This is my first read by this author and I have to say that I am hooked!! Lynette Eason has a way with suspense and romance that will keep you longing for more in her stories.

I really liked all the characters, except the bad guys of course. With this being a police type book, you know there is always going to be some bad guys. Izzy, the main character, was one of my favorites and she just kept growing and growing on me. Izzy lets her partner talk her into going on a stake out one night to see if his informant is correct about some information he gave him. When Izzy's partner gets out of the car and heads for the building they have been watching, she knows that things are not going to go well, but can do nothing to stop him. When Izzy does catch up to him, she ends up finding her partner in the floor of a warehouse and bleeding from gunshots.

Izzy is determined to find out who did this to her partner. When things start looking strange about who was at the warehouse and what went down, Izzy knows that she has her work cut out for her. When her partner's brother vows to help find the person responsible for his brother's death, Izzy and her longtime friend are thrown back together. Ryan can't really work on the investigation because of his relationship, but he can in a round about way find out what he needs to.

I don't want to give any of this book away because reading it as it happened was the best part for me. I got so into this book that I could not put it down. I took it with me and read wherever I was going. The twists and turns that Lynette Eason threw into this one kept me guessing until the very end as to who could be behind all of the evil going on in the story. Such a great suspense filled story for sure. The romance between Ryan and Izzy was just the icing on the cake!

I am excited about this new series and that I got in on it with the first book. I think the Blue Justice series is going to be a hit if they are all like this one. I am ready for more suspense and thrills from Lynette Eason!

An amazing gripping novel. Seeing God at work thru family and learning trust is amazing. The characters have great depth and perception..

I really liked this book even though the story flow dragged a bit in the middle.

I can appreciate how difficult it would be for a sibling to discover something about another sibling and be torn apart between love and duty. But here's the thing that seemed a bit implausible to me--and I might be wrong about this--but if your brother is a Christian, and you've known him your whole life and you trust him implicitly, why struggle with what he asks you to do?

Believability isn't a word, but it should be when it comes to novels. Setting aside belief in the implausible, this book and the writing is very good. There are a LOT of characters that I'm sure will be developed in later books of the series, and these characters will be very interesting.

The romance is a bit on the light side, and the character development of the two main characters suffers because of the huge amount of other characters. I think Lynette should take a tip from Law & Order -- go light on trying to develop characters that don't move the story along quickly. Otherwise, it's a good story.

I always know when I read a Lynette Eason book, it will be fabulous! The first book in her new series is no disappointment. The characters are well developed and the main characters' emotional journey is sad but beautiful. I am already looking forward to reading the other siblings' stories!

What a great book! It had so many angles going on that it held your interest from page 1 till the end. It reminded be some of Dee Henderson's series of the O'Malley family. Izzy loses her partner and best friend on the police force. She works with Ryan, her partner's brother to find the killer. Plenty of action and suspense. Should be a best seller.

I was given a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was asked to leave an honest review, the following is my own honest opinion.
I have read many of this authors books and have thoroughly enjoyed each one. On that note, I have to say this one had a few too many people and I found myself confused at times. Although that didn't lessen the enjoyment I found in this romantic suspense. I was very drawn to the two main characters Izzy and Ryan. The emotional upheaval that was happening in their lives was so heart breaking and yet they were able to keep their head in the game, for every heart-pounding, heart-stopping situation they found themselves in. The love and closeness of both of their families for each other was very evident in the story. Even as the attraction grew between Izzy and Ryan they were able to keep it in check until the mission was over.
If you enjoy heart-pounding suspense, mystery, kidnapping, murder, deception, secrets and a touch of romance, I have no doubt you will love this story. I highly recommend.

Great characterization, tight writing, fast pace, good romance. Can't wait to read future books in this series. Perfect for those who love romantic suspense focused on law enforcement.

In Oath of Honor, Izzy St. John is a cop who loses her partner who also happens to be a lifelong friend. Right away, she's thrown into one high-stress situation after another in her quest to find the killer. By her side is Ryan, her partner's brother, who is just as determined as she is to solve the case. This book is almost nonstop action, which really drew me in. Some of the bad guys are easy to figure out, and I guessed some of it before Izzy and Ryan did. There are a couple of surprises thrown in, though, which I appreciated. When I'm reading a crime drama, I don't want it to be too predictable!

This book felt a little light on the romance and the faith aspect, so that's the only thing keeping me from giving this five stars. Fans of Blue Bloods will really enjoy this series. I'm excited to learn more about Izzy's and Ryan's families in the rest of the Blue Justice series!

I felt like I watched an episode of Blue Bloods, this series is about the St. John family, the majority of the family members are in law enforcement. This is Izzy St. John's story. It has so many twists and turns and edge of your seat suspense, you're never sure who the bad guy is. Definitely a surprise ending. Looking forward to the other books in the series.

Story Notes

Lynette Eason brings a fast-paced new series to her readers with a non-stop first story that will have you holding your breath and flying through the pages to see what will happen next.

Lynette Eason just can’t help but write a complex and pulse pounding story. She has the rare ability to write with complexity that doesn’t overwhelm but refuses to let the reader go until they finish the story. Such is the case with the first book in her new series about a family of law enforcers and medical workers. Izzy St. John and her long time friend/new partner Kevin Marshall are on a stakeout of an abandoned warehouse gathering information and photos of a group of local gun runners the city would love to see removed from the streets. Kevin is determined to get the best evidence possible for those who will take these criminals down and goes in for a closer look, without taking Izzy for backup. But things quickly turn deadly when Kevin is seen and shot by those inside. Izzy rushes in, dodging bullets and covers her fallen partner. But she’s too late to do more than take the phone he’s pressing into her hand and pray as he almost dies in her arms, gasping out a garbled name. Kevin’s brother, Ryan hears the call of”officer needs assistance” and “officer down” over the scanner and rushes to the warehouse, praying its not someone he loves. His heart drops when he sees his brother on the ground and Izzy St. John covered in blood. As they let the paramedics load Kevin in the ambulance, Ryan turns to Izzy and demands to know what happened. Grief stricken and angry, Izzy lashes out at Ryan, telling him Kevin made the choice to go in without her or any other backup. Both unable to think clearly without knowing what will happen to Kevin, they head to hospital to wait. But the truth comes fast and hard – Kevin didn’t make it. With much more riding on this case and a new determination to find out who is responsible, Izzy and Ryan will team up to bring down whoever is behind the warehouse killing and the guns that are flooding the streets. Add to all this the fact that there is a Mayoral race that is heating up with promises from both sides to clean up the city and it will be a real race against time and a determined killer for Izzy and Ryan to discover who is the real target and who has just been in the way. Ms. Eason did a wonderful job of making this story both real and very smart. Her way of weaving in the “cop-talk” seamlessly with the rest of the conversations is a gift she has developed well throughout her many books. I, myself, so look forward to reading her books because I also come away challenged, both in faith and in my determination to help others. The situations that Ms. Eason’s characters are often involved in are not my everyday situations but I find myself relating to them nonetheless as they are a magnification of happenings from my life. Granted, I’ve not lost someone close to me to crime violence, but the pain of loss is not lessened by the circumstances. And the struggle of faith when all the world seems to be weighing on you is one that all Christians will face in their journey with Christ. I found myself praying these characters would make it out of a fire-fight, gasping for breath as they ran after a suspect and crying as they felt the deep loss of their friends and family. To say this book felt like a marathon to me is an absolute truth. When you finish the last page and feel completely exhausted you know it was a good story. And then you can’t wait to have time to re-read it so you can pick up on all the little things you might have missed – man, is it hard to set down this kind of book! I will most certainly HIGHLY recommend this book to others. I hope they will get as much enjoyment out of it as I do and find themselves challenged as well as entertained. I can hardly wait for the next story in this series as I know it will be a great continuance of this literal fire-ball of a story. Thank you Ms. Eason for writing such excellent and well-developed stories!!

I received this E-book free of charge from Revell Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. I will receive no fiscal compensation from either company for this review.

Oath of Honor by Lynette Eason is book one in the Blue Justice series. This first book tells the story of Izzy St. John. She comes from a family full of law enforcement professionals. Soon into the book, Izzy loses her partner and she then teams up with her partner's brother to find the killer. But the plot is more involved than they thought. Lynette Eason has such skill at weaving fascinating plots that will keep you turning pages late into the night. I highly recommend this book and can't wait to read more in this new series. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher. These opinions are entirely my own.

When Officer Izzy St. John's partner is killed, her pursuit of justice takes her on an emotionally-charged path with her partner's brother, Detective Kevin Marshall. This book has strong character development and great suspense. It was an enjoyable read with the believable characters, action, and exciting plot twists.

Wowsers! Don’t pick up this first book in Lynette Eason’s new series unless you’re planning on spending the next couple of hours with your nose stuck in its pages. I really didn’t want to put this one down. It’s not just the plot, but the energy in these characters—and there are quite a few of them when you consider the size of Izzy’s family. It all combined to make a fast-paced, high energy read that I was addicted to from the first page.

Izzy and Ryan are strong characters, both level headed but buffeted by the emotional investment they have in this case. Not only is it Ryan’s brother and Izzy’s partner who was killed, but the further they investigate the incident, the more personal connections they seem to find. Who’s true and who’s false? I was fairly certain about some of the characters, but there were some surprises along the way, too. And as it becomes obvious that Izzy's being targeted, the emotional stakes rise even higher!

If you love edge-of-your-seat suspense with a light serving of romance, this is definitely your ticket! I can’t wait for the rest of the series.

Isabelle St. John’s is a police officer with a large, tight-knit law enforcement family. Izzy finds herself in one of the toughest battles of her life - her partner and best friend, Kevin Marshall, is murdered, and she herself barely escapes with her own life. Izzy is bound and determined to push past her grief and shock and find out exactly what happened that fateful night and see to it that justice is served. As she slowly uncovers the truth with the help of Kevin’s brother (the guy she has secretly crushed on since high school), Detective Ryan Marshall, she finds more questions than answers - evidence of organized crime and dirty cops - and plunges herself and Ryan even further into danger.
If you love binge-watching Blue Bloods on Netflix (but cringe at the profanity), you’ll love Oath of Honor! Packed tight with suspense, romance, mystery, and fast-paced action with a strong thread of solid faith in God woven throughout. I couldn’t wait to get home from work to pick up where I left off with this book each day!
Looking forward to Book 2 of this series, Blue Justice, and grateful to have found another favorite author!

Oath of Honor by Lynette Eason instantly hooked me as we met police officer Isabelle St. John, who loves her crazy, loud, law-enforcement family. Unfortunately, her partner gets murdered, and she barely escapes with her own life. On top of all that, Izzy's investigation leads her into a criminal organization, possibly with cops on the payroll--including someone from her own family.

Lynette Eason is an author I've heard about for a while now, but one I never took the time to try, which I'm currently regretting. With Oath of Honor being the first book in this series, it seemed like a logical time to try one of her books.

I particularly found the family dynamics interesting in this story. Izzy's mother is the chief of police at her department. Of course, this made for some interesting conversations between Izzy and her mother, especially when Izzy's investigation shows members of her family as possible suspects.

This book was full of suspense, held my attention, and kept me reading more. As is typical with many of these types of books, there is some romance involved. In Izzy's case, it is her dead partner's brother who is a handsome homicide detective named Ryan.

This book did an excellent job of filling my craving for a suspenseful story and was a nice introduction to Eason's writing. Now I'm looking forward to the release of Called to Protect.

Warning! This book is filled with nail biting suspense. What a thriller! I'm worn out. Every page is filled with action. This book is for any suspense/thriller fan who likes romance thrown in too. My only problem? I have to wait until the summer for the next installment. This book was a great start to a new series.

Police Officer Isabella St John comes from a large family of law enforcement, so she is never without supportive backup. Her best friend is her partner, Kevin Marshall. Crime is on the rise in their city, with gangs growing in confidence, when their informant tips Kevin off that something is going on in a warehouse, he and Izzy go to check it out. Kevin is shot and right before he dies he tells her to take his phone.

Homicide Detective Ryan Marshall wants to get to the bottom of his brother's murder, and will do anything to bring the gang to justice. He thinks that Izzy knows more than she is telling him, can he trust the woman that he has always admired?

A heart stopping read from beginning to end, intrigue and suspense, filled with conspiracy, this is a book you won't want to put down. Political threats, put her mother, who is the police chief, in a tough spot, trying to protect the mayor. Surprises at every turn, Izzy questions who she can trust when she sees her twin brother in a place he shouldn't be in. Plus the man who attacked her and held her at knifepoint, is now out of prison and bent on retaliation.

Izzy is mentally strong, and has a determined spirit. Despite her mother being the chief of police, Izzy has more than earned her place with the force, she doesn't back down and is willing to face challenges dead on, and keeps her head in a heated situation. She is careful, and likes to keep her personal life private. I like how close knit her family is despite them all having high pressure, demanding jobs they always make time for each other.

Ryan is still grieving the death of his brother Chris, when he shows up on the scene of Kevin's shooting. He struggles to stay focused and not get too involved in the case. He's always admired Izzy, but wondered if her and Kevin's good natured teasing was more than that. I love how protective he is of Izzy, he sees that she needs help and keeps his head and despite how much he wants to bring down his brother's killers.

Fast paced, with so many twists and turns along the way, there are so many shocking reveals that kept my head spinning. I loved Izzy's family and look forward to knowing them better in future books. Highly recommend this action packed suspenseful read!

Another riveting read by the Queen of Criminal fiction. I was eager to start this new series and I am so glad I did! I loved the main character Isabella and look forward to getting to explore the rest of her siblings stories in the future! What a great start to what looks like it will be a great series!
Steeped with mystery, intrigue and romance this book has it all and leaves you on the edge of your seat until the very end. I loved how there was a lot going on and you really weren't sure where the story was going to take you.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion

What I most admire about Eason's style is the exemplary quality of her female characters. Isabelle St. John is both fierce and feminine. Each woman in this story has an authentic balance of strength and grace. The St. John family is a large yet intimate crew of public servants. A drive to protect, defend, and heal is evident in each family member's profession and compassion.

Eason's portrayal of law enforcement is a fitting tribute to those who serve without sugar-coating the realities of an occasional bad apple. I enjoyed both the action and subtle romance in this story and I'm very excited to see what happens next in this series. I highly recommend this book!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.
