If you enjoy an alpha main couple deeply embedded in a spy turns rescue mission backdrop, you may want to check into book 1 of this series by Amy Jarecki. There were tons of details at first and basically you felt like you were walking along side this dynamic duo as they were sequestered in a remote training location then assigned out into the field to chase after the bad guys. Well, that is after an explosive first meeting when separate missions didn’t go as planned.

As an avid romantic at heart, I struggled to accept the concept of how far this heroine previously went in the past to defeat the enemy. She’s even admitted she’s sacrificed too much of her soul and body in the pursuit of fighting evil doers. Let’s just say she gives true meaning to the expression sleeping with the enemy. Even though she did it with an intended, long range purpose, it still didn’t sit well with me. Many might argue that same unswayable determination is what shaped her into the fighting warrior she became and helped her summon the courage to carry through a life-threatening, but life-saving mission which saved many lives.

Throw in the fact the type of kidnapping ring they were trying to bust just isn’t somewhere I want to mentally go, I was often close to choosing not to finish this one, folks. However, I found myself having to know how it all worked out. I was rewarded with an uncompromising strong heroine, who literally walks right into the lion’s den, and does whatever it takes to get the job done, along with a refusing to give up on her hero, who always has her back.

Yes, there were some bumps in the road. The past brief flashback of a bedroom scene with a villainous other man for one. The hero spewing an uncalled for hurtful, make that hateful, accusation wasn’t necessary. After the dramatic showdown, it didn’t seem likely debriefing wasn’t a top priority. I also found myself skimming over the last 20% or so. The conclusion kind of seemed to ramble on a bit. So though most of the time the writing was engaging, there were portions it wasn’t.

Book 2, Body Shot, looks like it will be even better, folks. Since I received an ARC of it as well, I’ll be reading it next in the very near future.

Title: Hunt for Evil, Series: ICE (Book 1), Author: Amy Jarecki, Pages: 304, stand-alone but part of a series, went too far for the cause heroine, disturbing kidnapping ring, a few very steamy scenes, one reference to another character being brutally raped, no cheating, no love triangle, no OW/OM drama, some violence.

I wasn't sure what to expect, when I learned that Jarecki was stepping into the thriller and suspense genre. I knew her work as a historical romance author, but I wondered if a transition into writing something as different as this book would be successful. Well, let me tell you, I think that she is a SMASHING success! This book WOWED me!

Logan and Olivia's story was full of danger, action, mystery, intrigue and quite a bit of all around badassery! And, the simmering chemistry between the two of them nearly set the pages on fire. I absolutely could not put this book down. I was simply riveted by the plot line and all of the twists and turns it made as it barreled full speed ahead.

Jarecki has proven her expertise and versatility as an author, and I am excited about where she will take the ICE series.

*I received a complimentary copy of this story through NetGalley in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.

All I can say about this book is wow. I loved the action and the intrigue in this story but more importantly I loved Logan and Olivia and the chemistry they shared. I liked the fact that the characters exhibited flaws but were still likeable and realistic. Definitely an alpha hero and a complicated lady.

Unfortunately the book was not for me, no review was publicly posted on Amazon, B&N, Goodreads or Twitter etc, so no ratings were affected in relation to it.

Sadly I found the extreme Anglicization of the h, a little too over the top being a Brit myself a lot of her thoughts and responses just didn't sound right, I also need to be grabbed from the beginning with a book in the Romantic Suspense genre, and this book just took far too long to get going, with far too much internal monologue an not enough plot development.

I am sorry to not be able to offer a more positive review on this occasion.

Hunt For Evil begins with Navy SEAL Commander Logan Rodgers having to get MI6 spy Olivia Hamilton off a yacht owned by an ISIS terrorist before it gets blown sky high. This gets him off to a pretty poor start with Olivia, since she was right on the verge of a major breakthrough in her undercover operation. When they are both sent to work for ICE, the International Clandestine Enterprise, sparks fly between the two competent operatives.

This is an excellent, page-turning story with lots of action and suspense. Olivia has a pretty serious case of PTSD from spending too long undercover, and she really shouldn't be in the field. She's covering it up because she's desperate to take down the terrorist who caused her parents' deaths.

While I enjoyed this one, there were a couple of things that soured it for me. There were a couple of fairly gigantic plot holes - it does NOT take four days to scramble helicopters to Syria, for example - that the author had clearly shoved in hoping the audience would overlook, because she needed it for the timeframe of the story. That sort of thing makes me wince.

Logan had a couple of moments of being a complete ass, and the big one for me was near the end of the book. Without being too spoilery, after they finished their mission, Logan totally disregards Olivia's wishes and does what HE thinks is best for her. This is a major nope-out moment for me, and to be honest if I hadn't been so close to the end of the book I'd probably have put it aside and not finished it. That moment took the book from a five-star read down to a three.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for review through NetGalley.

Logan and Olivia meet when he screws up her undercover investigation and potential capture of the world's most wanted terrorist. Months later, they are brought together again in an op that will try to again catch the man.

Lots of thrills in this story. Olivia is a very determined character who sacrifices much in order to try to capture this terrorist. She isn't necessarily a character I like, and the chemistry between Logan and her isn't necessarily the best I've seen on the written page. Still, this is an enjoyable story and I will read the next one to see where this series takes me.

I thoroughly enjoyed this spy thriller.
Olivia Hamilton is an MI6 operative who has spent the past two years infiltrating an Islamic terrorist group. On the cusp of assassinating the head of the group, her mission is compromised by the US and she's saved b Navy SEAL Logan Rodgers.
Months later they've both been recruited by ICE to fight the war on terror.
I enjoyed the spy thriller portions of the story, I thought they were incredibly well written and page turning stuff. However the romance didn't work as well for me. Although I thought both main characters were interesting, Olivia was a little too closed off and broken, and Logan was a little too perfect to be a convincing romantic pairing. For him it was like pulling teeth, and for her she spent her time fighting flashbacks and refusing to accept there was a problem.
I prefer my romances to be more equal. I'm happy for characters to have a bit of damage (it makes them more interesting) but I want them to remain equals and here I didn't really feel that they were.
I would still recommend this book, I just hope the next will be a stronger romance.

Amy Jarecki has scored a slam dunk with the first book in her brand new ICE series and shows readers the quality and depth of storytelling we can expect in her future endeavours. International intrigue, covert operations, danger and sizzling attraction are all combined to ensure that Hunt for Evil was a gripping and addictive read.

Ms Jarecki’s world building is spot on, and her characters are nothing short of explosive! Logan and Olivia have set the bar high for future books, but I’m sure that the other members of the ICE team will keep readers intrigued and set the pages on fire just as impressively.

This was my first read by this author, but Ms Jarecki definitely has a new fan!

Another hit. Logan and Olivia meet on a mission and all does not go as planned. Later they run in to each other again and work is not the only thing that they have to worry about.. The storyline was intense and very captivating, it was hard to not enjoy their chemistry. I look forward to reading more from Amy Jarecki. Thank you NetGalley and Amy Jarecki for allowing me to read this book for a honest review.

THIS IS AMY'S BEST STORY TO DATE!!! There aren't enough stars for this one. This is super spies, terrorists, action and hot romance. It is a happy for now with more coming in the near future and I can't wait!

Logan and Olivia meet on a op that goes sideways. Logan is a SEAL and Olivia works for MI6. As usual the two governments aren't keeping each other in the communications loop and Logan is ordered to sink the ship Olivia is deep undercover on. He has to get her off the ship since he can't shut off the bombs he set because of defective ordinance. Awesome set up as she wants to kill him at the time for screwing up her chance to take down the leader of ISIS Fahd al-Umari the next day! The terrorist is the one who killed her parents and she's almost got him!

The book is the story of a super secret NATO black-ops organization, ICE, that these two fine agents get force recruited into by their respective agencies. The series will be a trilogy of their hunt for Fahd al-Umari and the havoc he and his cohorts spew all over the world. This particular book deals with arms deals and kidnapping-human trafficking. Amy puts real faces to this evil and gives us a believable adventure. I adore these two super agents finding trust and love in each other, the spy and the military commander. Can't wait to get my hands on the next story. Thank you Amy for the opportunity to be your Beta reader and part of your ARC reader group.

First of all I really dislike the cover. But the story is really good, the action starts at the very beginning and it is gripping.
The heroine is a strong character but has issues that show her vulnerability.
I really enjoyed it.

Gritty romantic adventure is how I'd describe this story instead of glamorizing the life of a spy this story gives what I think would be a realistic portrayal of what it must be like. Olivia is a woman who is getting by on pure nerves and will power until she meets her new partner, her past influences her actions and motivates her to keep going. It was interesting to see her metamorphosis from a hardcore lone operator to one half of a partnership.

When missions collide Navy SEAL Commander Logan Rodgers saves MI6 asset, Olivia Hamilton only for their intended assignments to fail miserably. When the dust settles Logan and Olivia find themselves the recipients of an invitation to join a highly secretive organization called the International Clandestine Enterprise (ICE) that is not optional. Deep cover and danger draw Logan and Olivia into a web of intrigue and deception as they fight for the well being of the world, their lives and possession of each other’s hearts.

Widely lauded historical romance writer Amy Jarecki's has taken the plunge into romantic suspense and may have released one the most exciting books of the year. Known for her extensive research and action filled fast paced plots Ms. Jarecki continues this trend but adapts to her new genre like a seasoned pro in book one of her ICE series, Hunt For Evil. This was an extremely well thought out story with no lulls. The characters were interesting, the details phenomenal and every word took on meaning. Logan was the kind of hero that pretty much anyone looking for the perfect book boyfriend might consider as a candidate. Olivia offered complicated in massive doses and Ms. Jarecki did a fine job of showing all this character's "warts" while managing to make her likeable. Theirs was not an easy romance but the deeper this couple delved into the shadowy world of reconnaissance the more their connection sizzled and popped. Hunt for Evil is a must read for anyone who loves adventure and romance!

Full review to bre included in thee end of August reviews.

HUNT FOR EVIL is the first book in Amy Jarecki’s new “ICE” (international Clandestine Enterprise) series. This is also the author’s first foray into RS, as she is better known for her Historical romance. Logan is a SEAL and particpating in an op that goes wrong. Olivia is an agent for the MI6. Logan is ordered to sink the ship Olivia is deep undercover on. He has to get her off the ship since he can't shut off the bombs he set because of defective ordinance. Olivia on the other hand, wants to kill him at the time for screwing up her chance to take down the leader of an ISIS terrorist cell.

HUNT FOR EVIL brings these two agents into close contact when they are forced to work together for the common good. They have to work together to defeat arms dealers, and criminals involved with human trafficking.

Nice first effort at RS by the author.
