Ex-tennis pro and ex-model learn that wishes to Father Christmas can come true

Daniel was a tennis pro but an injury sidelined him and now he owns a tennis teaching academy.

Melissa was a model but now is a clothes designer, raising her seven year-old son William after leaving and divorcing her manipulative, emotionally abusive husband.

William takes tennis lessons from Daniel and soon the sparks are flying between Daniel and Melissa.

This was a fun, romantic British romance. I learned some things about British Christmases and Boxing Day. I thoroughly enjoyed Daniel and Melissa's slow-to-start romance.

I received this book from Choc Lit UK through Net Galley in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.

Melissa has never really enjoyed Christmas, as a child she felt unloved by cold parents, and when she married Lawrence she made a big mistake as he also turned out to be a cold bullying man. Having left Lawrence she is determined to make better memories for her son William, even though Lawrence told William when he was four that Father Christmas didn't exist!

Having had to give up his career as a professional tennis player Daniel decided to open up a tennis academy and when Melissa brings along get son William for lessons Daniel is instantly attracted to her but the last thing either of them want is a relationship.... isn't it!

A lovely Christmassy story with some great characters, I particularly loved Daniel, and although the storyline was predictable I really enjoyed it

A Second Christmas Wish is a lovely first book for me to read by Kathryn Freeman. It has humor, so some may consider it a Romantic comedy. However, it also has serious undertones. It is also a story of family, of restoring a child’s wonder of the Season that was destroyed by a carless, mentally abusive parent.

William is a delightful if shy child with a loving mother, supportive community and one harsh, manipulative father. Where I come from, we would about him say, “I just wanted to ring his neck!” You get the idea. This is also an indication of how the author drew me into the story concerning William’s second Christmas wish. It is a compelling read that insisted the reader take Melissa’s (mother) side which has William’s well-being at heart.

Like in the classic, The Miracle of 42nd Street, you will strongly desire for William to rediscover the magic of Christmas. His mother finding love with a great father figure is icing on the cake.

Melissa is trying to make the best life for her and her young son. She finally escapes her controlling ex husband but it seems he wants something. Can she protect her son and find a new life to live?
Daniel is finally in a place in his life he's ready to start the next chapter if he could just get his sister off his back. When Melissa walks into his life he wonders what he was thinking and if maybe she might have something to do with the next chapter now all he has to do is convince her. Can he convince her and get out of it what he wants and still remain in one piece?

I was not a huge fan of this book. I found the book very predictable and found Melissa annoying and whiny. I found Daniel charming and I loved Alice she's that annoying "little sister" everyone wants or has and has such a big heart. I really loved the relationship between William and Sammie that just seemed to be up to no good some times and be just like normal little boys. I found Lawrence a bit much and annoying as well. I will say I did enjoy the Christmas aspect of the story and how finding love, family and forgiveness around the holidays is so important. The is adult language in this book and may not find it suitable for all ages.

I’m a sucker for Christmas stories but sadly this story didn’t work out in my favor one bit. I had a hard time getting into this story and connecting with the characters. I ended up stopping at Chapter 6. Even though this story didn’t work out for me please don’t let my review stop you from reading.

This is a sweet, charming book. Easy to read in one sitting. The cover is beautiful.

This is a typical Christmas romance, and if that's what you're looking for then this is the book for you. The characters are quite stereotypical: the handsome man with deep brown eyes, the ex-model, the nervous little boy. No surprises but entertaining.

This is a lovely, gentle love story. Melissa lives with her painfully shy son, William, after leaving her controlling and bullying ex husband.

In an attempt to get William some confidence, she signs him up for tennis coaching with Daniel, her best friend's brother. Daniel is an ex grand slam winner, who has retired from professional play due to an injury.

William very quickly bonds with Daniel and shares his secrets with him. The attraction between Daniel and Melissa grows slowly - and Melissa is very scared after her last experience.

A pro tennis player who can no longer play competitively opens a tennis academy. A single mother desperately trying to give her son the love, nurture and safety that his father denied him through years of emotional abuse. A sister and friend bring these two sides together in a wonderful story of love, trust, fear and a child’s secret Christmas wish. It’s not your everyday boy meets girl love story. There are many tears and laughter along the way but definitely a heartwarming story with a lovely ending.

This is just right book to curl up with in front of the fire at Christmas. Its the story of Simon and Melissa and how he helps her to live and love again after her marriage to Lawrence. William is Melissa's son and he also learns to be a child and have fun after living with a bullying father.

Melissa never liked Christmas since she married but could this year be different? She wants to show her son Max that Father Christmas does exist and that Christmas can be full of love and fun.
Max is scared of his Dad – he is over bearing and doesn’t understand his son’s shy nature. Since his parents’ divorce he has lived with his Mum and he loves that. Melissa encourages her son to join his friend in having tennis lessons with his friend’s uncle Daniel – a former professional tennis player. Max finds a sport he is good at and loves, as well as new friends. His mother also finds a new friend in Daniel and they find that spending time together is good for them.
As this relationship progresses both have to assess whether they are willing to risk themselves and their hearts to get what they want.
A lovely Christmas story that makes you smile. I would recommend this book.

I am not usually into romance books, however, this one has romance and a strong female. The story has so many nice elements: A mom who stands up for her kid, a guy who is not pushy, a mom who is ok with some affection but keeps it to herself. I enjoyed the book and the setting of the book. A great, quick read that will warm your heart.

This is a great holiday romance. Not everyone approaches Christmas with joy in their hearts, especially if you have never experienced a truly happy one. But for her young son's sake, Melissa tries her best to make it a happy Christmas this year. Her ex has suddenly decided he would like to play a role in his son's life, but for all the wrong reasons. Thankfully, Melissa has found someone who will make a difference in her son's life and perhaps give her a reason to truly celebrate Christmas.

A heartfelt read about Christmas and wanting the happiness and contentment that the season can bring to someone o has just not "felt it or had it." Daniel McCormick not only does his best but succeeds in bringing a festive spirit to two very deserving people (and himself!) Definitely a delightful story and a holiday must read. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book prior to publication--it was a joy!
