4 Stars! Christmas story? CHECK! Romance? CHECK! New York to London? CHECK! Umm...Notting Hill? CHECK!

Loved this story! This story follows Isla and Chase. Chase is new London transplant from NY who is fascinated by Isla and eager to learn everything he can about Notting Hill! They work for the same company and enjoy spending time with each other but does this time come with a price??

Ugh! *chef's kiss* So good! It was steamy and funny and so sweet. Everyone knows how I feel about Christmas stories right? Read this! Anytime of year! It's a great read!

So far I have enjoyed every book I have read by Mandy Baggot, so I have been looking forward to another of her Christmas stories.

I started easily into the book and its story. I really liked the described atmosphere of Notting Hill and the area where Isla is living with her younger sister Hannah. It was charming, wintery and festive.

I also liked like Isla and Hannah. They were nice girls which were very engaged in their community of Notting Hill. Chase and his daughters were equally likeable, especially Maddie was really cute.

The first half had a few lenghty bits though but the second half was very enjoyable, when the romance kicked in and Isla and Chase connected more and more. There were some very very romantic scenes which I enjoyed a lot.

The writing style was catchy and very enjoyable to read and I shouldn't wait too long to read another book by the author.

This was a very easy book to get along with, the main characters were lovely, and you see what was going to happen.
Just what you need at the festive season.
Thanks to Netgalley and Mandy Baggott for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Review: Having adored Single for the Summer I knew I had to read this. Set in London at Christmas although there is a lot more snow than normal which is great for the story. A perfect romantic setting for Mandy's brilliant characters. Mandy has a great talent for writing and I love her books.

Mandy Baggot is a new author for me. I really enjoyed this festive romance.

I liked all of the characters and enjoyed seeing their stories developing throughout the book. The location was well chosen - and made me want to go to Notting Hill to mooch around the roads and shops. This is a story about friendship, community, and love alongside the festive romance. There were some laugh out loud moments which I loved.

A perfect light hearted festive romance perfect for curling up on the settee.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I've read Mandy Baggot before and enjoyed her books but this one wasn't her best I'm afraid. I did end up skim reading some of the book but I did enjoy reading about Notting Hill and I'm glad they didn't build the hotel complex on that site. It was obvious Chase and Isla would end up together but they both deserved it. It won't put me off looking out for Mandy's next book. Thank you for letting me read and review this book.

I found this book a little slow and I really struggled to connect to the characters and the storyline in the first half the book. A part of me wanted to quit reading but as I was halfway through I felt I couldn't give up. I found some of the characters reminded me of fifty shades of grey, a gorgeous CEO of the company and the young woman he's going to fall for. He constantly calls her 'miss winters', again like fifty shades using her surname. I have to say that the second half of this book was much better and you connect more with the character and where the story is going. I wish the first half was condensed more, removing a lot of the less important parts to the story and concentrated on the main plot that sadly I felt was a little rushed. Overall a good book that I think some people will enjoy.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book and it was an easy read. I just felt that it lacked a little something although I am not sure what if that makes sense. Perhaps I have read too many books recently where the main character doesn’t really need to do much to snare her man or maybe I am just getting more cynical as I get older.

Isla lives in Notting Hill with her sister Hannah, who was paralysed in the accident which killed both their parents several years ago. She has worked her way up in the company in which she works and is less than impressed when she is tasked with me being the visiting CEO’s ‘go to girl’ whilst continuing to juggle her own projects.

Chase is the newly appointed CEO of the company, visiting from America who wants to share his vision to build a super-hotel and entertainment village with the London office. No prizes for guessing his chosen location! Isla shows him and his two daughters the sights and attractions of ‘her’ London together with the more traditional tourist spots.

And so the story progresses and inevitably they become attracted to one another with Chase harbouring the secret of the preferred location of his project.

Christmas themed books are big business. It’s hard to ignore them and I don’t even try anymore. Instead nowadays, I just go with the flow and immerse myself in their cliche storylines and read at least two or three each year.

One Christmas Kiss in Notting Hill is my last for the [now finished] season but if you’re still struggling to move on from the Yuletide, or looking to pick up a Christmas novel for next season, this would be a good choice.

Although I hate those tag lines included in the titles of books which seem to be the current trend, I will say yes, I suppose 'feel-good' and 'heartwarming' is true. It's more of a sweet romance than sexy with a chick-lit feel to it and, at times, the book is quite funny.

Our heroine, Isla, meets our hero, Chase, in a cafe where she assumes he’s some sort of paedophile. He’s not obviously. He is, however, her new boss who’s just arrived in London from the US.

Isla and Chase will soon work closely together on a project; recently divorced Chase has two daughters with him, one a surly teenager, and Isla will help him connect with them; Isla has a sister (an interesting character but unfortunately underutilised) she needs to consider before she can jump into a relationship with Chase; Isla and Chase suffer from the inevitable cultural differences; Chase has a work secret he can’t reveal to Isla; yadda, yadda, yadda.

Unlike a lot of Christmas novels, it's quite a long book. Actually, I would have cut it quite significantly. Many scenes were superfluous. A lot of the conflicts seem to be forced. Isla and Chase's meeting, for example, was probably one of the silliest meet-cutes I've ever read. Chase's background also seems to have a lot of unnecessary details that became cringe-worthy, I thought.

Don’t read the book if you’re on a diet either. There’s lots of food porn. Chapters and chapters dedicated to what was being eaten and drank at the various parties Isla and Chase attend. (I must point out Isla and co must be crap at their jobs. They seem to do zero work other than planning and attending Christmas parties.)

The thing that saves the book and makes me recommend it is Notting Hill. Yes, for once the title is not misleading and Notting Hill gets much more than a cursory mention in the novel. The descriptions of the houses, parks and other attractions in the suburb are great fun and really make you feel like the characters truly are a part of the community. You can really tell that Baggot loves Notting Hill and London in general.

I will, of course, now need to rewatch Notting Hill, the movie.

I’m a big fan of Mandy’s writing so even before I started this book I had a strong feeling I’d enjoy it. For this reason I decided to read it during the Christmas break, it sounded like the perfect read to cosy up with.

I was immediately drawn to Isla’s sister, Hannah - she was a fabulous character who admirably fought against her vulnerability and so obviously cared about others. Selfless and sassy were the words that sprang to mind.

Chase surprised me, I wasn’t expecting him to be such a sensitive character. Yes he had his faults but his intentions were usually good and for me this made him one of the nice (and hot) guys.

Isla was such a strong, inspiring character which was great but I have to admit that I enjoyed it when she showed her vulnerable side because it allowed her to open up to others.

The classic Mandy Baggot magic enveloped me and I found it so easy to lose myself in the storyline. It felt as though I was there alongside the characters on the streets of London, seeing the sights and smelling the aromas that were so beautifully described on the page in front of me.

A wonderfully romantic Christmas story with a twist of real-life battles and humour. The perfect combination!

Isla Winters lives in Notting Hill with her sister Hannah. She works for Breekers, a development company. CEO Chase Bryan is in town from New York to pitch a new Super Hotel complex in London. Accompanied by his two young daughters, he needs a "go-to girl". Isla is reluctantly assigned to the role but soon realises that Chase may not be entirely honest - a bit of a problem considering they seem to be falling for each other.

When I'm looking for a sweet, easy, cosy read I look to Mandy Baggot. Her books are always lovely, with just the right amount of cheese (and heat). Her pop culture references are on point, and her female characters are always intelligent and likeable. This one, while I didn't love it as much as One Wish in Manhattan, was an ideal book to read in the lead up to Christmas. I finished it on Christmas Day, curled up on the couch with a glass of wine - bliss.

*Book provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

Notting Hill in the book title, obviously drew me to the book and with the pretty cover and the intriguing blurb, I just couldn’t resist.

I absolutely adored the characters of this book. Isla is fun, loves Christmas and does a great job looking after her sister Hannah, who is in a wheelchair. Chase has two daughters, Maddie and Brooke, and he was def my fave character. Great book boyfriend material as well ;). I felt like all their stories and their background was very well lined out and included in the story. That’s why I felt really close to them all. Maddie and Brooke added some extra sparks for me. I really like the scenes with them.

I loved the chemistry between Isla and Chace, Mandy Baggot captured it beautifully. The whole story seems very authentic and real, which I really liked.

The setting of this book is just beautiful. I love London and especially Notting Hill.

The ending felt a bit rushed for me, but I still think that this is a wonderful and warm Christmas read. She can capture the atmosphere and brings you into the world of the characters.

This was the first Mandy Baggot book that I've read but it won't be the last! I was immediately drawn to the cover because it looked so adorable and Christmassy - it makes you wonder who the people are! I really enjoyed this story from start to finish - there are some really lovely characters who Mandy has brought to life. It was almost like I lived on the square with them all rather than just reading about them. The story itself was sweet and well thought through. I loved the moral dilemma's that come up from a few different characters - it made it more interesting because you weren't 100% sure what was going to happen.

Definitely a new author for me to follow and I'd love a follow up to see what happened next with Isla and Chase - perhaps we could see more of Chase's ex wife and brother too! I'm sure there's a story there somewhere?!

This is a fun book, so well-written, and very English in style (that means that it is more general fiction than romance as published in America - there’s a lot going on that doesn’t involve hero and heroine being together). Very current with its cultural references, it feels like Christmas in 2017 - just with a lot more snow than you could reasonably expect to see in London (I’ve lived through multiple London Christmases).
The characters were well-developed, all very much their own people. Secondary characters like Isla’s younger sister were interesting and fun to have on the page. (But wouldn’t it be nice to occasionally have a teenage girl character who isn’t a negative stereotype?).
I liked the very real culture clashes between the English and American characters. I think it was done perfectly, especially in relation to the business hero and heroine work for. Chase’s “American corporate” approach totally baffles the Londoners.
This is a very “of the moment” story, with characters speaking and acting like real people in 2017, and heaps of mentions of current pop culture things. I liked the natural way everyone had of speaking. It felt real.
This is also a very Christmassy-feeling book without being cheesy. Yes, the winter wonderland feel is not London as it really is (snow is a rare novelty, not a daily occurrence, and it rarely settles), but it gives you the feel of London of the movies.
I had a little issue - it bugged me because it was a geographical thing I am familiar with:
Like the heroine of the book, I used to get on the Central Line train at Notting Hill Gate (I lived on the street closest to the station’s entrance), and travelled east to work. I had to go seven stops to work and seven home, and it was a journey long enough that I wouldn’t have made it more than once a day under pain of death.
In this book, the heroine, the hero, his daughters - everyone - they travel some FIFTEEN stops across *two* train lines multiple times a day, like it’s nothing. They zoom back and forth between the office in Canary Wharf (far east of London) and Notting Hill (west London) like it isn’t a journey of many kilometres, just to hang out in Notting Hill in their break.
That’s both impossible AND insane!
One big, glaring thing: all the American characters speak like born and bred Londoners. I was sat there. I was stood here. That’s a Britain-only way of speaking. And juddering! Again - no.
The cover of One Christmas Kiss in Notting Hill tells you everything you need to know about the book. It’s a pretty perfect read for this time of year.

In the summer of 2016 I had the honor of reviewing Those Summer Nights by Mandy Baggot. And boy, did I love that book! So when I first heard about One Christmas Kiss in Nothing Hill I knew I had to give it a chance.

But as it turns out I have some pretty mixed feelings about this book. Especially because I had to wrestle myself tough pretty much the first half of the book. I just couldn't find a connection with the characters.and I just didn't feel the holiday spirit I was expecting in this book.

Maybe it had to do with the fact that I was so bothered with the unrealistic story-line? The CEO of a million dollar company comes to London for this big, project that is a real deal-changer and he brings his kids? All day he spends maybe 2 hours at the office? He has no experience in running a million dollar company or anything. But he is de big men? Everything feels so forced and unrealistic. And I think that is what really bothers me. That the whole story feels like a set up. Every plot-line is twisted so it will fit, no matter how unrealistic it might be.

After I wrestled myself trough the first half of the book, the game changed and i found myself enjoying the story more. Suddenly the connection with the characters was there. Maybe because Mandy Baggot is without a doubt a queen in describing her story setting. I really felt like I was walking trough Nothing hill with Isla. And oh the delicious food that was described had my mouth watering! I was just craving one of those Christmas cupcakes or a spicy curry.

But that special Christmas feeling just didn't follow. And that was what I was looking for. All in all a good, somewhat unrealistic story.... but it lacked that real Christmas magic.
