I totally enjoyed reading 69 Million Things I Hate About You by Kira Archer, the first book in her Winning the Billionaire series. Personal assistant Kiersten Abbott wins sixty-nine million dollars in the lotto and realizes she has more than enough money to quit her highly demanding job. Instead she decides to stay on the job and exact a little revenge on her insufferable jerk of a boss. It doesn’t take billionaire Cole Harrington long to figure out that something’s wrong with his delightful assistant once he discovers the office pool on how long it will take for him to fire her. So he decides to spice things up and see how far he can push her until she quits. The game is on, with everyone waiting to see who will crack first. However the bet starts a new dynamic between them, and soon they realize they just might have crossed that fine line between hate and love.

I really loved reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. Ms. Archer wove a wonderful story full of laughs, jokes, and love, drawing me in and not letting go until I read the last page. I highly recommend this book to other readers and can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Kiersten and her besties- Izzy and Cassie- are roommates and all work in the same office- Harrington Enterprises- the biggest think tank and development firm in Manhattan. Marie was first assistant to Cole Harrington who was the founder of the company. Kiersten was second assistant and Marie passed off a lot of the work to Kiersten. Marie and Kiersten were going to Cole’s office. When they got their Cole only had on a loose pair of sweatpants and was on his treadmill working out. Marie told Cole through the door as he had just showered that she would be out of touch this weekend but Kiersten would be on call to him. Cole told marie to cancel whatever she had going on and marie said she couldn’t it was her wedding. Then Marie quit as she had given Cole plenty of advance notice of her wedding. Then Cole told Kiersten that she had been promoted and he hope she ;lasted longer than his last three assistants. Working with Marie had been great training. Koersten had been pretty much running Cole’s life anyway. Only now kiersten had to deal with Cole herself. Kiersten could finally show what she was made of and get credit for the work she was already doing. Not to mention as nice raise her bank account would gladly receive. Then Cole gave her the phone Marie had left and told Kiersten to keep the phone on her at all times as he kept odd hours. Consider herself on call.. Cole also told her to get a hold of HR and to send over the paperwork for her new position and to make sure she was up to date on all his pending contracts and current projects. Cole wanted no problems just because he had a different first assistant. If she needed help for passwords or anything to get into the computer get ahold of IT and to get everything changed. Then go to security to get a new badge as she would need an upgrade. She would also need to be at his apartment for voice recognition and fingerprint software to be upgraded by Cole’s security. Then Kiersten was informed she had to go to the conference that weekend that he was speaking at. Brook was Cole’s best friend and business partner. Cole told Brook he didn’t date as he didn't have time then Brook told Cole to make time maybe that would loosen Cole up. Cole always had a woman when he needed or wanted one as yet he hadn’t found a woman that made him want to change and have a relationship with her. Cole had a very strict mock prenup written up and after he had made his first hundred million a woman had been more interested in money then matrimony. It had broke Cole’s heart but also took several millions to keep her from writing a tell-all book and selling it to the highest bidder. Now the women Cole seen signed a non-disclosure agreements. It had been six months and Kiersten had been nothing but strictly professional. The more prim and proper Kiersten behaved the more tempted Cole was to break his anti-office romance rule. Kiersten and her friends Izzy and cassie played the lottery every week then a miracle happened and the girls won big time. Kiersten realized she didn’t have to be at Cole’s beck and call anymore. She didn’t have to work for Cole or anyone else. Izzy and Cassie were going to quit their jobs as well as Kiersten as they never had to work again. Kiersten then decided she wanted to make Cole fire her instead of her quitting. After Cole caught on he was determined to make Kiersten quit.
Great, easy, fun and extremely enjoyable romance. I loved this book as well as the plot and pace. It was a quick read but a whole story. I loved Brooks and Cole’s relationship as well as Izzy, Cassie’s and Kierstens relationships. I couldn’t find anything I didn’t love about this book and that is always great. I loved Cole and Kiersten together. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend.

Great characters. The book itself was a slow starter but gradually got better as it went on and the dares got more… Well, daring.

Usually, after someone wins the lottery, especially an amount like 69 million, they immediately quit their job, and sometimes there are not nice words involved. LOL However, for personal assistant, Kiersten, she decides to go out with a bang, at the expense of her boss, and yeah, he may have some of those words aimed his way too.

Cole, a billionaire, knows something is going on when his usually agreeable assistant no longer is. When Cole learns there's a pool going to see how long it'll take him to fire Kiersten, he decides to enjoy himself with the situation, and push her until she quits.

Everyone is eagerly watching the two battle it out, anxious to see who'll be the victor, yet not wanting the show to end. However, Kiersten's bank account isn't the only thing changing because she and Cole are beginning to look at one another differently, with a spark that's even more intense than their battle.

Who will win? Do either of them even care anymore now that something much more important, and possibly permanent, is on the line? Can these two join sides and fight for their HEA instead?

One-click now and follow along as two people go from boss and employee, to opponents, to forever.

cole harrington is the world's worst boss. he's inconsiderate and demanding and there are literally so many reasons kiersten abbott has to hate him. 69 million things i hate about you covers all the tiny ways cole makes kiersten's life impossible. and when one lucky evening she wins 69 million dollars in the lottery, she decides that turnabout is fair play.

so she decides that it is her turn to make his life impossible. she figures that with his inability to endure inconvenience the first time she lets her attitude slip he'll fire her.

but he doesn't.

and as things escalate to more outrageous behavior, cole finds himself enchanted by the feistiness his former perfect assistant is showing. by all accounts he should fire her. but ever the contrarian he knows this is what she wants. and even with the attitude she is still the best assistant he will ever have. he knows this.

besides, the more inappropriate kiersten is, the more he wants to spend time with her. the more he enjoys her company. and if that isn't a contradiction, who knows what is. kiersten was always gorgeous and he's always noticed her more than he let on. but now, she is unforgettable and there is no way that cole will ever be willing to let her go.

and oh, it's just an absolutely perfect workplace romance. there is so much heat and spark between cole and kiersten. and as things escalate around them, you can't help but love the interplay.

Kiersten Abbott finds her job too demanding, especially since she has a boss that makes sure she doesn't have much of a life outside of work. However, when Kiersten and her friends win sixty-nine million dollars in the lotto, she decides she's going to drive her boss crazy by acting totally unlike herself before Cole Harrington either fires her or she quits. But with the office staff betting to see how long she'll last once she starts to challenge Cole, Kiersten knows she can't give up. Yet, the longer their game of seeing who can get the upper hand goes, the more Kiersten finds herself growing closer to Cole and surrendering to the chemistry that bounces between them. Will Cole be able to win her over or will their chance at happy ever after never happen?

Ever since reading the first book of Ms. Archer's Sweet Love series, I've come to really enjoy reading the rest of her books, but this story definitely takes top place on my list of this authors best. Really, it had everything I adore in a contemporary romance novel with its perfect blend of humour and romance that had me reading quickly, determined to discover what the heroine would do next in hopes of getting Cole to fire her; and compelling main characters that had me wanting to know how far Kiersten was willing to go to win the battle in whether Cole will fire her or whether she'll quit her job.

As for the dialogue, it was highly entertaining and made this story a real page turner, as Kiersten certainly knows how to rile Cole and get under his skin with everything she does, which had me laughing out loud and smiling throughout this book. However, it wasn't only the main characters that had me hooked. Cole and Kiersten's friends definitely bring a little extra something special to this story that has me wanting to read more about them, especially Brooks with the way he stirs Cole about Kiersten.

With the main characters, Kiersten seems sweet and innocent in the beginning when she first accepts the job as Cole's personal assistant. Yet, she's anything but, when it comes to her plans for revenge. Truly, what she plans for Cole and his billionaire friends at one moment in the book had me smiling, as Kiersten is ingenious in giving the hero an experience he'll never forget. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine was her determination to outlast Cole. While the hero, he's insufferable as a boss and yet I couldn't help but like that about him. He's also more than capable of going head-to-head with someone and coming out on top, and I liked how determined he was to beat the heroine at her game. No way would he give in. Then there's the close friendships the hero shares with his friends and the advice they give him when it comes to the heroine and pursuing something with her since it's palpable that Cole wants her. Will he accept their advice?

Overall, Ms. Archer has penned a splendid and thoroughly engaging read in this story where the chemistry between this couple was heady and convincing and had me wanting to know how long it would take this couple to move their relationship from platonic to physical; the romance was wonderfully persuasive and illustrated how great it is when enemies become lovers; and the ending had me charmed by what Cole does to win back Kiersten. His words are beautiful and prove how much he loves and appreciates that she's in his life. I would recommend 69 Million Things I Hate About You by Kira Archer, if you enjoy contemporary romance with a good dose of humour; the enemy to lovers trope; or books by authors Diane Alberts, Sarah Ballance, Naima Simone and Jenna Bayley-Burke.

This was so fun to read! The ongoing one upmanship between Cole and Kirsten was so entertaining it was pure bliss to read! It was fantastic twist to the usual billionaire and assistant romance that it may be time to invent its own trope. While Cole and Kristen may entertain readers with their shenanigans, it doesn't take away from the romance that was brewing between them. In fact the art of flirting was definitely put into good use by these two delightful characters and their ever present BFF sidekicks! I hope there is more from these bunch of characters in the works!

69 Million Things I Hate About You by Kira Archer is witty, intelligent, and so much fun to read.
Kiersten Abbott has been moved up to first assistant to Billionaire Cole Harrington. This man is infuriating and decides to see how much he can push Kiersten. When Kiersten wins the lotto with her friends, she decides to see how long it will take for Cole to fire her.

I loved Cole and Kiersten. Cole was a sweetheart under his gruff persona and Kiersten was entertaining. Their banter had me laughing constantly. The part with Cole’s mother was hoot! Eventually, there little game turns to something much deeper and they find themselves in love. Overall, it was an entertaining read. For those who love office romances, definitely grab this book.

When your boss thinks you’re his personal slave instead of his personal assistant and you suddenly don’t need your job anymore because you won the lotto… well, I would totally want to get a little payback too.

In 69 Million Things I Hate About You Kiersten had to put up with the most demanding and seemingly inconsiderate boss ever. From being accessible 24/7 to having to choose his outfits for the week, there’s nothing she didn’t do for Mr. Harrington. And yet he couldn’t even remember her name right.

Everything changes when Kiersten and her friends win the lotto and are suddenly billionaires themselves. While she could just quit her job, she opts for trying to get on her boss’ nerves and getting fired would be way more fun. It’s not long before there’s an office pool betting on how long it’ll take her to get the can.

Unfortunately for her, Cole finds out about her plan and decides to counter with driving her to quit first. So let’s just say they spend half the book trying to one-up each other in outlandish ways and it was hilarious.

Kiersten’s work ethic was completely commendable, and the patience to deal with Cole’s asshole-ish ways was of sainthood proportion. She was also funny, sweet and an all-around nice person. I loved it when she started showing her true self to Cole, allowing him to see her in a new light.

It’s needless to say that Cole was the kind of boss no one really wants to have, but besides being a tad thoughtless (like asking someone to move their wedding so she could do a work thing) he was not all bad. For starters he worked as hard, if not more, than anybody in his company. When he let loose, he was actually fun to be around and when made to realize the error of his ways he’d act on remedying his mistakes. He had some issues, sure, especially regarding women, but as we get to know him it was all understandable.

A totally relationship driven story, 69 Million Things I Hate About You was fun, light and completely hilarious at times. Kiersten and Cole’s gradual change of relationship was very well done and totally believable. Their chemistry was as hot as their schemes crazy, but in the end it was a truly lovely romance. I really liked their friends too, so I’m hoping we’ll get their stories soon.

This book was a quick, entertaining read. Like a frothy milkshake or yummy dessert that you enjoy during the 10 minutes it takes you to consume, then promptly forget about.

I thought the premise was fun and relatively novel, and I enjoyed the anticipation of Cole's eventual comeuppance (which didn't actually materialize, more on that later). I'm not sure I saw much of a change in his character, but then again, this isn't really that kind of book, I guess. It was just a fun, escapist read.

Very minor spoilers ahead.
I didn't understand the lines that Kiersten was drawing for herself - mess with her boss, but not too much? How was she going to work every day but not messing up anything important? Why not mess up all the files he made her re-staple, for example, if she was focused on not doing significant damage? I felt like this could have been explored in much more entertaining ways. This made the reason for the conflict between them at the end seem a little silly and forced to me, especially when it was resolved so easily. I would have loved to see a little more and a better resolution of the romance at the end. I like a heartfelt profession of love and acknowledgement of wrongs done, not a 5-second confession in front of a crowd and fade to black. There's a lot of chemistry and romantic tension throughout the book, but once they finally do get together, it's just sex for a couple chapters, conflict for a chapter or two, quick resolution, then curtain and quick exit. I'd love to have seen a little more here.

All that said though - I still enjoyed the book as escapist fare and would read another by this author. Thanks to the publisher for the entertaining read and for the chance to read an ARC provided through netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Kira Archer’s newest series “Winning the Billionaire” series, starts with “69 Million Things I Hate About You” was humorous and sweet. I could not read it fast enough to find out what creative ideas one can come up with to irritate a person to loss their cool or would the next ideal be the one to backfire.
Kiersten Abbot went to work for Cole Harrington as his backup assistant which meant she did all the work and no credit. It was her job to know his business. She pretty much ran his daily life. So when his personal assistant quit, she now was faced with working 24/7 directly with her despotic handsome boss. That is until a change in her fortune provides her a chance to quit. But before doing just that she figures it's a good opportunity for some fun schemes to see if she can get boss to loss it and fire her.
Cole Harrington may be a workaholic but he has noticed everything about his lovely assistant even when she was the backup assistant. But the work place is not a place for romance. So he figures something is amiss when the proper Kiersten starts acting like she wants to be fired. Cole decides to see how far she will go before she quits especially when a not so secret office pool is going on that he’ll fire her first.

Awesome contemporary billionaire romance with lots of humor. The author did a great job humanizing the characters in this story. Cole worked hard for his money and doesn't appreciate woman seeing his wealth and not him. He and his friends are humorous when being gently cut down by Cole's new assistant Kiersten. She starts a campaign to see how far she can push her to fire her and he pushes her back so she'll quit. It makes them see a different side of the other. I enjoyed the banter as well. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I Very much look forward to reading future books by Ms. Archer.

QuickShot Review 3.5 stars (yes I always round up)
What would you do if you won the lottery and you wanted to get a bit of revenge on said demanding boss? Then you realize you’re in love with the ass? This is the problem that Keirsten faces.

The perfect fantasy scenario for anyone who’s ever worked as an assistant to a demanding boss is the plot for this romance and can I tell you? As someone who’s worked as an assistant for a long time? It’s certainly a revenge fantasy I could buy into. Well, except for the love part. And none of my bosses have ever looked like Cole Harrington. But I digress. Let’s carry on.

I thought the characters were fun, the plot was enjoyable, there’s good chemistry between Cole and Keirsten and there’s some crazy antics that go on in this corporate game of chicken. I would say that the the ultimate obstacle between them wasn’t as fleshed out as it could have been, and I wish they had dealt with Cole’s trust issues a bit more between him and Keirsten, as opposed to all discussion between the friends. Having said that, the premise is fun, the characters clicked and I enjoyed this light read.

Have you ever felt like giving your boss a taste of her or his own medicine? Such is the case with Kira Archer's latest book, 69 Million Things I Hate About You. Kiersten Abbott, a smart and beautiful executive assistant, wins the lottery along with her two best friends. Because she has nothing to lose, she decides to treat her boss to the same indifference and disrespect he has subjected her to for the past six months. Billionaire and CEO Cole Harrington, is Kiersten's boss, and he is onto her game. Their mutual revenge evolves into some very entertaining situations, desire, and eventually love.

This is the first book from the author's brand new series, Winning the Billionaire. It is a fun-loving narrative that kept me glued to my seat from beginning to end. Ms. Archer's originality and creativity truly shines, and I can't wait to read the follow-up.

69 Million Things I Hate About You by Kira Archer was so much fun to read. It was funny and charming without crazy drama. Just a good, light read.

Kiersten Abbot has been the perfect assistant who was always agreeable and professional. She he has always done as Cole Harrington decrees, but things are about to change! After winning 69 million dollars in the lottery, most would be compel to quit their job. But not Kiersten, oh no! She sees this as her opportunity to get payback from her very insufferable boss!

Cole knows something is not right. His assistant, who has always been competent and professional, is not acting herself. When he hears the rumors, he decides two can play at this game. All of a sudden his very strict and always followed no fraternization rule is out the window. He knows he can be very demanding and unreasonable, but she has always run his life just like he likes.

And so the shenanigans begin. I laughed so much, my stomach hurt. Some of Kiersten’s choices for revenge were down right hilarious. And after everything, she was finally firing right back at Cole. Before they know it, sparks begin to fly. I could not wait to see what would happen next!

I really liked both characters and the story so much. 69 Million Things I Hate About You was so much fun to read. It was a quick, charming and funny read, without being over the top.

Numbers and love—pretty sure we’ve been here before! How about Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover? Or Shakespeare’s How do I love thee, let me count the ways? Kira Archer’s 69 Million Things I Hate About You is a worthy successor to this tradition. PA Kiersten Abbott, after she and her roomies each win sixty-nine million dollars in the lottery, has 69 gazillion reasons to walk away from her “impossibly demanding job.” Why doesn’t she? Is it Cole Harrington, her billionaire boss, that keeps her clocking in? Or does she have an ulterior motive—does she want “to stay and exact a little revenge on her insufferable ass of a boss?” Particularly since Kiersten is a literary Andrea *Andy* Sachs—the 2nd assistant to 69 Million Things I Hate About You’s male version of The Devil Wears Prada Miranda Priestly. A day-in-the-life of Kiersten is unimaginable, especially before Marie, the first-assistant to Cole Harrington, quits.

Moving at high speed through the office, laden down with coffee cups, coats, bags, briefcases, file folders, laptops, and any other number of items had become second nature to Kiersten. She handed off two of the three coffee cups to her besties who worked in the same office, Izzy and Cassie, who each mouthed “thank you” and quickly went back to looking busy. Marie wasn’t technically their boss, but she was the first assistant to Cole Harrington, president and founder of Harrington Enterprises, the biggest think tank and development firm in Manhattan, which made her a sort of supervisor over Izzy, Cassie, and the rest of the assistants in the office. Kiersten was second assistant, which made her Marie’s go-to girl. All the work, none of the credit—that went to Marie.

What would make first assistant Marie quit her job? Maybe a request (demand?) from Cole Harrington that she work on the weekend that she’s getting married. Farewell Marie, welcome Kiersten, the new assistant to the billionaire.

Perhaps it’s the eye-candy that keeps Kiersten showing up. The man on the treadmill is a menace to her sensibilities, especially if he’s wearing “a pair of loose sweatpants that fit low on his hips, and nothing else.”

A few beads of sweat ran in rivulets down the hardplaned muscles of his chest and abs. And whatever the hell those amazing V muscles were called pointed in stark relief to what one tabloid had called “the treasure every woman in Manhattan wanted.” Kiersten had scoffed when she’d read that. Seeing everything up close and personal had her rethinking her skepticism.

When one errant drop slipped beneath the band of his sweatpants, Kiersten nearly lost her grip on the coffee. Lucky little sweat drop.

Six months into her job as first assistant, Cole couldn’t be happier with Kiersten’s work. In fact, she’s so quietly efficient, “he was tempted to put a bell on her just so he’d know when she was about.” Kiersten isn’t quite as thrilled with her work life—although she still thinks it’s “a crime for such dreamy eyes to belong to such an ass of a man”—her fantasies are beyond kinky.

Like, dumping his coffee on his head the next time he grunted at her with his empty cup. She wondered how quickly she’d be escorted from the building if she gave in to temptation and upended the thing.

Visualize Cajun hottie Remy from The Big Easy whispering, “Cher, your luck’s about to change.” Flopped down beside her roomies Cassie and Izzy in their apartment, after working ten days straight, Kiersten becomes the woman who absolutely Does Not Have To Work after she and her roommates hit the jackpot and win the lottery. Hallelujah! She’s gonna quit, right? Nope. Egged on by Cass, Kiersten decides to see how much she can get away with before she’s fired.

“So why don’t we put it to the test?” Cass asked with a mischievous smile.

“What do you mean?” Kiersten asked.

Cass shrugged. “I wonder how far he’d let it go before caving and firing you.”

Let the games begin! Kiersten tells her friends to pick a date and starts dreaming of how life is going to change when she shows up for work Monday morning. Kira Archer’s 69 Million Things I Hate About You is as funny as all get out but it’s not a farce. Kiersten and Cole are fully-realized, very likable people—so pick a date-to-be-fired-by and start reading. Here’s hoping Cassie and Izzy get stories too.

Girls has insufferable boss. Girl wins 69 million dollars in the lottery. Girl decides to not quit and see what it takes for her boss to fire her.

This book was so cute and I am so glad that I requested it!!! I think we have all had that boss that we wish we could just pay back a little karma to, no? I literally laughed out loud at some of the things that Kiersten does to Cole throughout the book. This is a romance book, but it isn’t overly racy. You get a nice, slow build and this author is known for her playfulness and happily ever after.

Bottom Line: If you have ever had an insufferable boss, or you just want a laugh. This is for you! So cute! When I was half way through it, I texted Kristen and told her to go request it immediately.

Great book!! If you love RomCom books then definitely pick this book up.

Kiersten is Cole Harrington’s personal assistant and pretty much at his beck and call. Anytime, anywhere she needs to be there for him and does her job to perfection…..until she wins the lottery. She was on the verge of quitting her job when she decided to have a little fun and have revenge on her demanding boss and turn the tables. The antics and tricks that she plays on him and to see a lot of them backfire were too funny. Cole finds out that she is trying to get fired and decides to see just how far she will take things. That is when they come to realize that there is an attraction between them.

This book was well written. Super funny. The back and forth between the two kept you interested and they definitely had great chemistry. I loved the characters, including all of the secondary ones, they really enhanced the story. I would love to see this made into a movie. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
