Sometimes an author does an incredible amount of research for a story and I applaud them and appreciate those efforts because it usually results in a wonderful story without the glaring errors that take me out of the reading. And sometimes those authors go a little too far by including all that research in the book rather than letting it guide their storytelling. This was a little of the latter. Including far too much detail about the time travel took the magic out of the experience and should have been kept simple. We're not reading a time travel romance for the science behind it...

The relationship was slower moving because both characters had way, way too much detail and explanation and convincing. Then jumping into bed with one another happened a little too quickly for me, even though I prefer a slightly smutty romance, because I didn't feel any kind of real connection or a basis for an emotional foundation to their relationship.

Even though the pacing was off and the characters were interesting yet a bit basic, the overall story intrigued me and was a pretty good read.

I highly recommend Tangled in Time to anyone who enjoys time travel romances with some paranormal mixed in. Regan travels to Ireland to see about getting rid of her ability to see ghosts, when she encounters Faelan. Faelin is over 100s of years old, he's cursed and ghost. He needs Regan's help to release the curse spun on him. A well-written time travel romance that will sweep you away.

When a book starts with yoga poses in Ireland, it just can not be a bad book. Tangled in Time has so much more going for it, the yoga is a bonus. The MacCarthy family are born with gifts since a distant relative was one of the fae. Although their parents have encouraged Regan and her sisters to use their gifts, Regan is burned out from being at "her" ghosts beck and call. She sells her yoga studios and moves to Ireland to find a way to be able to turn off her gift. She steals into a magical historical place early in the morning for this purpose. Here Faelan, a member of the Fianna, legendary third century warriors finds. Is he a ghost as she suspects and insists or is he cursed as he insists. His story is that an angry Fae princess relegated him to the void, an in between space for almost two thousand years, to be there until conditions in the curse on met. Anymore details would give too much of the plot away. This is a fast paced read, hard to put down. Just as you think you have things figured out the author puts in a twist to spice and liven things up. This is the first Barbara Longley book I have read, although I have several in my TBR pile. I was not sure if I would like this book, but I can saw I wholeheartedly loved it. I would love to see more of the MacCathys. Great reading.

I have read another book by this author, I enjoyed it, this one I had a hard time with. I couldn’t get into the story or the characters. I love Ireland, and anything Irish, but this I just couldn’t do this. The story was just missing something.

I don't normally read time travel romance but I really enjoyed this book. Regan has the ability to see ghosts but she doesn't want it. She travels to Ireland to see if she can get rid of it but instead meets Fáelán, who is hundreds of years old and cursed. He enlists her help to be freed from the curse. Danger ensues and the happiness they deserve may be lost.

Okay, so I have said this before and will again—I don’t generally enjoy time travel themed romances, mainly because they are generally not written very well. But when I saw this one was written by a favorite author I figured I would give it a shot, then I realized it was much more than a simple time travel romance. Ms. Longley begins her all new series with a serious new view of the world around us and I really liked getting to know these characters and learning about their lives. The themes shown here and there is the story instead of detracting from the romance only added to the heart, passion, and drama of the love story. If you are a fan of any type of paranormal romance, enjoy a good ghost story, like a sexy smartass, or simply want to try something just a little bit out there you will find something to enjoy in this story. Regan has traveled to Ireland in the hopes of learning more about and hopefully getting rid of here “gift” of being able to see and communicate with ghosts. Pulled to a mystical site of great power she stumbles across a ghost that like so many claims he isn’t a ghost, but this time he has an all new angle. Fáelán claims to be a cursed warrior that is centuries old, caught between worlds and only free to escape a few days each year, but according to him the fact that she can see him means she just might be the woman to free him. No pressure, though. As Fáelán appoints himself her tour guide, spending the time he has on her plane each day to get to know her and woo her, Regan finds herself enjoying his company more and more and begins to question if he really is a ghost or might be telling the truth. At least until he shows up on her doorstep, sweeps her into his arms, and shows her just how not dead he is. But now they are faced with the even bigger challenge of breaking his curse and finding a way to be together, because not only has Regan accepted the truth of Fáelán’s existence, she’s fallen in love with him too. This story was beyond interesting and I loved the world building, but the love between Fáelán and Regan truly was the focus as they learned about one another and fell in love despite everything and everyone conspiring against them. Regan was the kind of woman I would want to be, selfless in her love and willing to sacrifice her own happiness for the man she loves, no matter the pain it leaves her in. I also loved seeing her come to accept her gift the more she is able to use it to connect with Fáelán, showing that sometimes the hand of fate is not to be questioned, not matter how uncomfortable or annoying it can be to us. Fáelán was a bit of an ass at times, but then again what alpha warrior from the past wasn’t, but his sweetness, intelligence and willingness to support Regan made up for his stubbornness. His determination to find a way to defeat his captors and get back to his love, no matter how long it took showed that once he truly gave his heart away there was no taking it back. I cannot wait for the next two stories in this series and look forward to seeing Fáelán and Regan in the next stories about her sisters as they too find their matches. Another masterful series in the making, Ms. Longley!

Perfect for fans of Outlander and Jude Deveraux, Tangled in Time transports you to long-lost soulmates in the lush backdrop of Ireland. I love time travel romance and this one is incredible. I was so sad when it ended and can't wait for the next installment. Highly recommend!

Disclaimer: I received an ARC from the author via Netgalley in the hopes I'd review it.

My Rating: 5 stars

I like this stories concept of having a cursed man that's lived hundreds of years waiting for true love.

Fáelán is a warrior, a type of special OPS, from the past cursed because of a capricious Fae that wanted him. He has spent years trapped in a kind of limbo where just a few people can see him.

Regan has powers she's inherited that let her see ghosts. She travels to the land of her Irish ancestors trying to rid herself of her gift.

When Regan meets Fáelán for the first time she thinks he is a ghost and she doesn't want to even talk to him. He convinces her bit by bit of what really happened to him and they slowly start falling in love. Needless to say, once the terms of the curse are met everything goes to hell.

At this point is when I start losing excitement over this book. There are many things that I cannot wrap my mind around. First, if Boann knew about him for so long why didn't she try to at least talk to him? I don't care who or what her mother is. Second, why once the curse was broken didn't Morrigan find another way to fuck him up but to go back on her word? And last but by no means least, how in the hell could Fáelán teleport modern things with him to his island? Plus he sounded Scottish to me.

Like I said I liked the concept but it went in a completely wrong direction for me.

I really like her books and this one is good, but not up to her usual standards. I felt that my questions about the heroine, her family, and the hero's plight were not answered in the right spots. As I read the book I just felt out of sync with the story somehow, even though the story itself is good.

Tangled in Time is a good introduction to The McCarthy Sisters series. I cannot wait to read the next one in the series.

Regan and Faelan.. The amount of research that had to be done for this book is astounding. these time crossed lovers really pull at the heart strings. they have every issue imaginable with curses, time travel ,losing their memories, and don't forget jealous witches, but once again love with a little bit of help always wins.

To set him free from an ancient curse, she must travel to a time of myth and legend…

Regan MacCarthy’s ability to see ghosts is a gift inherited from her Irish ancestors, but it’s one she’d dearly like to give back. In an attempt to return her powers to their source, she travels to Ireland to harness the ancient magic that still permeates the mystical site of Newgrange. Instead, something far more unexpected awaits her: a strapping, gorgeous stranger who insists he’s a centuries-old Celtic warrior.

Fáelán was one of Fionn MacCumhaill’s elite soldiers before being cursed by a resentful fae princess. The only way to free himself is to fall so deeply in love that he’d sacrifice his life. Not an easy matter when he’s invisible to most. Yet Regan sees him—not just the proud, handsome warrior on the surface, but the complex man beneath. Only when it’s too late does Fáelán realize that drawing this beautiful mortal into his world has endangered them both, and may destroy the happiness he’s waited an eternity to claim…

I have been a sucker for a good time travel romance ever since I read Outlander back in the 90s. That being said, the bar was also set high due to that book and series, and I have read more than few duds. I am so happy to say that TANGLED IN TIME is far from a dud.

I immediately related to Regan from the very first chapter and that feeling just grew stronger throughout the book. Her thoughts and comments about her 'boasty ghosty' were both amusing and rather hot at others. I found myself cheering her and Fáelán on as their relationship deepened.

Now Fáelán has me wondering how I could find muyself on of Fionn's elite. He is well spoken, very disciplined and oh so hot. When I learned of his curse, I was crossing my fingers that it could be broken easily but we all know how that goes.

I highly recommend TANGLED IN TIME to any of my readers who enjoy time travel romances especially ones with a bit of magic blended in. This story will sweep you away from the humdrum of your every day life and shows how love (along with a bit of magic) can overcome all.

*** I received this book at no charge from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed within are my own.

A paranormal, fantasy romance, Tangled in Time takes the reader on an adventurous ride back to the dark and misty times of Irish history, imbued with the influence of the fae and supernatural. Regan longs to be stripped of her supernatural powers and takes a sabbatical in Ireland with a view to finding the source of the magic that influences her family to this day. Instead she finds herself confronted with a lusty warrior from the past and while she is doing everything to “lead him to the light” in order that his soul might be at peace, he needs her to break the curse that he has being living under for almost 2000 years. Fáelán may well be a warrior from the past, however he has knowledge gained over the centuries and isn’t without resources. This book is well written with a good flow of language carrying the reader along from beginning to end. It appears to be the start of a series but is nevertheless a standalone. There is wit and plenty of humour as well as high adventure, and provided the reader doesn’t take the book too seriously, it is a good fun read. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Regan has the gift to see ghosts and she has the ability to help assist them in their transition to the other side. She received the gift from her Irish ancestors so she believes the way to get rid of it is to return there and hopefully it will end as rather than enriching her life it makes it more difficult.

Faelan was an elite warrior however he has been living under a curse for over 1800 years where he has become immortal and the only way to break the curse if to love another so deeply that they become your reason for living and you would do anything for them.

When Regan sees Faelan she mistakes him for a ghost not an immortal however she doesn’t understand the feelings he draws from her or why he is different from the other ghosts she has assisted. Will she be Faelan’s chance at true love or is he destined to remain in limbo for all eternity?

The love between these characters was real and deep and the plot unique. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I received a copy of this e-book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Regan has decided to go to Ireland for a year and discover her heritage. She comes from a family with "gifts" and hers is that she can see and talk to ghosts. She has grown tired and frustrated with this as she never gets any respite from it.

On one of her tours, she sees a man...a ghost?

Faelan is from the 3rd century and has been cursed by a fae princess. Regan doesn't believe him, figuring he is in denial which causes frustration for them both. Faelan starts going on her sightseeing trips with her and another frustration begins...they're very attracted to one another but unable to touch.

Regan and Faelan work to reverse the curse but this only leads to more...

Can they reverse the curse and be together? Will the Fae Princess keep to her word? Will the sacrifices keep the other safe?

I thought this book was awesome and want to read more about the sisters! This couple find their soul mates within each other and go through hell to try to be together. Regan would call Faelan a "boasty ghosty" which I thought was funny. Of course, when she came up with that name, she was still sure he was a ghost that didn't want to turn to the light.

I loved how Faelan kept with the times and grew as a man over the years but I felt so bad that he was so lonely since most couldn't see him. He and Ragen risk so much to be together and you never knew what the outcome would be since the Fae aren't so trustworthy and a certain princess was even less trustworthy.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more.

I don't normally read sci-first books but took a chance. Not my favorite, was hard to follow which didn't keep my interest. The writing was good but you do need to be a fan of this type of book.

I received this book from Net Galley.

Review: Tangled in Time by Barbara Longley
Time Travel romances were a favorite read of mine probably twenty years ago and like anything you read a lot of, I got burned out on them. I have read a few others over the years, but haven't gotten hooked back into them. However, when I saw this book on Net Galley in exchange for a fair and honest review, I decided to try again.

Regan is a young woman with an agenda. She has quit her job in America and has moved to Ireland for a year to try and find a way to get rid of her problem. Her problem? She sees ghosts and can help them move on. She's so tired of seeing them everywhere and of them constantly being in the background bothering her. She has two sisters who also have magic, but they don't have to talk to the dead like she does. Her first stop is a mystical place that she goes to at dawn her first morning in Ireland. Hoping she can tap into the magic of the place, she tries to meditate using yoga. She taps into something alright, but not what she's expecting at all. Faelan is cursed to living alone in another realm than humans, although he can cross over a bit while at the magical place. Seeing Regan in what he considers a scandalous pose, in even more scandalous clothes(yoga pants)he can't take his eyes off her. When Regan sees him, all she can think is, Oh No anther ghost. And she won't believe him when he tells her he has been cursed by a fae princess a few thousand years ago. The curse won't lift until he falls in true love with someone and well..you can see where this is going.

I found this to be different from most time travel romances in that it's mainly about Faelan's curse. And he's immortal as long as the curse lasts, so he's not traveling through time. There is a time travel component, but it's really only a small part of the book. A very small part-but necessary. Faelan comes from a time of superstitions and belief in magic. I think it's like the year 300 bc. The fae in this story can go to any time period they want. And cause havoc in any time period as well.

I did like the characters when I wasn't mad at some of Regan's actions. Her disbelief in Faelan not being a ghost went on a bit too long despite so much proof to the contrary. I know it would be hard to grasp for anyone, but she has so much experience with magic, I thought she would get it faster than she ultimately does. On Faelan's part, we meet him in the now and at another point, we meet him back in time. He's a good guy, smart, handsome, and he falls hard for Regan. Regan falls as well, but of course that's a given in a paranormal romance. But things are never easy and so much more happens than just a romance.

A curse, a time travel component, a good romance, the Ireland setting, and the fae causing problems, all added up to a pretty good time for me. Oh, there was a plot hole from fairly early on in the book that I am still a bit wondering about, but that's pretty much expected when dealing with magic, time fluidity, and a curse. It's a wonder there weren't more. That the author was able to deal with all of that and still have believable characters and a good romance was a plus as well for me.

Recommended to adult(due to steamy scenes)paranormal romance readers.
