It took me a serious amount of time to finish this book. And to be honest, now that I am done reading I can not tell you in depth what is was about. The story is set in roman times, is stretches from across the British isles, to Trier, and even much further than that. An astonishing amount of characters play a part in the story, so many that I don't have a clue who, or what, or what about really. A pity because the writing seems solid. If you want to know what this book is about I couldn't really tell you but if you love a book that feels like a proper puzzle this is something for you.

An impressive followup volume to The Wall. True to the first book, Roman Britain is expertly portrayed with historical accuracy and detailed descriptions and characterization. I will await volume 3 eagerly.
