page or three to get things resolved properly. All in all a good read, and mad kudos to everyone involved for not only capturing the characters well in illustrations, but also in writing.

ARC Copy..it was a fun read but felt it lacks the zany-hyper fast pace of the original movies (along with the borderline satire) but still was a fun.

This summer I watched Hotel Transylvania with my cousin for the first time. There was a short animation from it that played in the theatre before The Emoji Movie (which I also loved despite all the negative reviews) so I wanted to watch the full movie when we got home. I really liked it. When I saw that there was a graphic novel available on NetGalley, I had to have it!

This is a great graphic novel for kids. It had a lot of slapstick comedy which kids love. The characters stayed true to the movie, with similar humour, such as Drac getting words mixed up.

I also liked the way that the battle between monsters and humans was portrayed. It takes on a racial discrimination quality. This happens when Drac's grandson has to wonder if he should hate himself because he is half-monster, and the humans are supposed to hate monsters.

I kind of wondered if the villain, Stephen Cling, is named after another famous writer. His name sounds suspiciously like my favourite horror author...

I really enjoyed this book. Kids who love Hotel Transylvania should definitely read it!
