Fun fun fun read !

When Cole Harrington's perfect personal assistant, Kristen Abbott starts trying to get herself fired, Cole is perplexed. What he doesn't know is that she's just won 69 million in Lotto. The whole office is betting on who will crack first, and Cole is not going to lose. The worse Kristen behaved, the more things heated up between them.
This was such a fun read that I just couldn't put it down. I have never laughed so much while reading a book as I did reading this one. The spin in boss/secretary romance is original and enjoyable.
I would definitely recommend this book to all and I look forward to reading more in the series.

When Kiersten Abbott gets promoted to her boss' main personal assistant after the previous one gets fired for wanting time off to get married, she knows it's going to be difficult. Cole Harrington expects his assistants to be at his beck and call, no matter the time of day or night, and many of his demands cross tthe line between PA and mother. Winning 69 million dollars in the lotto allows Kiersten the freedom to walk away from her entitled boss any time she wants to, but what's the fun in that? Why not see how far she can push him since all he can do is fire her from a job she no longer needs? Unfortunately, Cole finds his mild mannered assistant's sudden rebellion intriguing, and he decides to fight fire with fire and make Kiersten quit. However, the blossoming attraction between the pair hints at something more than acting out behind their game. Can they break through their misconceptions of each other and find a HEA?

Generally I prefer historical romance to contemporary, but the description of 69 Million Things I Hate About You drew me in. I enjoy the hate to love dynamic (or I hate you so much I love you), and Kiersten promised to be a fiery heroine who wasn't going to be a complete door mat. Billionaires aren't a turn on for me, but Kira Archer combined the trope with enough other intriguing elements that I was willing to give it a try.

Both Kiersten and Cole display lives outside their work relationship including close bonds with friends. Cole has had bad experiences with women wanting to date him solely for his pocket book, but the story side steps the evil ex trope and makes Kiersten different because she's willing to stand up to him, not because she's super pure, sweet, and has a magic vagina that can heal the hero's wounded ego/heart/body/etc. Admittedly, she only can show her true personality when she can afford to lose her job, but I found that incredibly relatable (some days I have opinions I have to keep to myself). The wit and intelligence it takes to concoct her increasingly elaborate pranks made me love her, and I'm sure hanging out with a real life Kiersten would be entertaining and fun.

Cole also has enough backstory and depth to fell like a whole human being although one of the critical reveals occurred a little too late in the story for me to fully care. He does show signs of being an alpha male (I think you have to be to reach billionaire status), but he also knows how to care for another human being deeply and allow agency. Cole's billionaire veneer also hides charitable causes that are close to his heart, and he doesn't just donate because that's what rich people do; he genuinely wants to find solutions for the problems he advocates for.

After reading so much erotica the sex scenes between Kiersten and Cole, when they finally occur (they have to work for it; the main focus in their game of pushing buttons) feel a little mild, but 69 Million Things I Hate About You is a quirky revenge to love tale not another book jumping on the popularity of 50 Shades of Grey (although there is a brief reference). I did appreciate that Kiersten and Cole were equals in their sexual encounters, and Archer doesn't throw in any reference to how many partners either has had. Both have dated other people, but it's treated as something normal for a pair of late 20 somethings.

My only major quibble is that the big conflict at the end of the book felt like it came out of no where. There wasn't enough set up for me to fully understand why the situation mattered so much, and while I was relieved when Kiersten and Cole worked past it to realize a full relationship, I didn't appreciate the stakes.

Overall, 69 Million Things I Hate About You isn't going to change your life, but it's a fun, uplifting read that will brighten your day. Watching Cole and Kiersten's back and forth kept me smiling, and it did warm my heart when they finally earned their HEA. Now I need to go buy a lottery ticket...

This book was a cute read, very light and easy. It was your abundantly common mix of a rich man who falls for the poor girl, little does he know that she is also rich. I found it a little bit predictable but I loved all of the banter between the two main characters.

Keirsten is all of us, working hard and barely getting the credit she deserves for all of it. Cole is your typical Alpha male that is rich and runs the world but couldn’t do it without his loyal assistant Keirsten. I want to point out that her going to his house every week to pick out his clothes for the week is just plain weird and makes him look like a man-child, not a grown man. There was some fifty shades of Grey -esque parts that they actually pointed out and identified as such which I found hilarious and awesome. I am sure if they wouldn’t have done that then SOMEONE would have said it was a knock-off. Very clever, since not every billionaire-falls-in-love-with-poor-girl means it's a FSOG copycat.

There was some fluff, I kind of fast forwarded my reading at those parts when Keirsten is talking to herself or her friends and same with Cole. It was just too much. I think the reader would have figured out what they were thinking without all of that. All of the competition between the two made for a really compelling read.

Please note: I received a copy of 69 MILLION THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher and author.

Five stars and here’s why:

Loved it! You can tell right away from the title that this book is going to be a great story and keep you entertained at the same time. Kira Archer doesn’t disappoint!

I read this book in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down. I found myself laughing out loud and there were so many great moments, well, you just have to read the story and discover them yourself. Each character in this book is well developed and I enjoyed every word, line, and page. After Kiersten wins the lottery, she tries to win an office pool to see how long it will take her insufferable boss to fire her. Cole, said boss, figures things out and decides two can play the same game. And what a game it is! Such an entertaining story. The sexy scenes keep you turning the pages and that’s when you realize, there’s a fine line between hate and love. Ms. Archer rocked it. Highly recommend.

Sexy, snappy, romance. Good character development and lots of sexy scenes.

An engaging modern day love story/comedy that I found absolutely delightful. The female main character along with two friends have netted $69 million each after winning the lottery. Before claiming the money, she tries, unsuccessfully, to have her boss fire her. Her tricks only make her more desirable to her boss who had become aware she wants to be fired but not the reason why.

I have rated this book 4.5 stars and recommend it if you enjoy a light-hearted story.

I obtained a ARC from Netgalley for my unbiased review.

Kiersten could quick her job but the thrill of annoying Cole Harrington, her smokin' hot boss, means that I must put down all beverages while reading this story. I may need them to toss at Cole, his demands are over the top, and he expects your undivided attention. Will Kiersten give him the thrashing that he needs ;)?

One irritatingly sexy boss, a wager, and a whole lot of wickedly funny scenes and hilarious one-liners are just a few reasons why Kira Archer is one-click worthy!

When you download this be prepared for a take-out dinner night! You won't be able to put it down. Well played Kira!

This was the first book that I have read by Kira Archer, and it was a blast. The book is refreshing and very funny (laugh out loud), sexy, and witty. It is a different outtake on an office or work setting relationship. Reminds me of the books Bridget Jones Diary by Helen Fielding and Wallbanger by Alice Clayton.

I really don't have anything else to say, other than ... Bravo! Really loved it and looking forward to reading more of her books.

"69 Million Things I Hate About You" (Winning the Billionaire #1) by Kira Archer

My Thoughts...

When I first started reading this novel I was wondering would I like it this particular read. Well, I dd finding it a sweet humorous read that will keep your attention till the very end. I tell you that Kiersten Abbott really puts it on Cole Harrington and in the end how it all comes together being quite a nice fun enjoyable read. Truly winning that lottery ticket with her friends started it all! I did find it somewhat predictable in spots but it was still a good read with some of the funniest scenes...one of them being [Kiersten and Cole's mother] that will have you laughing out loud!

Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC in return for my honest review.

I loved this book! Just what I need to get me through a week of no power after Hurricane Irma.
I laughed, cussed and wanted to reach through my kindle and choke someone (just once) but Kira has outdone herself.

Kiesten has won the lottery with two of her other friends, and while they wait for all the legal things to be set in place, she decides that a little turn about is fair play with her jack hat of a boss, Cole.
Omg, Cole was such a jerk. Poor Kiersten inherits this job after he demands her boss cancel her weekend plans to attend a conference with him and she refuses. Why? Because she's getting married.
He doesn't give a rats butt. Yes, he's that bad. So he fires her and Kiersten, who basically does all the work anyway, slides right into the job. Unfortunately this puts her on call 24 hours a day and when Cole works, she works. He's a mess.

The story twists after the girls win the lottery and suddenly Kiersten couldn't care less about her job, the office has a pool going to see who will cave first. Will he fire her, or will she quit. Kiersten can really dish it out and I loved it. Adding to this, these two also develop feelings for each other, which creates yet another spin and all this adds up to one of the best books I've read in a while. I loved it.

Yes you should read this book. Yes you may wet your pants from laughing, stay close to the bathroom.
Just read it!!

I received this an ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I requested it hoping it would be a light and enjoyable read and that's exactly what I got. My only criticism would be that some of the side characters like Cole's mum could have been fleshed out some more.

This is the first time I've read this author and it won't be my last. I was curious how it was going to play out so I decided to give it a shot and I was approved.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I'm so glad. This book was such an enjoyment. I laughed so hard. Cole was impossible from the beginning and Kiersten had no choice but to tolerate it until she won the lottery, then game on!!! I highly recommend this book.

This story is really cute and funny. I couldn't stop laughing at the lengths Kiersten and Cole go to trying to best each other.

Some of the things Kiersten comes up with are genius!! She truly is an evil mastermind but thankfully she does have a limit.

You need to read this if you want a book that is a great laugh but still has some feeling. I got so attached to these characters, my eyes leaked a little from time to time.

With the supporting characters in on the plans, anything can happen.

Read it and tell me what Kiersten that had you howling with laughter.

Sadly, I had to stop reading this book at 33%. It was quite fun up to about 30%, but then I just started to roll my eyes at the silliness and stupidity. The pranks and the shit they pulled just got too much for me, and I just couldn't see this book continue for another 67% (or less, some books stop at 90%).

I loved both the characters, Kiersten and Cole, well, at least for most of the 33%, and I was shipping them like mad. Really, they are just too perfect together and I kept hoping they would at least be kissing, but by 33% nothing really happened, yes, lots of tension, some very close things (that dancing!), and of course that one time that Kiersten decided to puke all over her boss. :P

I was a bit amazed at the naivety of Kiersten, that she would think her boss wouldn't check to see if there was anything funky going on. Same go for her friends. Did they really think they could just make a betting pool under their boss his nose? Haha.

So yeah, it had a lot of potential. It could have been so much more, but sadly, the jokes/pranks just turned sour, and I couldn't imagine the story moving on.

This book has both cursing (including f-bombs) and on-screen sex, so if those things are going to cause you to leave a bad review, you should skip this one. But be aware that you're going to be missing a great book.

If you're looking for the cookie-cutter, run-of-the-mill “billionaire sweeps in and rescues the poor destitute woman from a life of middle class living (oh the humanity!) by throwing outrageous gifts at her and buying her love” shtick that is so bafflingly popular in the romance genre these days, THIS IS NOT that book and I could absolutely kiss Ms. Archer for that. Even though Cole might not know it, he and Kiersten are on equal footing for the better part this book and I absolutely LOVED that. You get a gold star (or five), Ms. Archer.

This book was absolutely hilarious from start to finish. Although some of the things that Kiersten did were over the top and could have easily veered into eye-roll worthy territory (the speakeasy and its hysterical aftermath for instance), it never did. Instead, it was all so ridiculously funny that I found myself becoming a Kindle-highlighting fool as I laughed out loud in a room full of people who probably thought that I'd lost my ever-loving mind. I didn't even care because it was so absurdly funny that I couldn't help myself. Before I'd even finished the book I had run to pre-order this book, that's how much I loved Cole and Kiersten together. I have to admit that I wasn't sure I was going to like Cole at first, but watching Cole become a 'real boy' instead of just a workaholic who was kind of self-absorbed as Kiersten pushed him further and further out of his comfort zone was so much fun. Kiersten was great from start to finish, but I especially loved the way that she worked to right a particular wrong toward the end. Even though she wanted to mess with Cole, she never intended to actually hurt him and I respected her so much for that.

Another thing Ms. Archer did beautifully was to incorporate the side characters without them taking away from the main characters. Kiersten and Cole's friends (and Cole's mom) all added so much to this story but never overwhelmed it or made me wonder why they were on-screen. I really, really hope that Brooks is a match for either Cassie or Izzy because I adored him and I want to read more about him!

If you like a book that will make you laugh while keeping the sexual tension level cranked to high before it finally combusts, you have got to read this book. I have read (and re-read) many of Ms. Archer's previous books and enjoyed them, but this is now my absolute favorite by her without question. I already cannot wait for the next books in this series.

I requested and was generously granted an ARC of this book via NetGalley and the publisher. I was under no obligation to write this review or to pre-order the book – I did those things because I absolutely loved this book.

“69 Million Things I hate about You” doesn’t exactly cast romantic comedy in a new light, but its inventive, unique premise drew me to this immediately. After all, who wouldn’t want that sweet revenge on a demanding, serial-model-dater of a boss that piles you with nothing but stress and no time off?

I liked the tit-for-tat vibe, the oneupmanship that Kiersten and Cole got going the moment it was obvious that she was going to get back at him for the hard time he gave her for the past few months. But some of the games did veer towards the ridiculous/childish even as Cole put a different spin on Kiersten’s efforts to thwart him when he beat her at her own game.

Clearly, it’s all formulaic rom-com from here onwards as the stakes get higher and higher until it becomes clear that this holding pattern would break somehow, so shut down the nagging idea that having money allows you to do whatever the hell you want as both Cole and Kiersten cross over into the outlandish and give each other a hard to harder time. It’s a read that’s after all, fun though not entirely believable (I had a bit of difficulty making that leap from Cole’s and Kiersten’s pranks to their falling in love) yet adventurous in a way that makes it stick out in a long line of books.

This book is hilarious, fun, and sweet. I loved the back and forth between the two main characters, and especially that they didn't fall into bed within the first 5 chapters.

Hot and sassy story about the fiery relationship between a billionaire and his overworked assistant. After Kiersten wins the lotto with her two roommates, she decides to enact revenge on her supervisor Cole so that he will fire her. He finds out about the pool that ensues and decides not to fire her no matter what she does. I enjoyed the pranks that Kiersten came up with to try to get fired and their budding relationship. There were a lot of really funny moments although I found one of her last pranks a little farfetched. Really enjoyable read. Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC in return for my honest review.
