Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! Robert does it again with another Dr Foster case. I love the Erica foster series, it’s always dark and mysterious, with good pace and satisfying ending.

Another good addition to the series. He continues to go from strength to strength with his books, this one featuring a double murder to focus on.

Utterly brilliant.
From start to finish, as always, I was totally gripped and read in one sitting.
I will never get bored with Bryndza's books. He's a fabulous writer.
Loved it and will be recommending it to the whole world!

I chose to read and review a free eARC of Cold Blood but that has in no way influenced my review.

I absolutely love this series and I'm a little bit gutted that I only have one book left to read now, following my completion of Cold Blood. As police procedurals go, this series is one of the best out there and it's always a joy to catch up with Detective Erika Foster and the team, and find out what dark and dangerous mind they're hunting down.

A large suitcase washes up on the muddy banks of the Thames. DCI Erika Foster and DI Kate Moss are called to investigate. Inside they find the dismembered remains of a man. Sliced and diced in all the right places to make him fit neatly inside. The way the body has been treated and disposed of brings a colleague's mind to a similar case a couple of weeks before. This time a woman had been dismembered, put into a suitcase and thrown in the river. Erika knows the two bodies are connected in some way but she struggles to work out how. And can she find the killer before it's too late...

This is another great addition to the DCI Foster series which I powered my way through. Despite having an ever changing team around her, the key characters are all present and correct. I really enjoyed the change of direction one of the relationships between MCs took in this book. Probably a little more than I should have to be honest. Which is a little odd as I was surprisingly pleased to see how things were progressing in the last book, Last Breath.

I enjoyed the investigation and the team's struggle to connect the dots. I have to be honest though and say this is probably my least favourite of all the books in this series. Cold Blood felt a little different and I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. I did note that there were a couple of occasions when I felt events were a little too convenient - which of course they need to be to move the story along - but perhaps they felt a little more forced than usual? Perhaps I was just in more of a grump reading this book than usual, lol! Please don't get me wrong. This is a minor quibble and doesn't take away from the fact that this is a cracking read in a magnificent series.

Would I recommend this book? But of course! I love this series so I heartily recommend you read and enjoy them all. Just because I didn't enjoy Cold Blood as much as the others doesn't change the fact that this is a superb series which I hope the author returns to writing in the future. I adored the ending which was beautifully visual, smacked you in the face and was exactly the right way to end the story. I enjoyed the sub-plots featuring the relationships of the characters, particularly the complete in-your-face, jaw-dropping betrayal by one of the characters. All in all, another great piece of crime fiction from a must-read author. Recommended.

I chose to read and review a free eARC of Cold Blood. The above review is my own unbiased opinion.

Another GREAT read.

I’m busting my backlist now that I’ve got my reading mojo back! And this series is one I’ve wanted to read in it’s entirety forever. And I’ve certainly got the time now.

Another case. Another growth spurt in the character of Erika.

Loved it

I set myself up a couple of TBR jars recently, one for physical books and the other for Kindle books. It has been a while since I read the last Erika Foster novel, but the Kindle TBR jar spoke and so I finally picked this one up!

When I first started this series, I really enjoyed it, devouring The Girl In the Ice and moving swiftly onto The Night Stalker. I patiently waited for the next books in the series, but as each came out, I grew more disappointed. I thought maybe picking this book up so long after reading the last, I would have forgotten about my annoyances, however, this wasn't the case.

I'll start off by saying this is a very easy crime thriller read. What I have always called a 'throwaway thriller'. It was a reasonably quick read for me over a few days. If it had been a more gripping story I would have read it in the space of a couple of evenings, but it wasn't quite enthralling enough for me to lose all my time in it.

I can't exactly remember what the plots were in the other books, but I feel like the story in this novel was a pretty typical crime novel situation. There was nothing special or unique about the criminals or crimes. A crime novel sort of needs to have a good crime story to be interesting and this one lacked that.

Unfortunately, the lack of interesting crime wasn't the only thing I didn't enjoy about this book. Erika Foster, the main character, is a piece of work. I remember my dislike for Erika being the driving force behind me not carrying on this series beforehand and nothing has changed. I find her character cruel, selfish and childish. She's horribly rude to everyone she meets, I can't even begin to understand why any of the other characters like her.

The ending of this one felt lazy too. Overall, it was my least favourite of the bunch and I will not be pursing book number 6. I feel good about getting this off my Kindle now though as it's been waiting to be read since the end of 2017!

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review

Number 5 of the Erika Foster series. And yet again it’s amazing. This author just gets how to write addictive, pacy mystery, thrillers. I almost hate the guy for so many sleepless nights but I love the stories and the characters. Another great plot, with the perspective of a serial killer an added bonus.

Tbh I can’t pick a weak point out- it’s just plain great writing, plot and characters.

More, more, more is required!!!

Another fantastic read in the Erika Foster series .. I am not sure if the books are getting shorter or I am reading them at a faster pace as this one didn't last me too long.

When a suitcase is washed up along the Thames, Erika and her team discover a dismembered body inside and so begins another gruesome murder investigation that sees a second suitcase wash up containing another dismembered body. This is fast paced, thrilling and is full of twists and turns, and as the case progresses, we see Erika's personal life take another bashing. A brilliant read and I cannot wait for Erika to return in the next book - I can only hope there is a little happiness in store for her! Thanks to netgalley for an arc in return for this honest review.

Detective Erika Foster and her team are back investigating a case where two suitcases were found with dismembered male and female body inside.Soon Erika realizes she is dealing with a pair of serial killers who are one step ahead of her all the time.

Cold blood is a fast paced gripping police procedural novel in Detective Erika Foster series. Even though this can be read as a stand alone I would suggest reading this series from the start.I completely enjoyed Erika’s character development and cannot wait to see where the next book in the series goes.

I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

Fantastic story. Fully enjoyed it. I have read all of the Erica foster books, and I think that cold blood is now my new favourite.
Now I desperately need book 6!!
Brilliant series and serial killers aplenty :-)

This is already the fifth book in the DCI Erica Foster series, and bloody hell, they just get better and better.
In this book Erica has to deal with a lot of personal issues, but also with the investigation of a dismembered body found. The investigation of the murder was compelling, thrilling and I couldn't wait to see if she would find the killers. The book read nicely as a standalone, but personally I think you miss a lot of the back story if you don't read them in order..... and its worth the read, so just do it!!!
Well done, well written and worth your time and money!

Robert is an absolute master at his craft! He can write a thriller that is full of suspense and I will never get over how well he has written what has been done a thousand times but he always has a unique way of writing a story.

Cold Blood was no exception to what I have said above! It was definitely one of my favorite books! It was a first by Robert but it definitely wont be my last!

I always enjoy this series, and getting back into the world of Erika and the gang. Once again Erika is on the hunt with a big case in hand, and is going at it like a bull at a gate. I love Erika's character, even if she can be a bit harsh and blunt sometimes. She's damn good at her job though, and always fighting to get the answers.

I felt like this one had a bit more of her personal life embedded in the story, and was maybe a bit slower in the storyline with how things played out. But that all played into particular events that happened along the way anyway.

There were things I was expecting, and things I wasn't, and by the end, the story played out in an unexpected way. I thought the resolution was going to be different, but in saying that, I was not disappointed in the end sequence. I think the characters got what they deserved in the end, particularly Max. I felt bad for Nina, but, she still was involved in everything that happened.

Bryndza writes this series well, and I look forward to reading the next.

The book is my first from the author however I saw high praise for the author' s other books. The book starts with DCI Erika Foster finding a suitcase that has a human finger stinking out. She is put on the investigation where she relates that there was another body cut up the same way and dumped. The autopsy report shows that the body carried cocaine.

The way Erika solves the crime is very interesting, Though there are certain places where the investigation takes a convoluted route, the book still keeps you glued. I liked the author spins the story.

I definitely recommend this book.

Another instalment in the incredible Erika Foster series of books by this author. Erika Foster has become a real person to me over the course of the series, and I really like her style. She has plenty of flaws and faults but she is very dedicated to her job.

Erika has another challenging case on her hands. Dismembered bodies keep on turning up and bit by bit, Erika and her team work out that it is the work of a duo working together.

I found this book fascinating. The dynamic between the killers and the relationships they had with the people around them was so beautifully written. There are psychological reasons why people commit heinous crimes and this was an interesting study as to how an ordinary person can turn into a killer.

The ending of the book was fantastic, so well done! 5 stars, of course :)

Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

🔸Okay the blurb of the book is a little too long. I am big fan of Mr Robert Bryndza and his brainchild Erika Foster. I have read all the four books before this one and have loved all of them and most got 4 to 5 stars ratings. And he didn’t disappoint again.

🔹The setting of Erika Foster story is always London. This is a fast paced atmospheric story, with short chapters and twists that make for gripping reading but contain some very disturbing depictions, pretty creepy if you ask me. But through Robert Bryndza’s spontaneous writing the ball keeps rolling.

🔸The flawed character of Erika is a sure fire winner, her survival and how she still manages to be standing after everything she has gone through is a testament to her inner strength. We also see some chapters that are depicted from the killer’s point of view.

Another 5* book from Robert Bryndza.
A suitcase is found on the banks of the river Thames, the start of the chase to capture the killer. This is no ordinary murderer, a serial killer who tests the great Erika Foster to her limits.
One of my absolute favourite detectives, Erika is a no nonsense woman who pushes herself to the limit....an amazing read

I loved the previous 4 books so reading this one was a no-brainer, Robert Bryndza's books just get better and better. Chapter lengths are perfect, it flows like a dream and is a brilliant thriller.

If you haven't tried any of this authors books I recommend you do but start at book one in the series, just to get to know the characters.

I wait in anticipation for the next one, which no doubt will be another 5 star read!
