While attending a boring function, SWAT officer Max Lowry smells another wolf with a scent that he just can’t resist. The fact that it belongs to a beautiful woman with a great personality is a bonus. Unfortunately, she doesn’t seem to know she’s a wolf.
This was pretty quick read. I loved all the interactions between Max and Lana, right from the beginning. Their journey throughout the book was quite an adventure. I enjoyed every minute of it. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

The One! Everyone has a soul mate. This group of werewolf SWAT officers each have one, but they have to find them first.

Wolf Hunger is a love at first sight type of romance with a mix of action as well as some suspense. I am not normally a fan of love at first sight romances since they tend to move too fast and the essence of the romance disappears. I can not say that about this book. The romance lacked a little for me, but the attraction and chemistry between Max and Lana was off the charts and made the story better. It took some time for me to get into the book, but when it did I could not stop until the end.

The idea of everyone having their one mate and the importance of that one got a tad repetitive. At times, this repetition put me off the story. I have read one of the books in the series some time ago and one thing that I found is that the series revolves around a bigger arcing plot. That said, this story can be read as a stand alone. The book is action packed!

At first I struggled some with the romance between Max and Lana. But with every page and chapter I read, more of the plot and the pasts of the main characters were revealed. Seeing the layers unfold made the story a lot more interesting. Their relationship may have been instantaneous, but it was fully developed half way through the book and that made the ending satisfying.

The climax was off the charts. I would read this book for the action if for nothing else. The climax was emotional, packed to the brim, and it flowed. I will read the next book because I want to know what happens next.

If you love your action with a hint of romance, then this is a great book to try.

I enjoyed this book. It pulled you right in and kept you turning the pages. This book was well written and I had no issues following the story. It tied into the other books in the series well.

There's a lot going on this Wolf Hunger. A family in distress that brings up Max's painful history, a secret legacy, hunters moving ever closer, injury, loss, and of course the romance. The beginning of Max's story is hard as we learn about the tragic circumstances that led to Max's change but I held on because Max deserved a happy ending and I wanted to see it.

I enjoyed Max and Lana's love story from the first meeting, through interfering parents, loss and the revelation of secrets. It did feel like the love story was a bit overshadowed by the huge things that happened but it was satisfying none the less.

Wolf Hunger moved us one step closer to the showdown between the werewolves and the hunters and keeps me interested in finding out what happens next.

Wolf Hunger, book 7 in the SWAT series, begins with Max following his nose to the woman of his dreams—and man don’t we all wish it was that easy to find our one true match in the world! The SWAT series is one that has intrigued me from the very beginning with its unique and interesting premise and of course the sexy men (and women) that make of the team of badass wolves that are protesting the citizens of Dallas from all the bad guys. While I was surprised by the direction of the overall arc of the series in recent books, bringing in a much bigger picture of werewolf culture and a big world changing bad guy, I have to say it was done beautifully and I am looking forward to seeing where Ms. Tyler takes us in coming novels. Max’s story was full of love and laughter as well as some seriously dangerous moments, terrifying bad guys, and tear-inducing feels, and I wouldn’t change a second of it. Lana and Max’s love story is certainly not smooth sailing by any stretch of the imagination, but I can honestly say that once they managed to survive to their happy ending, I have no doubt their lives will be long and filled with love together. Lana was an interesting character, even moments when I wanted to smack her for being a ninny, but overall I enjoyed seeing how smart and resourceful she was, and how she was willing to give up anything to save those she loved including risking her own life for those around her. Max was of course the perfect loving, deadly, alpha wolf and the man to show Lana the ropes as she comes into her wolf nature. Getting to experience these two coming together and finding a way through the labyrinth of drama and danger was an adventure I would not have given up for any amount of chocolate (sorry no money either but chocolate is always more incentive I think). Max and Lana were obviously meant to be and seeing them find a way to overcome all odds to be together shows us that even when the odds are stacked against us, if we have faith in each other and work together, we’ll find our love in the end. I am dying to see whose story comes next and just what will happen with these characters as they continue to experience changes in the wider world of werewolves and the much smaller world of the SWAT pack. Keep the magic coming Ms. Tyler!

Wolf Hunger is the seventh book in the SWAT series by Paige Tyler. While the romance is not dependent on having read the previous books in the series, the danger, conflict, and some character building was done in the previous books. So, if you are a reader that wants to understand all the lore and whys behind the main characters and big bads I highly recommend reading this series in order, if you can let go of that and enjoy the characters focused on in the story at hand, then feel free to read out of order and enjoy.

When SWAT Officer Max Lowry meets Lana Mason, he falls fast and hard. He’s positive she’s The One. And Max’s favorite part? Lana’s a wolf shifter too, so they can skip the awkward reveal and head straight to the happily ever after. There’s just one problem: Lana doesn’t know that she’s a werewolf. To make matters worse, hunters with intent to kill have tracked Lana to Dallas. Max has to figure out how to keep Lana safe, show her who and what she really is—and just how much she means to him.

Wolf Hunger follows the larger story arc about hunters and danger for werewolves. Readers that have not followed the series might not be ready for how much of the story focuses on the danger and suspense element that is connected to that. I like that Lana has a good head on her shoulders, and that even though she trusts Max she did not just shrug and move on after she was shown the truth of werewolves. She had a nice freak out, as any sane person tossed into chaos might. I also like how the community of werewolves, and police in town, changes and grows through the book. People are so much more than they seem, and I liked getting a glimpse at the deeper aspects of some of the secondary characters that have peppered earlier books. I found Max's conflicts and personal history to be well handle and still heart breaking. It was an important part of the story, and one of the most compelling parts. My only big issue with the book is the non story that surrounded Lana and Max's romance. It was kind of glossed over, and I found myself more interested in Lana's parents and Max's issues than them as a couple.

Wolf Hunger is a good read, and I liked the story. It just did not wow me, and I thought the emotional and relationship development could have had a little more to it.

I had never read a Paige Tyler book before this one. SWAT Teams? Shifters? YES PLEASE! I devoured this book and then went to the library the next day and got all the others. I love the team dynamic. The romance was great. The action was exciting. I will probably buy the whole series to complete my collection. If the author and publisher every release a boxed set, I would be in heaven!

This review is a little late but it doesn’t take away from the fact that I loved this story just as much as I’ve loved every one of the previous books in the series.

Max Lowry, the youngest wolf in the SWAT team, finds his One when attending a DPD awards ceremony. She is a wolf just like him, trouble is she doesn't know it. Lana for her part is attracted to Max and wants to spend a lot of time with him but her father, deputy chief in charge of the tactical teams, doesn’t want her to.

Like every book in the series this one took the span of less than a week but there is so much going on that it feels like much more time. I love the way Max was trying to handle the situation and trying to determine if Lana really didn’t know what she was.

There were a lot of holy guacamole moments, what with the hunters and the shootings and stuff, that had me glued to my kindle and had me cursing people for making me do my job and not leaving me alone!

This thing with the hunters is reaching critical points and I can’t wait to see what else is there for the SWAT guys to deal with. I hope the next one is Zane or at least that I don’t have to wait a lot for his story. I want to know what will happen to him after everything he went through in this book.

Wolf Hunger

SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team Series - Book 7

By Paige Tyler

Sourcebooks Casablanca - December 2017

Paranormal Romance

Max Lowry was well aware of the legend of The One, especially since so many of his fellow packmates had been finding their own. When he met Lana Mason, it was an instant attraction, and so much more. He was fascinated with her, he liked her, and his interest appeared reciprocated. And even better, she was also a werewolf. At first, Max didn't think it could be any better, until he noticed little things, including the fact that she appeared not to realize she was a werewolf.

Lana couldn't believe how quickly she and Max hit it off. He seemed perfect, even was a SWAT officer, but her father's reaction was over the top. She couldn't understand his behavior, but could handle him. There were other, more important issues. First, her roommate was murdered. Then, it appeared someone might have followed her. Though they might have just met, it seemed only natural that it was Max that she turned to.

Wolf Hunger is the seventh story in Paige Tyler's SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series, and I found it to have the most ironic concept. Max is so happy to have found his One, and thinks he'll have it so much easier than his friends. Not so. First, there is the annoying problem of her father, who seems to have always had a grudge against the SWAT team. Now, that man's daughter is Max's One, which wouldn't be so bad, especially considering she is a werewolf. If only she were aware of that fact. It was interesting to see Lana's slow adjustment and realization of what she is. Plus, there is the continued threat of the hunters whose intent is to kill werewolves. Just another day for a werewolf SWAT officer. I look forward to the next SWAT story.

3.75 Hearts This is the seventh in the series. And I really enjoyed it. Max and Lana are just perfect for each other. This story has some really really funny moments. And some really really sexy moments.

Being the 7th in the series I really suggest reading them all before this one but I guess you could read it as a stand alone but I really do not recommend it. The background story is on going and is best to understand from book one.

I think the characters are great. Lana and Max have some adorable moments that just made me want to melt for them. So sweet. And yet Max seems to be a big kid at heart. And the background characters are just as fun. The action is well action packed. There is a lot going on and the tension stays high during all of these moments.

A great paranormal romance.

I don't remember ever hearing of Paige Tyler before, although I may have seen the name before. I don't remember if I did.

Anyway, this is book 7 in the SWAT (Special Wolf Alpha Team) series. I've obviously not read any of the others. I generally don't jump into the middle of a series if I can help it, but I went for it this time.

The book was ok. The writing was missing that spark of magic that elevates it, so it was just ok. A few typos, but that might be because I read a pre-release. You spout quotes, not sprout them.

I'm not tracking down the previous books to read them, and not planning to make a note to read the next ones. But if I was looking for something to read and one them was around, I'd read it.

Verdict - Recommended if you're bored and looking for something to read, but don't go out of your way.

Wolf Hunger, by Paige Tyler is an captivating paranormal suspense romance and part of the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team book series.

Due to a tragic incident, Max Lowry almost died at the age of eighteen, yet he became an alpha werewolf instead. Now, he's living in Texas and working as a SWAT officer, along with with fellow werewolf shifters and pack mates.

During a work event, Max meets Lana Mason - a mostly vegetarian werewolf. However, Max soon realizes that Lana is unaware that she is actually a werewolf shifter, too. Even though they both act on their immediate attraction, Lana is hesitant about a long-term relationship due to her possible job options across the States and around the world. Max is still dealing with his past...his family had a rough life, while dealing with his abusive and alcoholic father. Plus, Lana's father is one of Max's bosses at work.

As the story unfolds, Max and Lana are forced to deal with dangerous hunters tracking and trying to kill them (and other werewolf shifters), while figuring our their new relationship.

Since it's the seventh book in the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series, it's recommended to start with the first book, yet it's not necessary to read the books in order. I was introduced to this series with the sixth book, titled Wolf Hunt, which encouraged me to read the entire SWAT series.

Wolf Hunger is recommended and geared towards those who enjoy reading paranormal action-suspense romances, particularly stories involving military alpha werewolves.

This is book 7 in the SWAT series and they should really be read in order.I have just loved this series and this book did not disappoint. This is Lana and Max's story I just loved these two together, she is his bosses daughter and her dad does not want him anywhere near his daughter. He has some control issues with his werewolf and she does not know she is one, This was a super addition to the series and I really liked it.

This is another well written DPD Swat story. There is suspense and mystery worked into the story. There is the conflict that comes from Lana not knowing she is a shifter. There is the conflict of Max's past and the domestic violence that is possible in their current situation. I really like the way Max handles everything. I loved it.

A charming, sweet male werewolf, a smart female werewolf with integrity, humor, steamy sex, and solid world building added up to fast-paced and enjoyable story.

I love the world building in this series. With each book we get more detail and depth to the world. We learn, along with the SWAT team, more about the different types of wolves and the hunters who are killing the wolves. Because of the world building, and the relationships, the books are best read in order. You could follow events in the book but would probably be confused.

Max is the youngest of the SWAT wolves and his backstory was particularly sad. But he's moved on, for the most part, and enjoying his life. He's a compassionate man, who enjoys flirting, dancing, and hanging out with his teammates/packmates. And, having seen six of his teammates find their One, their true mate, he's open to the possibility of meeting his.

And meet his One, he does. But there are complications; Lana doesn't know that she's a werewolf, and she is the daughter of the deputy chief of police, in charge of the Tactical Division which includes the SWAT team. Lana and Max are immediately attracted to each other but Lana's dad doesn't want them seeing each other. Lana, 23 and a recent college grad, ignores her father's wishes. She and Max spend a lot of time together but things quickly get crazy and complicated, thanks to the hunters, Max's work in SWAT, and Lana's father.

The action was fast and there was a lot of it. There were some heartbreaking moments and I need to read the next book to find out what happens with one of the SWAT members. I was caught up in the story, enjoying Max and Lana's flirting, the different mysteries which merged into one, and the drama of a family that Max is trying to help.

Some favorite quotes:

A vegetarian werewolf? Now, that was epically funny. Unless it was true, in which case it was a little strange.

He seemed more interested in eating her up-like a Snickers. Yay for Snickers!

In a world that is constant changing, Max Lowry is apprehensive about finding his "One". He sees his team mates falling hard for women. He isn't sure if he wants it or not, but if it happens, he would be happy. Still, he is the youngest on the team and his chances seem slim. Plus he is struggling still to control his wolf. When he meets Lana Mason off chance, he's over the moon with finding his one. Now that she's appeared, he is no longer mixed in what he wants.

This 7th book in the series can be read as a standalone. It is better to read the previous books for more context about an underlying plot. Lana is a woman who is smart and determined. She finds Max just as attractive as he does her. Young love is beautiful until daddy comes in and throws down. Lana's father is determined to keep Max from her. It doesn't help that Lana's father is pretty much Max's boss. Confused as to why Lana's father would hate him so much, Max still tries to win him over. He already has Lana's mother's blessing. This is where the plot twist comes in.

Lana has no idea she is a werewolf. Max thinks she knows. Max also thinks Lana's father knows about the SWAT team and their peculiarities. When more scared werewolves come into town to be protected by the SWAT team, Max's personal and work life cross paths and hit hard. Frenemies turn into staunch allies. Omega wolves turn from crazy unstable killers into beta wolves, sometimes even pseudo-alpha. This covert enemy now also targets Lana. All those close to her are being systematically killed or tortured. Lana is in the middle of situation that she has no idea about and can only turn Max and her father for help.

This story started out slowly and then picked up pace. I liked the conflicts in the story as well as the slow romancing of Lana. This flip of where Lana didn't know she was a wolf and how she ends up freaking is nicely done. Ms. Tyler keeps writing great books with fun characters, good plot and continuous world building. Can't wait to read the next book in the series. This suspense romance is recommended to paranormal readers who enjoy alpha men and strong headed females.

This is book seven in the SWAT series but it read fine as a standalone. Lana Mason is an interesting character. She knows that she is attracted to SWAT Officer Max Lowry but does not realize that he is THE ONE. Max does know that Lana is his ONE but he realizes that Lana does not know she is a werewolf and does not really understand why her attraction to Max is so strong. That keeps the plot in the first part of the book moving. The danger Lana is in fuels the second part. This is another interesting take on what a werewolf is and how a werwolf is made.

I love the SWAT series and am glad this book was no exception. Max is the whole package, caring and alpha wrapped up in a sexy package. I like how the author gives them a type of vulnerability to keep them from being perfect. They seem more believable that way. The whole team – and the new ones we meet – work well to make you feel they are a cohesive and fun group of people, with Lana fitting right in. Her unique story was fun to read, it added nicely to the whole storyline and made for a smoking romance. I loved this pulse-pounding and sexy romance.

In Wolf Hunger one of the youngest members of the team finally gets to experience what many members already have, meeting their one. At first sniff, Max is feeling rather sure of himself since this woman is a wolf shifter, gets rid of all those complicated awkward conversations about “oh, by the way, did you know people actually turn into wolves” thing. Yeah, Max was feeling pretty good about life right up until he met Lana face to face. One, she’s the daughter of one very powerful man who is ranks above him in his profession, and Two – she has no clue that she’s a werewolf. Okay, so bring on the awkward and complicated conversations.

I have loved this series from the very first book. It’s an intense world, a hidden world in many ways but as the series continues so much about this world is changing, evolving into something that, if possible, becomes even more intriguing as time goes on. Behind the current couple and the romantic suspense in their particular story we’ve seen this world grow, have had questions answered but even more questions are left unanswered, for we didn’t know the questions to ask. I have enjoyed watching this world expand, and now I’m even more intrigued to see where our SWAT members will go next while preparing for what feels like an all out war.

Gage, commander and alpha of this pack, has been preparing his team as best he could for what he’s felt is certainly coming at them. What Gage and his team don’t know is that the Hunters are already here. Max has just found the woman for him, and dealing with her disbelief is one thing but now he’s also fighting for her life since not only are the Hunters here… they’re after Lana specifically.

I liked Max and Lana together – I particularly liked Lana for her strength, and for one of the most realistic responses to the “hey, I, and now you, turn furry occasionally, don’t worry it’s no big deal” conversation. Every new member brings something unique to this group and to the series. With the developments, twists and turns in Wolf Hunger I’m really looking forward to discovering the next steps for this amazing group of people.

Wile some might say that you could read these books out of order, I’d disagree for some background developments build throughout the series. I’d recommend Wolf Hunger and the entire series to any reader who enjoys Romantic Suspense, Mystery and Paranormal Romance. It’s fast paced, steamy and an entire world unto itself – you’ll be hooked in a very good way.
