Meh. Not a bad story. I was hoping for a bit more historical fiction, though I suppose this counts as one in a very broad way. The characters were interesting and varied with lots of perspectives. I enjoyed the setting...and the plot to degree. It would make a good lite read on a chilly autumn day, I think. Pull up a cozy chair to the window to enjoy the fall view and last sunny day, pour a cup of tea or coffee, and enjoy the story.

I'm not so much into historical fiction , but No Safe Anchorage was a pleasant read. A wonderful combination of mystery and adventure, all set in a meticulously researched historical context. Thank you for the opportunity to read this wonderful book!

I resisted the story, at first—the disparate points of view in the beginning threw me off. Then, finally, came Tom and the story took off. Well written and well researched. I find that I liked the type of narrative, though it was a little more like “telling” than I prefer, but for some reason it works for the scope of the novel. It was hard to put down once I got used to the style.
